Mila J - “Real Love”
Mila J appears slated to hav an impactful 2016. After staying relatively low-key throughout the earlier parts of 2015 with her collaborative project with BC Kingdom Press Start, the Los Angeles-reared songstress re-emerged with the well-received The Waiting Game mixtape which featured her rendition of some of today’s hit records. Now she is slated to lead off the forthcoming mixtape from production maestro Timbaland, King Stays King, and Timbo will be the executive producer for her forthcoming full-length debut album. Mila now returns with a her unique take on another artist’s banger, “Real Love.” Despite its Mary J Blige-sounding title (she even interpolates the hook of Blige’s single), the song is actually a take on J. Cole’s 2014 Forest Hills Drive offering “No Role Modelz.” Essentially the lady’s equivalent of Cole’s catchy “don’t save her, she don’t wanna be saved” chant, Mila instead curves the no-goodnik and isn’t the one to be played in her version. Clearly in higher spirits than the gloomy nature of Press Start, Mila isn’t about to let a little thing like a dog dull her shine.
