no soy to chiste campaign

I’m Not A Joke (No Soy Tu Chiste)  is artivism, art on human rights.  Was begun in Venezuela on January 23, 2013 by Artivist Daniel Arzola (@Arzola_d) It became the first Venezuelan viral campaign that through art raised awareness of the prejudice and violent acts performed against the LGBTI community around the world. Within only 6 months of its creation the campaign has reached more than a million people in more than thirty countries including Russia, where it is used today illegally as a tool for human rights protests. Today, the campaign is available in Spanish, Portuguese, and English, and holds 50 illustrated posters that through the psychology of color illustrate matters dealing with same-sex marriage, gender roles, bullying, and a variety of other current social issues. It has become viral on Facebook, Tumblr, and Twitter.

For every product you buy, one dollar will be donated to the campaign

Just bought this! I’m so frickin excited! The No Soy Tu Chiste campaign is one of my favorites that I’ve seen. The artwork is beautiful and very representative. The slogans are very powerful and it’s SO inclusive of some parts of the community that get erased from campaigns like this so often. I just wish they had a tshirt/sweatshirt for “I was born a man, I have always been a woman.” That would just be an effective way of explaining shit to like everyone. But this one really resonated with me. And I wanted something that even people who don’t know anything about the community would be able to associate with the LGBTQ community. Easily identifiable message. Necessary where I live. Anyways I’m super excited. If you like this, you can buy art prints, shirts, tank tops, sweatshirts an more here and the campaign/Daniel Arzola’s blog is here.
