no symphony but there you go

1. I know letting go may feel like hitting pavement but sometimes staying is like getting hit by a train you’ve seen coming for miles.
2. There are symphonies that are screaming it is going to get better. Listen to the music.
3. The most fight you’ll ever feel is from inside your heart.
4. Nostalgia is only good for telling you bedtime stories. Don’t let it tuck you in at night, don’t let it keep you warm.
5. Keep the moments that you wish could live on for a gazillion years close to your heart, never let them burn out.
6. You’ll find someone that’s not them. You’ll love again and it’ll be pure and significant in its own way.
7. They remember it all. They’ll see how much you impacted their lives much later.
8. You may hate high school, but it’s when it’s almost over that you get flashes of when you were young and passed notes with your first love in art class and had talks with teachers that really mattered and you’ll want it to slow down. Take it in, there’s good in everything.
9. Sometimes the one that was your perfect match will be the one to watch you burn.
10. What’s meant to be yours will always find its way home.
11. It’s okay to change without them. Remember that you are the main character of your story.
12. Music cures it all.
13. Telling the story of how I fell in love with you still warms me from the inside out. Teach me how to let go of you.
14. Falling out of love makes you feel like you’ll never want to do it again, but the feeling of your heart dropping when he tells you he’s wanted you all these years is worth the stab at the end.
15. You jump off the cliff hoping there won’t be daggers at the bottom, and when you’re young you think you know how much it’ll hurt. When it comes, you’ll realize you had no clue.
16. My biggest fear was not being with you. I’m becoming someone without you, and it doesn’t feel right.
17. The nicer you are, the more beautiful you become.
18. One day you’ll meet again, and it’ll be just as scary and beautiful as the first time.
19. You’ll find your person. You may not recognize them at first because they’re not as shiny as they are in the movies, but you’ll know by the calm they bring.
20. Thank God for him.
21. The boy who runs in my dreams isn’t as dishonest. He holds my hand whenever I need to feel less alone and I sit around his kitchen table and talk to his mother about poetry. She goes on to say something about how statistically people are more afraid of love than anything else and the things I don’t say- tell her all there is to know about me. That I’m afraid beyond measure of what love can do to a person. Because I spent the last two years loving someone who didn’t know anything other than tearing apart the sole purpose of my existence. The boy who runs beside me in my dreams convinces me that love isn’t always teeth and bite marks. In my dreams, my scars aren’t there because I never tasted a bitter love before. The boy in my dreams loves me enough to let me meet his mother and destroys the idea that love is what I came here to die for.
22. Maybe love stays, maybe love can’t. Maybe love shouldn’t.
23. I glance off in another direction, but I always glance back at you.
24. Things that are sweet like this attract the worst kind of hungry.
25. I don’t think you’ll ever realize you changed everything for me.
26. I found faith that summer. The lips told stories I fell asleep to, the hands promised to hold on. But bliss is temporary when you pull your hands away from your eyes, and summer only lasts 3 months.
27. Let it pass; April is over, April is over. There are all kinds of love in this world, but never the same love twice.

Classical music listening tips:

- Just because it starts off slow and pretty doesn’t mean it’s not going to get seriously intense later on. In fact, there’s probably more of a chance.

- Most pieces average about 8-15 minutes long. Entire symphonies can last roughly an hour, but you can always find separate movements. Be patient and wait. Even if you already know it and just want a specific part, just enjoy the build-ups, man.

- There’s all kinds. Anything from dark Russian waltzes to peppy English marches, to thousands of symphonies by various composers. Even if you don’t like a certain tone, there’s always more and if you find something you like, and if you listen on YouTube, the recommendations are pretty good at linking similar styles.

- Non-lyric stuff is great for studying, relaxing, or just spacing out.

- In the quiet parts, try to avoid turning up the volume too loud (but of course if you need to, then 2 clicks or so should do), unless you want to jump a foot out of your seat when the dynamics suddenly change.

- Cool stuff to get you started that you might recognize from cartoons or movies or something:

Johann Strauss II - The Blue Danube Waltz , Tchaikovsky - Waltz of the Flowers , Verdi - Aida - Grand March , Vivaldi - Four Seasons , Pachelbel - Canon in D Major , Frederic Chopin - Nocturne In E Flat Major, Op.9 No.2 , Gioachino Rossini : The Barber Of Seville - Overture , Rossini - William Tell Overture Final

- “But it’s so boring and quiet and slow!”

Well, there’s always the ones who skip the intro, if you’d like that better:

Khachaturian - Masquerade Suite - Waltz , Franz Schubert - Marche Militaire , Johannes Brahms - Hungarian Dance No. 5 , Mozart-The Marriage of Figaro , Wilhelm Richard Wagner-Flight of the Valkyries

- It’s not just old, dead guys either- there’s cool modern stuff too:

Blue Shades - Frank Ticheli , Into the Storm - Robert W. Smith , Equus By Eric Whitacre , The Hounds of Spring - Alfred Reed

- A few pieces I personally like:

George Gershwin - An American in Paris , Dmitri Shostakovich - Waltz No. 2 , Rossini - The Thieving Magpie Overture , Franz Liszt - Hungarian Rhapsody No.2 , Bach - Air on G String , Prokofiev - Dance of the Knights , Shostakovich - Symphony No 7 in C major, Op 60 - Gergiev , Gustav Holst - The Planets, Op. 32 , Mussorgsky - Pictures at an Exhibition , Tchaikovsky - 1812 Overture

- I can’t even really think of every piece I like just off of the top of my head right now. There’s just so much out there! So go out there and listen, and have fun.

Normal Horoscope:

Aries: All symphonies, whether they be harmonious or discordant, will end.

Taurus: Even the prettiest roses have thorns, some things are worth the nicks and scratches aren’t they?

Gemini: You best is all anyone can ask for, but that doesn’t seem to stop them does it? Nod, smile, agree, then do whateverthefuck you were gonna do anyway.

Cancer: Rome wasn’t built in a day and a lot of the people building it had second thoughts over whether it was going to be a nice place to hang out or not. Give yourself time, you have plenty.

Leo: Bravery is a rare thing, but it can often be substituted for a combination of stupidity, stubbornness, and sheer blind luck.

Virgo: Just because there is enough dead skin in your mattress to build a second you doesn’t mean you should. That would be fucking weird.

Libra: The stars think you’re a pretty cool cat. Print out this horoscope as an official certificate of coolness.

Scorpio: A rolling stone gathers no moss, and with modern technology you can buy moss by the pound for like 39.99 a bag.

Ophiuchus: Everything you know is probably wrong, but that won’t really change anything about the world so there’s no reason to worry.

Sagittarius: The stars know you’re having a hard time. Just know that the world can only hit you one day at a time. Try not to let thoughts of tomorrow ruin today. It’ll be here when it gets here.

Capricorn: Today I gave myself a second degree burn by spilling throat coat tea on my hand. What may soothe one problem may cause redness, blisters, and rashes for another.

Aquarius: Tonight is the perfect night to take tasteful nudes under cover of the starlight and never show them to anyone but yourself. The stars shine for nobody, but they are still beautiful.

Pisces: The problem with setting yourself on fire to keep others warm isn’t that it hurts. Its that eventually, you burn out.

Victor is selfish and unobservant. Yuuri is petty and passive-aggressive. They’re still in love.

Question and Answer by chellethewriter [T, 11k]
Viktor is growing old, and his competitors seem to be growing younger and younger. Thus, with every passing year, Viktor finds fewer familiar faces at his Grand Prix banquets, and he wonders whether his attendance has become pointless. What he doesn’t realize, however, is that one unfamiliar, alcohol-reddened face can make the whole night more than worthwhile. Part of the series Even Ice Gods Can Melt [M, 44k] <

Summary:

Maestro Hux of the Erste Orden Sinfonie has survived the big gala concert and won over obstreperous piano virtuoso Kylo Ren and hopefully his board of directors too. But now Ren’s gone back to New York, and mysterious rumblings from the wings suggest that perhaps not all is as serene as it seems.

Notes:

This is for @ceruleancynic, with an enormous amount of love.

And because I’ve never been asked so many times for a sequel by so many people, and because let’s face it, I wanted to come back to this too.

Thanks to my section leaders: @byzantienne, @saltandlimes, @crashwong, @zombiebrainsoup, @kat2107, @schaloime, @skylocked, and every single one of you who boosted, recced, liked, commented (OH THE COMMENTS, I adore you all), kudosed, painted, or just came and talked to me about it. This was my own personal Unfinished Symphony for seven months and it would never have gotten over the line without you.

when the leader of the bad guys sang, something soft and soaked in pain, i heard the echo from his secret hideaway.

i’ve always been intrigued by the leader of the bad guys. he spends his time hiding in a secret place turning pain into music, knowing that his four lonely walls are the only witness to his madness. it can be scary to show other people the inside of your mind, so we let go only when we’re alone, and we scream to our four walls because we know they will protect our screams and echo them back to us. we break down only when no one is there to see it, but sometimes we forget to close the door and the whole world hears our tortured symphony. sometimes other people hear the dismal chords we strum when we think we’re alone, though we try so hard to hide it. when it’s only your four walls that declare you insane, it’s much easier to crank out those dismal chords. it’s harder to do so outside of your house, and in front of an audience. it’s like we become entirely different people when we’re alone in our four walls, and sometimes the only person we have to keep us company is the leader of the bad guys. he’s built his house in our shadows, and he grows stronger in the dark.

sometimes he plays music.

his music comes from somewhere within us, from the place in all of us that’s become his home. he plays the dismal chords that we hear echoing off of his four walls, the same chords that become our catharsis. the leader of the bad guys is a dark part of us, but he’s the reason that we make art and the reason we play music. he’s our motivation. we know that we have to move our demons somewhere outside of our heads if we want to survive, and the way we do that is by creating. but if he’s driving us to create art that lessens our pain, is the leader of the bad guys really all that bad?

is this the reason why even though he’s the embodiment of my pain and everything i fear, it’s still so hard to let him go?

A/N –  I’m incorporating two challenges into this part of the story.  @kittenofdoomage’s Classic Movie Challenge and @winchesterprincessbride’s 800 Follower Celebration.  My prompt for Rhi’s challenge was “I mean, funny, like I’m a clown? I amuse you?” from the movie Goodfellas.  My prompt from Jen’s challenge was the lyric “Well I’ve never prayed, but tonight I’m on my knees, yeah.” From The Verve, Bittersweet Symphony.  Thanks Rhi for doing your challenge, and congrats again to Jen for hitting 800 well-deserved followers!  You all should go follow both of these lovely ladies if you’re not already!

As always, feedback is appreciated! Please let me know if you’d like added or removed from the tags list.

Five days.  It had been five days since the morning you had told them you were going on a supply run. They were now one hundred and twenty-six hours into what should have been a one-hour trip.  And they were no closer to finding out what had happened to you than they had been when they first realized something had gone very wrong. And it was killing him.

“Again,” he said calmly.

You heard the hum of electricity and your entire body seized up so suddenly you couldn’t even scream. V signaled for Carl to cut the power, and you slumped back against the metal table, panting.  He leaned forward and pressed around the spot on your right shoulder where electrical tape was keeping the end of a frayed wire tightly to your skin.  Another wire was attached to your left ankle in the same manner.  Gently, his fingers peeled back the tape, revealing angry red and blistered skin around the site of the electrical burn.

History is weird

Like things are happening in one place and you realize that other amazing things were going on at the same time.

Like when Mozart was composing his “Paris” Symphony, America was fighting for it’s independence.

Or how Macbeth was written only a year before Jamestown was established.

Also Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was only a year younger than Alexander Hamilton….

this song is so……BIG. like sonically and conceptually as far as the lyrics go, it’s huge and explosive dude. I feel like if you listen to it with the right headphones on you would be engulfed in it and like suffocated. I could totally hear a symphony playing it or something I don’t know I have high hopes for this one little song and my baby Taylor’s voice has matured so much and her range on this song is just….I’m in love.

If you voted third party

This is not your fault. You did not make Trump president. You did not swing or spoil the election.

But you will be blamed for it.

If you voted third party and haven’t been public about it, keep it that way for a little bit. I know it sounds like selling out but – and this is not an exaggeration –   this election has been a symphony of bullying by Clinton stans who have shamed, shunned, smeared and silenced third party voters. It will only get worse as they need to find a scapegoat.

If they didn’t have you to blame, they would need to blame themselves for running an historically weak candidate against a demagogue. They are never going to accept their own responsibilty in the failure of their candidate.

So keep your heads down. Turn off anon asks. Clear your dashes of political stuff.

I was planning on ending this blog tomorrow, but I’ll stick around for a few days.

It’s okay to take a few hours off from this nightmare. We all need it.

Please, if you feel too overwhelmed by all of this, tune out of all media websites and apps and prepare yourself tea, put yourself to bed and close your eyes, or read a light-hearted positive book, watch a beautiful movie or listen to some appeasing symphonies, reach out to friends or family or even think of puppies or kittens for hours on-end. It’s okay to do all that. It’s okay to tune out in such circumstances, you’re not a faint-hearted for doing so, you entirely deserve this time. Especially get the sleep you need if you’ve been up all night. Of course if you have to go to work or school, then maybe listen to some soothing music on the way there, and if the talk of your colleagues and schoolmates about this election stresses you out, please do not hesitate to take a day off or to tell them so. I’m sure there will be many people on edge today and they will understand. You are allowed to not want to talk about it or read about it for the day. It’s a difficult topic to ignore, but your mental health always comes first. Please rest if you feel like you need to.

In the following days, take care of yourself and don’t forget : you don’t deserve this. One day we’ll get the world we dream of, I promise you.

So you Want to Go to Gravity Falls [2/?]

Count to ten and ignore it.

The burning pressure in your head, the feeling of being trapped inside your skull for so long. It mimicked the shower of golden blood she’d to the floor and knives in your arms, silver, red, gold. The red was the mingling of the symphonies of billions of human screams and cries for help, the endless torture similar to hell, to the human confusion and striking demonic glee. You’d  Supernova and leave this world behind, perhaps the cosmic radiation might have an effect on your non-existent brain. And the perhaps you could chase the shooting star as a comet. Knowing your luck, you’d probably become TRAPPED inside the restricted force of gravity, and fall, fall away from your Mizar…

And he saw silver, the iron; gold, the precious value of time; but he saw red RED and that meant HURT and cuts and scrapes and falling on the sidewalk after tripping on your tricycle and the torture of her soul, (your soul, it was yours) and strings, scarlet tongues of her aura, chanting, screaming,

- DIPPER HELP PLEASE -

But then the sound barrier would have you hurtling towards the earth with a fiery tail in your wake, but no, that meant destruction-destruction was good- but it HURT people- Chaos was perfect-

And in your finality (your chaos, your WRECK) you’d crash and create a crater in the ground, and you’d see the fusion of the smushed animals and people, RED blood painting the grass like the splashes of sunset and your own GOLD sparks, but you’d also see the SILVER of her star glaring down at you in disdain, because you were too stubborn for your own good

But red, silver, and gold.

The human blood, protection, and soul

And he wanted to tear

And

THOMAS DIDN’T WANT TO BUY THE WHOLE SUPERMARKET.

Well, that was a little bit of an overreaction. Tyrone only demanded three fridges worth of raw meat and ice cream, but that didn’t stop Thomas from feeling a bit overwhelmed when he checked out at the grocery store tugging five different (full) shopping carts.

It was all going to be worth it in the end though. He was only getting this stuff so he could make a deal with Tyrone for an RV. The one he had it mind was going to have to accommodate all five of his friends, travel across any surface (Jesus had nothing on his sick truck!) as well as room for extra luxuries (who didn’t want the new Transcendence-Era simulation game?!?) It was all going to be perfect, because they were leaving tomorrow.

Besides, Thomas would rather deal with food than the other things Tyrone offered (what the fuck Tyrone, you aren’t getting my SOUL in exchange for a large car!)

While replaying the horrific scene in his head (complete with drool!!!) Thomas kicked his cart a bit too forcefully. The cart that was riding itself to his car started steaming and collapsed under the sheer weight of the purchased items. The cart was on the floor within several seconds, steaming and coming apart at the hinges.

Today was so not Thomas’ day.

(After talking to the manager in the parking lot, Thomas was subjected to further embarrassment by riding away in his rainbow car with goddamn pentagrams on the side.)

TYRONE DIDN’T MEAN TO TURN THE HOUSE UPSIDE DOWN.

It just sorta happened. He figured out that after recent info dumps, instead of blood oozing out of the walls, what would usually happen was furniture   way to the ceiling. The pressure didn’t go away from the back of his head. He probably should ignore it, considering all the work that Thomas put into planning this trip. He wouldn’t want to ruin it.

The mess was cleaned up with a wave of his hand, but an odd feeling lingered on the back of his mind like forgetting your keys before you go somewhere. Besides feeling the usual crappy symptoms of an knowledge burst, he also had an uneasy feeling about what he’d seen.

He’d only had this feeling once before in life, and when it happened, it ended with a scream and red blood and a silver knife in a golden, gorged-out eye.

It was the uncanny hint that history was going to repeat itself, and it wasn’t going to be pretty.

The Protective and Informative Society for the Supernatural (P.I.S.S.) welcomes Dr. Arthur Schmidt to today’s lecture.  He is most famous for his studies of supernatural biology, and his ruling of maintaining the binomial nomenclature system for the new species discovered consecutively following the Transcendence. Today he speaks to us about whether demons should be considered alive.
“Since ancient days, scientists have uncovered a method of classifying all living things. As most of you know, the old method of deciding whether something is alive or not followed the criteria of the seven biological standards. This means that an organism must undergo:
1. Respiration
2. Synthesis/assimilation
3. Transport
4. Growth
5. Reproduction
6. Excretion
7. Locomotion at some point of life
8. Death
9. DNA

…Since demons cannot fulfill several of these characteristics due to only manifesting a body that is a shell of their mind, it can be concluded that  they are only alive when possessing a vessel. This is very similar to the controversy over whether viruses were alive in the past….”

THEY FINALLY MADE IT.

They were on the RV (rainbow-basher TURNED RV, Tyrone was feeling stingy) Thomas was with his friends. They were cruising in a rainbow, probably satanic worshipping (and sentient) car. Nothing could possibly ruin this moment. He was ready to open that new game with everyone while driving to Oregon, which was going to be awesome.

The Transcendence-Era game was titled Apocalypse Averted. The box said it was fun for parties and it had even got rated five stars. Critics were calling it the best of the year, and Thomas couldn’t wait to see the characters you could play as.

He flipped the box over, and got an eyeful of the protagonist. He wore a blue and white trucker cap that was obviously out of style, and a tattered vest with knee length shorts and a dirty orange shirt. His eyes held a capacity far beyond the age he appeared to be, a probably 12 year-old middle schooler. His expression was stony and grim. Besides these details, his brown curly hair concealed his namesake in the shape of an oddly placed star- themed birthmark.

And his name?

Dipper Pines.

~ Luna as a Mum ~
  • Nights of dancing around the house completely freely, just feeling the music and your magic rising to meet the beat as you twirl around the house. Fabric tailing behind you with colours mixing together creating their own symphony.
  • Messy overalls with paint splatters, unable to see the colour that lies behind it. Great murals of nature, friends, family and abstract emotions coming into being on every surface of the house just to be covered again later in more paint.
  • Bedtime stories of great adventures with princess’ saving the dragon and King’s escaping to go live in the forests with the wonderful creatures that live there. Sometimes Luna will open up a story book but never does she read word for word, using the stories as prompts to create her own wonderful world. She always incorporates whatever you say into her story. They’re always strange but never fail to be anything but perfect and you fall asleep with the sweetest dreams.
  • Kitchen concoctions that are so rich in magic they may as well be potions. You think they are either delicious or disgusting and there is no in between.
  • There are crafts hung up everywhere around and outside the house in bright colours, some of which make sounds and on a windy day they create their own music full of chimes, whispers and bells. Luna never gets rid of any of them, proud of even the earliest creations of her children.
  • Bonfires with stories told through the smoke and roasting some of the things grown in their garden.
  • Gardening is always fun, wrestling with the plants that try and hug you and poking the ones that scream to make each other jump. They’re all safe but not one of the plants are boring. You come inside with dirt all over and can never be happier.
  • Exploring the property as great explores hunting for the ever allusive crumpled-horn snorkack. Pretending to be your mum, the greatest explore and adventurer there ever was.
  • Sitting on Luna’s lap as she writes articles, always answering questions whenever you ask, always making time to be a mum first.
  • Lessons in writing, numbers, magic and philosophy are taught differently from the Weasley’s, Potter’s and Longbottom’s you are encouraged to object and question and break away from what is considered ‘fact’.
  • Little magic - lighting candles with your breath and making flowers dance.
  • Your mum, the greatest witch there ever was and no one can convince your otherwise. Beautiful, creative, magical, inspiring, brilliant and the best. mum. ever.
