not for lack of trying or interest

Hey, You Might Be Autistic.

Okay, deep breaths. I know this is hard for you if you’ve always considered yourself neurotypical.

You might be thinking of the “Autistic screeching” jokes, that you’ve heard them used, that you’ve used them yourself.

You might be thinking “but I’m smart/social/normal!”

It’s okay. Unpack your defensiveness.

ESPECIALLY if you’re AFAB (assigned female at birth). So many Autistic AFAB people are never diagnosed, and I’m going to try to make sure you’re not one of them.

- If you are often “in fandoms” and you have hyperfixations with them - whether they change or not - that could be a Special Interest (SpIn for short), a term for an Autistic person’s fixation.

- If you consider yourself “smart but lazy” - Autistic people tend to be “smarter” than most neurotypicals, but often lack energy. This is sometimes dismissed as “a gifted person who just isn’t trying”.

- If you have “resting bitch face”, remember that Autistic people usually don’t express emotion in their face or body language, so it could be one of the key signs for Autism.

- If you are “sensitive towards light/sound/temperature” and often find yourself “overreacting” (and feel childish / have people tell you that you’re childish because of it), you could be experiencing sensory overload.

- If you “enjoy fidgeting” or just really like good smells/tastes/textures beyond normalcy, you could be stimming, which is extremely common in both people with ADHD and Autism.

- If you are “emotional because of other people’s feelings” or “unempathetic/unemotional when it comes to other people”, you could be experiencing hyperempathy/hypoempathy, especially if you tend to fluctuate between the two. Remember that being hypoempathetic doesn’t make you a bad person: you can still experience compassion/sympathy like anybody else!

- If you consider yourself “weird”, remember that Autistic minds work differently than Allistic minds, and that this could mean that you’re not just “quirky/odd/unusual”, you’re Autistic.

Don’t panic, the Autistic community is beautiful and a lovely place to be in. And remember that self-diagnosis is 100% okay, good, and valid.

Everybody can reblog this, whether you are Autistic or Allistic/neurotypical ❤️

EDIT: I’m just putting it here so I don’t have to tell you all individually, do more research before self-diagnosing. Look at professional websites (especially Autistic-run websites) and blogs by Autistic people, even the #actuallyautistic tag on Tumblr. Don’t take my word as the final truth, many neurotypical people fit this criteria. Feel free to DM me if you have questions 💕
Asexual People of Note

I was thinking about how I could name maybe one asexual celebrity off the top of my head and decided to do a little research.

First, people who are openly asexual in their own words:

Tim Gunn - Designer and fashion icon most well known for hosting Project Runway, openly self identifies as asexual. The most clear cut and recognizable example on this list as he has actually used the term asexual and encourages support for and education on asexuality and other marginalized sexualities.

Morrissey - This one surprised me! Rock star and leader of the Smiths, his sexuality was a topic of media debate before the term asexual was really available and so he most often claimed to be celibate. Through the 80′s he tried a variety of language including saying he was bisexual, but always clarified that he hated sex and hadn’t participated in sex in years. His most recent statement about it as of 2013:  “Unfortunately, I am not homosexual. In technical fact, I am humasexual. I am attracted to humans. But, of course … not many.” Which in todays language would make him ace or demisexual and biromantic. This ones a little shaky but I wanted to include it anyway.

Janeane Garofalo - A well known female comedian and actress (Wet Hot American Summer, Mystery Men, Dogma, Ratatoullie) who openly talks about her ace sexuality during her stand up routine. She’s quoted as saying in the documentary (A)Sexual - “I don’t have a fear of intimacy, I have sort of a genuine lack of interest”, adding jokingly, “which is not good for my boyfriend of ten years”

Edward Gorey - Iconic artist of The Doubtful Guest, The Gashleycrumb Tinies and dozens of other works of peculiar victorian style horror/surrealism in what he called ‘literary nonsense.’ In an older interview when asked about his sexuality he said:  “I’m neither one thing nor the other particularly. I am fortunate in that I am apparently reasonably undersexed or something … I’ve never said that I was gay and I’ve never said that I wasn’t … what I’m trying to say is that I am a person before I am anything else”
But in an interview collected in the 2002 book Ascending Peculiarity: Edward Gorey on Edward Gorey he agrees that the “sexlessness” of his work was a product of his asexuality.

Emilie Autumn - Artist and musician best known for her part in cult classic The Devil’s Carnival Emilie has self identified as asexual several times in interviews and unusually seems to be a sex-positive asexual who’s been with men and women.

Historical Figures who were ‘celibate’ and may have been asexual:

J.M. Barrie - Author of Peter Pan and other children’s stories, the famous author was known to be disinterested in sex. He married once, but the marriage remained unconsummated and eventually ended in divorce. Though no such rumors were ever apparent when he was alive, in more recent years there’s been concern that he was a paedophile because of his close friendship with the five sons of the Llewelyn Davies family, for whom Peter Pan and some of his other stories were written. There’s never been any evidence of this, and he stayed close friends with the boys into their adulthood. The best evidence of his asexuality is a quote from one of the Llewelyn Davies boys who, when asked if Barrie had ever behaved inappropriately with him, said: “I don’t believe that Uncle Jim ever experienced what one might call ‘a stirring in the undergrowth’ for anyone—man, woman, or child”, he stated. “He was an innocent—which is why he could write Peter Pan.”

T.E. Lawrence - The author and archaeologist upon which Lawrence of Arabia was based and one of the strongest cases for asexuality in a historical figure. He stated his total lack of or desire for sexual experience multiple times in personal letters and personal friends have also stated in interviews that Lawrence had no interest in men or women. He may possibly have been homoromantic, speaking tolerantly of such relationships in his writings.

Nikola Tesla - Famed inventor, engineer and scientist, Nikola was a life long bachelor and was said to have never pursued a single romantic relationship. He said his chastity was helpful to his studies and once claimed he could never be worthy enough for a woman, whom he considered to be superior to men in every way.

Kenji Miyazawa -  A celebrated poet and children’s author in Japan during the 1900′s, Miyazawa was never married or appeared to have any interest in romantic or sexual relationships. A close friend wrote that he died a virgin. Unfortunately, as he did not gain popularity until after his death, that speculation is all the evidence there is.

It was pretty tiring even trying to find this much, but if anyone has people to add to this list, please do! We need more asexual role models, and more evidence that we exist, and have always existed.

2032. “lets playing” is a major in several reputable universities across the country. markiplier is the head of the lets playing department at Yale. a student walks into his office. “sir,” she says, “a boy in my intro to battletoads class was making antisemitic comments towards me.”

“and you’re telling on him?” he questions in his way too charismatic voice.

“um,” she says, “yes?”

“well” he says. he positions a camera light onto his face and presses record on his very expensive camera. “i really just think you’re showing a lack of respect by trying to bring down this man who did nothing but–”

meanwhile, in an apartment in SoHo, the beat letsplayer movement is in full swing. cassandra, a cigarette dangling from her lips, sighs. “my mom still thinks i’m insane for leaving NYU”

“she’s insane,” says donovan, “the letsplayer major there is total corporate bullfuckery. they only care about the numbers, man, and defending each other’s near impossible to escape racist jokes (why is that so prevalent wtf), not doing new and interesting things with video games.”

“whatever,” she says, “once my series where i play fallout new vegas while suspended 30 feet in the air on a trapeze drops, then i’ll break it into the mainstream. then she’ll see.”

they make love, both secretly pretending the other is nick robinson

People seems to forget that observations have truths to them. All these kids, men, and white folk always asking for sources, stats, studies…. Well sometimes they simply aren’t there. Because no one has researched it, no one has the resources to do so. For example, there was that oncologist who noticed that his male patients always had support of their spouses but female patients were battling cancer on their own. He researched it and found it to be true, that men don’t stick through their marriages to a terminally ill partner but women do. But these observation don’t always go on towards being full studies. Some questions will never get researched because there isn’t interest or any perceived value to it, it won’t get funded. And half the time when it does, y'all come back and be like “lol ofc that was true. Did we really need a study to prove it??”

None of that makes the collective observations/experiences of a group any less true. Like when your gut reaction is to question someone’s actual lived experience, you aren’t being critical. You’re simply lack empathy. So don’t try to act like it’s cos you’re some superior rational being.

It continually baffles me that Elementary isn’t mentioned very often on tumblr. It’s like four seasons of televised, well-done Sherlock Holmes fanfiction. Just for starters:

  • It casts the criminally under-appreciated Lucy Liu as the show’s version of Watson
  • The show’s creator has been holding the line for four years that Sherlock and Joan will NOT hook up because “it’s too easy,” and the show “doesn’t need it.”
  • It doesn’t downplay Sherlock’s (canonical) addiction to heroin, and in fact turns his recovery and continued sobriety into an issue he constantly struggles with
  • Sherlock’s character is well-balanced as a rude, arrogant, anti-social misanthrope who is still capable of being kind and treats those few he considers friends with respect
  • Likewise, Joan is intensely empathetic and nurturing to people in need, but does not tolerate bullshit (Sherlock’s especially) and is perfectly capable of beating up grown man a hundred pounds heavier than her with a police-baton
  • Sherlock teaches Joan cane-fighting (a fighting style he had in the books), and is an avid beekeeper (another detail from the books)
  • Sherlock and Joan share a pet turtle named Clyde. He paints.
  • The cast orbiting Sherlock and Joan are diverse, three dimensional, and exist as more than cannon fodder for Sherlock to prove his superiority at every turn.
  • Ms. Hudson is a trans woman (played by a trans actress) that cleans up Sherlock and Joan’s place when she’s not cohabitating with her sugar daddies
  • The mysteries are pretty cool and creative detective stories
  • Lucy Liu herself has said that a non-sexual relationship is more “dynamic” and “interesting” to play and considers the lack of romance between them a “sacred” part of the characters
  • The show is unabashedly practical when it comes to sexuality: Sherlock has arrangements with women that are non-romantic but respectful, and has suggested that Joan is “dissatisfied” with traditional relationships and might be more inclined to an open or even polyamorous relationship
  • I can’t even ruin it but just…Moriarty is magnificent
  • Again: a male and a female lead in a deep, significant platonic relationship based on mutual respect.

I’ve been looking at my recent work lately (early 2016 onwards). Many people love it, and some people playfully mock it, and some really hate it and even think it does harm, while others message me saying it helped them through hard times.

The truth is, at some point I “science’d out” what makes a webcomic popular, and then did the thing. It took a bit of practice, but it’s not magic: Simplicity, relatability, and a 4-6 panel format. Boom. Organizations take you seriously now, and people love you now.

But, the thing about trying to be relatable, is you’re essentially trying to be a reflection of as many people as possible. You want people to see themselves in you, as if you are a mirror. You’re NOT a mirror though, you’re just another person on the other side of the glass, trying to make the same expressions and do the same poses. Your own personality and creative voice get lost in the process.

Here are interests that defined me as a cartoonist, that nobody knows or cares about at this point:

- Asian Horror and Korean Noir

- Used Experience/ User Interface Design

- Philosophy, esp. Buddhism

- Rap

- Indie Games, esp. narrative ones, and retro games

These things used to show up regularly in my comics, but they don’t anymore. Even the slightest step outside of VERY common knowledge/understanding gets so very, very severely punished that I cringe at the thought of it. Punished in terms of comic “reach” I mean, which is just means popularity.

At the same time, I have this dangling carrot of a thought in front of me: with enough finesse, maybe I can make comics that are both interesting and successful. Maybe it’s just a lack of skill that’s holding me back from persuading an audience to follow me into weird/”not common interest/knowledge” territory, and I just need to get better. Or, alternatively, maybe I can make these comics that get me a massive audience, and THEN see how many of them stick around for the weird stuff. Or do both at the same time, even though I’d just be lying to myself if I pretended that there’s ever enough time for that.

Been trying to find some way lately, out of this box that I’m in.

Anyway, totally non-aggro messages really poke me right in the heart, so I feel the need to be genuine with you all. If you’re going to send me messages, you should definitely be mean and insulting. That was my emotional defense mechanisms are up and I don’t have to actually think about it. Thank you for reading my work. :]

Tower of Dawn

So I think it’s time this fandom had a sit-down and talked some things out. Today’s topic: ableism. Before all of y’all start jumping on me and dismissing me and trying to say I have no right to talk about this, let me tell you a bit about myself.

I was born with spina bifida. For those of you that don’t know that is, it’s when a baby’s spinal chord and nerves don’t develop properly. I had my first surgery to help this condition when I was eight days old. The excess amount of scar tissue in my lower back had begun to wrap around my spinal chord, which for obvious reasons is dangerous. I had the same surgery when I was four years old, and that’s when my life changed forever. I’d been able to walk before using a leg brace, but due to a mistake by the surgeon, my left leg was left paralyzed. I was a normal (and I hate using the word normal here, normal is an absolutely useless construct of society, but for lack of a better word at the moment, bear with me) kid, mobile and able to move around as I pleased, and then I couldn’t. I’ve been using a wheelchair since then. I’m not telling you guys this because I want pity. I don’t. I’ve accepted it as part of my life, and I love myself just the way I am. This little explanation is here so you guys can understand exactly where I’m coming from when you read the rest of this post. So with all this in mind, here goes my not-so-little rant.

DISCLAIMER: I will be calling people out in this post and tagging them because I am done. 1000%, completely fucking done with this fandom. And if this causes a shitstorm, fuck it, because this needs to be said and this fandom needs to learn to stop being hypocritical pieces of crap.

I love these books. I love Sarah’s writing in general,  and I would read literally anything she wrote. These books, Aelin’s story, Feyre’s story, are so important to me. I don’t have words to describe how much they mean to me. I love talking about them and healthy and constructive conversations about them. And some of the jokes that have been made  by the fandom are some of favorites. I’ve made some of them myself. I’ll joke alongside all of you about wingspans and gold nightgowns for as long as you want.

I want to make something perfectly clear: this rant is in no way a reflection of my thoughts about her books. This post is exclusively about the fandom’s disgusting behavior.

So let’s start with this post that I saw earlier.

     Disability is not kinky.

For those of you that can’t understand that, let me repeat it.

     Disability is not kinky.

     DISABILITY. IS. NOT. KINKY.

This whole post is horrifyingly ableist. And before you guys start claiming that “I have disabled relatives, I can’t be ableist!” (@rowan-stole-my-heart, I’m looking at you. Remember that conversation last year? Nice to know you’re still disgusting), that’s like saying “I have African-American friends, therefore I can’t be racist!”, which is such an inherently flawed line of arguing that it would require a whole other post to address, so I’ll just say don’t try it. I can’t even begin to fathom the mental process all of these people went through to think that this was even remotely acceptable in any way, shape, or form, so let me break this down and explain to you why this isn’t.

This, my horrifyingly inconsiderate friends, is a form of fetishism. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, fetishism is the pathological displacement of erotic interest and satisfaction to a fetish. Now that you know what that is, let’s move on.

This whole fandom has been complaining about a lack of diversity in Sarah’s books since I joined the fandom. Diversity doesn’t just mean POC, which is exactly what this fandom conveniently forgets. Diversity includes POC, people with mental illness, people with physical disability, LGBT+ people, and so much more. And when Sarah finally adds someone who embodies a slice of that diversity, you all have the gall to reduce his situation to sex jokes. All I can say is how dare you. How dare you reduce someone’s life and reality to a kink, to something to be made fun of, to something that spices up your dash and makes it NSFW just because you wanted to make fun of a book cover you probably weren’t satisfied with. In doing so you are insulting the thousands upon thousands of people that are in the same situation. You’re reducing them – reducing me – to a fantasy that you can use and then dismiss the next moment, without regard for anyone’s feelings. Do you have any idea how difficult of a topic sex is for people with disabilities? We are laughed at for wanting sex. Our anxiety when it comes to that is ten times that of any able-bodied person, simply because we don’t fit into the box that society wants to shove everyone into. And you’re making it that much worse because you have the audacity to think the fact that someone can’t move their legs is funny.

It hurts. Reading that post hurt like hell. Because in your eyes – in society’s eyes – people like me aren’t human. We’re just something to ride, right? Yeah, I didn’t miss that little gem of a comment, @readinglikewildfire.

And because I know this is coming, no, Chaol isn’t just a character.

But you know what, I get it. It’s just sex, right? A small joke made, no harm done.

     Wrong.

You’re perpetuating yet another harmful concept cooked up by a disgustingly ableist society. Sorry, but your privilege and utter ignorance are showing. I will concede a bit and agree that we can treat fiction for what it is – something that isn’t real – up to a certain point. But you guys just crossed a line. For those of you saying that you feel guilty for laughing, you absolutely fucking should, because this shit isn’t funny.

The fact is if that post had been making fun of race or mental illness, then the fandom would have ripped these people to shreds and they would have been reported many, many times over. But it’s not, and instead I can count on my fingers the number of people that stood up to say this was wrong, because it’s just another wheelchair joke, right? Who cares? To those that did, I thank you from the bottom of my heart, especially @throne-of-omg-the-feels and @midnight-wonder. It’s nice to know there’s still some hope for humanity left. And to @nerdperson524, I agree with you. People do need a laugh, even those that live their lives stuck in chairs. But that post? It’s downright offensive.

So that’s it. I’m done blowing things out of proportion, as some of you will say. If you think I should have approached you privately and messaged you about this instead of publicly calling you out, then maybe, just maybe, you shouldn’t have PUBLICLY insulted mocked degraded an entire subset of the human population. And maybe that makes me a bad person. It certainly means I’m not being the bigger person. And I could honestly care less. I am tired. So sick and tired of constantly being the bigger person, of just staying quiet when I see things like this because what’s the use? The entire world is filled with this shit and it’s not like I can fight every time I see this kind of injustice. Nothing’s going to change, no matter what I do. But this? This is where I draw the line. Congratulations.

  • Persona 3: in the original game you play as a guy who can romance a gynoid and in the PSP version where you can play as a female, nothing changes in regards to that storyline so you technically can be gay but this may have been more the creators' lack of effort than a genuine interest in including LGBT characters.
  • Persona 4: you can't be gay but one of the main characters is heavily implied to be gay or bi and you can choose to hug one of your other male friends during a particularly emotional scene.

She also wants revenge cause hydra killed her family trying to get to her.

A/N: I made the reader a little older and i hope it’s not a problem. I really liked the request and i have a big idea how to continue this. I hope you like it and if so let me know in order to post a Part 2 and maybe more ;) Enjoy (and sorry for the mistakes)

It was Saturday and everyone in the Avenger tower was finally able to relax. The whole week represented a lot of missions, hours of training and a serious lack of sleep. Today had to be their day off. Nat was trying to find an interesting film on the TV but for now with no luck. Steve was in his room immersed in his thought for the present again. Tony, as always, was doing something in his laboratory with Bruce but this time they weren’t eager to make a progress so fast, so they were mostly telling each other jokes rather than work. Clint and Vision, unusually, were cooking whatever they could think of while Peter, Wanda and Thor were ready to become tasters. Everything was going fine until a familiar and detestable sound reached their ears.

“Good morning, Avengers.”, said Colson, “How are you in this sunny and beautiful day?”

“Oh, hey Son of Col! We are perfect.”, Thor answered with a bright smile on his face.

Now everyone was in the living room looking at the man in a black suit showing on the huge TV.

“If you have to tell us something good then go on, if not…better fuck yourself.”

“Well, I’m glad to see you too, Romanoff.”, the man looked with a smile at the red-head and then turned again to the whole gang, “Okay, I will go to the main part. Three days ago something extraordinary happened in woods north of Minnesota.”, bellow him appeared some photos, “As you see, some of the trees are burnt but definitely not from a fire, and this one.”, a photo showing something like spikes coming from the ground became in view.

“What the hell is this?”, Peter exclaimed, “How is that even possible?”

“That’s what you have to find out.”

“What?! No!”, Tony said angrily. “No! Not going to happen! We have a day off, Colson!”

“I know you do, but it’s important. Given the fact it’s like 7km away from a Hydra base, it may be someone used for an experiment. And we need only three or four of you to go and check.”, the man announced.

“I’m in!”, Wanda said with no hesitations.

“Count me, too”, Clint raised his hand to show that he’s ready.

“And me.”

“Peter, you are not going.”, Tony declared.

“Why not? We only have to check what’s going on, that’s all.”

“He is right Tony, and I will go, too.”, Steve stated and the four of them received the needed information.

“I’m sick of Mr. Stark treating me like a kid.”, Peter breathed out as he and the other three avengers were getting in the helicopter.

“But you are a kid, Pete.”, Steve sat down and put his belt on. The others followed his actions and soon they were high above the ground.

“That’s not what I mean. I may be a kid as I am that young but I can look after myself. I can do things just like you guys. I want and I can become a hero. It seems he…he doesn’t want me to be one.”

“You know that’s not true.”, Wanda tried to calm the boy down, “He is just afraid. You and either I are new in all of this, but he, Steve and Clint are deep in this dangerous world and know what it costs to be a hero.”

“Wanda is right, boy. I share Stark’s thoughts but not completely. If you want to be a hero, you must know that you risk the lives of your beloved ones – family, friends, girlfriends… We all have experienced the feeling of losing someone; we just don’t want you to go through this at that young age.”, Clint said while checking his arrows.

“But don’t worry, we’ll be beside your back.”, Steve patted Peter’s shoulder and till the end of the flight nobody spoke.

Two hours later the group was finally at the mentioned place. There was no place for the helicopter to land so the heroes had to get down with the help of a rope.

“So…which direction should we go?”, Clint questioned as he, the last one, got on the hard ground.

“North.”, Steve looked at his compass to make sure he was right and then led the gang towards the destination.

“Why would somebody stay so deep In the woods?”, Peter decided to break the silence.

“I don’t think they are just staying there, Pete.”

“They are hiding.”, Wanda respond back.

“Why do you think so?”

“Colson said that there is a Hydra base in the distance…I think whoever managed to escape, is now terrified and…and angry.”

“How can you be so sure? Hydra probably sent out somebody to see if he can cooperate and serve them.”, the way Steve retorted back showed he had no good feeling towards the organization.

“Because I can feel it!”

“What do you mean?”, Peter was so confused given the fact he was new and didn’t have much information about the Hydra thing and Wanda’s powers.

“Sometimes I can either get in your head or memories, or feel your emotions.”

Steve was about to say something back as his anger has somehow unlocked but Clint was the one to stop them from a fight.

“Guys! We have a work to do and right now it’s in front of us.”, Hawkeye showed the previously seen spikes, which were like 10 meters away from them, “Can you solve your problems when we are back in the base, and I am away from your childish behavior?”

Wanda and Steve looked a little ashamed while Peter was still standing there with a stupid expression on his face while trying to figure the things out. While going to the strange and kind of a scary place the gang saw some burnt trees, others had a burnt hand mark on them, others were still up but their leaves were dry. As they were becoming closer a change in the temperature was felt.

“It wasn’t that hot minutes before. I’m sweating in this costume and now my body is itching like crazy.”, Parker announced as he began scratching.

“It’s coming from the inside.”

The spikes coming from the ground were making something like a dome. The sharp sides were touching at the top, while at the bottom they were forming a circle. This ‘structure’ was definitely made for some sort of protection.

“Maybe the person is inside this thing.”

“I will try to break it. Step back.”, Wanda commanded and then, using her magic, she broke one of the spikes. As she did so, another one grew but not upwards. Instead the spike with its sharp side directed at her body was about to kill her if it wasn’t Steve to save her.  They both fell on the ground while the others two tried to save themselves from the other deadly formations that suddenly appeared from the ground.

“What the hell was that?!”, Clint exclaimed as he tried to catch his breath.

“I don’t know but we better find a way to…”, Peter was interrupted from Wanda’s scream to watch out. But his spider senses had already informed him about a danger. He jumped and used his webs to get on a high tree.  From up there he managed to notice the small aperture.

“I can get there and I will. Don’t try to stop me, we are losing time. When I get there you will attack and try to ruin this shield. Got it?”, the young boy notified the others through his micro earphone, “Let’s have some fun.”, Peter put his mask on and jumped from the tree. He landed just a meter away from the wanted place but as soon as his foots touched the spikes others began appearing. With his fastness he got in the hole seconds before getting seriously injured.

Although he has done it before, this time Peter made his superhero landing on his ass.

“Shit, that hurts.”, he cursed out but as soon as he did he was thrown against the strong wall made from the spikes.

“Tell me who the hell you are or I’ll kill you.”, a sweet, yet dry voice reached his ears. He looked up and saw a girl around his age standing defensive opposite him with a rage written on her face.

“I’m Pet-, shit! No, I’m Spiderman and I-”, but the boy was interrupted by being sent to the ‘wall’ again.

“You are lying! If Hydra is sending you, which I am sure about, you are gonna die in agony. They’ll finally see what I am capable of! That’s what they want, isn’t it?”, the girl screamed and clenched fists. Peter, who was thrown again, managed to see what she was doing and how she was capable of whisking him wherever she wanted. The guy soon realized she was a witch just like Wanda.

“I have no idea what you are talking about. We are here to help you”, as soon as those words were spoken, the girl was ready to make that boy shut up by repeating her previous actions but Peter was faster. He sent webs towards her hands, sticking them on one of the spikes. She tried to escape but with in vain. Peter used this opportunity to scan the girl. She was his height, with a (y/h/t) (y/h/c) hair, (y/e/c) now full with anger. Her clothes were dirty and scattered, her face slightly sunken maybe due to the lack of food.

Suddenly the whole structure was hit and a part of it ruined down. The girl used this as an opportunity to go away and this time she managed. She began running but the boy shoot web at her and stopped her. The witch fell on the ground and looked at the four people standing meters away.

“I’ll kill you!”, she screamed and sent a stone towards the group. Wanda was the one to create a shield with her magic and protect her friends. The girl’s eyes widen as she saw that somebody had powers just as her.

“Stop attacking us and just listen!”, Wanda spoken calmly.

“We are here to help you, don’t need to be afraid.”, a man with a soft voice gave his hand to help her stand. The girl looked up and was met by a dirty blonde hair and kind blue eyes.

Planetary beauty

I reblogged a post by whizkalibra a bit ago saying that one can be good looking without Venus influence.

Then, I saw someone else mention that, by the time astrology started to develop, Venus was associated with beauty in relation to the specific cultural standards of the time and place. Sadly, I can’t find that person’s post, but if someone was kind enough to link me to that person’s commentary/post, I’d be very grateful and happy to give the due credit.

While I wasn’t really on that mindset much, that without Venus influence there can’t be beauty, it got me thinking a bit, especially the commentary from the person I’m not able to source yet. I started to conceive what types or styles of beauty came from each planetary influence.

This is all entering on my personal perceptions, so anyone is invited to disagree openly and debate this. I’m still learning.

In my opinion, planetary dominance, the houses in which each planet resides, and the ascendant’s influence, weight more into someone’s appearance than the individual signs in which each planet resides.

The planets anyone has in the 1st house are of high importance to the individual’s appearance, much more if they’re conjunct ascendant, and also other planets that aspect the ascendant in the shape of trines and sextiles.

Regarding other planets; take the example of Jupiter. Jupiter “enlarges” things. My figure stems mostly from my mom’s Polynesian family. My mom, sister and others on that side of our family have average or somewhat small boobs. Well, guess whomst hast Jupiter in the house of the titties the 4th house; this binch who has dysphoria (RIP me).

Before I go on to describe how, to me, planets and ascendant signs affect someone’s appearance, there’s a few things I’d like to clarify:

~ I will not address this subject from the viewpoint of gender essentialism. There’ll be no use of explicitly gendered language or anything alike.

~ I don’t see this as “people with this placement are short”, I see it more as “people with this placement can be short, appear shorter than they actually are, or be short compared to their (biological) families”.

~ There’s a tendency to categorize features in racialized ways, like associating racialized features with “harshness”, of (de)sexualizing racialized features, or forcibly assigning masculinity/ femininity to certain racialized features. I aim to combat that.

With all that said, let’s go onto the (hopefully) interesting part! Just keep in mind that these descriptions come from the sources I’ve been exposed to + my observations of the people around me.

Sun dominance ☀ | Leo rising

These people embody the concept of “radiant beauty”. They’re the kind of people who light up a room when they smile or laugh, they tend to have eyes that are not that big, and that laugh on their own, with round cheeks that pop up with the tiniest bit of a chuckle, even if the face is thin.

Many have something about their hair that makes it stick out from their overall appearances. You cannot help but notice their sudden presence even if they’re not doing anything special to get anyone’s attention (Which is a burden for the ones that are shy or socially anxious). People, quite literally, gravitate around them one way or another.

They have very broad smiles, even when their mouths are small. The eyebrows tend to be arched in a graceful way, and like Arian risings/Mars dominant people, there’s sparks in their eyes, but softer than their Martian siblings.

Moon dominance ☽ | Cancer rising

Their type of beauty is radiant too, like Solarian people, but in a more subtle or silent way. It’s a radiance that shines through the night; softly, tenderly, but it’s still the only light you see regardless.

These people are known for having rounder faces or rounder features. Their smiles aren’t as broad and loud as Solarians, but somehow their pouty smiles still catch your attention. I’ve noticed that while Cancerian/Lunar hair isn’t necessarily big or flashy, it always looks soft.

They give angelic or peaceful vibes, and seem to have soft bodies. There’s something mellow about them. Like other water rising or ruled people, their eyes stick out tremendously. They tend to be big, and very “watery”, many times they’re hooded or deep-set. They don’t carry their hearts on their sleeve, they carry their hearts in their eyes, and an ocean too.

Mercury dominance ☿ | Gemini or Virgo rising

Mercurian people have youthful looks. Not in that they don’t age, in the way that you may look at an elderly person, but see them laugh, move and talk like a child. Their bodies may be old, but their minds and spirits are blissfully childish, the curiosity children are born with never left them.

If their Mercurian influence is more on the Gemini side, they’ll feel a bit bohemian, and like they’re “jumpy”. They’re not exactly restless like fire risings, but still seem like they’re always moving – even when they’re not at all.

If the Mercurian influence is more on the Virgo side, they’ll look more serious than their airy counterparts. They look put together and modest, and their eyes seem like they’re staring at everything around them to analyze it and learn about it. Geminis have the beauty of mischievous fae, Virgos of scholarly elves.

Venus dominance ♀ | Taurus or Libra rising

Venusian people/risings always have something “pleasant” about them, or some sort of grace in the way they move. They move somewhat slow, as Taurus is lethargic and Libra indecisive, but they somehow manage to imprint beauty on that even if they’re just wearing pajamas. They still manage to make it elegant.

The Taurean Venusian is more sensual and has a more tangible sort of grace; you can pin down easily that it simply looks pleasant to the eye, like with flowers. The Libran Venusian is more ethereal, you can’t quite put into words what it is that makes them so delicate, but it’s there.

Unless there’s planets or signs such as Scorpio/Pluto or Aries/Mars giving significant influence, the Venusian stare is soft, although it’s not less calculating than those of their sister signs/planets.

Mars dominance ♂ | Aries rising

People with strong Aries or Martian influence (sometimes Scorpian) have the beauty of a warrior. Their beauty can be intimidating or strong, at times coarse, and like I mentioned before, they spark. They look like they’re set ablaze.

They expel energy and passion with every breath they give. Their movements can be very well calculated, like a military tactician, or clumsy, like an impulse-ridden fighter; what all these people share is that they hardly ever move slowly.

Their beauty is about as loud as the beauty of Solarians/Leonians, but a lot less meant to attract (even if it does too), and much more meant to strike. Like Mercurian or Gemini-heavy people, they look youthful when this energy comes from Aries instead of Scorpio, but reminiscing a child that you can’t get to go to bed.

Jupiter dominance ♃ | Sagittarius rising

The symbol of Sagittarius is an arrow, and like arrows, a good word to describe the looks of Jupiterian/Sagittarian people, is “sharp”. They tend to have angular or pointier features, elongated features too, especially the nose and facial frame. Those who draw their Jupiterian energy from Pisces have less pointy shapes, but retain the elongated qualities. There’s a tendency to be taller.

The world is a bundle of open adventures to them, and they reflect their awe and thirst for experience in their expressions and movements. Everything seems to fascinate them, and they feel no need to hide it. Their movements appear as if they were trying to “touch” things, to reach out to the world that surrounds them.

Their laughs are thunderous, yet, even when they startle you, they don’t bother you. It’s an endearing laugh. Unlike Martians and Mercurians, they tend to look somewhat older than they are, they have an air of powerful and jovial wisdom.

Saturn dominance ♄ | Capricorn rising

Like Jupiterians, Saturnines have an appearance that denotes wisdom, but it’s a much heavier type of wisdom, as opposed to the jovial Jupiterian wisdom.

Their eyes, like sometimes Plutonian eyes too, don’t reflect much light, almost as if they were dry. The titan Saturn/Cronus is the devourer, and indeed, Saturnines/Capricorn risings tend to have bigger mouths, even when the lips are thin, and their cheeks many times are hollow. They have a preference for more conservative, timeless looks.

There’s a particular type of silent strength with these people; they carry heavy elder wisdom, but do so with such calm and grace that it’s admirable. This is a mature, discrete and simple beauty! However, this beauty gets less traditional or more defying when the Saturnine airs come from Aquarius instead of Capricorn.

Uranus dominance ♅ | Aquarius rising

Uranus is the planet of rebellion, so it’s to be expected for these people to have unique and quirky styles of beauty. They enjoy disruption, which isn’t something necessarily violent! Just something that breaks the mold.

These people tend to have “contradictory” features; such as highly angular sharp features paired with a soft set of eyes. I’ve noticed that many have sharply pointed and narrow noses. Their stares are always inquisitive, they appear to be scanning you for information at all times, but not in an intimidating way (Scorpio) or in a criticizing way (Virgo).

They are like the sky; they look distant, but not for a lack of interest, it’s the complete opposite of that – they want to watch over and see how the world plays out in front of their eyes, to learn and internalize from it, from you and me.

Neptune dominance ♆ | Pisces rising

The thing that really sets Neptunians/Pisceans apart from Lunarians/Cancerians, is that the former seem so lost in a far away space, so dreamy and sleepy, that their watery expressiveness is much more aloof, blurry and fuzzy.

They have something soft to them as well, but the style is more slippery. They glitter beautifully, but like a fish, if you try to touch them, they’ll dodge. Neptunian/Piscean beauty looks like it comes from a far away fantasy world, full of romance and magic. They have very glossy eyes, however, there’s not an inclination for them to be big as there’s with Lunarians/Cancerians.

They instinctively pull their stare away from yours when the two meet. They move indecisively, but steadily, like a changing river. They have the beauty of sleep in themselves, and, like Taureans, often move slowly. It’s to be expected from the two signs that surround the restless Aries!

Pluto dominance ♇ | Scorpio rising

Plutonian/Scorpian people are (in)famous for one thing about their appearance; their intense, penetrating, piercing eyes, you name it. According to my experience, most of these people can go from their eyes looking entirely opaque, to looking extremely watery from one second to another. Their eyes are usually sharp or almond shaped, up-pointing.

There’s something alluring about them, or that might even look dangerous. They ooze sexuality, not in an obvious way usually; it’s an air of underlying passion that can only be unleashed within intimacy.

They’re both silent and loud; despite their silence and compulsive privacy, they still attract the sights of others like a magnet, many times against their own efforts. The Plutonian/Scorpian beauty is deadly, it stings and intoxicates, but it also mesmerizes you.

Does anyone else fill up with dread when you realise your guy friend has a crush on you, because you’re now going to be socially obligated to provide him with lots of time and emotional work if you don’t want to suffer social sanctions for not fulfilling your gender’s role of managing men’s feelings?

Men who are attracted to women routinely make their crushes a problem for the women they’re aimed at. Many men see a woman’s interest as a given and are offended when they don’t automatically get it.  If they possess the basic understanding that they’re not entitled to her interest - which is honestly pretty rare - they still generally feel entitled to her time and emotional work.

They expect explanations, a chance to ask often-invasive questions about her lack of interest, and perhaps even a chance to convince her to “give him a chance”. They expect to be let down in the gentlest, most complimentary way possible, to have their feelings managed every step of the way by a woman who did not ask for this interest or the job of guiding him through his feelings about it.

This is one form of male entitlement, a near-ubiquitous form of misogyny that’s so embedded it often goes unnoticed. Men, think critically about the expectations you have of a woman you’re interested in. Are you trying to make processing your feelings her responsibility, or are you managing them on your own like a respectful adult?

No one likes to be rejected. But your interest in someone doesn’t obligate them to comfort you, provide you with therapy, or listen to heartfelt confessions they don’t consent to listen to. Your interest doesn’t mean they owe you.

Find someone who consents to giving you that emotional work; don’t demand it from someone you’ve trapped in an awkward situation. Let “no” be enough.

Tokyo Dome without Onew (Fan account)

I decided to write this fan account since I know a lot of my friends on tumblr are just as worried as I am about shinee, shinee5, shinee4 and onew and what his scandal might mean for the future of shinee. This is how I experienced the weekend, so nothing is facts, but what I saw and interpreted and I know everyone I talked to who were there pretty much felt the same way, so I’m confident enough about it to write about it.

So firstly. How did the fans react?

I lined up for 3 ½ hours on Saturday and I saw LOTS of onew merch in the hands of shawols. A lot of his merch sold out too. He and taemin are still very very popular among jshawols. I did not feel any lack of support outside of the dome, I was very excited to see that many had onew stuff or strips in their bags with all members names. Nothing indicated that jshawols are done with onew, generally speaking, of course.

So the concert; shawols DID cheer noticeably louder for Onews vcr segments than the rest. I myself yelled onew a lot, because I yelled all the members names and I personally had no reason to not - but generally in the first day I felt like jshawols tried to support Onew extra in their own way - jshawols are quiet and don’t scream much in public (I’m sure I appeared as a foreign douche)

On Sunday however I don’t think onew was particularly cheered more for or not. His merch also weren’t sold out the same way as first day. What does this mean? That Saturday was a sad concert. But we needed it. We needed to be sad. And shinee needed to be sad. But in Sunday everything was happier. Because we got it out of our system; shinee too. So Saturday was definitely the “Onew day” where Sunday was “Tokyo Dome fun” day.

As I already mentioned in earlier posts, on Saturday jonghyun and key were visibility affected. Jonghyun seemed absent minded
For a large part of the concert, and like he didn’t fully enjoy it. He was also the member to mention that “today they where there without onew”. This was the only time, expect for Taemin in the end of Saturday , mentioning anything about Onews absence. They did NOT mention anything about it Sunday; but again, Sunday was the “good” day and there was no need to rub salt into the wound.

Some of you may have seen that key actually posted a instagram photo commenting on the fact that he cried; saying he sometimes gets tears into his eyes watching shawols. I think he felt needed to address it because he so obviously cried hurt tears. He bite his lip, looked up into the corners or down into ground, all the physical signs when someone is sad but trying to keep it in.

Jonghyun, taemin and Minho weren’t crying during winter wonderland, but my friend said she’d categorize it as crying even though no tears fell, because they all had wet eyes and looked sad. Not moved, but sad. But especially Jonghyun and key; difference is that key tried to cover it up, Jonghyun absolutely didn’t. He was sad and he had no problem showing; this probably rubbed off on fans. Generally the fan chants were sloppy or non existent and the cheering was pretty low too, even for jshawols - this I was told by my friend beside me who went to several JAT arena concerts.

They fanchants were a lot better Sunday.
I still want to give credit to 2min for trying so, so, SO hard on Saturday. We all know Minho is always hyper but taemin was Minho level this time around. A lot more than usual, not that he’s not hyper or happy normally but he was clearly working on making up for what the concert was lacking.

But what lacked Saturday was made up for on Sunday; as I said I felt like we got it out of our system. Myself included. I was sad, anxious and even cried out of sadness during the end on Saturday but was super happy and having a lot of fun on Sunday. I did have fun during Saturday too but there was many bits where I’d feel sad when they did a particular part with no onew. But we all knew what to expect Sunday so everything went smoother. It is however true that Saturday was sold out and Sunday was not - me and my friends could easily point out sections on the 2 floor with empty seats and the seats around me were also empty. But there was still lots of thousands of fans. We’re not talking huge empty sections. But visible empty seats in the crowd, yes. But it was okay and when the shawol ocean was still beautiful and it wasn’t noticeable when the light went out.

As for shinee and this concert in generally..

Honestly I feel like these Tokyo dome concerts sended a statement from shinee to shinee world. They had plenty of time to rearrange things but they didn’t. At some performances they would have light on a empty spot. Onews spot. Everything would go black besides that spot. They did not cover him, they did not rearrange their places in choreographies and only had a dancer if physically required (Get the treasure, everybody etc). The VCRs played heavily on “shinee and their memories”. They showed about shinee members talking about another member and showing pictures of that member from debut. Having those debut-onew pictures flashing hurt. Especially on the first day when we didn’t know.

And the fact that Jonghyun and key was visible affected and that SM / SHINee did not bother to fix the holes, and there were holes that could easily have been fixed; to me it’s a message.

This is what you get without onew.

Taemin, Jonghyun, Key and Minho are fantastic entertainers and professionals and I do not believe for one second they couldn’t have handled rearrangements etc. This was a choice. To show that, if you pull out a member from shinee, This is what you get; a huge, visible HOLE in the team.

This is not a fact, This is what I got from it and you can do with it what you want, but there was a lot of decisions that didn’t make sense about this concert, especially the fact that they pulled out solo performances when onews absence would only make solos so much more a good idea to include so they wouldn’t have a whole setlist with songs where he was missing. Stuff that just weren’t fixed and I believe it wasn’t fixed because they wanted to let us know

Shinee is five

So if they’re only four, there’s gonna be a hole in every performance

A hole they aren’t interested in trying fix.

So I believe this was a message, and I sincerely believe and support in what taemin said at the end of Saturday; that next time they’ll be in Tokyo dome he hopes to return as five. That has nothing to do with taking sides or not taking matters seriously. That’s something I sincerely can justify for him wishing for, because there’s a unfixable hole in their team without him.

These concerts didn’t lack talent or professionalism; it lacked that magically shinee spark. And that’s what you get from shinee when you break their team. I really believe that’s what these concerts showed us. And yes Sunday went better and yes, they were happier. But that doesn’t erase all the sadness showcased on the first day.

Here’s to hope that shinee will never have to perform again as only 4 with the fear of never returning as 5 again, because it’s really draining them, and it drains their overall performances.

Really consider the SJM hate before you take it too seriously

You guys have to realize that she was pushed so fucking hard to produce those books and i’m positive that she realizes that it has some obvious weaknesses.

While I tend to not agree with anti-SJM I can recognize that the book had some mistakes. It’s what happens when an author is under a ginormous amount of pressure by herself, her fans, her publisher and probably her agent. This fandom has A LOT going on and she is at the absolute middle of it. Before you criticize her maybe stop and make sure it was REALLY Sarah who made that decision. If it was, then fine, be mad. But she owns the characters. She is the characters. If you don’t like it, then I don’t know what to tell you. Don’t read it.

SJM does not intentionally kill of characters of color in her books. She’s not a white supremacist. She doesn’t hate POC. It’s a YA novel, not literature. Lower your expectations for the social justice agenda. She was not trying to make a political statement. I understand that she fell short on this end but she did not do it on purpose. It was a lack of foresight. It sucks. Most of us recognize that. There are larger, more prevalent racial problems than a YA novel with some questionable diversity.

SJM does not idolize have abusive love interests. Rhysand and Rowan are not abusive partners. Let me repeat, so you can all hear me. RHYSAND AND ROWAN ARE NOT ABUSIVE PARTNERS. Their characters are real, which allows them to make real mistakes. Should Rowan have hit Aelin in HOF? No. Should Aelin have been acting like an entitled brat? No. Should Rhys have asked Mor before making a deal with her attacker? Yes. But these actions do not define these characters. Their mistakes are few. They do not try to control or manipulate their partners. They act as equals to their partners. They are accepting of their partners. They are loving to their partners. They are supportive of their partners. Case closed. Moving on.

anti-SJM blogs- Respect authors. Respect their work. If you don’t like it, learn from it. Take it in stride. Understand it. Understand opposing viewpoints. Have some class. Stop being dicks.
