Todrick Hall speaks out about Taylor Swift video backlash

Yahoo Music: So when some people saw you dancing in “Look What You Made Me Do,” they were not pleased, to put it mildly. What exactly happened?

Todrick Hall: They saw a clip, just a few seconds, that featured Taylor Swift standing in a line of dancers, and they started forming all types of conclusions. I was just very confused by that, because I knew that there was nothing “Formation”-esque or Lemonade-esque about the video. Artistically, I didn’t feel that was the case. I’m a humongous Beyoncé fan. I’ve worked with Beyoncé. I’ve choreographed for Beyoncé. And I would never intentionally be a part of art that I felt was ripping off my favorite artist of all time. But I felt like these were two completely different lanes.

“Sellout” was one of the common names you were called.

Yes, one of the main things that people said was, “He wanted to make his money. Well, good for him, he got paid. And I guess payment is enough for you to sell out your family, your people, your community.” But this had nothing to do with money. I didn’t do this Taylor Swift video for money. I did it because she’s my friend, and she was very excited about it. And she wanted people to be there who she could trust, because it was a very big undertaking. I was proud to be there, but money was not a factor for me. I don’t do things for money.

But there are people online who have a problem with the fact in general that you and Taylor are friends?

Yes, I have gotten comments from people who are upset and have literally said the fact that I am friends with a white person is a problem, because white people don’t possess the ability to love or ever truly care about black people. And I find that very disheartening. I’ve grown up in a neighborhood where I went to church with and lived with and went to school with beautiful black people; when I look at them, I see myself. But then I was also in a peculiar situation, because I danced in a dance group where I was the only black person in the dance studio. In some cases, I was the only black cheerleader in my school. I did theater where I was the only black person, the “token black person.” And working at Disney, oftentimes I was the only black person in the show at Disney World or Disneyland on any given day. And I also did tours where I was the only black singer; I did a cruise ship where I was the only black person in the cast. So I’ve been used to being in situations where I’ve had to find friendships and find love and find similarities. My whole brand, everything that I stand for and everything I’ve always stood for, is equality and love. So it’s just really difficult for me to understand why it is an issue for people, a legitimate issue, that I have white friends, and that Taylor Swift happens to be one of my many white friends.

Apparently there’s a thing called the “cookout,” which is like your invitation to be a part of the black community. Some people have, like, deemed themselves the Woke Police, and they decide to strip you online of your invitation to attend the “cookout.” It boggles my mind that people are deciding whether or not I’m down enough, black enough, or woke enough to be “invited.” If I have to hate people and judge people based on their race, sexual orientation, or religion, then sorry, but I’d rather order pizza.

What is Taylor really like? Describe your bond.

What people are mostly forgetting is that Taylor Swift really is my friend. Sometimes because she is a celebrity of such a huge status, inarguably one of the biggest stars of our generation, people forget that there is a human side to her, that she has real friends that she calls and talks to about her real problems. And I call her, and I have cried on her shoulder about my own relationship issues and family issues and career issues. We are friends, and so when she asked me to do this video, I said absolutely. It wasn’t a question for me. I trust her, and I had no problem doing the video. And I just think that it’s really sad and shocking that me doing four eight-counts of choreography is enough to make people feel the need to question my “blackness” or “wokeness.”

Taylor came to see me in Kinky Boots and she stayed after the show for two hours and met every single person in that cast — took pictures, signed stuff, met every usher, every custodian, every orchestra member, every producer and their kids. And then she went outside and met fans outside the theater afterwards, stayed there for over two and a half hours after the show and wouldn’t leave until every single person had been met. There are just very few celebrities in the world who would do something like that. She didn’t have to do that. She could’ve come to the show, said hi to me, and left. That’s just what type of person she is, and what type of person she’s always been. Her parents raised her so well, and when you’re in the room with them, you can feel that energy.

It just is shocking to me that people will see an image of her and hear stories online about her, or arguments with other celebrities who she did not ask to be involved with, who recorded her against her will without her knowing and then decided to release six-second clips of a conversation that happened to paint her to be this evil person that I don’t believe that she is. Come on, we’ve watched millions of episodes of Law & Order or seen Judge Judy a million times; how are they not able to conclude that there is something missing from this? If you feel the need to record someone on video with people there, the intentions may not have been the most pure.

Some of the criticism Taylor has received recently has to do with the fact that she has not been politically outspoken in past years, like some of her peers Katy Perry or Lady Gaga.

Yeah, many people have been tweeting me, “She supports Trump! She probably voted for Trump!” They’re making this huge assumption, when Taylor has never to my knowledge come out and said anything about her being pro-Trump. But people would still rather believe that she is the one who is pushing Trump’s agenda. That was one of the major things that was tweeted at me, and I’m like, “So you are mad that you think she might support Donald Trump? But you’re not mad that Kanye has been very openly pro-Trump?” I don’t understand that.

Look, I’m not Taylor Swift, so I can’t speak for her and why she does or does not choose to speak or not speak about any specific subject matter. All I know is that she has been nothing but a great person to me. Her family has welcomed me into their home and treated me like I was a member of the family. They’ve welcomed every single person I’ve ever brought around them. I’ve never felt like there was ever a moment that I couldn’t be myself, and talk about the fact that I’m gay or whatever. At Thanksgiving, we all sat around and talked about it, and there was another one of her friends there who was African-American, and we all sat down and talked about racism and watched 13th on Netflix and talked about how important it was. It was one of the most beautiful conversations I’ve ever had, because sometimes as an African-American person I feel like I can’t voice my opinion about how difficult it is to be not just an African-American person in the entertainment industry, but how scary it is to be black in America, in even 2017.

When it comes to Taylor, all I know is that she has been a sweet, amazing human being to me. When she calls me, it’s hardly ever to talk about her accomplishments or things that she’s going through. She calls me and says, “How’s your heart? Are you OK?” I’ve been around her an awful lot, and if it were some type of crazy, fake façade, I think I would have figured it out by now. I feel like it’s a genuine part of who she is, and she’s a human being. Has she made mistakes? Yes. Will she make mistakes again? Yes. But let the person in America who has not made mistakes raise their hand.

I think that I’m on my own journey; every artist is on their own journey. Maybe one day, Taylor will start being super-political, and using her voice to do thing that people think that she should be doing. But even then, she will probably be ridiculed for not being vocal enough, or not being on the right side. I don’t think that there is a way to win in this industry, so every person has to take their own journey at their own pace, at their own time, and do what they feel like is right. All I know is that Taylor has been nothing but sweet to me since day one, and if she asks me to do a video, I’m absolutely going be there.

I’m not apologizing for being a part of the video and doing four eight-counts of choreography in it. I thought it was a great piece of art. I thought it was awesome. It’s broken so many records and I’m proud to be a part of it. I don’t think I’ve sold out my race or my community — the gay community, the black community. I think that I was just in a piece of art that my friend made. I’m not issuing a statement to people about it to explain myself, because there’s nothing to explain. I’m not sorry that I did it, and I don’t think that it was a mistake. If I had a do-over, I would absolutely be there for another eight hours, in heels, dancing with her.

Is Taylor aware of the heat you’ve gotten for being in her video?

I have talked to her about it, and she has been very uplifting and given me a lot of information about how when you’re doing big things, there will always be people who have something to say about it. But I think that Beyoncé gave me the best advice when I met her. She said, “Don’t scroll down. Don’t go down and look at comments, and when you do something as an artist, make a decision and stick to it. You don’t need to apologize for things that you’ve done.” I use that all the time.

You have gotten this sort of criticism before.

Yeah. In the beginning, it was because I did videos based on stereotypes of a particular group that put people in a negative light. And so I took those notes, because I consider myself to be a humble person, and I tried to apply them, and tried to do less work on my YouTube channel that stereotyped people, less work that stereotyped my race as being “ghetto” or “ratchet,” because I did understand the argument. I think it’s a really difficult thing when you toe the line with comedy, because there are certain things that some people are going to think is funny, but then some people are always going to be offended. The political climate has changed so much over the past months since Donald Trump became president, and it has just been a very scary place to create content online. So I tried to do whatever I can to create content that everyone can love and that is inclusive of everybody.

It’s just something that I deal with every day. I wrote an album about my life [Straight Outta Oz], about how I fell in love at 19 years old with a boy who was British and who just happened to be white. I wrote a song called “Color,” and in the song I say the line, “You’re my favorite hue.” What I meant by that when I wrote the song was it’s supposed to be a direct relation to the 1939 Wizard of Oz film, and then everything turns to color when Dorothy gets to Oz. I felt like my whole world was black and white before I met this person. But people took that as that white was my favorite color, and that was what I preferred. People have assumed that am the type of person that refuses to date people of my own race or associate with people of my own race. Which, I don’t feel the need to prove to them that I have in fact dated multiple black men and Puerto Rican, Latino men. I’m an equal opportunist when it comes to love. I think everyone is beautiful. You fall in love with a person, not the outer layer of skin.

It’s really frustrating because I don’t think that people realize that when I got to L.A., I lived in not a great neighborhood. A policeman drove up onto a sidewalk, got out of the car, pushed my face on the ground, put my hands on my back, pulled a gun out on me. I have never felt so scared in my entire life. I have witnessed so many things like that. It’s very difficult for me to go and spend time in a predominantly Caucasian neighborhood without the cops being called on me, because people don’t know why I’m there and they think I look suspicious. I have had a lot of issues and dealt with racism in the same capacity as a lot of other people. I have written so many songs, even on Straight Outta Oz, about the Black Lives Matter movement, because it’s something that I’m very passionate about. It’s something that I definitely use my voice and my platform to speak out against. So it’s frustrating that people who have never met me in person like to make huge, incorrect assumptions about me and go and scream them and yell them from the rooftops online.

I just strongly feel that if we can’t get along within our own race, and have to point fingers and yell at people who we think don’t have our back when we don’t know anything about them — we haven’t listened to the facts, we haven’t seen the footage, there are no receipts to show that this person is not a proud African-American person who isn’t down to fight for equality for everyone’s sake — if we fight with each other so much that we’re tearing down our own race and our own community, how does that make us any better than the people in Charlottesville, carrying the tiki torches? How are we any better than those people, and how are we ever going to meet in the middle and finally be able to say, “Let’s be one unified group of people”? I just don’t understand how it’s possible, and that what makes me so upset.

Online outrage is at an all-time high right now, for sure. Everyone is on edge.

I think that we’ve got to figure out a way within our own community to stop tearing people down and stop making assumptions and looking for reasons to be mad. I don’t know what is happening in the world right now, but now is a scary time. People are looking for someone to blame and someone to point fingers at. I don’t think that Taylor Swift is the problem with America right now. People can try to make that be the issue, but there is a much bigger issue here in our country that we need to look at and recognize, and figure out what we can do to be a part of making the world a better place, to be nice and sweet and kind to each other, and to realize that racism is a huge horrible thing that has kept a lot of people down.

But I think it’s going to take every race, every minority, every gay person, every trans person, every straight person, waking up and realizing that we can’t do this alone. We can’t divide into our own little sections and decide that we’re going to secretly hate each other and be mad if one person goes over and shakes the hand of somebody on the other team. We all need to be one team. We all have to go out and extend an olive branch to each other and try to help each other out and try to build one another up. That’s the only way that we can be successful. That’s the only way that we can make this world the beautiful place that God created it to be. Spread love, and love each other. That’s what I try to do.

Did you engage with any of your online critics about this video?

I gave no negative tweets, didn’t argue with people on social media, had nothing to say to them. But I even went so far as to give somebody my phone number online so they could call me and said, “If you feel I’ve done something that’s offended you, or if you could shed some light on as to how me being involved with this video or being friends with Taylor Swift — other than the fact that she is white and you feel that she is the epitome of white privilege, the poster child for white privilege … If there’s anything you can do to shed some light to me as to how I can be a better example for young African-American kids growing up, then I would love to talk to you on the phone.” And I meant it. And I talked to them, and I felt like we came to a good place. I’m a humble person; I’m not opposed to taking constructive criticism.

There was a time two years ago where I would’ve damn near gotten carpal tunnel because I would’ve stayed up all night trying to argue back and forth [on Twitter], thinking, “What would Regina George do?” Now I’m adopting the policy, “What would Beyoncé do?” So I’m going to kill all these people with kindness. I’m going to be nice to them, and I’m just going to prove to them, one by one when they meet me, what type of person I am. Support my friends, be nice to people, and do what I have to do to be a good human being and play my part in society and in this crazy political climate.

Obviously I’m not diminishing the horrible things that have happened to get us to this point, but at this point we have a choice to either band together and fight and talk about the real issues and the real problems, and Taylor Swift is not the problem. If we can all accept the fact that there is a bigger problem and start having dialogue and talking to each other — not just with the people that it’s comfortable for us to talk to, our own people and people who look like us, but to people who might not understand where we’re coming from or what we’ve been through — then we might get closer to making this world a unified place, the way that Michael Jackson sang about in his songs and in his music. While I know that is not the theme of “Look What You Made Me Do,” I do believe that is the theme of Taylor Swift’s heart and the person that she truly is on a personal level.

LIBRA: Occasionally you have to fake it until you make it. I know that this is a cliche you’ve heard many times before, but have you ever actually tried it? Cliches don’t become ‘cliche’ unless a lot of people believe in what they’re implying. Feel free to test this, even if it’s just for a day or two. Pretend that you’re in the right career, pretend that you haven’t been sad at all for the last few weeks, pretend that you’re powerful and comfortable and know exactly who you are. Sometimes a little confidence, even if it begins as a front, is the final piece to the puzzle.

SCORPIO: You’ve had chains wrapped around your ankles for so long now that you hardly ever notice their weight anymore. Don’t get me wrong, it’s wonderful that you’ve found a way to cope with the things that try to drag you down. But it seems like you’ve become so complacent in this state of being that you’ve given up on escape. Like you’re an audience member to your own existence. But you aren’t, even though life comes at you so viciously sometimes. You are in charge of your body, and in charge of what you do with it. Now use it.

SAGITTARIUS: There’s always something about the early days of autumn that make you feel as though anything is possible, and this year you should take advantage of that. Now is not the time to play it safe or rein in your grand ideas: now is the time to give them life. You’ve become an expert at putting things on hold for circumstances that are outside of your control and putting an end to that is overdue. The world isn’t always going to give you a green light to move on, sometimes you have to build it yourself. Sometimes you just have to go for it.

CAPRICORN: The world is already cruel enough without adding your own self-doubt into the mix. I think it’s time that you start being kinder to yourself. You’ve been through so much, after all; nobody is expecting you to be perfect or be immune to making mistakes. Take some time to reward yourself for the positive things you’ve accomplished. Buy that coffee, watch that movie, put your feet up and relax. You are so good at making the people around you feel content, apply that talent to your own life.

AQUARIUS: There’s been so much in front of you lately, both positive and negative, that you’ve been letting everything behind you fade into the background. And while moving forward is necessary in order to survive, the things you’ve already experienced are learned lessons that you shouldn’t forget so easily. Do you remember the last thing you cried over? Do you remember why it made you so sad? Now, put that feeling in a bubble and don’t let yourself make the same choices that led you to that feeling. Your past matters, but it will never own you. There’s a difference.

PISCES: Life can be pretty overwhelming sometimes, can’t it? You aren’t overreacting if lately you’ve felt as though the planet has been taking a toll on you. Just remember, it’s good that you’re busy and that you’re involved with what’s going on around you. There was a time when a past version of yourself wouldn’t have dared to lay their heart out as boldly as you do now, and your progress is cause for celebration. Take everything one day at a time, if it’s getting to be too much. Breathe. Take breaks when needed. Persevere.

ARIES: Everything in your life feels like a big quilt of sorts, every event and person and memory connected to another by a few threads and some time. Lately you’ve found yourself wondering about what the significance of all of that is. But maybe the meaning isn’t within the connections themselves, but in the person that’s tied them all together. You have created a vast network of friends and feelings and you’ve brought positivity and good vibes to every link in this chain of relationships. These interconnected moments all call your heart home. Embrace their warmth.

TAURUS: So, you’re still attached to a lot of things that you thought you’d be disconnected from by now. There are still regrets and past lovers and half finished letters stuffed underneath your mattress and you’ve accepted that this is how it is. You’ve grown resigned to the fact that some things are impossible to move on from. But I’m here to tell you that nothing can keep you in its grasp unless part of you is letting it. If you own a pair of scissors, why aren’t you using them to cut the strings that are tied around you? What possible reason is there to keep suffering?

GEMINI: It’s easy to look in a mirror and point out the parts of yourself that make building relationships difficult. You find yourself constantly having to relearn how to touch people without hurting them or yourself in the process. It isn’t your fault that you’ve tried to give affection to people that are unworthy of it, it’s their fault for fooling you into thinking they deserved what you were providing. Just because this hasn’t been working out for you lately, doesn’t mean that it won’t ever. You are lovable even when nobody is loving you.

CANCER: Enjoying your accomplishments without thinking about the people that should be there celebrating with you is something that you still struggle with from time to time. It’s okay to be sad that there are certain moments you’ll never be able to share with those that would’ve understood your happiness; it isn’t fair that you’ve had to mourn so many missed opportunities. But don’t let what’s absent diminish your successes or make you feel as though you aren’t allowed to be proud of yourself. You’re thriving despite all of that negative space and it’s beautiful.

LEO: Nothing comes as a surprise to you anymore, but despite that you still find yourself stuck with unrealistic expectations at the end of the day. Either you know that you deserve better and you don’t want to admit it, or you’ve become so comfortable with being disappointed that you’re scared of being anything but. Maybe it’s a little bit of both. Maybe you know what you want and you know that you shouldn’t want it so you’re self-sabotaging any chance you’re given at obtaining happiness. I think that something inside of you knows the answers to these maybe’s. Let it out.

VIRGO: Self-preservation is an art form you’ve become incredibly dedicated to depicting. If your heart were a gallery, there’d be sculptures of brick walls lurking around every corner and self portraits donned with armor cluttering up the walls. There’s nothing wrong with putting yourself first, in fact I would encourage you to always do so. But be careful; there’s a fine line between prioritizing yourself over others and knowingly hurting others in the quest to better yourself. You have to find a balance between the two.

Mafia!BTS when your their s/o but you try to run away from them

I planned this on being a reaction, but… It’s quite long hehe ^^’

So It’s more like little Imagines.

He had been the leader for a long time know, always getting what he wanted and easily getting rid of anyone he wanted to get rid of. You knew what he was doing. The fact that he was a mafia boss never had effected your love for him, but you just couldn’t stand the way he killed so many people, especially since some of them were innocent.
So one day, you decided to leave him, even though you knew your heart was gonna break. You still loved your loving, caring boyfriend. But you were disgusted and scared by the mafia boss and killer in him.

Rapmonster:

You had packed your suitcase, waiting for a good moment to escape. 30 minutes after Namjoon had left for work, you tried to sneak out of your appartment, unknowing that your boyfriend was already waiting for you in front of the door. He had noticed how distant you’ve been these days- and already been waiting for your try to escape.

“Well, well… Where do you wanna go with that big suitcase? Just grabbing some snacks?  I’m sorry honey, but you better get back into the appartment before I’ll have to punish you.”

Since he loves you and is a very loyal person, he would listen to you explaining why you wanted to run from him. He would try to change it, but he wouldn’t let you go, never.

You had been struggling with yourself for a long time. When he was with you, Jin was the sweetest and nicest person. You had no doubt you loved him. But the thought of him, the person you loved, killing other people without mercy… It slowly ripped your heart apart.

It was the best for you to run from him and start a new life. You hadn’t seen Jin in a while and you knew exactly what he was busy with, but you had your whole escape planned out.

Everything was going well, you had reached the airport and his people were nowhere to be seen. You took a last quick glance of the airport before you walked into the plane, sighing happily. That had been easier than you were thinking! You were sitting down in your seat and making yourself comfortable, when suddenly someone sat down next to you. Your eyes widened in shock. No… how?

“Hello, sweety… You could have just told me you wanted to go on a vacation. What? Are you not going to hug me? I missed you…”

Jins people are everywhere… You should have known the taxi driver was strange.

No matter how many people he had to kill because of his job, he really loved you. He had warned you several times. You thought you were going to be strong enough, that your love was strong enough. But when you heard that the mafia had killed an innocent child, your heart dropped. Enough was enough. Little did you know that Taehyung, even though he was the leader, had nothing to do with this incident. So when he came home to a lonely house, he was shocked. Finding you wasn’t a problem, but he was deeply concerned about your feelings towards him.

He would decide to let you go. However, he would always have someone to watch over you, no matter where you were. You were hungry? Taehyung knew about that. You were eating an orange? Taehyung knew about that. He was sure you loved him and it was only a matter of time until you would come back to him.

But still, he was quite busy- you hardly ever saw him and if you did, he was injured. You found yourself worrying about him every day, every hour, every second of your life. You weren’t even allowed to go out and work.

You missed your old friends and your parents so much. You had enough of being trapped in mafia. The letter you had written for Jungkook was laying on the big, lonely kitchen table. You sighed. You would miss Jungkook, his sweet smile, his dark eyes. But he didn’t seem to miss you. You left the house through the backyard, knowing there weren’t any cameras. You wanted to take the bus since he wouldn’t expect you to, it would take you to your parents house.  What to do after that… ? For know, it didn’t matter.

However, once you had reached the bus stop, Jungkook was already waiting there for you. He had a wide smile on his lips, making you shudder. You knew there was no use in running away know.

Draco felt out of place. His platinum blonde hair stood out amongst the sea of red. He had met so many Weasleys in the space of twenty minutes that he couldn’t even remember a single name.

Harry had left him alone as soon as they’d arrived so he had been forced to introduce himself awkwardly to all the Weasley cousins. They all seemed to know who he was already. And not in the usual he’s a death eater kind of way, but in a giggling oh, you’re that Draco kind of way.

It made him wonder what Harry had told them and if he’d mentioned…the incident. Draco had been friends with Harry for most of eighth year, and in love with him for most of his teenage life. And two weeks ago, one of his wildest dreams had come true – Harry had kissed him.

They’d been sneaking down to the kitchens late at night in Harry’s invisibility cloak when Draco had accidentally knocked into a suit of armor and brought about a racket enough to wake everyone in the castle up. Knowing a teacher wouldn’t be far away, and not trusting the invisibility cloak to save them, they’d dashed into the first broom cupboard they could find, both stifling their laughter.

Draco hardly had time to consider the situation they’d gotten themselves into, particularly the proximity of Harry’s body to him in the small space, when Harry had leaned up and kissed him. Just like that. No warning. Draco’s face flared red immediately of course. Harry Potter was kissing him. And Draco was – at least he hoped, he was a little too dazed to concentrate properly – kissing him back.

It was perfect.

But then the door had swung open and a hand pulled the invisibility cloak off him – the teachers weren’t stupid – so they’d stopped. And they hadn’t talked about it since.

Harry was acting exactly the same as before, as if nothing had happened. And Draco didn’t know what to make of that. Didn’t know how to behave now he had fallen even deeper for Harry Potter.

And worse now, Harry had convinced him to come to the Weasley’s Christmas party and then had left him alone. It enough to drive anyone up the wall. And Draco wasn’t known for being particularly patient.

After being introduced to a middle-aged lady who called herself Muriel the second, Draco excused himself into the house. He had to find Harry and tell him he’d had enough. That he was going home.

Draco finally found him in the attic with Ron and Hermione. They were talking in hushed voices and Harry was holding something in his –

“Draco!” Harry said standing up and hiding whatever he was holding behind his back. “What are you doing here?”

That stung. “You invited me remember. But don’t worry, I’m leaving now.”

Harry hurried forward, his hands still behind his back. “But - But you can’t leave.”

“I can do whatever I want, especially when I’m being ignored.” Draco turned and headed back down the stairs. He wanted to run away but he had to preserve his dignity. Instead he would walk calmly to the apparition point, disapparate to the Manor and never leave home again. Perhaps he was being dramatic, but what else could he be when he felt like his heart had been stomped on?

Leaving turned out to be a lot more difficult than he’d anticipated. Everywhere he turned, there was another Weasley in front of him and they’d all remembered his name.

“Have you tried the fruit cake, Draco?”

“Would you mind awfully taking a photo of Philias and I, Draco?”

“Draco, be a dear and help me move this table?”

“I insist we discuss Potions, Draco, I’ve been told you’re quite the prodigy?”

Being well graced in polite society, Draco was forced to delay his departure to appease all the Weasleys – somehow, they seemed to be multiplying.

He had almost reached his way across the yard when Ron and Hermione caught up to him.

“Are you really this daft?” Ron started, but Hermione shushed him.

“Harry hasn’t been ignoring you,” she said with a gentle smile.

“Then why – “

Ron pulled a small plant from his pocket with bright red berries. “It’s mistletoe,” he explained. “Harry was going to use it as an excuse to kiss you again.”

There were so many things Draco wanted to say, wanted to ask. But the only words he could manage were, “That’s not mistletoe.”

“Yes it – “

“Actually, Ron,” Hermione interrupted. “It’s Holly. Mistletoe has white berries.” She turned to Draco. “But that hardly matters, does it? Harry likes you, Draco. It’s obvious. He invited you here as his date, you realise?”

“His date?” Draco repeated. There was a roaring sound in his ears that he didn’t particularly mind. Harry liked him. Harry wanted to kiss him again.

And then through the mass of redheads, Draco saw, behind Ron and Hermione, a jet-black head bobbing towards them. He acted instinctively with a wordless Wingardium Leviosa.

The Weasleys parted and there was Harry, as frustratingly gorgeous as always, staring at Draco as if, as if he really did like him. Shit. Draco was already blushing.

“Draco,” Harry said moving forward to stand in front of Draco, “You’re still here.” He sounded relieved.

Draco let his eyes dart up to the holly above them, so Harry would notice. “I’ve been waiting for something. Or someone.”

When he looked back down to Harry, he was pleased – and relieved – to find his cheeks were flaming as well. They may not have had the red hair, but they were certainly colour-matching the Weasley clan now.

The loud Weasley chatter around the yard had quieted. Everything was still. It seemed everyone was watching Harry and Draco.

Draco supposed he would have to be the brave one. He had never been before. But even though he was in unfamiliar territory with unfamiliar people, he somehow felt comfortable. Felt safe. So, he leaned forward and planted a kiss on Harry Potter, to the cheers and applause of the entire Weasley family.

When they split apart, Draco had no time to talk to Harry, as they were both pulled into separate hugs by Weasley family members. And it kept going – Draco received hugs and pats on the back from what seemed like everyone at the party.  There were words of encouragement too:

“Good on you, Draco.”

“Always knew it was mutual.”

“We’d heard enough of Harry’s pining, you know?”

And Draco’s favourite:

“Welcome to the family.”

Draco caught Harry’s eye – he was currently enveloped in Molly Weasley’s arms – and smiled. For the first time, Draco felt like perhaps he belonged.

A/N: i was forced at gunpoint tonight to write a s4 drabble about bellarke realizing how the other feels about them. Rated T. WC: 1455.

It’s quiet.

Somehow, quiet is always around Bellamy. It’s like he wears it on his shoulders, along with all the pain and hurt and guilt. She doesn’t know if he’s even aware he projects it. All she knows is when she’s sitting with him like she is tonight, sorting meat packages into piles for storage for Alpha Station’s five years weathering out the storm, everything just feels calmer.

“Pass me the checklist,” Bellamy rumbles, nudging her hand with his. It’s the first thing either of them have said for the past half hour.

She obliges, and he squints at it.

“We’ve got to sort those.” He points. Clarke glances around. “Into different kinds of meat. We forgot to do that.”

“Then we have to do it again,” she exhales, and rakes a hand through her hair, nails digging into her own scalp. That will take another twenty minutes at least. Heavy frustration washes over her in a wave. There’s too much to do. Too many small details to iron out. “There’s not enough time.”

She hears him taking a deep breath— it’s no secret that they’re both counting down the minutes. But when he speaks, his voice is even. “There’ll be plenty of time soon enough. Five years, to be exact.”

She looks up, finds him watching her, dark eyes unreadable, and nods, her throat still feeling tight.

They resume sorting, but this time, it’s his shoulders that are drawn tight, and Clarke feels terrible right then for reminding him how little time they had, as if he weren’t already thinking about it every moment of the day. She scrambles for something to say to distract him. “What do you think you’ll do?”

Bellamy looks up, quirks up a brow.

She clarifies. “What do you think you’ll do with those five years?”

MASTERLIST

Request: Can you do something like Keep It Down but with Aaliyah being in the room.

Word count: 3,512

I was lying between each of Shawn’s thighs on the couch, my back resting against his broad chest and his arms wrapped tightly around me.

We were cuddled up and tangled together under a warm blanket, watching some random movie on the TV that Aaliyah really wanted us to see with her. Aaliyah was lying under another blanket in the beanbag in front of us, resting her head on the edge of the grey sofa.

Atomic Blonde (and why I’m a Sapphic who adored it)

Okay, first off…WOW! What a ride that film was! After having a full 24hrs  to really digest this film, I can honestly say that this film really blew my  expectations, in so many different ways. Since there seems to be so much  discourse over this film, I thought I would post a POSITIVE list of all the  reasons why this film is as important and special to me as it is, even with  That Scene. As Lorraine Broughton would say, “ Shall We?”

Okay first off, the obvious…

  • AESTHETIC MUCH!?
  • 80′s soundtrack with phenomenal remixes.
  • NEON FOR DAYS!!
  • Charlize Theron, playing a truly Bad-Ass Bisexual MI6 Agent while still looking sexy as Hell!
  • The action was some of the best I have ever witnessed!
  • The general setting of this film, Communist Berlin, gives a remarkable window into just what the Cold War in its later stages entailed. The Cold War was perhaps one of the most deceitful wars in history, and when you figure in just how sensitive the situation was, you realize that Every. Move. Counts.

Lorraine Broughton

  • She owns my ass.
  • Again, we have an Openly-Bisexual Female Lead, who’s only main love interest is another woman!
  • Charlize Theron not only did 98% of all her own stunts, but she sustained injuries because of it.
  • I loved her characterization, it was one of the highlights of this film. We often forget that movies like this are hardly ever realistic, but in this film the opening scene is of Lorraine, MI6′s Top Agent, wearily trying to attend to her beaten body. She is barely alive, and as the film goes on we see just how much of a toll her physical and emotional well-being takes due to the nature of her job. As the film progresses we see her grow more cold and disconnected to the point where she is practically numb to those around her (her interrogation, mostly).
  • She wins all her fights, but not without repercussions. Her body takes. A. Beating. And unlike most films her wounds don’t just magically disappear or just “get better”. No, they are there for weeks, in all their ugliness, to display just how vulnerable as a person she is, whilst also reminding those who see her how tough and strong she has to be just to merely survive.

Lorraine and Delphine

  • Okay, first off…OMG THESE TWO!
  • Sofia Boutella was adorable as Delphine, and the way her innocence and naive-ness abolutely melted Lorraine was so cute!
  • The way Lorraine looked at Delphine with such intrigue, and the way Delphine looked at Lorraine with such awe.
  • The whole “Harold, they’re Lesbians”-like scenario with the dude at the bar (even tho Lorraine is Bi).
  • Again, we get another glimpse into Lorraine’s characterization here, which is basically she gets distracted by pretty girls we see that, even though Lorraine is still skeptical of Delphine at first, she very easily falls for her, a softness that we up until that point had yet to see in her.
  • Delphine’s slight hesitance when she gives Lorraine that adorably soft kiss and Lorraine’s shyness in returning it!
  • The way we see Lorraine follow Delphine into a more private place and being so dazed and transfixed by this tiny French Girl is mesmerizing and makes my heart skip a beat!
  • OMG their wicked make-out session and the slamming against the wall and the WHOLE SCENE THAT FOLLOWS I COULD NOT BREATH!
  • “…So you made contact with the French Operative?” “Obviously”
  • Lorraine in nothing but a sweater looking over Delphine as she sleeps-watching, wondering, worrying about what will happen to her.
  • THEY GOT TOGETHER MORE THAN ONCE!
  • AFTER-SEX SNUGGLES!
  • Honestly, them snuggling was one of the most tender moments in the whole film. For once it feels as though Lorraine is being genuine with Delphine, which she picks up on.
  • Lorraine stroking Delphine’s hair while Delphine nudges her head in Lorraine’s neck is so precious. The way Lorraine is so gentle with her and laughs and smiles at her makes my heart melt so much! She cares so much for this one woman she just met and it is so beautiful!
  • Tiny Soft Nose Kisses!
  • The fact their relationship, no matter how brief, is actually a small subplot means so much because it really feels like this was for us Sapphics, despite what happens later.

That Scene among other things

  • Oh boy, here we go. In my opinion, I did not see this as partaking in the horrid “Kill Your Gays” trope.
  • We saw it coming in the trailer you guys, and I was fully prepared for this scenario.
  • She was a naive, inexperienced spy who got too close to Lorraine, and suffered the ultimate price for it. This happened to all of Lorraine’s lovers (although I honestly think she was just using her first one for information, where as she truly cared for Delphine).
  • Delphine Fought. Back. Hard! And she did a damn good job at keeping up. But unfortunately she did not have the skill nor the experience to win that battle. She is not Lorraine, who barely came out the mission alive!
  • This is a spy film about the Cold War, there were going to be many, many casualties. Lorraine (Another Queer) was the only one to make it out alive.
  • When Lorraine found Delphine, I truly felt for her then. This is the first time we see her fully shut down as she Empathetically mourns her girlfriend (which we hardly get to see in general, the LGBT Hero mourning the death of their lover).
  • At this point, after all that she has gone through (the beatings, the betrayals, the loss of intelligence, etc) this is the one thing that finally breaks her, and LORRAINE. IS. FUCKING. DONE.
  • She is done with everything around her, and we see this as she goes from on-the-ground vulnerable to STONE. COLD. NOTHING. And she goes out for blood, and Damn-It does she get it! She shows no mercy for Delphine’s killer, and it is obvious that this is revenge in its most raw form.
  • In the end this is a story about a spy in the Cold War, and in a genre like this things are going to be very brutal. We see this brutality play out on Lorraine, and how it affects her and all of those involved. She made it out with her life, and that was her reward.
  • So Delphine’s death, to me, was the final Plot Point to move us into the final act, as it was portrayed as the one act of Evil that Crossed That Line, and to further the Characterization of Lorraine.
  • I could go one about the phenomenal action sequences, because I have never witnessed such raw and realistic fighting in an action movie, and to have a Female Bisexual as the lead taking as much as she dishes out was both horrifying yet empowering!

Of course everyone is entitled to their opinion, and if you think this film will seriously trigger you, then by all means please take care of your well-being, because that is ultimately the most important thing.

Was I sad that Delphine died? Yes, of course! Did I see it as strictly because she was gay? No, I did not. Do I see this as good representation? Ultimately, yes because I still felt incredibly valid as a Bisexual in more ways than one with this film, and the last time I felt this good about myself was when I first saw Carol (2015) dir. Todd Haynes in theaters (which nothing will ever top that film).

But for everyone else, please GO SEE THIS FILM. For the one negative we must also see all it’s Astonishing Positives this film has, and for it to get the attention and praise that it has is such a big deal for all of us, because if we show our support for this truly Rare Gem then they will make a sequel, and other films like it! Only then can we move forward!

UPDATE: So I just saw Atomic Blonde today for the second time in one week, and upon my second viewing I’ve come to realize just how much I love this film, and why it beat out my expectations originally! And it mainly falls back to what I discussed earlier, about Lorraine and Delphine’s romance and Lorraine herself, for instance:

  • Again, I love Lorraine’s characterization! Being more aware of the story my second time-round, I got to focus more on Lorraine herself, and I think I underestimated just how cold and numb and positively DONE she is by the “end” of her mission (again, in reference to her interrogation).
  • The physical and emotional toll on her and her body really is just as prominent as I remember, and my goodness I cannot recall another film where I actually left the theatre physically exhausted by what I just watched. Everything she’s endured sort of rubs off on you, and if that isn’t the most engrossing experience a character can portray, than I do not know what is.
  • Delphine and Lorraine, my god I love their relationship! It is the only relationship in the whole film solely built on attraction and Mutual Trust, so much so where they would rather protect each other over their mission.
  • In fact, going in this movie the first time all I was expecting between them was the “One Night Stand” that was so heavily portrayed in the trailers-which I would of been happy with-and, (just like in the trailers) I prepared myself for Delphine’s demise soon after-But we had an entire subplot dedicated to their relationship, right up to the very end!
  • Because of this Lorraine’s and Delphine’s romance felt genuine, filled with love and tenderness and worry and drive to protect each other-and that really is beautiful representation.
  • Which, I believe, is why Lorraine truly shuts down when it all goes south, and why we see the Lorraine we do in her interrogation. SHE IS COLD. SHE IS BEATEN. AND SHE IS TIRED.
  • In the end, I do think she cared more for Delphine than past lovers, which is why she seems so utterly broken when we first see her. She went back to Delphine even after her superiors threatened to end her, and she lied about Delphine to protect her from them, even though she was gone.

Anyway, as you can see this film really did a number on me, and I am absolutely fine with that! I apologize for making my crazy long post even longer, but there were things I still wanted to get off my chest, because this really is a Dream Film-a Queer, Female Lead 80′s Spy Film actually exists, and I think Atomic Blonde really hit it out of the park-and has ruined all other action films for me here-on out!

I hope you don’t mind that I changed it up a little? (also I’m not very good at writing smut soz.) Hope you enjoy!

“Don’t you understand how this makes me feel?” Draco yelled. It was the second time this week that they were fighting at two in the morning. “I’m worried sick every night, waiting for you to get home! Not knowing if you’re alive or dead! It’s like we’re seventeen again!” Harry was an Auror, and a good one at that. They sent him out on missions every night, almost all of them ending at ungodly hours of the night.

“I’m not just going to quit my job for you! This is the only thing I’m good at! The only thing that gives me some sort of purpose in life! So you’re just going to have to deal with it.” Harry yelled back, poking a finger at his chest.

“Well, what if I can’t deal with it!” He pushed Harry away from him. “I hardly eat because I’m so worried. I don’t sleep because I’m up all night waiting for you. Hoping that you come home through the floo instead of some Ministry official.” Tears were now pouring down Draco’s face.

“IT’S NOT MY FAULT YOU CAN’T FUNCTION WITHOUT ME!”

Show Me That You Love Me

(ao3, buzzfeed article that inspired this nonsense)

(Monday, Feb 6)

Clarke: FYI, I’m telling my coworkers that we’re dating so this creep will stop hitting on me
AT WORK

Bellamy: You can’t just leave it at that.
How creepy are we talking?
You know if I don’t get specifics my mind jumps straight to the worst-case scenario.

Clarke: It’s not that big a deal? Mostly just annoying
But he won’t take no for an answer so I told him I had a boyfriend

Bellamy: Not a girlfriend?

Clarke: They know I’m bi already because I ranted about gross stereotypes at the Christmas party
It’s why they instituted a two-drink limit
And if he doesn’t respect my hard “no” I doubt he’ll respect my girlfriend’s so
Boyfriend

Bellamy: You sure you don’t want to date him? He sounds like a charmer.

Clarke: I was sure the first fifteen times he asked and my decision hasn’t wavered.
I wouldn’t have even mentioned it to you except I know Anya comes to the bar sometimes and I didn’t want you to blow my cover

Bellamy: Consider your cover secure.

Clarke: Thanks. I owe you one.

Bellamy: What are fake boyfriends for?

* * *

(Wednesday, Feb 8)

Clarke: WTF???

Bellamy: I see you got my flowers.

Clarke: They’re hard to miss seeing as they take up MY WHOLE CUBICLE
It smells like a rainforest
My allergies are killing me
Seriously. Why.

Bellamy: Can’t I just show my fake girlfriend that I appreciate her?
Why must you always assume I have ulterior motives?

Clarke: Because I know how expensive flowers can be and you’re the biggest coupon-clipping Scrooge I know

Bellamy: I’m helping!
I’m just trying to back up your story, Princess.

Clarke: You’re just trying to embarrass me in front of my coworkers is what you’re doing

Bellamy: Remember that time you made me do karaoke with you?
Some might consider us even now.

Clarke: You know Valentine’s Day is next week right? If you do something like this on a random Wednesday, you’re going to have to do something for that too or else Cage will think we’ve broken up

Bellamy: So I’m going to have to top myself is what you’re saying.

Clarke: I don’t think that’s what I said at all

Bellamy: If you insist, Princess.

Clarke: I don’t insist. I STRONGLY DO NOT INSIST.

Bellamy: Unrelated question: what song would you most like to have serenaded to you?

Clarke: If that’s how it’s gonna be then start preparing yourself
Cause it’s on, Blake

Bellamy: Dammit, I did not think this through.

We Are Young: Chapter 9

Throne of Glass High School AU

Summary: Senior Rowan Whitethorn is new to town. It doesn’t take him long to get use to a new school, make new friends, even join the local hockey team. But it also doesn’t take him long to meet sophomore and figure skater Aelin Galathynius. And it doesn’t take him long to realize one thing; he can’t stand her.

Previous Chapter | Next Chapter

——————–

These past couple weeks were the most confusing and heart-wrenching ones of Elide’s short life.

After skipping school the first couple days after she and Manon called it quits, Elide realized she couldn’t hide forever. From both school, and her Uncle. Because she couldn’t exactly stay home when she skipped, so she would spend her days hiding out around town. But there were only so many places she could hide in public.

When she finally did go back to school, she avoided Manon. Not because she was scared to actually run into her. But because she didn’t think she’d actually be able to handle it. Seeing Manon meant facing all the questions she still had yet to figure out. Questions she didn’t even know how to start answering.

Her whole life she thought she had to choose. Boys or girls. She never really took to boys when she was younger, mainly because a lot of the boys her age bullied her. Her first crush had been a girl. She was sweet and nice, and after her parents died, she had a person. A someone she cared about. And a never-ending fear of what that meant, when she realized that she liked girls, and that her uncle would never be okay with it. Over the years, she thought some boys cute, but she liked girls. She was sure of it. She had to choose, right?

That’s what Elide always believed. Until she finally kissed a boy. Until she kissed Lorcan. Until she realized she liked it.

natalie-j-cross  asked:

Just wondering, how do you manage to stay motivated? I always struggle to do so. Thanks!

Honestly speaking, I really struggled with staying motivated in my final two years at uni. Basically, this gif was an accurate representation of how I felt up until graduation:

[assuming that I got out of bed at all. tbh. you can track some of it here.]

Here’s a few things that helped me stay somewhat motivated aka:

“mate, teach me how to give a shit about my studies”

1. Start small.

Sometimes, its just a matter of momentum. Start with a small task for the day. Something that can be completed in 10-20 minutes. Knock off the easiest things on your list of things to do. That way, even if your arvo falls into an endless pit of procrastination, you’

2. Target your study method.

I think one of the strongest demotivators was studying for long hours and then failing to get the results I wanted. On my lowest days my thought process would be something along the lines of, “what’s the point of studying this - heck, I’ll just do as poorly as last time.”

The only way to get over that was to target my study for the examination at hand. I saved a lot of time whilst achieving decent grades. Two birds, one stone.

3. Shake things up

Study the same shit but in a different way. Whether that be writing notecards, finding videos online, group study, drawing up some mindmaps, screaming it at the mirror.

4. Look for inspirational shit

Whether it be something related to your field of study or not. It might be as simple as going on a youtube spiral on an aspect of your field of study, or finding an aspirational figure.

If you’re the type that responds to motivational quotes - great! Print out great A3 sizes of motivational quotes and plaster them all over your study space.

Personally, I respond better to the the dry humour sarcastic motivation. In that respect, #reallawblr and @lawschoolruinedme were very much my sources of inspiration.

TL;DR find what inspires you.

5. Fuck it all

Look, sometimes you need a break from studying in order to get back into studying. Kinda like those long term old-couple relationships you see in tv soap operas where the biggest plot point of the season is “oh, I’m so bored of my long term partner, how will I ever keep this relationship alive!” (bad analogy, but i feel like this is a good time to admit that I’m running on 2 hours sleep here).

Remind yourself of who you are outside of your school/university life. You are much much more than the sum of your academic achievements.

….to be frank, I found that I needed to take a small break from studying in order to be motivated ‘to’ study. That includes pursuing interests outside my academic life - catching up with friends, tv shows, heck even doing physical exercise.

Heck, you might even find a new hobby! I got into hockey due to a procrastination spiral. 4 months on and I’m a frickin’ hockey nerd. And i live in Australia, where there’s hardly any ice/snow to speak of.

And that may mean stop trying so hard to find motivation. Because that may be exhausting. While I know many people turn to studyblr as a source of motivation, I’ll admit there was a long period where I just had to avoid studyblr. Because it was draining to come home to posts about pens/study/stationery/TIPSFORA4.0GPA or whatever. After a 10 hour stint of study, the last thing I wanted to do was to spend my free time talking about studying lmfao.

My ramblings aside, here’s a list of ‘targeted’ tips that may help with those motivation levels!!

All the best hun!

11 THINGS THAT EXPLAIN WHAT IT’S LIKE TO BE AN INTROVERTED EMPATH

If you’re an empath, you probably already know that you see and feel things in a unique way. Empaths have the innate ability to truly understand other people, whether they know them well or not. With their unprecedented abilities to be selfless in a self-serving world, empaths might often feel used by others or out of place. But empaths, I’m here to let you know there are more people like you out there than you think. Upon discovering the term “empath,” it really helped explain a few things about why I am the way I am. There are a lot of ways I can describe my personality: introverted, INFJ, or a highly sensitive person (HSP), but I think being an empath is really at the core of who I am. (What’s your personality type? We recommend this free personality test.)

So, here are 11 things that helped me explain some of the out-of-the-ordinary parts of my personality I didn’t understand before. They may not be true for every introverted empath, but they are definitely true to the empath in me:

1. Empaths walk in other people’s shoes with little effort. One of the easiest things for an empath to do is understand what another person is going through. That is, in essence, the definition of the word “empathy,” which Merriam-Webster describes as “the action of understanding, being aware of, being sensitive to, and vicariously experiencing the feelings, thoughts, and experience of another.” In short, empathy is walking in someone’s shoes even if they’ve walked a completely different path than anything you’ve experienced. Now, this isn’t to say that empaths have a supernatural ability to comprehend any human situation, experience, or feeling — we’re just better at it than most.

2. We feel deeply. I don’t know how else to explain it, but it’s as if my emotions seem to be more heightened than others around me. This can be both a blessing and a curse. On the upside, people will know I care about them without me even having to really say it. However, there are times where a greater tendency towards apathy would make my life easier; it’s tiring to constantly be experiencing strong emotions. For example, when I’m grieving — whether it be the loss of a loved one or a dramatic and unpleasant change in my life — my insomnia worsens, my moods plunge, I listen to a lot of sad music, and it becomes all too easy to choke up and lose myself.

3. We can be brought to tears over seemingly insignificant things. I’ve cried while looking at an exhibit in a museum, reading books, listening to someone tell a story, and especially while watching or reading the news. Tears come easy to me but when they do, I often need to assess where they’re coming from: the empath in me or the HSP. Both aspects of my personality can lead to an emotional response, but it’s important to identify in myself where the emotion is coming from in order to move on from that moment.

4. We are passionate. One reason we may get emotional easily is that we have a large capacity for passion. If there’s a subject, people group, or situation we truly care about helping, we will throw ourselves into the effort. If we believe what we’re doing will truly help someone, we may even be willing to go out of our comfort zones to get it done — even us introverted empaths.

5. We listen because we truly care. It’s against our nature not to care. We go beyond the shallow definition of “people-pleaser” because we not only place a lot of value in how others perceive us but also in that we don’t want to let anyone down. We have a passion for other people, and one thing about people is they love to feel heard. As empaths, we know this and look to offer a listening ear.

6. We love serving. Empaths have servant hearts: It’s hard for us to see suffering and not want to help. When we’re choosing how to spend our time, we often look for activities that have a purpose and meaning behind them. While I’ve been a student, I’ve always been drawn to organizations surrounding volunteer work. Maybe it’s partially nurture — how I was raised — but I think it’s also definitely a part of my nature, linked to the empath I am. Looking after others is also one of the ways we ourselves feel fulfilled because it’s often easier to focus on the struggles of others rather than ourselves.

7. We get other people’s feelings but not always our own. It’s kind of like having the ability to know who is crushing on your friend but being completely oblivious to the possibility that someone likes you. Reading other people’s feelings? For an empath, that’s a piece of cake. Sorting out our own inner turmoil? More often than not, a complete and utter fail. You’d think self-awareness is a fundamental human trait, but for some of us, it’s a bit trickier to figure out. Empaths feel and understand so much that sifting out their own feelings from the feelings of others can be a daunting task — albeit a necessary one.

8. We read people well. Empaths often consider the effect their words will have on the listener, because they want to know that what they’re saying or doing isn’t going to negatively impact someone. This mode of calculated conversation and action can provide empaths with a large store of knowledge as to what makes people tick.

9. We have strong, lasting connections with people we may not have interacted with in years. Once we bond with someone, it can often take on a “till-death-do-us-part” type of existence. Distance, separation, and time may cause our surface level relationship to corrode, but we still feel a strong affinity for the person who meant a lot to us at one point in time, even long after we’ve parted ways.

10. We’re often labeled as being overly sensitive or emotional. Telling someone that an emotional response makes them weak is an argument people have been using against various groups for ages. They may not be singled out in this, but empaths often fall into one or more of the groups under such reproach. Especially if you’re a male empath, people might see your sensitivity and tell you that you need to “man up.” Our culture associates masculinity and power with rationality — as if an emotional response is never the rational one. (Personally, I think there are many scenarios in which it could be construed as highly irrational to lack any emotion.) So empaths, stay strong in your own uniquely sensitive way; the world could use a whole lot more people like you.

11. Empaths are sought after but often underappreciated. Not all empaths are introverts, but the ones that are tend to be affected more by this one. When you’re a genuine, attentive listener who gives good advice, people and their problems tend to flock to you. It doesn’t even matter if they know you hardly at all, but something about empaths makes people decide to bare their souls. It’s not really that much of a shock that this happens if you consider how good at being understanding empaths are, though it can at times become frustrating. We do care immensely about the well-being of others, and that’s why we may bite our tongues and sit down to listen to someone rant about the same things again. However, empaths need to beware of one-sided relationships where they’re giving all of themselves and not receiving anywhere near the same in return.

A Final Note to Empaths

My dear empaths, you were born hard-wired to put others first. Your selfless attitude is both courageous and compassionate. Just don’t forget that it’s important to take care of yourself, too. There will be people who won’t appreciate your sensitivity or will seek to use your empathetic demeanor for their own gain; and these are the people that are not worth anguishing over. Instead, seek out the people and the places that will value you and support you as much as you support them. And don’t let someone convince you that caring for other people isn’t worth it. But then again, I’m sure you know that already.

Iwaoi fluff Headcanons.

I am an absolute hoe for Iwa [and Oikawa I guess] Ask anyone of my mutuals or my friends, they know. Be it his personality, character, quirks; no matter what people may thik of him, I love this boy with my life. Also, Iwaoi is my absolute favourite ship, and since I need something to do while I suffer from writer’s block for chapter 2 of Drowning in my Demons, have this post dedicated to my precious cinnamon buns. So, if you love Iwa [And his Tofu-nugget] as much as I do, sit back and enjoy these little headcanons I came up with.

  • Iwa is definitely the cuddly-type. He loves snuggling in bed, hugging his Godzilla plushie when he’s alone while having some popcorn watching movies. Occasionally, he falls asleep mid-way through the movie, but that’s a rare feat, when this happens, his mom tends to laugh it off and help tuck him snuggly into his bed. However, when Oikawa comes over and they share a bed, he is the small spoon while Tooru is the big spoon. He always ends up nuzzling into the bigger’s chest, and Tooru lovingly stroking his hair. He secretly takes photographs of the raven and sets it as his wallpaper.
  • When reversed and Iwa sleeps over at Oikawa’s house, he never brings his own clothes. I get that people usually see Oikawa to be the type to steal Iwa’s clothes, but for me, I imagine Iwa to mock Tooru’s dreadful fashion sense but steal his hoodies anyway. Tooru has no complaints and lets his boyfriend do what he wants; he secretly loves it because Haji just looks good in over-sized clothes.
  • Also, bonus, Iwa smacking Tooru with the long-ass sleeves rather than headbutting him. Tooru retaliates by tickling Hajime till he gives in. They collapse onto the bed and Tooru apologises with forehead kisses.
  • When Iwa wakes up, he can barely open his eyes, he expects Tooru to be in bed with him, so when he isn’t, he will very softly call for him. Tooru finds it adorable and showers him with kisses. But when they do wake up in bed together, he will cuddle as close as he can to Oikawa who would probably be using his phone.
  • Tooru trying the face-swap filter on snapchat with Iwa, and casually saying, “These would be what our children would like.” Iwa is a fucking mess and Oikawa is laughing so hard. Also, Oikawa has at least 341 pictures of Iwa with the puppy filter, the fact that he’s eyes are closed most of the time makes it a hundred times funnier. He sends them to Mattsun and Makki, and even those two find Iwa adorable.
  • Hajime trying to get out of bed but Tooru won’t let him. He’s using kisses and cuddles as a distraction.
  • My headcanon is that Tooru gets sick easily because of how much milkbread he eats. He most commonly gets a flu or a bad cold but they quickly go away after a few days. As for Hajime, he hardly falls ill, but when he does, it’s the most heartbreaking thing. Once he was running an abnormally high fever and had to stay overnight at the hospital? Oikawa spent an entire day trying to perfect a soup and his favourite Agedashi Tofu before bringing it to the raven. Iwa is extremely thankful and promises him kisses when he gets better.
  • Iwa has a dwarf bunny that he loves with all he has, instead of calling it Godzilla, he calls it Tofu because of how white and fragile she is. She was actually a present from his mom as a replacement for not getting him a puppy; he doesn’t mind and is just happy he has something to take care of. He spends hours grooming her fur in his bed and sometimes, she accompanies him as he watches a movie. Iwa has trained her to sit and lie down and even hop. She is also incredibly intelligent given the fact that she will squeak for attention. She is a good bunny and loves Tooru as well, Iwaizumi’s mom jokingly said it’s like Tofu is their shared child.
  • Oikawa’s and Iwaizumi’s mother sharing cute things their sons did for the other. How Hajime was learning to make milkbread to give it to Tooru on his birthday, and how Oikawa had suggested building a blanket fort before watching Godzilla together. They are close friends and the biggest shippers.
  • When they have the house to themselves, Iwa is the one preparing breakfast, Tooru tries distracting him with a lot of kissing and hugs from behind and now the pancakes are burning. They have a heated make-out session on the countertop before they actually realise the smell of smoke.
  • They take baths in the bathtub together. They end up having a splash war and wetting the entire bathroom. Sometimes Iwa sits in Oikawa’s lap while the brunette washes his hair and hugs him. He also takes this rare chance to leave a few hickies.
  • Blanket forts being their childhood tradition. Oikawa decorating the blanket fort with fairy lights and throwing in as many pillows as he could possibly find. When Iwa comes over, he has his laptop all prepared with their favourite snacks. Oikawa likes watching Iwa quote lines from the movie, Hajime has no idea he’s paying more attention to him than the actual movie. And it’s best if it stays that way.
  • Hardcore Mario kart wars, there is no fluff, only profanities, cusses and death.
  • Oikawa will tease Hajime with his cereal by holding the box as high as he can, he has lanky limbs so Iwa can’t reach them. As payback, he sneaks out while Oikawa is sleeping before getting a cup of cold water and pouring it on his face, not forgetting to say, “WHO’S THE SHORT ONE NOW ASSHOLE??”
  • Hajime has freckles all over his body; and sometimes he’s really insecure about them. Tooru assures him it’s fine and makes sure to kiss all of them.
  • Look me in the goddamn eye and tell me these two don’t sit together on the bus to training camps and shit. Because I swear, they will sit together and even share ear pieces, sometimes they doze off and fall asleep, Iwa usually resting on Oikawa’s broader shoulders.
  • Iwa likes collecting succulents and small plants. He displays them on his desk or by his window-sill. He gives them names and Tooru thinks it’s both funny and cute.
  • Have some cute flustered Iwa when Tooru calls him babe in front of the team. And also, the entire team letting out whoops and cheers and Iwa just wants to hide in a hole. Sometimes they stare at each other like love-struck idiots and the Matsuhana duo use this amazing opportunity to tease them. Tooru coming up from behind to give Hajime a surprise kiss.
  • Tooru finding every excuse to hold Hajime’s hand, and Iwa giving in.
  • They once went to build-a-bear together and made a stuffed crocodile that Iwa for some odd reasons says is a Zoey. Iwa has it next to his Godzilla plushie.
  • Having so many cheesy dates. A picnic date, stargazing, to the aquarium, the zoo, a waterpark. These two have the cutest most romantic dates and everyone is jealous. Bonus if they get each other presents.
  • Iwa tackling the fuck out of Oikawa after not having seen him for months. Tooru laughs and tries his best to force out a “Did you miss me?” as Iwa lays on his chest. IWaizumi saying in a dead-serious tone, “Of course I did.”
  • During winter, they like cuddling by the fireplace, Iwa is mumbling on about how flippin cold it is, and Tooru just watching him go on endearingly. They have a huge blanket out and everything along with some hot cocoa. Half-way during their cuddling session, Tooru starts kissing Hajime’s neck. He heats up and ask what the hell is he doing and Tooru just smirking saying he’s helping him warm up. Hajime is upset cause it worked.
  • Hajime has cute soft sneezes.
  • Before they fall asleep, Tooru likes singing for Iwa. Some of his favourites are You are my Sunshine, Can’t help falling in love and Perfect. He may not have the best voice but Iwa loves it either way.
  • When Iwa starts falling asleep, Tooru quietly whispers a sweet “I love you” before dozing off too.

I’m dedicating this to some of the few friends I’ve made here, [I’m so sorry if you don’t consider me to be one] and just overall really sweet people.

Bucky Imagine #5 | Girls

Warnings: fluff and a tiny bit of smutty themes

Side note, this has been sitting in my drafts for like… 4 weeks

The sound of little feet pattered in the hallway just outside the bedroom door. Hushed whispers made Bucky grin to himself but kept his eyes shut, feigning sleep. The old hinges creaked when cherub hands pushed them open and three new little bodies scaled the comforter like expert rock climbers. They weren’t as stealthy as they believed themselves to be but Bucky played along with their game, staying as still as possible.

“Daddy?” The youngest of the girls asked, poking directly over one of his closed eyelids. He chuckled, popping open his eyes and scooping them up in his arms.

“Gotcha!”

Summary : Your twin sister’s fiance is blind and in the hospital, she’s gone and there’s only you left. Surely a white lie couldn’t hurt.

You stood outside the door, prompting your self to walk away. This wasn’t right in anyway whatsoever. You should just walk away right now, jump in your car and let your sister deal with it. It was her fiance, therefore not your problem.
