no quotes for the them either

I was playing a dating sim. I played it 24/7. That was until one afternoon… where something just broke.

It was just pixels. Reality broke.

These people on-screen… I felt like I knew them.
But now they weren’t people anymore.
They were just shapes. They were lines that someone had written. They never existed. They never had feelings. They never would exist, either.
It felt so sad. Like I’d just lost these real people.
This whole thing we had… was just me… alone.

That realization dumped out of the screen and into real life.

The tree out front. I looked at it every day- it was a friend outside the window.
Now it was just a thing.
Just a thing that was there. Growing, eating, and just… being there. It was like all this stuff I had felt about the tree was just in my head.
There was this guy walking by and he was just shapes. Just this moving bulk of stuff.

I cried, because nothing wasn’t there for me anymore. It was all just stuff. Stuff in the universe.

Just… dead.

—  Margaret “Mae” Borowski (Night in the Woods)
My mother tells me
that when I meet someone I like,
I have to ask them three questions:
1. what are you afraid of?
2. do you like dogs?
3. what do you do when it rains?
Of those three, she says the first one is the most important.
‘They gotta be scared of something, baby. Everybody is. If they aren’t afraid of anything, then they don’t believe in anything, either.’ I asked you what you were afraid of.
'spiders, mostly. being alone. little children, like, the ones who just learned how to push a kid over on the playground. oh and space. holy s**t, space.’
I asked you if you liked dogs.
'I have three.’
I asked you what you do when it rains.
'sleep, mostly. sometimes I sit at the window and watch the rain droplets race. I make a shelter out of plastic in my backyard for all the stray animals; leave them food and a place to sleep.’
he smiled like he knew.
like his mom told him the same
thing.
'how about you?’
me?
I’m scared of everything.
of the hole in the o-zone layer,
of the lady next door who never
smiles at her dog,
and especially of all the secrets
the government must be breaking
it’s back trying to keep from us.
I love dogs so much, you have no idea.
I sleep when it rains.
I want to tell everyone I love them.
I want to find every stray animal and bring them home.
I want to wake up in your hair
and make you shitty coffee
and kiss your neck
and draw silly stick figures of us.
I never want to ask anyone else
these questions
ever again.
The signs as Kafka quotes

Aries:

“I will not let myself become tired. I’ll jump into my story even though it should cut my face to pieces.”

Taurus :

“Once I enjoy a person, that joy knows no bounds.”

Gemini:

“One has either to take people as they are, or leave them as they are. One cannot change them, one can merely disturb their balance. A human being, after all, is not made up of single pieces, from which a single piece can be taken out and replaced by something else.”

Cancer:

“I usually solve problems by letting them devour me.”

Leo:

“I am strangely tired, not from having talked so much but at the mere thought of what I still have to say.”

Virgo:

“Time is short, my strength is limited, the office is a horror, the apartment is noisy, and if a pleasant, straightforward life is not possible then one must try to wriggle through by subtle maneuvers.”

Libra:

“I am a very unhappy human being and you, dearest, simply had to be summoned to create an equilibrium for all this misery.”

Scorpio:

“I can never tear myself open wide enough to people to reveal everything and so frighten them away.”

Sagittarius:

“I cannot rid myself of the feeling that I’m not in the right place.”

Capricorn:

“Should I be grateful or should I curse the fact that despite all misfortune I can still feel love, an unearthly love but still for earthly objects.”

Aquarius:

“Being alone has a power over me that never fails. My interior dissolves and is ready to release what lies deeper.”

Pisces:

“I do not see the world at all; I invent it.”

People were
falling in love
with each other,
and it can either be
the most wonderful
or saddest thing
that can ever
happened
to them.

Reflections is the beginning of Hanzo’s redemption arc

Ok so I know everyone is freaking out about undercut and piercings Hanzo because he’s hot af and I am too, but this might actually have deeper meaning because

it took place after Dragons.

I’ve seen it pointed out that in many East Asian cultures, cutting off hair is symbolic of moving on from one’s past, and Hanzo’s character lies in the fact that he refuses to move on and forgive himself for what he did to Genji. In dragons and during his quotes with Genji during the game, he appears angry at him and unwilling to ever accept either of them and move on. However, both of those are Hanzo from the past. At the moment, in the Overwatch’s timeline’s “present,” he may have begun to move on from his past.

Also, the Shimada Clan is known for its traditional ideals, which is why Hanzo got into a fight with Genji in the first place for his playboy lifestyle and overall more modern style living. And you know what Genji had which was one of the things probably considered terrible by the higher ups of the Shimada clan? dyed hair in a “trendy” way. Now Hanzo himself has a new more modern hairstyle (idk in 60 years it’s probably considered old fashioned) and piercings, which means he might be moving on from his old ideas from the Shimada clan of honor and such. It might sound like a stretch, but I believe this is what this is beginning to symbolize.

Another thing I’ve seen pointed out is that in Japan, Christmas is considered a romantic holiday and Hanzo might be feeling envious or longing that he has no one to be with. He looks almost bittersweet in that panel, as if he’s happy that he gets to have a cake for Christmas, but has no one to share it with. I personally think this is very important development for him because Hanzo is probably alone during his whole “venture to make himself a better warrior” thing. Based on his backstory and personality, he seems like the kind of person who would isolate himself from social (and romantic) interaction, especially after he was forced to kill Genji, one of the people he was most likely closest to.

Hopefully, this brief panel will lead to the beginning of a possible character arc for Hanzo, and maybe even a potential love interest.

speaking of the love interest, who else was depressed and alone on Christmas?

also their panels were right next to each other felt like I should point that out

But loving someone takes more than we have, more than we feel, more than we are willing to give. Sometimes it takes pieces of us we didn’t knew we had, sometimes it takes beats of us we had never heard before, sometimes it takes waves from our souls and turn them into storm. Sometimes loving someone takes everything. It either makes you complete or leaves you empty. There is no in between and never will be.

HUFFLEPUFF: “A wise man once told me “family don’t end in blood,” but it doesn’t start there, either. Family cares about you, not what you can do for them. Family’s there through the good, bad, all of it. They got your back, even when it hurts. That’s family.” –Andrew Dabb (Dean Winchester: Supernatural: Inside Man)

“I separated the joints, the arm joints, the leg joints, and had to do two boilings. I think I used four boxes of Soilex for each one, put in the upper portion of the body and boiled that for about two hours and then the lower portion for another two hours. The Soilex removes all the flesh, turns it into a jelly like substance and it just rinses off. Then I laid the clean bones in a light bleach solution, left them there for a day and spread them out on either newspaper or cloth and let them dry for about a week in the bedroom.”

- Jeffrey Dahmer

There comes a point when you either embrace who and what you are, or you condemn yourself to being miserable all your days. There will always be people in your life who will try to make you miserable. Don’t help them by doing the job yourself!

It’s scary isn’t it?
When you realize that you’ve created a home in someone who can so quickly kick you out and then you’ll be left homeless.
Home makes you feel safe, and comfortable. You’ve already opened up,
and shared all the hidden,
dark,
damaged,
insecure,
raw parts of you,
and they’ve chosen to love you no matter what.
The love is unconditional,
and there is a level of acceptance.
You are certain that there is nothing either one of you could do to change one another’s mind about the other.
I’ve created a home in someone whose arms have never turned me down,
and whose words have never hurt me.
It’s scary to know I’ve moved in,
But,
I think I’ll stay as long as you’ll have me
—  Thanks for having me
