no. 1 delinquent

I miss the days in this fandom when we all made fun of Flarke, laughed at the cute Jonty scenes, had sassy Bellamy Blake and doctor Clarke Griffin, where Lincoln left Octavia flowers and Raven blew shit up. I just miss when they were all in the forest kicking ass and being The 100.

Queercore: A Brief History

Throughout the early 80’s, queer themed punk songs weren’t found often, the few that were released mostly came out of the U.S. hardcore scene and the U.K. anarcho – punk scene. What kicked off the queercore genre was a single zine, “J.D.’s”  published out of Toronto by G.B. Jones, musician currently playing with Opera Arcana and Bruce Labruce, filmmaker most recently creating Pierrot Lunaire. J.D.’s #1, originally meaning “Juvenile Delinquents” Issue 1 featured pinups of punk band members, a story of two dudes as each others wedding dates titled “J.D. at the wedding”, an assortment of raunchy drawings and photographs, some with anarchist themes, and a comic of two boys falling in love, and notably a top ten list of “homocore” songs. J.D.’s had 8 issues, a cassette mix, and several movie nights from 1985-1991 before it’s end, How influential this zine was cannot be exaggerated, it inspired several other zines of the same themes to be launched, some of which later turning to queercore specific record labels for the genre that J.D.’s had also kicked off.

The genre had the distinct characteristics of resistance to the self imposed submission and segregation that the queer community faces. Over time Queercore became associated with paganism, anarchism, and riot grrl. During the 90’s a “second wave” of queercore bands emerged, including Tribe 8, Pansy Division, and Anti Scrunti Faction. Also occurring in the 90’s was Spew, the first queercore zine meeting, held in Chicago, the organizer, Steve Lafrench was stabbed outside of the event but had a speedy recovery and the event was largely considered a success. Leading to Spew 2, held in ’92 hosted in LA, and Spew 3, occurring in Toronto, ’93. “Homocore Night” was hosted in Chicago by Mark Freitas and Joanna Brown to serve as a monthly venue for queercore bands to perform. This was the first of many places to create monthly shows and clubs for the scene.

Throughout the 2000’s the scene noticeably stales up a small amount, with the scene now centralized in LA’s Silver Lake neighborhood. However, interestingly, a book is published in 2005 called “Homocore: The Loud and Raucous”. The scene picks up again significantly in the 2010’s, as the internet is more widely accessible and making music incredibly easy to publish. Creating what is arguably the “fourth wave” of queercore with an extreme D.I.Y. feel and more bands experimenting with genres other than hardcore.

The Characters of the 100: A Brief Summary pt. 2 (pt.1)

The Delinquent Boys (Jasper Jordan, Monty Green, John Murphy, Nathan Miller)

“So what do you want me to say? I’m sorry? I’m not. And if I have to take us down to a cosmic Adam and Eve, I will do it.”

God Ian is such a good actor. So underrated. I’ve said it before and I’m going to say it again: he is the ONLY actor imo who stood out to me in the Pilot.

The only one.

There is bad acting in this episode and there is mediocre acting, but his is actually good.

                                     My name’s ‘Blurryface’

and I care what you think

The 100 is a hard show to watch nowadays if you crave the season 1 togetherness of the delinquents.

Season 3 has been rather difficult for me because, in the end, I fell in love with the 100 because I loved delinquents and I loved their dynamics with each other. Season 2 was a slight break from that, but for the most part the delinquents were together in Mount Weather and for half the season Bellamy, Clarke, Raven, and Octavia (the main four, in my mind) were together. It sucked to see the group separated but putting the characters in new environments and situations proved to be interesting. However, after a season like season 2, I craved for the group to be together again and I think that is why I enjoyed the first episode of season 3 so much. Other than Clarke, the gang was reunited.

This has not maintained thus far in the season. The group may mostly be physically together but their storylines splinter them apart.

Monty, Jasper, Miller, Raven, characters that have been there since the beginning, are given minimal attention compared to Lexa, a guest star, who is constantly awarded with major plot lines that keep Clarke from the rest of the group and it’s just so damn frustrating

Clarke and Octavia were finally together and they barely talked– I understand more important things are going on but those girls had a friendship that got fucked last season and good writing would be to address that and explore how they are going to repair it. Character relationships are just as important, if not more important, than plot.

We have not had one interaction, one scene, one anything with Clarke and Raven so far this whole season. Clarke and Raven, one of my favorite relationships on the show, has been completely sidelined. We don’t even get them mentioning each other.

Raven is completely isolated in general. She doesn’t really interact with anyone but Abby, when these people are meant to be her friends?

Raven and Bellamy are great friends and yet they have barely interacted in recent episodes, which is flat out unrealistic. How does she feel about Bellamy’s turn around and his relationship with Pike? Raven is a strong woman with strong opinions, you can’t tell me she doesn’t have one about one of her best friends doing a complete 180.

Why did we not receive a single scene of Bellamy and Raven grieving together for Gina? Why didn’t we see Raven grieving for Gina at all? Or Bellamy for that matter?

Monty deserves a major plot line.

Miller deserves far more attention.

And they all deserve to be together.

Relationships drive shows and yet the 100 is ignoring the fantastic groundwork and foundation they set up in season 1 in exchange for plot and drama.

I can only hope that this nonsense ends with the mid-season finale.

GRAYLU WEEK 2015: Smile (Day 5)

High School AU

Lucy Heartfilia was transfer student in the academy. It has been 2 months since her transfer but up until now she was still unable to adapt and make friends even though she was trying her best. One day after doing some errands given by her homeroom adviser, Lucy was about to go home but suddenly 5 upperclassmen cornered her. They forcefully took her into an empty classroom to execute their evil plan. Lucy fought back however they were so strong and her strength alone was not enough against 5 boys. They were about to unbutton her blouse when unexpectedly one them got knocked down.
