The kitchen countertops matched Christmases where Y/n was from, white. How they’d managed to make such a mess still mystified Y/n. Gen had suggested baking Christmas cookies as a good idea for Y/n and the boys to do together, but Y/n doubted she would have suggested it if she knew how it was going to end.
“Your Mom is going to kill me,” Y/n hissed as she desperately tried to scope up some of the flour coating the workspace. The boys continued to laugh, not nearly as concerned as their sister was. “I’m glad you’re enjoying this. She’s not gonna leave us alone again if this is what happens! I’m pretty sure there is more flour on this countertop then there is in the actual cookies.”
“Can we put the icing on them now?” Tom asked for what felt like the tenth million time.
“No buddy, we have to wait till they cool remember? Otherwise it’ll melt and just make a mess. When the timer goes off then we can decorate the cookies.”
“I want to decorate a Christmas tree one first, I’m gonna make it green,” Shep said, clapping his hands together and setting a cloud of white dust into the air.
“I wanna make the Santa one!” Y/n nodded at Tom’s request, just as the timer went off.
“Alright boys, looks like it’s decorating time.” She grabbed a Santa cookie and a tree cookie off the rack, placing them in front of the boys. “Go crazy!”
“Go crazy?” Gen chuckled as she entered the room. “That never ends well.”
Y/n threw her hands up, “Well, I figured they can’t make much more of a mess then they already have. I promise to clean this all up when they’re done.”
“Don’t worry about it. This is the usual. They love to help in the kitchen, but they haven’t really mastered the cleaning up after themselves yet. I’ll start, you guys enjoy making your cookies,” she said as she looked over Tom’s shoulder. “Looking good guys!”
