- BEARS USING HELMET-CAM TO EVALUATE QBS - The Chicago Bears have mounted a small camera to the left side of quarterback Matt Blanchard’s helmet during the teams’ rookie minicamp this weekend, the Chicago Tribune reports.
The Bears are hoping the film from the helmet-cam will provide the coaching staff with some useful film that will show exactly what the quarterback is seeing as a play develops.
According to the report, if head coach Marc Trestman finds the footage from the helmet-cam useful, starting quarterback Jay Cutler and back-up Josh McCown will also be fitted for one on their helmets as well.
This isn’t the first time anyone has used the helmet-cam. During minicamp last year, wide receiver Danny Amendola wore one while he was with the St. Louis Rams and Eagles quarterback Michael Vick wore one in practice prior to the Pro Bowl. (Photo: Associated Press)
