“The Rarest", a Nene Goose. Nene geese numbered only 30 individuals in the 1950s. Through careful breeding programs, they were brought back
from the brink of extinction, and today number around 800 in the wild
after they were re-introduced to their native homes in Hawai’i, Maui,
and Kaua’i. I fell in love with the Nene after meeting a few and
