You have been nervous for all the week now, because of an exam. You studied really hard for months to enter this big university, but the letter with the result was late and you were getting more and more tensed. Your boyfriend, Namjoon, was always at practice due to the comeback and when he came back home you were always in your studio, still studying or reading, trying to convince yourself that you will pass, even after you had already gave the exam. For a couple of days, he didn’t say anything, but then he started getting worried.
《Y/N, you should get some rest》he said
《No, I need to study》you replied
《You’re studying the same things you studied for the past months. You should already know them by heart》
《I need to study》you repeated, not really listening to Namjoon
He grabbed the back of the chair, and took you away from your books. You were about to whine, when he interrupted you.
《You are smart, and you worked hard to pass the text. I know the results are late, but that doesn’t mean that it went bad. I am sure you did great, and they will soon tell you the same》
《I don’t know…》
《But I do. I know you passed》
He took your hand and together you went to sit on the couch. He started massaging your shoulders and telling you to don’t worry. When you yawned, you laid down and cuddled. You felt finally relaxed after a long time.
Two days later you received the letter from the university, telling you that you passed.

It’s REEEAAALLY short, I’m sorry. I hope this is what you wanted.

Also, I’d like you to read my fanfiction about Monsta X’s I.M. You can find it in my masterlist.

Spreads for Monday and Tuesday! I don’t know if I’m having a productive week, it seems like I am but it honestly doesn’t feel like it??? Anyway, I have a Bio formative on Monday and I’ve been focusing on all the actual exams I have last week meaning I am only starting to study today ><

Also, I’d been asked to organise a Bollywood dance for our school cultural festival and that’s stressing me out more than it really should

Days 40-41 / 100

Idk when Spring is going to hit us??? It’s so cold??? Spring where are you????

cyjproject  asked:

“Long story short the Mun managed to think she can take on way more than she actually can.”

//this has been a Long time coming;; but basically the exams are starting next week see, and I need the last four days to cram as many things into my skull as I possibly can. That and I might be coming close to losing a close relative of mine, things are really stressful and I need some time to concentrate on doing life things and getting through my day.

It’ll probably end in a few weeks when exams are over and done, but for now thank you for being so patient with me.

22.9.17 | 12/100 days of productivity

i studied at espresso house before my seminar today and was productive for the first time in days!! it felt really good to get things done today, it’ll lessen the workload this weekend and i feel at least slightly more prepared for the home exam next week (still nervous af though)

more unconventional study tips

- if you drank coffee while revising, drink coffee before the exam. if you didn’t, don’t

- listen to one type of music (genre/artist) while revising a certain topic, listen to that music on your way to the exam

- wear the same colour nail polish/perfume when revising and when you’re in the exam

- keep your sleep schedule the same. try to get 8 hours while revising and also the night before the exam. don’t stay up cramming and exhaust yourself

- it’s better to do one hour every day in the week leading up to the exam than 7 hours in one day the day before

these tips can help trigger your memory, they sound weird but they really do work

💞Back To School Glow Up💞

Alright y'all, with school season comin back, here are some prime hoe tips to get y'all ready to slay.

1. Develop a skincare regimen at least once daily: wash, exfoliate*, mask*, toner, essential oils, moisturize.

*once weekly, to avoid overshocking your skin.

2. Tea tree oil is bomb for acne and acne scars. Apply that shit.

3. Coconut oil and castor oil for brow/lash growth every night.

4. Go through your closet, and toss clothes you don’t wear. Invest in more neutral colors and fits to configure a wider variety of cute ass outfits.

5. Don’t be afraid to thrift shop; places like TJ Maxx and The Goodwill have bomb ass brands for cheap.

6. Get your books/supplies ready a week before. Prepare yourself.

7. Have all of your test dates/assignment due dates in your phone before classes start. Make sure to request off days of work the nights before major assignments and exams if you can help it.

8. Things to keep in a bag in your locker: pads/tampons, an extra pair of panties, a spare change of clothes & shoes(in case of a wardrobe malfunction), hairbrush and hairtie, nail file & clippers, makeup remover wipes, concealer, masacara, gum, water bottle, extra pens, some spare cash, phone charger, and earbuds.

9. Keep a water bottle in ya bag at all times. A hoes gotta be hydrated.

10. Keep up with ya studies (see my School and Studying Tips post for more details on how to boost that GPA)

11. A week before school starts, develop getting sleep schedule for school by going to bed half an hour earlier every night. This’ll make waking up earlier less of a hell, trust me.

12. Have a go-to makeup look for school that takes 30 mins or less as a default, if you beat your face in the morning.

13. Replace coffee with tea for a more healthy caffeine fix before class.

14. Prepare yourself a decent breakfast before you go to bed, so you can easily grab and go in the morning. Breakfast kickstarts your metabolism and decreases cravings throughout the day, and generally boosts your mood and brain power.

15. If you wear a uniform, make sure that shit is comfortable and actually fits you. Make sure nothing hangs off of you, cuts off circulation, itches, irritates, etc.

16. Need a break from studying? Work out. Burn some calories, clear your mind, and stimulate your brain with some exercise. Swear to god this keeps my grades up and my body lookin fly.

17. Invest in a hair mask (any pharmacy or makeup outlet will have them), or make one yourself. They make your hair super soft and shiny for flipping it when you walk past that group of girls who hate you lol

Thats all I can think of for now hoes, get good grades, I believe in all of y'all✨
🌼🌻study smarter🌻🌼

(here are some study tips straight from my psych notes)

1. interest: the brain prioritizes by meaning, value, and relevance so u remember things better if ur interested

  • find a study partner
  • do extra practice or research
  • teach it to someone else (this works so well!)

2. intent: be actively paying attention. very little learning actually takes place without attention

  • use a concentration check sheet (every time u get distracted, put a check on ur sheet. this is supposed to program ur mind to pay attention)
  • while u read, talk back to the author
  • ask questions during lectures (this is scary ik!! but do it!)

3. basic background: make connections to what u already know

  • preview and skim the material before u read it. or google it!
  • write out a list of vocab words before a lecture and leave some spaces between them to fill in during the lecture
  • read ahead of lectures
  • watch crashcourse tbh

4. selectivity: start by studying whats important

  • look for bolded words, graphics, pictures, chapter review questions in ur readings
  • listen for verbal clues like emphasis and repetition during lectures
  • make urself a study guide as u read and write down questions for urself to answer later as review (kinda like cornell notes)

5. meaningful organization: u can learn/rmr better if u group ideas into diff categories

  • apply vocab words to ur life
  • make flashcards and sort them (try not to have more than seven items in one category!)
  • use mnemonics

6. recitation: saying ideas aloud in ur own words strengthens synaptic connections! when u say something aloud u r forcing urself to pay attention

  • after u read, ask urself questions
  • talk abt what u learned w/ classmates outside of class
  • again, teach someone else

7. visualization: ur brain’s quickest and longest-lasting response is to images

  • convert info into a chart or graph
  • draw it out
  • make a mental video of a process
  • look at picture/video examples

8. association: memory is increased when facts are consciously associated w something u already know. memory = making neural connections

  • ask urself: is this something i already know?

9. consolidation: give ur brain some time to establish a neural pathway

  • make a list of what u remember from class
  • review notes at the end of the day, every day
  • stop after reading each prg to write a question in ur notes
  • make ur own practice quiz

10. distributed practice: we all know cramming doesnt work but we do it anyway! but yeah short and frequent study sections work better

  • make a daily/weekly study schedule
  • create a time budget/time tracker (track everything ur doing for a week and see how u can be more efficient w/ the time u waste)
  • divide the reading/vocab by the number of days before an exam and do a little bit each day (u can use sticky notes to divide ur reading)

other tips:

  • stop stressing! this sounds stupid and it isnt going to be easy, but anxiety causes u to lose focus. try ur best to think positively. sleep a lot. minimize ur caffeine intake. take a walk maybe
  • when u need to remember something, look upward or close ur eyes (when ur eyes are open ur using visual parts of ur brain that u might not need to be using)
  • find a rival! (like the person right above u in class rank) secretly compete w/ them (envy can improve mental persistence bc it makes u focus more intensely) but dont overdo it!
  • walking and sleeping build memory storage in ur brain
  • eat flavonoids! (grapes, berries, tea leaves, cocoa beans make neurons in the brain more capable of forming new memories + increase blood flow to the brain)
  • obstacles force ur brain to try harder, so space learning lessons apart or create a puzzle to solve or change ur physical setting

university tips

*from someone that survived her own first year of university

  • university is SO different from high school; a brilliant student in high school can be just a mediocre university student, and this is simply how it is when people from all over the country come together in a class.
  • so it is okay to stress, but only if afterwards you’re just trying your best! it doesn’t matter how much you already know (though it helps), but how willing you are to learn! so, really, if you want to be there, you can make it!
  • make sure you eat properly; after a while, your body will start feeling gross and it’ll eventually show in your capacity to do your work. go out, buy that extra meat, extra salads, extra fruits, at least every once in a while. it’s not luxury, it’s a need
  • go the extra mile. no matter how optional a task may be or how tongue-tied you feel on a particular day, put yourself out there. write that essay, do that projects, speak about your ideas. your teachers really appreciate it when they ask for interractions from students and they provide, and it’s nice to have your teacher know you by face and by actions. it might prove useful when they’re grading you during the finals as well.
  • go to all (most) of your classes, no matter how optional the attendace is or how little you understand on the moment. in the long run, it will matter, and it’s super helpful to complete all your materials with the extra knowledge you got from the class. and no one and nothing will truly replace a teacher’s explanation.
  • try to make friends with those around you; most are probably just as lost and lonely as you are and it’s good to have people around you who can motivate you when you’re done or with whom to simply share the struggles of getting an education. sure, not everyone will like you, but those that will, make sure they can stick.
  • get involved in all the extra programmes that you’re interested in! you’re young and a student once! these opportunities are mostly a once in your lifetime thing! get out there and try everything: go to that book club, get your ass for the cinephile gathering, sign up for exchange programs, help out your teachers with their projects, do volunteer work! whatever floats your boat, but just do it!
  • also keep your eyes wide open to catch all the interesting lectures happening in your school. check those posters, check those subjects, check those dates and go. most of the times, you’ll leave knowing much more and having something to think on.
  • do your reading and assignments ahead of time! you don’t want it to be 2 dayss before your first exam, and you still have to finish essays and books.
  • the library really is your best friend! either as a study place or alternative to spending all your money on the source materials for your homework.
  • tidy up at least once a week; as school materials will start pile up, it will be harder and harder to find anything and you’ll only just end up frustrated
  • no one knows you better than you do, so make sure to take only the amount of work you know you can do. it’s okay if you want to keep your first year as free as you can, so you have time to acommodate, and just as okay it is to try all the available classes if you can.
  • keep your facebook name your real one so people can find you. make sure you’re in every possible group within the first week of university, so you know what’s going on. use said facebook groups to ask about teachers and classes, or find offers on used textbooks that are much cheaper than if you would have bought them yourself.
  • talk with the upperclassmen if you have questions, or simply for tips! really, it tickles our ego to have people actually interested in the experiences we have to share and most of us are more than happy to clear any misunderstandings or help you guys get a classroom right.
  • carry pills and proteine bars with you, especially if you spend a long time away from home! you never know when pain or hunger hits you, and it is better to be prepared than sorry.
  • it became a running joke at this point, i know, but right during the exam period you’ll want to do everything you haven’t done ever. so make sure you nurture your hobbies as well as your studies, and hopefully your interests are not too time consuming or at least require frequent/long breaks.
  • literally no one cares about how you look; so wear that make-up and nice clothes if you feel up for it, but if you don’t, that’s fine as well.
  • it will be done in the blink of an eye. so be true to yourself and your wishes, enjoy what you’re studying and, remember, you can do it!

This is something I hope all of my followers and the entire studyblr community will read…

Last year was the hardest year of my life and I did not even notice it until I was out of it. To give a little background, I was 19, and becoming a college senior. I completed my bachelor’s degree with a double major, summa cum laude. I worked two jobs, one retail, one as a tour guide, five days a week, and took seven classes in the fall, and eight in the spring, and six in the summer. By March I had lost 16 pounds, was not eating, not sleeping, and drinking four or more cups of coffee a day. I had a boyfriend, friends, a roommate, I was president of a club, vice president of another, and working as vice president of one club’s international leadership program as one of five student board members across sixty-three countries. I studied for my LSAT, took the exam, and applied to law school. And in August, I will be the youngest person in my law school.

I pushed myself harder and further than I ever imagined, and though I sometimes (often) felt like it, I never cracked, gave up, or even collapsed. I did not always take care of myself, physically, mentally, or emotionally though, and I failed myself there, but I was so driven, so determined, that none of that mattered to me at that moment. I do not regret that or any of the choices I have made, but I pressured myself more than anyone ever has, and more than I ever have. I accomplished unbelievable things, but at an insane cost - my health.

Often in this community I receive messages, and see posts, encouraging you to never give up, and to always push yourself to get that A, pass that test, graduate, or to overcome whatever academic or otherwise challenges you are facing. Almost daily I receive messages asking how I do it. “How did you graduate at 20?”, “How do you keep up with all of your commitments?”, and even, “You are so amazing, I could never do it like you do”. But I am here to tell you well, it is not pretty. I went days without eating a meal at times. Days without washing my hair, of wearing the same torn leggings and a hoodie because a grade meant more to me than I meant to myself. I got walking pneumonia at the end of the spring term because I had pushed myself too hard and spent weeks telling myself I could not afford to be sick today, tomorrow, or the next day. I wore myself down so much that I had a doctor literally tell me that now at 20 years old, if I do not tone down the stress and pressure I subject myself to, that I could give myself a stroke. A stroke, 20 years old!

Being a perfectionist, and being so overwhelmingly addicted to my studies, is not glamorous.

I am making this post not to brag about my accomplishments, but because I receive messages daily idolizing me and what I have done. I want everyone to know that this is not easy. Having a dream is hard work, and I have been unfairly hard on myself. Just because you do not see someone’s cracks and scars, does not mean they are not there. I have worked hard, and have earned these things, but I have made sacrifices I would hate to see anyone else make.

In 10 days I move across the country to start law school, and I am terrified that I will allow myself to do this all over again. I am not afraid of the move, or of law school, but of myself and how I talk to myself and treat myself, and the amount of stress and pressure I am willing to apply to myself, without hesitation. In a month I have law school orientation, and have set up a meeting with one of the school’s onsite trauma therapists. I refuse to let myself be my own greatest roadblock. I have to learn to love myself. It is not fair to your body and mind to put grades above yourself. I now full heartedly believe that a grade is not worth your health. I will no longer break my back bending over backwards for an A+. I will no longer let myself go days without food and rest because I want this essay to be perfect, or my presentation to go as planned, second by second. I will allow myself to be happy, well rested, well fed, and healthy. I will love myself, and this is a promise I am making to myself and to all of you, and a promise I hope you all can make to yourselves as well.

I promise.

TLDR; Be dedicated, and determined to get what you want, but do not sacrifice your health, mental, physical, or emotional, for a grade, a diploma, a degree… You are worth so much more than a letter on a piece of paper, and it is okay to sometimes need to hear that. I know I did.
