Nike Air VaporMax Doernbecher designed by 15 year old Andrew Merydith. Merydith’s shoes coordinate perfectly with his favorite green and purple BMX jersey. Andrew used his initials to create a cool logo, and came up with his own hashtag for the outsole: #ilovethefam. #kicksonfire
FRIDAY FOOTWEAR FACTS: Honestly, I am kind of ashamed that it took me this long to cover this. Doernbecher Children’s Hospital is located in Portland, Oregon. They teamed up with Nike in 2004 and allow some of their patients to design their own sneakers! Some proceeds go to benefit the hospital and in the last 10 years over 8 MILLION dollars have been raised for the children! It is so awesome and inspiring that these children get to participate in this. Their unique creativity is always exciting to view.
