Report: WWE Divas Championship to be replaced, Division renamed
[March 30th, 2016]

Perhaps in the name of progress, the WWE is finally doing what so many, from the fans to former champion Paige have hoped for: replacing the WWE Divas Championship and renaming the Division the WWE Women’s Division. And, not just soon… within the next week!

According to multiple sources, the word “Divas” is going to be scrapped from WWE programming and will apparently only be limited to Total Divas, effective on April 4th (the night after WrestleMania 32). Whoever wins the triple threat Divas Championship match on Sunday will be the last Diva to hold the title, between Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks, or the current WWE Divas Champion Charlotte. The first WWE Divas Champion was Michelle McCool, who defeated Natalya to become the inaugural champion in 2008.

Reportedly, the new WWE Women’s Championship belt is going to be similar to the WWE World Heavyweight Championship belt, only smaller and with a white strap.

In related news, it appears that Monday night will be former WWE Divas Champion Brie Bella’s last night with the WWE, as she plans to retire from pro wrestling. But, she will continue to appear on Total Divas.
