Emma & Henry
Before I get lambasted I love Swan Believer but Emma made two very poor parenting decisions tonight.
When she told Henry that the Evil Queen needed to die he asked her not to and her reply was, “I’m the Savior kid.” And he runs off after saying, “You’re also my mom.” My big beef with everyone for the better part of this season has been how they’re so willing to let her fulfill her role as “Savior” even if it means her dying. And they finally have Henry telling her how he feels about her choice not to relinquish the title if it means staying with him and there’s nothing. They rush off to the next scene and give no mind to the child who just expressed a pretty serious “I’m not cool with this” in regards to his mothers death. Does no one thing to maybe take a pause to see how he’s doing? There was nothing particularly time sensitive at that moment that she couldn’t have taken off her Savior hat and put on the Mom hat. Leaving Regina to look after him doesn’t do anything because his concern was with Emma. She needed to put his needs ahead of the Savior role and reach out to him.
The other was at the end when instead of saying, “Peace out Regina. You go ahead and look at your fake boyfriend. But I’m going to go back to our kid. I guess I’ll see you if you find a way back home.” Now I know the argument will be, “But Regina came to find her and so she probably felt some loyalty to get her back too. They don’t leave each other behind.” Regina came to get her because back at the end of season 5 she released her psycho half into the world and now everyone, including Emma, is paying the price. Since she’s one half of a whole psycho she was the one that could get to Emma. Yippee. Glad she once again went to go clean up her own mess. But as per usual she made another one and instead of thinking about her son Emma decided to put Regina first. It was a bad parenting move and I was disappointed in it.
There has been a complete lack of introspective scenes in this season which is weird because during the amp up to season 6 the word that they all kept saying was, “It’s all very internal.” I’ve seen ZERO focus on the internal. No one has learned a damn thing and every episode it seems they take another step back
