new american gospel

So Variety posted this irresponsible, ignorant, lying peace of trash yesterday claiming that Elvis invented Rock-n-Roll. Everyone with even a small amount of music history knowledge knows that Rock-n-Roll was invented by BLACK PEOPLE. In particular Chuck Berry and Little Richard.

Of course BlackTwitter wasn’t having it and created the hashtag #VarietyHeadlines. Here are my favorites:

So on the bad side, even in 2014 with the Internet as this near endless source of information, Black people still do not get the credit they deserve and white people continue to perpetuate lies and half truths that steal credit from our geniuses while stealing from our geniuses. The “battle” for the title of the true inventor of Rock-n-Roll will continue despite the mountain of evidence that Chuck Berry and Little Richard are actually its inventors (let’s not sleep on Fats Domino either) because in a white supremacist culture, white people will sooner die then just give us what is ours. Doing so diminishes them and they just can’t handle that.

On the bright side however, #VarietyHeadlines was and is an all time BlackTwitter classic. A lot of fun and truly hilarious.
