It’s been more than a year since Colorado formally legalized recreational marijuana, and the police in the rural counties that border the state are reporting big increases in illegal marijuana trafficking.
In Sidney, Neb., Police Chief B.J. Wilkinson is frustrated because he feels that his community, where marijuana is not legal, is bearing some of the consequences of a choice made one state over. He’s concerned about the impact that Colorado’s legalization might have on the culture of small-town Nebraska.
