needed to make something to make me feel better

* 。♦ ⋅ ⋆ — hey, it me your friendly and  frustrated  admin !! i’m just here to address a few things and we can continue on having fun on the dash !! first things first, if you have any concerns over bubble rping, being ignored, having replies dropped…ect., sending the main anons about it is the last way to go about fixing things. people need to stop using this feature to hide their identities, because while it may make you feel better, it really makes me feel like shit ?? i want to be able to help this group flourish and i can’t do it all on my own. i need your help. so if you see something fishy going on on the dash, you tell me about it–please !! i won’t bite, i won’t get upset !! part of being an admin is being subjective and open to change to help the group keep going strong. the only thing sending anons accomplish is making me feel anxious as fuck, wondering who isn’t having fun and how i can make it better for them. i can’t help a gray face, however much i try.

please be replying to every starter in the tag. this group is a community. you should be ready, willing, and excited to rp with everyone !! keep in mind that a majority of our members play multiple muses; i do not expect members to reply to the same starter repeatedly with a different muse. that gets repetitive and is a sure fire way to lose muse real quick. i don’t expect that out of any our members, but i do expect you to interact with everyone in some, shape or form.

it’s easy as fuck to miss replies; please don’t be afraid to drop fellow members an im if you feel like they’ve dropped/missed your reply !! chances are, they didn’t mean to !! it was an honest mistake !!

that’s all i have for you loves today, please keep being kind to one another, and have a lovely day !! happy rping fam, expect an announcement regarding our next event to pop up on the dash within the next couple of days !! please like this post so i know you’re aware of what was discussed and i can hold you accountable to my expectations.

xxphillyanaxx  asked:

What do you do when your sad?

I take a moment to rethink about why I am sad, then I decide if being sad is really what I want to do for the rest of the day or week, then I do something that always makes me smile (which happens to be reading comments on my videos from the buds or answering asks on tumblr) then I realize that being sad is not going to make things better, no one can really help you with how you feel, unless you need closure.

Self Care

It’s Mental Health Month. May 1st. The beginning of it. I just want to post some tips on what I find useful when I feel anxious, depressed or lonely. Some tips on how to care for yourself mixed in here too. I know what it’s like to feel like nothing is going to work out and you feel like there is no point anymore. I still get sad from time to time but here is what I try to do to lower those horrible feelings.

  1. Music
When I feel down I put on my chill playlist and listen to the songs. Not just recognize that the song is playing. I listen to every word, every beat, every instrument that makes a sound. I listen so hard that I forget everything else around me and forget everything that is going on in my head for a while. This actually really helps and especially if it’s a slow song, something that matches my mood.
  2. Reading
Reading is one of my favourite things to do. I’m in love with words. And getting deep into one of my favourite books helps me forget for a while. Grab something to drink and maybe a snack, find a quiet and comfy place to relax and let yourself fall into a book.
  3. Eat
When I feel depressed my appetite can go away pretty quickly. But if you don’t eat, you’ll feel even more tired and low. And that’s not good. So eat. Not junk food. Maybe a treat every now and again but make sure to eat healthy too. Fruit or vegetables. Maybe make some type of sandwhich or maybe eat a bowl of porridge. Whatever you want to make. But remember, not always junk food. And drink lot’s and lot’s of water.
  4. Shower or bath
If you feel all ugh, and ew take a long warm shower or a bath full of bubbles. Taking a shower or bath might help you feel more relaxed and feel more taken care of. And keeping yourself fresh and clean will help help boost your system.
  5. Fresh air
When I’m down, I get lazy. So the whole ‘take a long walk’ thing doesn’t go with me. What I like to do instead is open a window and stand there or take a chair and sit near there. I’m getting fresh air into my lungs which is good and I don’t need to get up and go outside to do it. Now getting exercise is a good thing to do too because it’ll boost your system also. But when you really can’t get up and walk far, just go to a window and read or listen to music.
  6. Cry
Yes crying is on this list. When you really need to let those tears out, just do it. If you’re in a place you feel comfortable enough to do it. Let it all out, for however long you need to. Crying doesn’t make you weak or a loser or whatever you think it makes you. It helps you. Instead of holding all those feelings in, you can let them out by crying. So just do it because a cry every now and again, will make you feel a little better. Hopefully.
  7. Decorate and change it up
This may be an odd one but it helps me. When I’m sad I’ll look up some quotes that I really like, write them on some paper and decorate the paper and stick it on my wall. Or sometimes I sift things around. If I think something in my room would look better in a different position then I’ll move it. I’ll maybe take some things down and hang something new up instead. Tidy my room too if it needs it. This helps because I’m focusing on other things. Where will this go? Does this look good on this wall? Things like that. Try it and see.
  8.  Breathe
When I feel like I can’t breathe, I remember that I just need to take a minute. Look at my surroundings. What’s the colour of the walls? Breathe. What’s in the room? Breathe. What’s the weather like outside? Breathe. What’s my favourite food? Breathe. Do I have any plans this week? Breathe. Ask yourself some questions. Answer them and breathe. Breathe, breathe and breathe. Don’t let you make yourself small. Think bigger than what that stupid annoying voice in your head is telling you. Breathe. Because you’re worth it.

I hope these tips helped. I really do. And please, please REMEMBER… you are beautiful. You are so amazing and this world needs you in it. Maybe you feel like no one cares. But I guarantee you there is somebody out there who thinks the world of you. You are somebody’s moon. You’re that person who lights up the darkness for them. Don’t let your light go out. Stay strong and remember to love yourself and take care of yourself. You guys are more than welcome to ask me something if you need any advice or have any questions. The door is open and you are welcome.

The “Just the thought of Team Cap walking all over Tony makes me want to trash my room, I just want unashamed, biased, pro-Tony quality content, is that too much to ask??” inspired ficlet I’ve been holding back for a while:

Bitterness ahead, guys. Not Team Cap friendly. Nor is it particularly deep or rational. I just wanted to get a couple of thoughts out of my head. Basically Tony is done being the team’s sugar daddy, only it comes to light in a very roundabout way.

“When are my arrows gonna be fixed anyways?” Clint grumbles, rubs a hand over his sore shoulder. The one that wouldn’t have gotten injured, had his shot hit the target it was supposed to. Which it should have, his aim had been fine. The problem were the arrows. Someone must have screwed up somewhere in the production because they weren’t perfectly balanced.

They’re sitting in the conference room at the (mostly) restored compound. Tony is tapping away on his StarkPad, not even bothering to look up. He must have felt the questioning glances and noticed the silence, but he still doesn’t react.

Steve resists the urge to roll his eyes. He doesn’t want to encourage the tension between them, things are bad enough as it is. If only Tony would put in some effort as well, instead of going out of his way to antagonise them, maybe they could make some actual progress.

“Yo, Stark!” Clint snaps, voice reaching that biting sharpness he reserves specially for the billionaire. “I’m talking to you!”

Tony shows no outward reaction, which is strange to see. Back when they first came back, he used to move at all times, sharp and erratic, never staying still. Steve shakes his head at their unnecessary power play.

Tony answers before he has the chance to reprimand them though. “How would I know?” he asks, a brief frown flittering across his face as he scribbles something down onto the tablet.

The outraged look on Clint’s face tells everyone present that this meeting won’t get back on track any time soon. It’s understandable, really. Clint has been forced to fight three battles with faulty equipment and frankly, the lack of concern Tony is showing for his team mates’ safety is nothing short of callous. Steve knows things haven’t been good between them but this is the first time he wonders if things could really be so bad, that Tony would hold necessary equipment back on purpose.

It’s a terrible thought, but try as he might, Steve isn’t able to shake it off.

At least the rising tension finally causes Tony to look up and meet Clint’s glare. He’s wearing sunglasses even though they’re inside, like he always does. Steve doesn’t like it. Makes it harder to read Tony, to tell what he’s really thinking. Absently, he admits that this is probably why Tony wears them so religiously.

“What do you mean ‘how would you know’?!” Clint snarls, enraged. “My arrows have been acting up for weeks and you still don’t know how to fix it?!”

Tony stares at Clint, the expression on his face unreadable. Then, after a long, long moment of heavy silence, the answer.

“I’m not fixing your equipment.”

For a moment, it’s deadly quiet, as Steve struggles to process the meaning of what Tony has just said.

“Tony,” Steve hastily inserts himself as soon as he finds his voice again, before Clint can throw himself across the room and deck him, “I know there are still some issues we all have to work through, but that’s not an excuse to-”

“Hold it right there, Rogers,” Tony interrupts. It’s never Cap, always Rogers these days. The pain the distinction causes still catches Steve by surprise more often than not. “I’m not sure where you get this from but I’m not your mechanic. I don’t work for you. So if Barton here has an issue with his weapons, he needs to take it up with the people in charge. Considering how often you remind me that it’s not me, you’d think you’d have figured that part out already.”

“But it’s not working!”

Tony sighs. The deep, heavy sort of sigh you usually expect from an exhausted parent after their insistent child asks, “Are we there yet?” for the 34th time. “Then take it up with the quartermaster. Or Agent Hudson. Or one of the techies. Seriously, Barton, you signed the Revision. Who’s responsible for what is right in there, section 12 to 17. Besides-” he pauses.

“What are you waiting for? Go on!” Clint demands between gritted teeth, hands curled into tight fists. Thankfully, he’s not throwing anything. Yet. “Don’t get shy with me now!”

Tony straightens in his seat. Steve inwardly sighs. That man has never been able to let a challenge go unanswered.

Besides,” Tony continues, voice still surprisingly even, “chances are they’re working just fine.”

“You think I can’t tell when my bow isn’t fucking working the way it should?” Clint bristles.

The words actually cause Tony to lower his sunglasses for a moment, just to make sure there is no doubt about how stupid he believes Clint to be. “I’m saying you’re operating with a standard bow, Barton. The fabric and the construction limit the performance quality. Something I’m sure an experienced archer like yourself has picked up on.”

And yes, things are definitely getting ugly. That level of glacial cold in Tony’s voice is rarely achieved, even now.

“The why the fuck did you build a subpar bow?”

Tony sighs again. “You’re missing the point. Seriously, I can not believe we’re even having this conversation. I did not build that bow, Barton.”

And that’s–that’s a surprise.

Tony’s gaze trails over them all, taking in their confused, shocked expressions. “Really?” he asks, exasperation dripping from every syllable. “Did any of you even read the Revision? The Avengers’ are an official unit. Their weapons and uniforms can’t be provided by a private party, especially not one who is part of the team. Have you ever heard the term conflict of interest?”

“What about Stark Industries?” Natasha asks. From the furrow in her brows though, Steve suspects she already knows the answer–and doesn’t like it one bit.

“I’m not sure if you noticed,” and now there’s no mistaking the mocking in Tony’s tone, “but SI doesn’t sell weapons anymore. It was kind of a big thing, couple of years back.”

“But- But yours are better!” Clint splutters. It sounds plaintive and weak, even in Steve’s ears, but at the same time he knows what Clint’s struggling to say. It’s not about getting your toys taken away. It’s about their safety and efficiency in the field. On bad days, it’s about the survival of their entire planet.

“I can’t believe you would risk the teams’ lives and safety like this because of a petty argument,” Steve says, unable to keep quiet any longer, nor bothering to hide the honest disappointment.

Tony, unimpressed as always, simply snorts. “You’re an official unit, but before that you’ve been working for SHIELD for years. Did you ever have the very best equipment mankind was capable of providing at the time? No,” he answers his own question in a breeze, “you didn’t. Why? Because you’re agents, soldiers. And sure, the government wants to protect us, wants to keep us alive and make sure our missions succeed. But they have limited funding, which means everyone has to deal with the best cost-efficient option available. If you’ve got the right connections to get something more, then lucky you, but that makes you an exception, not a rule.”

“You don’t need to explain real life to me!” Clint snaps aggravated.

“Then why do you feel entitled to something better?” That question, sharp and cutting, makes the archer still, his mouth open but with no retort forthcoming. Tony is blinking at him now, head tilted sideways in child-like curiosity.

“Of course, if I, as a private citizen, decided to build something that doesn’t violate any laws and give it to a friend as a gift, that would be something else, wouldn’t it?” Tony continues after a moment, voice softer now, but no less cutting. His eyes are fixated on Clint, sunglasses pushed back, eyes dark and unmoved. “The average update would take me what, a week or two? That’s a lot of time to invest into a single project, especially when the ultimate use is so limited. How many people can possibly profit from improved protective vest versus how many people improve from an exploding arrow is a really fascinating comparison to make.”

“So you see, Barton, even if I could improve your bow, there’s no logical reason why I should waste my time like this.”

“Tony!” Steve interrupts, scandalised. “Clint’s life depend on his aim! Our lives depend on it! How can you justify not providing him with the most basic necessities.”

Tony doesn’t even try and look abashed, instead he throws his head back and laughs. “This is how you want to play it, Rogers? Because I’m rich and a genius, I owe it to you to devote my time, attention and money to bettering your lives? What about the seven billion other people on this world? Don’t they deserve the same consideration, hm? What makes you so special that I should put your needs before anything else?”

Steve opens his mouth, but Tony doesn’t give him a chance to speak.

“I tell you what this is: this is you realising I’m no longer spoiling you rotten because you are in fact not my kids and I can cut you off whenever the fuck I want. And you don’t like it. Because guess what, I may be privileged, but so are you! You’re heroes, most of the time, as far as the world is concerned. You’ve been living off my money and resources on top of that. You’ve always gotten special treatment and you like that. You’re as far detached from the ‘ordinary man on the street’ as I am, you just don’t have the self-awareness to fucking notice!”

Tony sends them a sardonic smile that does in no way take the sting out of his words. “Don’t worry,” he says, “you’ll still be special. It’s just no longer my name footing that bill. Because we’re not friends. And as a business man, I’m not at all sorry to tell you that you simply aren’t worth investing into.”

And with that he stands, all blinding press smile, sweeps around dramatically, and strides purposefully out of the room. The automatic door closes noiselessly behind him, but he might have as well slammed it shut for all the difference it would’ve made.

It’s likely not a coincidence, that on their next mission Spiderman, Vision and Miss Marvel all showcase new, incredibly features and weapons that can’t have been created by anyone else. And it’s impossible to know for sure, what with the mask on, but Steve is one hundred per cent certain that Spiderman is smirking at them.

He is not wrong.

Let me know what you think? And please excuse any mistakes, I’ll re-read this tomorrow. Also this is the last post for today. I’m tiredtiredtired now and think I’ve spread enough bitterness for the day. And spammed your dashes with enough endless posts probably…oops.

Why we enjoy Sarah J Maas’s books:

Alright! So I finally got through all of the survey responses. I got over 300! However, I did have to throw out over 50 as many people decided to check more than 5 for likes or dislikes. And I don’t think google forms lets you limit the number they can check? Anyways, it’s fine because I still have 254 usable responses and tons of lovely quotes/thoughts/rants from all of you!!

I’ll put the data charts up top and then the long answer responses below, divided into sections.

So clearly, we are overwhelmingly here for the female characters, the character growth, and the romance. But we also like the morally grey characters, the world building, and the representation of PTSD, abuse, and mental health issues.

I’m sorry that is so tiny, but basically, we overwhelmingly dislike the lack of diversity in terms of PoC and LGBTQ character and we also have some issues with world building, magic, and seeing our favs do problematic things.

Also 18 of your hate Celaena lol (I love her and I know that putting that answer in there as a selection was petty af but I cannot help myself. It was all for a good laugh)

Alright, so most of us feel negatively and positively about the fandom. But a solid chunk, 34%, feels positively most-all of the time. Which is great. We are doin okay friends. Only 5.5%, 14 people, felt like the fandom affected them only negatively.

So we clearly are here for enjoyment and escapism. And pain.

Also, I apologize for the wet dreams one but THIS FANDOM LOVES SMUT I HAD TO PUT IT ON THERE OKAY

So 70% of the ppl reading to enjoy things and find it easy to ignore the things we dislike.

And the long answers:

Enjoyment:

Some of us really enjoy the way she writes characters—she really makes us really care with backstory and character development:

“When I finally decide to shut the book, it takes me a minute to forget that the characters aren’t real. I’ve fallen in love with almost every single one of her characters because they’re so authentic; they go through hardships, they love, they fall out of love, they get angry, they grieve deeply, but most importantly, they GROW. I’m so impressed with who Feyre and Aelin have come to be as women over the years. The familial love that bonds the characters together is also something that I really connect to. They really would do ANYTHING to protect each other.” anonymous

“She delivers types of characters and points of view that other YA writers haven’t done. She pulls of tropes without making them boring. She isn’t afraid of calling characters out for doing the wrong thing.”- @the-heir-of-terrasen

“I think SJM’s character development is her biggest strength. I haven’t connected to so many characters in a series since Harry Potter. She is good at showing rather than telling when it comes to several moments of key character building, especially for . That I am so emotionally invested in such a wide variety of characters across two series is a testament to her gift.” -anonymous

“Her use of description and narrative really is eye-opening to the world of the characters in the most subtle of ways. She knows how to wield a character’s experiences and history to cleave new paths in their personalities, and thus makes ever-changing, ever-growing characters that are so much more relatable than most other fantasy books. Not to mention that her villains are just as mysterious and wicked as her protagonists, making even the antagonists realistic to the point of you *screaming* at the book for whatever the character has done this time.“ - @cynical-minds-for-cynical-times

“The Connection to the characters. I don’t relate so much as I do just care very, very deeply about them. I LIKE them, even if they aren’t likable people?” @squaddreamcourt

We also really enjoy how morally complex the characters are:

“What I love about SJM is that she doesn’t make things prettier than they are. She has not created a perfect world, with those perfect good characters finding a perfect happy ending. Instead she created a world that has loads of problems we’re also facing in our world and she shows us how layered and well thought out characters are dealing with them. Her characters grow and the emotional impact of their deeds is not shrugged off. I love it how everything they do has consequences and how the heroes make mistakes and bad decisions and how the villains do good things sometimes. What I love is that it’s a fascinating world with fascinating characters that gives me an unique view on our world.” @acourtofhopeanddreams

“The characters are very well-rounded and dynamic. Almost every character has a motivation for what and why they’re doing what they’re doing, which is something some villains lack in other stories. You find yourself hating the characters, but still enjoying the parts that they’re in because they are so realistic in their mannerisms and motivations.” anonymous

Her books help us deal with personal issues, and we also seem to enjoy how relatable or realistic the personal relationships between the characters are:

“I feel like her books help me a lot, for one thing because they make me feel excited and enthusiastic about something which I think everyone needs more of in their life. I also love the platonic and romantic relationships between the characters because they educate me about abusive relationships, healthy relationships, and the complications of friendships etc. I love this because I feel like it helps me understand myself and the people around me better emotionally, and puts my own personal experiences with other people in perspective. I also find a lot of the things that go down between the characters help me feel more secure about my personal life, and they help me accept myself for feeling the way I do about certain things. Also, I love just love reading them because I find them really fun and enjoyable.“ - @ashryverblue

“I enjoyed the way she wove my favorite fairy tales together and wrote compelling romance. I also connected to the characters and appreciated how she prioritized female pleasure in sex.“ - @sarahviehmann

“The representation of mentally ill and abused characters and their arcs that deals with their past and their issues that isnt “love fixes everything” -anonymous

“also like how they don’t have the common ‘no body likes me because I’m ugly I’m so sad boo ho’ because I never really related to those characters. I want to read about someone who is confident in their body and with their skills, and not someone who is whiny and needs someone to hold their hand through everything.” @a-book-love

“Feyre’s struggle with abuse and PTSD in ACOMAF was relatable and her growth is inspiring. I love her relationship with Rhys and the understanding and respect they have for one another. I love Rhys and his Inner Circle - they’re funny, kind, intelligent, strong, witty etc. I like that Rhys, Mor, Az, and Cassian are abuse survivors - it gives me hope. I love how supportive they are of one another. Of course, I love the magic and world-building in the series but the characters and their relationships are what stand out to me the most in this series.” @pencilsfulloflead

And some of us are here for the drama (myself included):

“Honestly these are the most dramatic books I’ve read, which I love. My favorite thing about fanfiction is how character focused they are, all the big sweeping emotional gestures, all the angst and drama. Give me all that shit. SJM’s books give me that but with original characters/a new world/etc. which allows me new content with those same tropey, dramatic things that I love, with good writing. “ anonymous

“GOD I WISH I KNEW, I HAVE ALWAYS CONSIDERED MYSELF BEING HELD IN THIS FANDOM AGAINST MY WILL AND BETTER JUDGEMENT. I guess I’d say the characters– while I wouldn’t call them “relatable” necessarily– are engaging, and the light fantasy trappings, digestible (though not refined) prose, fast pace, exciting-if-not-necessarily-logically-sound plot twists, and heightened drama create an exciting tableau/ fertile ground for indulgent romance narratives/ heavy interpersonal dramas, which SJM does well. There’s also lots of side characters/ unexplored plot or world-related threads prime for creative exploration that make the world fun to explore as a fic writer.“ @valamerys

“The books have an element of wonder to them; my jaw was wide open during the scene in HOF when all the witches drummed for Abraxos and during the Weaver scene in ACOMAF. Aelin never fails to make me laugh, and on the flip side, her story in HOF is my absolute favorite.” @screaming-at-billiards

And finally, this little snippet that I thought explained why most of us read for the female characters:

“that the women don’t need men to be powerful”

Dislike:

So we clearly have some issues with the diversity…

“Two black girls died for white pain (Dorian/Sorscha and Aelin/Nehemia) in back to back books.”

“I would like to see more POC and LGBT characters because I feel like with the powerful messages and arcs these characters go through it would be beneficial not only to the storyline (with experiences like racism and LGBT discrimination to add to their issues and how they deal with them) but to how people read the book.”

“She messed up big time with ACOWAR and how poorly she treated Mor’s trauma.”- anonymous

“I can’t think of a general thing I dislike about Sarah’s books. I know lack of/poorly handled diversity is an issue but as a straight white female I tend to let others speak on this as I don’t feel like it’s my place to say whether or not POC/LGBTQ+ characters are represented well/enough. Other than that there are plot points, conversations, small things, etc. that I wish had gone differently but that’s my nitpicking and personal preference.” anonymous
“Primarily it’s the lack of representation and understanding of diversity, but recently with acowar I felt she became too busy and it was a bit rushed and unfinished.” @fcyrearcherxn

“Eh I wish it [descriptions of skin color] was clearer so ppl would stop drawing illiryans white” @acourtoffeyreandaelin

And some of us have issues with world building…

“Sjm seems to think about a lot of things while writing, but she doesn’t think them all the way through. For example, the magic system, the references to mythological characters/creatures from multiple cultures and smashed together, etc. I get the sense that even if she has to outline for her publisher, there is still so much that just isn’t thought about with enough attention to detail.“ @abookandacoffee

How dislike affects our reading:

Some of us are not affected by the things we dislike:

“Not at all really, if anything it just fuels fanfiction.” anonymous

“Literally not at all. Even if there are things I dislike, I still love the characters and their stories.” anonymous

“they mildly irritate me until i get over it about 4 minutes later” anonymous

“not much tbh, I just skipped that shit lol” @squaddreamcourt

Some of us were disappointed by acowar and the world building issues it raised affected our enjoyment:

“It makes me cringe when I read it, and honestly all the issues in ACOWAR made it harder for me to get into. Some illogical (even with magic in place) things in the end battle made it impossible for me to focus on the end of the book, cause I still couldn’t get over how little sense what had just happened made. Which was the opposite of ACOMAF, I couldn’t get enough of that book.” - @nightinsurgent

Some of us are negatively affected by the way SJM has handled certain issues:

It [ Mor’s trauma in acowar] honestly ruined the entire book for me and I try to pretend like the third book isn’t even canon.” -anonymous

“Sometimes it can put a downer as I’m a POC I can sometime realise I can’t fully relate to all characters but usually i brush it off as I realise that all books have faults.”-anonymous

And some of us feel guilty for enjoying these books despite the issues:

“I have at times (particularly after major online discussions) felt guilty for taking pleasure from something that hurt another person’s feelings.“- anonymous

How the fandom affects our enjoyment:

Some of us love the fandom and how it leads to deeper understandings of the story:

“I LOVE fandom. It makes me feel like I’m part of something and that I have people who are there for me. It also gives me new ways of obsessing about the series, and I love seeing other people’s interpretations and feelings about the books, especially when they point out things that I haven’t noticed before. It just gives me a deeper, richer reading experience and it’s like I’m always partly in the world of the books, because I’m always thinking about them and in that sense they never really leave me and are always a part of me.“ @ashryverblue

“WE RIDE AND DIE TOGETHER SO NOTHING IS TOO PAINFUL WHEN YOU HAVE EACH OTHER” -anonymous

For some of us, fandom really affects how we enjoy the books and how we think about certain aspects and characters:

“I’ve always been a critical reader but I wonder if I didn’t have a medium to see, read, and interact with my criticisms that I would let them go easier.”- anonymous

“I can mostly ignore it but sometimes it makes me feel shame for liking the books as much as I do. I also can get past it because I think some people are way to harsh and expect perfect characters which is not what I’m here for. Also, even if improvement in terms of representation is slow at least sjm has made some changes which is something most authors would never do.”-anonymous

“I get to see both sides of all the arguments and my own opinions are sometimes changed based on an argument someone might present considering any topic, which expands my horizons and makes it more enjoyable for me.” @angrydinosauryouth

“I don’t think I would care about Suriel’s death so much if it wasn’t for this fandom who made him a drama loving queen. Things like that” @jmaas-books-lover

We are disappointed with the fandom recently:

“At first I loved how we were all interacting, but the fandom has grown so negative and condemning of any differing opinions. I don’t mean people being called out others for saying abusive characters are not abusive, but people seem to go to war over inconsequential opinions that don’t harm anyone.” @nightinsurgent

“The ACOTAR fandom in particular used to be really lovely and amazing, and there are still groups with whom that is still true. Everyone let people think about and enjoy what they wanted as long as we weren’t perpetuating or justifying abuse, and it was a very supportive environment. It’s less so, now, and people are defending the text just to defend it, which is frustrating to me both as a fic writer AND a reader.” @sarahviehmann

“What gets at me is the clouds of negativity… And it seems really  hard to avoid sometimes, especially in such a small fandom. And when a few vocal members, who otherwise make good stuff, get very negative it gets worse…”

Some of us love the books despite what the fandom has to say:

“The fandom itself doesn’t affect my love of the books, I make my own opinions about them. But the fandom is severely affecting my enjoyment of being a part of the fandom.” @miladyaelin

Some of us enjoy parts of the fandom, but have serious issues with how the fandom reacts negatively to certain aspects of the books:

“Parts of the fandom really make me happy and allow me to discuss my thoughts and feelings about the books. There’s an amazing community of people. But there is a huge part of the fandom which really, really negatively affects my experience through heavy, harsh, and often unnecessary criticism. That’s not to say that we shouldn’t be critical and shouldn’t discuss the issues in her books, but there’s almost a frenzy about it now to the point where those of us who enjoy her books are made to feel bad about it. Yes, she has problems. But there has been significant improvements that no one seems to want to acknowledge. The second something new is released it’s torn into shreds and if you have a different opinion then you’re wrong. (For example, how Morrigan’s coming out was handled. Everyone has been saying how bad it was and how Sarah really messed it up, but I’m bisexual and I now really relate to Mor and the way she came out and her reasoning for not doing so before was incredibly real and believable to me. It seems that a lot of the people (though obviously not all) who criticise the lack of diversity in SJM’s books aren’t actually diverse themselves and are just on some sort of crusade to make themselves look like better people.) Why can’t some of us just enjoy a book for what it’s worth?” anonymous

How can I get myself in the best mindset?

This is a great question, and I’m going to answer it like in a personal sense cause I dont know what is good for everybody but,

- Clean!! I know I always feel so much better when I clean my room or my space or wherever I am in that time, it helps reduce anxiety and I get the like anxious procrastination of just letting the mess build up but trust me if you put on some music and force yourself you’ll feel a ton better

- Take a shower, I feel like it helps you process things and be numb for a little while while you just stand there and think, which we all need sometimes. Afterwards put on lotion and brush your teeth, anything you need to feel clean.

- Put together a playlist. Make one of your favorite songs, things that help you focus or make you happy (( or *cough* *cough* go check out our spotify for some cool tunes lovelysuggestions )). I personally make a new one with different songs each month, it really does give me something to look forward to.

- Turn off social media, and youtube. I feel like when im on them I’m in a fishbowl of just like unproductivity and my brain is literally rotting away as I keep clicking different things every 6 seconds. Even netflix I feel is better than that, just getting through a show or something.

- Do something productive. Do something that will stimulate your mind or challenge you. Read, MAKE SOMETHING, it’ll make you feel clean and help unjumble your head a bit, and I think the action of doing something start to finish is really rewarding.

Those are my tips, I don’t know if you guys feel the same but that’s kinda how I get to my best mindset sometimes <3

BTS reaction: taking care of their girlfriend when she’s sick

Anon requested:

Hi! I’m really sick right now and I was wondering if you could do a bts reaction to their girlfriend being sick, like them taking care of her and stuff.

Jin:

We all know how much Jin likes to take care of other people. So when you, his favorite person in the entire world, got sick he knew that he would do anything that he can so you can feel better.

He made you lay in bed for the entire day, turned on your favorite drama to watch and made you so much food that you thought you were never going to be able to eat it all.

“Jin-ah that’s too much food!”

“No it’s not! You’re sick. You need energy!”

Yoongi:

When he first sees you, so sick that you’re not able to get out of bed, he would immediately turn from the tough, swaggy Suga, into the sweet and loving Yoongi. It would be kind of hard for him at first, because he was not really used to take care of anyone. But he was ready to do anything for you. And I mean ANYTHING! If you throw up on the floor, he would clean it up without saying a word. If you sneeze all over him, by an accident he would just wipe it off his face and reassure you that it’s totally okay. He would go out shopping for different kinds of medicines, teas and foods that would make you feel better, coming home with three giant bags full of stuff. And if you have a fever he won’t be able to sleep at night, constantly checking your temperature and giving you different kinds of cold medicines.

“Love, are you sure you’re okay? Do you need anything else?”

“No, oppa, I’m fine. Seriously, it’s just a cold…”

“It’s not JUST a cold! You actually look like you’re dying! Still gorgeous though.” He laughed winking.

Jhope:

Seeing you sick would make Hobi extremely sad. He loved you so much and seeing you in pain was actually kind of painful to him too.

He would try to make you feel better by telling you to lay down and relax, making you some tea and probably even attempting to cook something. Then he would try telling you different stories and jokes in hopes of entertaining you, so you would feel better.

“Tell me if you need anything, jagi. And I mean ANYTHING! Not just food and stuff, ANYTHING! Whatever you want, if you want me to dance for you, I will. If you want me to cuddle you, I will. If you want me to go out and get you a puppy…I’ll do that too. As long as it makes you happy, I’ll do it!”

Namjoon:

Namjoon would want to help you so badly! But in his attempts to help he would just cause even more destruction. He would try to cook for you, completely destroying the kitchen in the process. He would try to buy you cold medicine, but would probably get the children’s one by an accident instead. He would try to clean up your room for you, so you wouldn’t have to do it yourself, but would probably break a few of your stuff while doing so.

He would keep trying to help, and keep causing more, and more destruction until you finally decide to tell him to stop and just come cuddle you instead.

“But I want to help you!”

“Baby, you helped enough. Just come cuddle me now, that’s going to make me feel a lot better.”

“Okay…”He sighed but then smiled.

Jimin:

Jimin would definitely panic. He would definitely think that it wasn’t just a cold but something way more serious. And he would probably decide to google the symptoms.

That was a bad idea. Two minutes later he would come back to you and say, completely serious:

“Jagi, I’m so sorry, but you might have cancer!”

“Jimin what the fuck!” You yelled.

“I googled the symptoms. Most of the results said it was an ordinary cold, but what if…it’s not!!!”

“Oh my god, Jimin! Baby, you had the exact same reaction last time when I was sick! I’m okay, I promise….”

“Okay then, [Y/N]. But don’t say that I didn’t warn you….”

You sighed and shook your head, annoyed.

Taehyung:

Tae would believe that cuddles and laughs are the best kind of medicine. He would play your favorite movie and lay down next to you, cuddling you for hours, making funny faces at you here and there, trying to make you laugh.

Later he would go out and return with a giant bag of candy, and would keep cuddling you, the two of you chewing on candy, while watching another movie that he had picked.

“Tae, why did you buys so much candy?”

“I know you have a sweet tooth and you’re sick so you can eat as much candy as you want today!” He smiled.

Jungkook:

Jungkook would be freaking out, the moment you realized you were sick! He have never taken care of anyone else before, so he would have no idea what to do. But being really nervous about it, he would just tell you to lie down while he thinks of something, before going in the other room and calling his hyungs for advice.

“Hyung, the love of my life, my sweet, sweet jagi is sick! What do I do? Please help! I’m freaking out!”

About Mark Lee

You guys don’t understand how much respect I have for Mark Lee. I’m so serious about this. It’s such a hard thing to just move to a different country and learn the language. THEN you train and train and train for years in order to do what you’ve been dreaming of for a long time.

He’s kind of a role model for me because I want to be like him. Not necessarily a Kpop star or whatever, but I’d want to have that same passion for something that I love and just run with it as far as I can go.
Another thing is that he can take criticism when people want to help him improve. It’s very difficult to take something that someone has said to you like “you need to work on this more” or “this isn’t very good but let me tell you how to make it better” and turn that into something great with a positive attitude. I still struggle with that but just seeing Mark work with it makes me want to be more open to constructive criticism. People that succeed are people that allow others to teach them and help.

Mark may be my bias but I feel the same way about Johnny, Winwin, Kun, Yuta, Ten, Chenle, and Renjun. They had the courage to move to Korea and actually get through their training. I’m very proud to be a fan of NCT and I’m so happy that we have such a supportive fan base that loves each other.

i . buddha said: “a jug fills drop by drop”. trying to keep in mind this quote helped me so so much starting the year the right way!

ii . don’t be harsh on yourself. change isn’t something that occurs within days, and habits need to be formed. but keep some balance in your daily life. you can forgive yourself if you are too tired to tidy up your room before going to bed, but try to mantain the level of clutter low by doing small things when you feel like it!

iii . procrastination is something i have to deal with everyday. but i found out that when i just can’t control my discipline, i just need someone else to do that for me! it works all the times.

iv . listen to your body. sometimes you just have to trust your instinct and your intuition. feel the moment and do what’s better for yourself.

v . when times are a little darker and you feel the winter blues, you need something to make your heart feel a little warmer. please, please, please, go and watch yuri on ice. please. just do it. it will make your life like 10000 times better. it saved me from winter depression. it saved me. just trust me. i don’t know how many tears of happiness i have cried because of yoi. go. and watch it.

vi . this month i realized one little thing. i have so so many mental schemes. and the majority of them are really bad for me and for my mental health and for my life in general. for example, when i wake up in the morning to go to school my brain decides that i have to feel stressed. and that i just can’t enjoy the morning. even if i don’t have any tests that day. when i realized it i started paying attention to what i feel and why, and decided that i wouldn’t have let my brain ruin every single morning! and it worked!!!

vii . at the end of the day write a done list. this has been one of the best thing for my happiness levels lately. list every single good thing that you did, even if it’s a small thing. and feel proud about it!!

viii . sometimes i just can’t get started with a specific task because i set goals that are too high and that scare me before i even start. if i tell myself that i’m going to revise all of my notes i can be sure that i won’t do it. but if i set the goal to revise for a limited space of time, or to just study some chapters, i don’t feel overwhelmed and eventually when i’m finished with the goal i have set, i’ll just keep on working!

ix . when i’m feeling really down or there’s something that bothers me, i know that the only thing i have to do is writing. i take out my journal and start scribbling what’s on my mind. i feel completely free and in touch with myself, to me writing is like a therapy. many times i got to understand a problem that i couldn’t solve… just by writing. sometimes dancing and singing to my favourite songs works as well. just try to find what’s an activity that has the power to calm you down or to make you see things more clearly, or something that can be an outburst for feelings you have been suppressing.

x . this month i learned that i. have. to. throw myself away and just do things. i have many ideas but i’m always too shy to do anything. but in these past weeks i tried really hard to escape the prison i have built for myself. i started interviewing some of my classmates and recording them as they talk, which is something that i wished to do for a long time. i made a group on a messaging app to talk about some more serious topics with them. i took all the courage i had and clearly expressed my feelings about some stuff to my best friend, and we are happier now. i went out of my comfort zone and experienced new things. even if i didn’t always feel perfectly comfortable, i tried to avoid panicking, and instead i took a deep breath and reminded myself that failing was always better than not doing anything at all!

xi . and last but not least, here is some of the music i’ve been listening to in january. enjoy!

Thank you so much to @plastic-pipes for taking this commission from me. I need something to make myself feel better after the finale and she delivered. You should absolutely check out her commissions page because…just look at how gorgeous this is.

Complicated

Request from @iamanoreo4: Hi! Don’t know if this has been requested before, but could you do an imagine where Reader is friends with the Golden Trio and she has feelings for Harry but after meeting Draco (who may or may not like her *shrug*) those feelings fade? And you can take it from there because you’re an amazing writer! Thanks in advance!

Thank you for requesting! This was so fun to write, I hope you enjoy :) I decided to add it so that Harry likes Reader but he’s really bad at showing those feelings so theres more drama because lets face it I’m a slut for a bit of angst ;) By the way, this turned out to be longer than expected and I wasn’t too sure whether or not to make it into a second part so it’s just a really long piece of writing.

You didn’t know when you started to like Harry, but you knew you liked him for sure. You’d dream about him; you pictured the simple future the two of you could have together and how perfect it would be, living a life of harmony at last with the Chosen One. “Tell him Y/N. I know Harry, he likes you back.” Hermione said one night in the common room. It was a Thursday night, it was just the two of you alone because the boys had gone to Quidditch practice and well, you didn’t really know where anyone else was. “He doesn’t Hermione. We’ve been friends for five years, he should’ve made a move by now.” You mumble, highlighting an extract from the stupid transfiguration book you had to read before Monday morning.

Hermione slammed her book shut, sighing as she leaned forward. You felt her staring at you and your lips turned up in a smirk as she waited for you to say something. “I’ll talk to him.” She says, knowing it’ll get a reaction out of you. “No you won’t!” You argued. You set your book down, leaning back. “Why does everything have to be so complicated?” Hermione chuckled. “Boys are boys - whether you like it or not, Harry’s a bit dim when it comes to girls. I doubt he even knows how to get a word in sideways about how to talk to you about this sort of thing.” You roll your eyes, the whole concept feeling really stupid. “Well he needs to learn because it’s really inconvenient.” You look down at your watch, cursing.

“Shit! I was meant to meet Draco Malfoy in the library five minutes ago! McGonagall’s going to kill me.” You practically yell as you grab your bag and head toward the portrait hole. Hermione wishes you a good luck before you leave. Professor McGonagall had (without your permission) signed you up to help Draco with certain topics concerning Transfiguration. The rest of your friends never got on with him but you’d never been a victim of his so-called name calling-general wrath thing he had going on. You bound your way down the staircases until you arrive at the library, panting as you make a mental note to work on your cardio. To your surprise, Draco seemed to be running late as well; he turned up at the same time, sweaty and flushed. “You’re running late as well?” You ask, pulling your hair behind your ear. “No, well yeah, I had Quidditch practice and Flint wouldn’t let me go.” He apologises with a smile, opening the door for you to walk in first. You thanked him as you waited for him to catch up.

“I hear they’re really coming down hard on Quidditch this year.” You say in attempt to make small talk. “Uh, yeah. It’s definitely becoming more of a workout.” Draco chuckles, sitting down at a table amidst the completely desolate library, exempt for Madam Pince. “I can tell, you’re all sweaty.” You laugh, pointing at his glistening forehead. Despite what you’d been told about the Malfoy boy, he seemed to be nice and fairly good looking. You couldn’t believe you’d never had a single conversation with him before, and you couldn’t help but stare at the way his green Quidditch undershirt hugged his muscles. “Marcus would never had let me go early if I didn’t look like I was about to pass out from exhaustion.” Draco laughed, pulling out his Transfiguration book from his rucksack. You bit your lip, suddenly feeling bad. “I’m sorry McGonagall made us do this tonight of all nights. You shouldn’t have missed Quidditch training for me.” You declare, watching as Draco’s lips formed a small smirk. A small butterfly swam around your stomach, but you ignored it. “I wanted to.” He smiled before the smallest blush flashed across his cheeks.

Anyway people keep asking me for reasons why I like non-white Percy so much and. I mean, aside from all the already compelling arguments that we need representation desperately, and we could always use more series with well-developed non-white protagonists that don’t have racist tropes applied to them. (those reasons alone should be enough.)

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE!

In this case, Percy being a person of color would add a new dimension to the plot, the character, how the world interacts with him, and how he interacts with the world.

1. He is automatically branded as a “troubled kid” right off the bat, before people even meet him.

Reread that, and then ask yourself if you know any white kids with this problem. That’s what I thought.

However, if he’s not white, not only is this believable, but it’s actually the expected outcome.

Now, I guess if you saw a white kid with this intense brooding expression like Percy is supposed to have, maybe your guard would go up. And I know he’s got authority problems. But this isn’t something that he can modify or adapt to; it happens without him realizing it, without him being able to control it, regardless of how he tries to behave better, and it happens on a regular basis.

I’m sick of seeing common poc problems applied to white characters by doing a bunch of buildup to make it seem believable, when all you really need to do is make the character not white. White kids have no idea what it feels like to be judged that way, so the audience this would really speak to is non-white kids. (don’t come at me listing white kids who get judged this way, because i promise you, every single one of them has the option to change it if they stop acting a certain way. non-white kids don’t get that option, because it’s based on their skin, not their behavior.)

2. The Mist and the media work against him.

Here’s the thing: it’s really hard to convince people that a white kid is a criminal. It’s really easy to convince people that a black or brown kid is a criminal. The media is so quick to exploit (and create) this problem.

There’s a lot of quotes about how the Mist works by conforming to what people expect to see. And when the vast majority of people see a person of color at a crime scene, they assume they’re the criminal. While as when they see a white person at a crime scene, they assume they’re the victim. So if Percy isn’t white, it makes sense that the Mist would work against him.

The way the entire nation turns against him and starts hunting him down in Lightning Thief is eerily reminiscent of how brown and black boys are treated by law enforcement and how the media runs rampant with the stories. The way they begin digging up dirt on his past and branding him as a suspect, despite the fact that he is also missing, there’s no evidence that he did anything wrong, and they have every reason to think he is the victim, is exactly the way the media treats countless black and brown victims.

People are ready to believe he killed his own mother because he got expelled from school several times, despite having no history of any homicidal tendencies at all. I promise you, if something like this really happened to a white kid, there’d be dozens of articles of people tearfully talking about how he was bullied in school and he adored his mother and this couldn’t have happened, it just can’t be. Furthermore: they media gives Annabeth and Grover the benefit of the doubt, because Annabeth and Grover are white.

“Who are the other children in this photo?” Barabara Walters asked dramatically. “Who is the man with them? Is Percy Jackson a delinquent, a terrorist, or perhaps the brainwashed victim of a frightening new cult?”

She calls them “children” and Ares a “man” while she calls Percy a delinquent, a terrorist, or, maybe, if she’s feeling a little inkling to not be completely racist today, maybe he might be a brainwashed victim. He’s obviously not innocent, so if by some miracle he happens to be a victim, he’s obviously got to be brainwashed. Also: have you ever heard anyone use the word “terrorist” about a white person like… it just doesn’t happen.

Think about how crazy this is! Percy is a child, seen standing next to a full grown man who looks like a ripped biker, and people are talking about him as though he is the criminal! That could only happen to a brown or black kid, like, I’m sorry, that’s just how the American media works.

And of course, it would definitely make sense that people would readily believe Percy attacked a cheerleader and set a school on fire.

3. This quote

“A gang of kids had circled us. Six of them in all – white kids with expensive clothes and mean faces. Like the kids at Yancy Academy: rich brats playing at being bad boys.”

The fact that he adds, “white”…. I mean, yeah, a white kid could have said this quote (a white writer wrote it, after all), but it makes more sense coming from a kid who isn’t white. We know Percy comes from a poor background and that’s definitely the reason he’s so turned off by how they’re rich and pretending to be street kids, so why wouldn’t it also make sense for him to come from a brown or black background and that’s why he’s so turned off by how they’re white and pretending to be street kids?

Answer: it does make sense. It makes perfect sense.

True blood son...and daughter - Damian Wayne x Sister!Reader

Summary : Your first meeting with your half-brother didn’t really went well, both of you being quite hot headed…Slowly but surely however, you guys warm up to each other.

It’s meh, I’m so dissatisfied with my writing lately…hope you’ll still enjoy it :

(My masterlist blog here : https://ella-ravenwood-archives.tumblr.com)

_______________________________________________________________________

-Don’t forget I’m the true blood son !

-Oh yeah ? That’s funny because you know what ? I’m the true blood daughter ! So your argument is invalid. Do you think before you speak ?

Your father looked between you and Damian, not knowing what to do…This wasn’t going how he wanted it to go at all.

******************

Your first encounter with your half-brother Damian was…tense, to say the least. One day your dad came home with the boy, and boom, I guess you had a new brother. You were super excited. At least at first. You quickly realized that he wasn’t really…the nicest.

Even before your father explained where he came from and all, you knew he was definitely your brother. He looked almost exactly like your dad when he was a kid. Almost exactly, because his eyes weren’t blue but green, and his skin was way darker than your father’s pale complexion. Other than that…it was like seeing a mini-Bruce. You hoped he wasn’t like your dad mentally too, because that was gonna be a nightmare…And he wasn’t. He was worst. Oh my god so much worst.

The first words he uttered to you were full of disdain :

-You look weak.

Your father stiffened, ready to intervene. He knew that with you, this could go only two ways : you’d loose all control and fight Damian, or ignore him completely, much like your mother would. Your mother, Catwoman, champion in ignoring people that annoy her since the day she was born. You took the second option, and with a little smile that made Damian fumed, you turned away from him, going back to the work you were doing on the bat mobile before your dad emerged with your brother. Hum. Half-brother.

But Damian wouldn’t have it. He already met the other batboys, and he made sure they knew that Batman’s TRUE son was home. He went too you, under your father’s gaze. Your dad was still ready to lunge forward between you two.

-Did you hear me ?

-Yes.

Damian was confused. Even Dick, who seemed like the most collected one, reacted to his provocations. And here you were, kinda ignoring him, a smug look on your face. He had to assure his superiority on you, and you had to react for it to work !!

-You look very weak.

-You already said that. Redundant.

-You look like you…

-Hey, listen, I know what you did to Dick, Jay and Tim ok ? Won’t work with me, I don’t care about your little need to feel better than us. So here we go, I’m gonna tell you know : hey, you’re better than me. Cool right ? I bet you feel great now.

-Well at least you know your place.

Oh damn. You were doing such a good job. You were being so calm and collected, like your father taught you. You should have kept ignoring him, just like your mom did to people she didn’t like…You knew he was eventually going to say something that’d make you mad. And here. “Know your place” ? “KNOW YOUR PLACE” ? How dare he ?!

You stood up to face him. He was almost as tall as you, even though he was definitely years younger, no more than 10, and you were already (your age). You were kinda short. Like your mom. In the corner of your eyes, you could see your father coming towards you, but you made him understand with your eyes that he shouldn’t intervene. You needed to do this. And so he stopped, and looked at you two.

-Do you want me to teach you your place ?

Hi, I was wondering if you know the name of this fan-fiction I was trying to find. It's a modern soulmate au where whatever you draw on your skin shows up on you're soulmates skin . It starts off with either Clarke or Bellamy waking up ( pretty sure it's Clarke) and has a dick drawn on her forehead. They start to talk to each other by writing on each other's skin without ever meeting but It ends with Clarke and Bellamy meeting weeks later at a party and they kiss

We found this one: i don’t even know if you exist and yet i crave you.

I’m pretty sure it’s in verse and the first line goes something like this: Clarke Griffin dies on a wednesday. The day wasn’t significant but the woman was. The other one is definitely in verse. I’m pretty sure it’s 2 chapters. Bellamy’s just gotten out of Mount Weather and he’s injured or sick or something like that. Clarke goes on a mission without telling him and he gets really upset. Thank you!’

The first fic is To The Stars, but we can’t seem to find the second fic - sound familiar to any of our followers?

No based-on AUs for Shakespeare, but we do have some fics that are inspired by/center around Shakespeare-related things:

I hate it when you tell people that you are bored and looking for tv shows to fill your time because you are too fatigued to do anything else.  And their response is to argue that you are bored because you are wasting time and you should be more productive.

Take a class!  Engage in a hobby!  Earn money!

Like can you stop trying to make me feel badly about myself for 5 seconds and listen to what I’m saying?  I’m too fatigued to create the new neural pathways needed to actually learn something new.  And I’m too fatigued to make my body work correctly.

But that’s ok because you feel better about yourself for putting me in my place, so at least I’m good for something right?
