A/N: I am seriously in love with this movie and can’t wait for the next one. (Although I would like to see some Marauders Era movies or books, Credence and Queenie are my two favorite characters)
A break. That’s what this trip was. A break from all of the tension in England. With Grindelwald wandering around with his followers, it was no longer the safe and warm place you were used to. Your older brother offered for you to come visit him in America where he was studying the creatures there. Apparently he had met a few american wizards that you would stay with. Tina and Queenie you remembered him stating their names. They were supposed to meet you when the boat docked in New York because you brother was meeting with America’s version of The Ministry.
The boat horn sounded, as a radio clicked to life to announce the ships arrival. You were to dock in ten minutes, and the captain urged people to grab their belongings and prepare to get off.
The wind that whipped around made you grateful of the heavy wool coat you wore. Long stockings kept your legs warm where you brown boots didn’t cover. A felt hat obscure part of your peripheral vision, but you were glad it did as a man threw up over the edge next to you.
Taking a step back, you looked to the port as it came into view. A smile crept up your face as you moved to go in and grab your luggage. You had to make it muggle worthy before the bag checkers could get their hands on it.
The inside of the ship was much warmer than the outside, the coal powering the boat warming it like a cauldron over a fire. You sighed, resisting the urge to take off your jacket with the knowledge that you would just have to remove it again after you got off the ship.
The luggage area was locked with two guards in front of it, to which you had to show your luggage card and have one get it for you. You waited outside the room as other people came to get their luggage. They all waited patiently, and the guard soon returned with your bag, a medium sized bag with a hat box perched atop it.
You thanked him, moving out of the way of the other people and out to where you would get off the boat. It had docked into the port while you were getting your bag, and you didn’t have to wait to get off. The plank rattled as you went down, and you briefly wondered if it was actually safe. Before you could stop to think about it though, you were off of the ramp and looking for Tina and Queenie.
You spotted a dark haired woman with a blonde next to her, one of which was holding a sign with your name, and smiled. The looked exactly how newt described them, and you were happy to know you were closer to seeing your brother than you had been in three years. It had been that long since you had last seen him, and you were missing your sibling. You no longer considered Theseus your close family after you found out he was engaged to Leta. She really wasn’t your type of person, and you honestly always disliked her. Theseus became more bitter once he started dating her and it only made you hate her more.
Newt had been a bit of a push over, his softness being one of the reasons he was sorted into Hufflepuff, but he never failed to protect you if a Slytherin, or a person in any other house for that matter, tried to push you around or bully you. He was probably he best sibling anyone could ask for, and you were extremely upset when he was expelled. You would never forgive Leta for letting him get expelled when it was her fault. After that, every time she passed you in the halls, you would giver her the stink eye. Theseus always took her side though, unlike Newt used to.
As you approached the two, the blonde pointed at your advancing form and you quickly remembered Newt’s warning that she could read minds. trying to clear your head, you walked to the two, gripping you suitcase tighter.
“Are you Porpentina and Queenie Goldstein?” They nodded, a smiled coming on to Queenie’s face.
“That we are! You must be (Y/N). Newt will be back at the apartment soon, and I’m sure you would like to see him after three long years.” She said, and you nodded, a similar grin forming on your face. Tina chimed in, placing the sign under her arm.
“Well then, we best be off. You will have to show your suitcase at the guard, do you have a no-maj proof case?” You nodded, remembering that was the term they used for muggles. Flicking the switch with your finger to make it muggle proof, you moved past the two women and to the guard.
“Open your bag please.” He stated, looking at the two women behind you. You laid it down on the table and unzipped it, revealing a simple case with just clothes and shoes. The guard opened the hat box to find another hat inside, and nodded. “You can pass.”
Closing the cases you moved past and further away from the dock. Queenie and Tina lead the way to their apartment, and you became giddy at the thought of seeing your brother again. You barely remembered him, the only thing able to be recalled was the curly head of hair that sat atop his head as well as the many freckles that littered his face.
You sat at their dining room table for no more than ten minutes once you got there before the door opened once more. A familiar blue coat came into view, your brother stepping fully into the living space and closing the door behind him. His hair was as floppy as you remembered, and his hufflepuff scarf hung from his neck, even though he had never gotten to finish school in that house.
His eyes landed on you sitting there, and before he could open his mouth, you had ran at him and jumped to give him a hug. His arms wrapped around your waist, returning the hug. He smelled like ash, and you wondered for a moment what had happened while he was out.
“It’s so good to see you again. Hogwarts was boring without you.” Newt pulled back, looking at you.
“Life was boring without you, (Y/N).” You smiled at his words, feeling a weight pulled from your shoulders as it sunk in that your favorite person in the world was in front of you again. You remembered Leta and Theseus’ engagement, and everything that had happened wince Newt left.
“We have a lot to catch up on. You will not believe what happened while you were gone.” You said, a sound of confidence in your voice. Newt chuckled, tilting his head from side to side as he spoke.
“I think I have you beat in the unbelievable event category.” you hesitated, looking at his face. The smugness made you smile in a nostalgic way, remembering the playful banter you would share when in school.
“The ghost of Godric Gryffindor.”
“Monsters loose in New York and an Obscurus.”
