One year ago (6.14.12) was the most beautiful and important event I’ve ever planned, our wedding.

My dad has a home in Tuscany, and I’ve always dreamed of having my wedding there. I couldn’t think of a more romantic (and delicious) setting to share with friends and family.

My friend Zoe found old Tuscan stamps on ebay, which we scanned and blew up to use as Save the Date postcards.

Then came the real invitations, designed by Rifle Paper Co.

Envelope calligraphy done by Betsy Dunlap (cheers to the U.S. Post Office for being able to read these beautiful addresses).

Just 1 day wouldn’t do, so we invited everyone to come for a week of Italian festivities.

Each house had a welcome wine crate, filled with wine (duh), water, sunscreen, biscotti, a pool towel, advil (or some Italian hangover cure equivalent), bug spray, and a guide to the area.

We started things off w/ a welcome BBQ in the garden. My grandma (“gram”) slaved away in the kitchen for days making hundreds of meatballs for the occasion. They were all eaten before documented.

The next day was for “kids only” (kids being friends our age).

We took a private bus to the Tuscan beach, Cala Violina where we enjoyed peronis and paninis.

That night we took over the town of Castellina in Chianti and ate pizzas at il Fondaccio, my all time favorite pizzeria.

The other days were spent at the pool lounging and eating, playing basketball, hiking the countryside, late night dancing, and just looking beautiful under the Tuscan sun.

The best day was of course the wedding, which began at sunset.

Before the ceremony guests got loose with a Rosemary Vodka Sour topped w/ prosecco before finding a seat on a hay bale.

I watched everything come together that morning out my bedroom window.

After getting ready (and tipsy) in my room with my mom and besties

I broke tradition and snuck a kiss from Jacob (mainly to get family portraits out of the way before the ceremony).

i’m definitely not an only child anymore !

The ceremony then began by my friend Keith playing guitar

while his daughter (my god baby) Milly Lou “walked” down the aisle w/ her mama Lauren, followed by our families.

I walked from our house down the pebble aisle arm and arm with my dad to the song, Sea of Love.

Zoe married us (in Band of Outsiders or course).

If she ever quits being a lawyer she should be for hire as an officiant.

After we tied the knot (literally, friendship bracelets were tied)

dried lavender was thrown and the sun turned golden.

One of the only things I really wanted at the wedding was a tower of prosecco, which I got.

Guests sipped on bubs and nibbled on parmesan, prosciutto, fried sage and ricotta stuffed zucchini flowers.

love was in the sunset air so cocktail hour became hours.

As Sean sang us an acoustic song under the cherry tree, guests found their name and table number hanging from the branches.

Two long dinner tables wrapped around the pool.

My theme was to keep it local, rustic and Tuscan so we used the colors and elements of the area to decorate.

It’s Italy, so we didn’t skimp out on the food, or wine. There was a 3 course meal prepared and served by Galateo. A meat and two pastas obviously.

After everyone was totally stuffed, it was time to eat more.

The traditional Italian Wedding Cake was served in the garden outside our house.

Once the hard liquor was out, the dancing went off.

our friend Garrett DJ’d and did not disappoint. His now wife, Christine, broke her foot that night from dancing so hard !

Many of us ended the night dancing in the house and skinny dipping in the pool. Luckily neither were documented.

Thank you to my mom and dad, my new family, our grandmas, friends, and Jacob for making my Italian wedding dream come true. Best week ever.

All photos clearly by Lauren Ross.

Cute, flirty, beautiful, successful and down to earth. I fell in love with these uplifting natural shots as soon as I laid eyes on them.

Quotes from Nicole Cari’s interview with Closetvisit:

“Nicole Cari is the Director of Press and Marketing for one of my favorite brands, Band Of Outsiders. Her fiance’s not allowed to put his stuff in her closet. ;)”

1.Describe your personal style.

easy, classic, and comfortable.

3.What are your favorite places to shop?
Online honestly. I usually know the pieces I want so it’s just a matter of finding them.

4. Who are your style icons?
Emmanuelle Alt. Her consistency, simplicity, and confidence make her so chic. She reminds me that you can be “in fashion” and not in such an obvious way.

5. Are there any key pieces you find yourself wearing constantly?
My Boy. oversized army jacket from fall. There’s basically nothing it doesn’t go with perfectly.

easy easter.

Easter dinner was supposed to be easy peasy, until I showed up at Honey Baked an hour after it closed at noon.

Panic and frustration hit hard. no doubt i went off on a rant about their poor business sense for closing early on the one day of the year people actually buy a ham.

After this got me nowhere, and no ham, i headed to Whole Foods for an organic pig with no glaze.

Who knew a glaze was so simple, and fatty (other than Julia Lake).

Just pour a bunch of syrup, honey, and brown sugar all over the ham and bake, then baste, then bake, etc.

It’s always nice to pair a late afternoon of cooking w/ some drinking and cheesing.

That morning i baked an almond creme tart w/ blueberries a la Valleybrink Road

The table was thrown together by Zoe & Lauren. It kept evolving.

Thanks to Lauren Ross for being my drinking buddy, remembering to take photos, and bringing NOVA along.

Honey Baked, i still love you and always will.

an undie party.

my favorite underwear is designed by one of my favorite people, (daph)ne

so when she was coming to town around the holidays, we dreamed up this girly afternoon of shopping undies, eating cookies, and drinking juice (all color coordinated of course).

I first met daphne on a photo shoot for Band of Outsiders a few years ago,

and now she’s a friend and a friend of the brand

Her line TEN is a collection of 3 styles that I find to be perfect in every way.

simple and flattering shapes, beautiful quality fabric, and inspiring colors.

I also adore her packaging and totes, which became party favors for everyone to take home.

(be sure to check out her newest collaboration w/ A Détacher).

TEN girls are all smiles at this party.

special thanks to Lauren Ross for taking these pics, pressed juicery for the delicious juice, Cissy for making the undie cookies, Geronimo for the balloons, and Refinery 29 for the coverage.
