CABLE #150 REVIEW **NON SPOILER**

Cover Artists: Jon Malin & Federico Blee

NCBD: 10/18/17
Review by: Ryan Douglas

The series returns with its original numbering, new creative team, and a ton of characters this book has been needing since it came back. Honestly, it’s probably best they waited to launch it’s new numbering until Ed Brisson came on board. This issue brings life back to the series and has me enjoying the Cable comic finally since the recent relaunch.

With a classic who-done-it tale, Ed Brisson is throwing a fun noir story with a twist of oddball mutants coming together to solve the mystery. The issue starts with the first clue and wraps that up by the end, leading to the next step in the team’s detective work. Each character’s introduction is well played. Once they all come together to enter the Hellfire Club, the chemistry and teamwork are pronounced, feeling like a classic reunion.

The arc currently takes place 13 years in the past and you get the sense it truly does. Jon Malin’s art takes to back to the time of line heavy work of that era, along with doing an astounding job at portraying facial expressions and movements of the characters. Everything from the backgrounds and placement of raindrops.

Ed Brisson has done a great job since joining Marvel as a writer, showing he can deliver a well-produced story to keep the reader enticed to return. The team is slowing coming together and getting back to the type of Cable book I’ve been asking for.

Score: 8/10
