I have always loved stickers, from those A+ Apple stickers to those scratch and sniff stickers, the vending machine stickers and promotional stickers, then the tagged and pieced out hello my name is… and USPS shipping stickers, by then we knew them as labels. I recently was re-introduced to the sticker market, people are doing it a little different now with custom hand drawn/made stickers, I think it’s great. Makes you appreciate the sticker more, you might be a little more careful where you choose to place it. I feel like a kid again! It’s kind of like collecting those old Cabbage Patch stickers with tons more originality and effort. Slaps, stickers, labels whatever you choose to call them, I look forward to much more of this kind of originality and effort.
Lake Effect 2013: Summer Kick Off Miller Beach Community of Gary, Indiana
When: June 15th Time 12pm-8pm … Location: Lake St. in Miller Beach Community of Gary, IN
Artist and Graffiti Writer: ISH MUHAMMAD from Crazy Indiana Style Artists has partnered with the Miller Beach Arts and Creative District (MBACD) for Lake Effect 2013: Summer Expo.
Lake Effect 2013, is an all-day celebration of street art, music, food and performance. More than 30 graffiti writers will transform Lake Street into a living, breathing work of art.
Along with the graffiti event, Lake Effect 2013 will feature more than 50 other artists in the MBACD’s first Pop Up Event of year.
Accomplished artist, Tom Torleumke, will have his work exhibited in the Marshall J. Gardner Center for the Arts.
Karren Lee, president of the MBACD, said she couldn’t be more excited about this event. “Having Ish and 30 plus graffiti artists transform Lake Street into a work of art is one of the most exciting things that I can remember in the 46 years I’ve lived in Miller,” she enthused. “I’ve seen-first-hand the impact that street art can have on a community when I visited Wynwood in Miami. The walls are beautiful, the streets are alive, and it has created the kind of buzz that the MBACD has been striving to do since its founding in 2011. It’s going to be a fun weekend and we hope that people will come out to lend their support to the artists, musicians, and participate in our 9th Pop Up Art event.” The event is free and open to the public.
