no boarders

lxdybxg-and-chxtnxir  asked:

Can you do the Junker daughter after they join overwatch, and she gets kidnapped by Talon and used as a bargaining chip? (I NEED ME SOME ANGST BOI)

Enjoy the angst! Dad Junkrat is just the best!!

The door to the room slides open and shut, but you pay no mind to it, believing it be either Junkrat or Roadhog finally returning. You’re on the boarder of falling asleep, a warm haze of partial consciousness. You snuggle closer to your new stuffed cat toy; a little gift from that fast tracer girl.

Suddenly two large hands grab you and drag you out from your spot. You scream in shock and drop your toy, instantly kicking and shouting for the person to put you down. When you manage to finally see the perpetrator’s face, you don’t know what to think anymore.

A bone white owl’s mask stares back at you.

-

Junkrat’s heart basically stops when he sees you in Reaper’s arms. Your hair is ratted and your eyes are red with unshed tears. Roadhog has to physically restrain his friend from jumping into the middle of the firefight.

“I know this brat belongs to you,” Reaper barks out, “I’ll blow her head off if you don’t cease fire.”

The fight falls silent, the order to stop shooting ringing through everyone’s ear piece.

“What do you want, Reaper?” 76 demands, stepping out with his gun still raised. “Let the kid go.”

“Where are the two that own this little runt?” The barrel of his large gun digs into your temple. “Come out, you two. Weapons down.”

Junkrat and Roadhog emerge from their cover, hook and launcher lowered at their sides. You’re shaking in Reaper’s hold and can’t stop from crying out, “Dad! Help!”

“Shut up.” The ghost pinches your cheeks with his claws. “Now, I’m going to need all the blueprints for those big bad weapons you’re planning on making. Or, you won’t have a daughter anymore, rat.”

Junkrat doesn’t know what to do, his head is empty, his heart is cold, and his limbs won’t listen to him. He wants to run forward and scoop you up in his arms, but knows he can’t with all these guns pointed at you. No one should be touching his daughter.

“You’re not getting those plans,” 76 snaps.

Reaper pays no mind and stares down the two junkers. There’s a sick amusement in his tone as he speaks, “Maybe I won’t kill her. No, maybe I’ll just dump her off in the middle of Junkertown. How long do you think she’ll survive on her own there? How far do you think she’ll get before another man snatches her up and makes her his ‘daughter’?” He pats your head lovingly. “I don’t think they’ll be as nice as you, rat.”

Junkrat’s glare is full of hate and malice for the wraith. The second he gets the chance, he’s going to blow the fuckers head off.

Antique Persian Rug - circa 1970s / 64 x 41 / 192cm x 126cm This is a beautiful dark red worn Persian rug. It is a great size that works well for a medium area rug underneath a coffee table or in a wider hallway. It features 5 geometric medallions in its design and has intricate interlocking hook shapes along the boarder. The rug is a deep red color that will really ground a room. It has low pile and is hand knotted. No holes, light wear from age / use. This rug is from the 19… Interior Design Home

I don’t often make non-art posts here, but there’s been a recent event involving a certain abhorrent fandom who I’m sure you’re all familiar with that’s really been bugging me.

As some of you are aware of a Steven Universe art book was released, there was a scrapped designed for a crystal gem named “concrete” with features that might bare semblance to a certain race or racial stereo type.  Alongside said concept piece were some notes from a writer on the show (writer/boarder?  I’m not entirely sure) that mention they “can’t read” and “collects shoes”.  All of these together have people hooting and hollering over a bunch of silly coincidences, which is par the course for that particular group of people.  They complain at every turn when it comes to stuff they deem as “social injustices” or some kind of “racial prejudice” in relation to these characters or plot points for the story.  Let’s get some shit straight though:

Steven Universe is a work of fiction.  The people behind Steven Universe don’t have any ill-intent with what they’re creating.

There’s a lot of stupid kids on this website, and for every stupid kid there’s at least 2-3 adults that aren’t right in the head that believe they’re doing the right thing by starting witch hunts and doing everything within their power to ruin a creator.  For example:

The wording in their posts is that of someone who believes what they’re doing is slick, what they’re doing is undoubtedly the right thing.  This person legitimately believes trying to learn who wrote some words that were attributed to some other person’s random concept art scribble for the sake of shitting on them is the right thing to do and will encourage the creator’s of the show to keep bending to their demands.  You’re a part of several things that stifle creators visions, you’re legit contributing to the ruination of an art form because you’re doing backflips to insist that something is racist, and going an extra step just to run some unrelated person’s name into the ground.

I don’t even like this show.  Steven Universe isn’t a cartoon I enjoy, I’d say it’s bad in a lot of places.  I wouldn’t, however, say that I hate it so much that I think the team behind it needs to catch shit over something this petty.  They especially don’t need this coming from people who exist for the sole purpose of dragging down creators because they deem a piece of media is that offensive to their sensibilities.  This nonsense as reached a fever pitch and now is the absolute best time to tell the loud minority: “No.  What we created wasn’t meant to offend.  These are the people responsible, their intent wasn’t to offend.  This design wasn’t even used, calm down.”

Children out for blood, shit, adults with the _mindset of children_ out for blood over a cartoon.  You’re absolutely mad if you believe this is the way to settle a disagreement.  If you’re young, don’t get involved with something this trivial.  If you’re an adult and legitimately upset at this, you might be beyond saving.  For the love of God get over yourselves.

Most of us guessed that Navy would end up betraying everyone by the end of the episode.

I don’t think most of us expected that having her go from this:

to this:

would be really good for Lapis’ mental health.

And despite certain people’s fears about certain story boarders… this was actually very much in character for her. I think it’s pretty safe to assume that Lapis has always been cynical, even in her pre mirror days. After she escaped she went from cynical to detached and apathetic. Not an unexpected defense mechanism for someone who was trapped in an inanimate object for 6,000 years. But she has made progress. She trusts Steven and Peridot. Enough not only to express her concerns, but to essentially make a confession.

Life on Earth is really confusing. It took me a long time to get use to it. I’m still getting use to it.

Given everything that’s happened to her on Earth, it’s only natural that she’s having a hard time adjusting. But she’s just confessed her biggest insecurity: she knows she’s having a hard time dealing with what she’s been through, while having to get use to to living a normal life on the planet where her greatest traumas happened. Before the rebellion she would have done her job and left for the next planet, Earth having been a distant memory by this time. But now she can never leave. Earth has to become home.

She wants to move on, but feels guilty about how difficult actually doing that is.

So here comes this I-Insta-Love-All-Things-Earth ruby, who seems freakishly well adjusted from the moment she crashes face first into the planet. Never mind that she was lied to not once, but twice, by the crystal gems. Never mind that she was blasted out into space and abandoned while they stole her ship. All is instantly forgiven and she just wants to be a part of their happy family.

Worse yet? The people Lapis cares most about just buy it. They go right along with it as though Navy’s behavior is perfectly normal. It took time for Lapis to even begin to be okay with the idea of living in Earth and forgiving the crystal gems- she’s still working on it, and it’s painful. She’s worked so hard for every inch of progress she’s made, and here’s someone who’s seemingly able to move on the same day they got to Earth.

I just don’t get it. Why is it so easy for her when it was so hard for me?

So when the perfectly well adjusted Navy turned out to be a gleeful sociopath  gleefully hell bent on revenge, everything fell into place.

Navy’s sudden but inevitable betrayal was the best thing to happen for Lapis’ mental health to date.

So what’s the take away from this? 1) People react differently to trauma. 2) Just because someone seems well adjusted doesn’t mean they are. 3) It’s okay to take a long time to heal from your traumas. It’s okay for it to be a constant work in progress. It’s okay not to be okay.

And at the end of the day, that realization can almost feel like happiness.

When you figure out who the unsub is before the show ends

people used to kinda like the fact that different su boarders have different art styles and i’m not really sure why people are suddenly latching onto it and going “actually this is bad.” it’s been happening since the beginning of the series

like yeah, it’s not the norm for a tv series, but you see shit like that all the time in comic books. it looks weird when you put two very different boarders’ art side by side, but like. it’s always consistent within an episode

“su would be sooo much better if rebecca sugar storyboarded more episodes”

rebecca sugar is responsible for most of the show’s most reviled mistakes. from sugilite’s concept and design, to the human zoo + it being portrayed as an utopia, pearls obsession w/ rose and abuse bc of it,  to bismuths concept and imprisonment, to the diamonds sympathetic portrayal…

that last part specifically, she said that she disliked how yellow diamond was written in “message received”, so she took it upon herself to storyboard her and blue diamond in “that will be all”. whats the big difference in those two episodes? the first got huge critical acclaim. yd was shown as the cold, focused, ruthless dictator she is, with a pearl (slave) who is afraid of her. the second showed her as poor hurt and emotionally repressed, as suffering through her role as a dictator leader, on the verge of crying. with a pearl (slave) who happily served her. and blue diamond, the homophobic dictator, as a sobbing heartbroken mess whos WOAH suddenly gay.

sugar’s work on adventure time, tho extremely popular, also had a lot of glaring mistakes. she was responsible for the twist in fionna and cake- it was a fanfic written by the ice king. ok, funny..but the joke is that the ice king is writing 13 year old fionna/genderbent finn romancing him. or in “i remember you”, jokes likw marceline getting hit on by her father figure the ice king, or the looooads of ableism in that episode that tbh, as someone w/ mental illness in my family, made it hard to watch.

and tho she gets credit for starting bubbline in the show, all the bubbline eps by other boarders wrote them as…getting along, being nice to each other. she wrote them as having a lot of hate and repressed feelings. which creates a pretty bad pattern when u look at the gay relationships she writes in su- the unhealthy mess thats pearls love for rose, aforementioned portrayal of blue diamond… yeaaaa

tl;dr: rebecca sugar has some qualities as a writer, but still creates a lot of awful implications in near everything we’ve seen her do for su and at. she is responsible for most of the shows mistakes
