need to re-read the books

Book!Gems I wish the BBC had included

D’Artagnan showing up, alone, at the monastery to get Aramis like “I am so tired and hungry and have had such a hard time Aramis let’s go” but Aramis is like “First let me read you my thesis and also some poetry…I can’t get you real food but we do have spinach” and d’Artagnan’s entire reaction

Athos teaching his manservant a form of sign language so there’d be at least one person he wouldn’t have to speak verbally with

Athos locking himself and his servant in the cellar of this dude’s inn and drinking all his wine, ransacking all his groceries

D’Artagnan being so overwhelmed by Athos’ angst, so awkward, so uncertain how to respond so he just pretends to fall asleep and Athos lowkey finds it adorable like “aw look at this. lightweight. #BlessHim”

D’Artagnan showing up to talk to Athos. Wearing a dress. And Athos not even batting an eye.

The Inseparables teaching d’Artagnan to play tennis but he nearly gets smacked in the eye by the ball and panics, “I have to meet with the king I cannot go to the palace with a black eye” and that one guard dragging him about it so d’Artagnan chases him all over Paris on a duel and actually kills the guy. The king finds this hilarious and gives everyone money I’m crying

Papa “Do not sell this horse” d’Artagnan, Charles *Immediately Sells the Horse* d’Artagnan

Athos “d’Artagnan don’t do the thing” de la Fere, Charles “Athos I did the thing it went about as well as you expected” d’Artagnan

D’Artagnan’s hysterics over Constance and Athos initially trying to calm him down but then just telling him to go ahead and weep, d’Artagnan actually fainting from being so upset about Constance

Athos “You jostled my injured shoulder, prepare to die” de la Fere

Athos being the leader of the Charles d’Artagnan fanclub

D’Artagnan making smalltalk before his duel like “is your arm okay for fighting?” and then apologizing to Aramis and Porthos because he’s that sure Athos is going to kill him before he can fight them I mean in what way was that not pure gold c’mon son

The Boys scrounging for food and they all contribute and then d’Artagnan being like, “I know a guy who has chocolate”

Rochefort and d’Artagnan hating each other to such an extent they kinda bond over it

The musketeers forming a Friendship Walk so many across it takes up the entire street

D’Artagnan fighting Rochefort at that inn and then getting the hell beat out of him by everyone there, subsequently fleeced, and then showing up at Treville’s office like “look man, I got nothin’”

That one scene where Athos spends like half an hour giving d’Artagnan a detailed play-by-play of gambling, losing all their stuff, winning some back, losing it again, while d’Artagnan steadily wilts on the spot.

D’Artagnan’s tendency to exclaim/whisper/mutter/hiss “merde !” so often it’s practically his catchphrase

D’Artagnan being lowkey insulted and quite honestly alarmed by life in general

Call me by your name, a film review

Spoiler-free, of course.

top 5 scenes I absolutely loved:

#1 the war memorial scene
simply can’t get over how well-directed and gorgeous this scene is. Literally perfect.

#2 the first kiss
Monet’s berm. Both Armie & Timothée are AT THE TOP of their acting game in this scene.
Also, the way it’s shot.
Also, the way it’s written / adapted from the book.

#3 goodbye scene
Oscar-nominated Timothée Chalamet, there is just no need to say more.

#4 Elio’s dad monologue, aka Michael Stuhlbarg breaks everyone’s heart
GOD I JUST CANNOT GET OVER THIS SCENE. My heart broke into pieces right there and then.

#5 end credits
My heart broke into even smaller pieces, if that’s even possible.

Bonus thing I really loved
Sufjan Stevens’ songs are gorgeous and incredibly well-timed in the film.

top 5 scenes I didn’t love:

literally none because this film is PERFECT.

People who bash Dumbledore and try to use the books as ‘proof’ that he’s an evil irredeemable bastard need to give up their delusions. JK Rowling, who created Dumbledore, has said again and again that he’s a good man who tried to do the best for people. She even shot down that stupid 'Dumbledore made a horcrux’ theory by telling the OP to re-read the books. So Dumbledore haters need to get over themselves and their delusions because they’ll never win.

I believe that Loyse was specifically brought to clear Damen because Laurent knew he was going to give himself up to his uncle. Loyse was there to clear Damen's name, it was Laurent's dying gift essentially. Makes it so much sadder :-( but I could be wrong! That's how I interpreted it.

that makes sense! I honestly don’t remember loyse’s testimony bc I’m waiting for the one year of the first time I read it to re read (bc I’m a sentimental fuck) but you’re probably right!

The Titan’s Curse: Artemis is captured and forced to hold up the sky. Apollo is ordered not to intervene. Apollo disguises himself as a hobo and gives Percy important directions for his quest. The Dark Prophecy: Apollo is made human and forced to undertake a series of incredibly dangerous quests. Artemis is ordered not to intervene. The Hunters of Artemis just so happen to be in the right place at the right time to save Apollo’s life.

First off need to re-read all the Percy Jackson books because, reasons secondly, well duh, siblings go hard, like my brother and sister were to roll up and be like “hey we gotta rob a bank” I’d be like “okay I’ll go get the ski masks” though I’d be confused because my sister lives across the country from me. But yeah no way Artemis is letting anything happen to Apollo

Me trying to have a productive, internet-free afternoon.

TBTP Shinji/Hiyori gets me every time tbh

Urahara has just pleaded to CC Yamamoto to let him go, because he’d just sent Hiyori out there - then you see Shinji looking to the side, his mind is already running a mile a minute about the situation as a whole and Urahara’s previous words.

^^^^^^^^^^^ yuh huh

and from here on, Shinji picks her up - Hiyori is exausted from trying to fend off Kensei on her own for who knows how long - and then he doesn’t let her go, even once.

mm bruh

bruhhhhhhhhhhh dr0p her

Hiyori actual cinnamon roll lol can’t even draw her zan on Kensei

the relationship between snape and he marauders IS NOT bullying. it was rivarly, for fuck's sake, read the books honey

awwwww honey it’s cute how u think this is some devastating burn

why do people always tell me to read the books? like… y’all. here’s your future warning: i’ve read them all. several times. wow.

you know what i read honey bunch? four kids ganging up on one kid. that’s not rivalry. i read one of those kids being a prefect, one of those kids becoming head boy and both of them using their power to continue to attack a kid. that’s not rivalry. i read one of those kids nearly killing a kid and not getting so much as a slap on the wrist. that’s not rivalry.

the only word we have about it being “””rivalry””” is the bullies themselves. lupin and sirius were both active participants in the bullying and their word is not! fucking! trustworthy! you know what is? the fucking OBJECTIVE third-person-pov memory we get from snape.

you know what is? harry’s reaction. harry knows rivalry. harry is intimately knowledgeable about rivalry and bullying and the difference between it and he’s not unconcerned about what the marauders do to snape. he’s not indifferent to it. he doesn’t see it as rivalry because he knows it isn’t - he knows it’s bullying. because he’s experienced both. if harry potter is disturbed at what he sees about the truth of snape and the marauders’ interaction, then you should fucking pay attention bc if anyone could’ve written that off as “just rivalry” it’s harry - but he doesn’t. because he has eyes and a brain and, unlike you, he knows how to use them.

it’s four on one, honey. that’s never rivalry. that can’t be rivalry. they nearly kill him, they sexually harass him, they choke him with soap, they call him names and publically humiliate him…. if that’s “rivalry”??? what’s bullying to you then???? and they do it because they’re bored. because he’s there.

you know what? i want you to go back and re-read snape’s worst memory. because i think you read it and you missed something. i think you read it and missed the defensiveness of snape, the way he reacts so immediately to james’ approaching him, how he knows, he KNOWS james coming to him means he’s going to get attacked. i think you missed how there was a whole crowd of people and ONLY lily tried to help snape. i think you missed how lupin, a prefect who’s supposed to uphold the rules and protect all students, doesn’t say a fucking word when james attacks snape. i think you missed james sexually harass snape. i think you missed a lot of things that might inform your opinion and, frankly, if either of us needs to “re-read” the books, it’s you my guy.

or maybe you read them just fine. maybe that’s fine by you because, for some reason, bullying is okay when it happens to a character you don’t like. that could be it too.

I wish i could have the ability to write an essay about even after everything that happened to him, Percy is still a Hufflepuff at heart.

One of the reasons we all love Jamie so much is because he’s so articulate - especially when it comes to expressing his feelings for Claire.

Throughout The Books, Claire periodically feels bad - guilty, even - that she is much more reserved, much more held back in expressing herself than Jamie is. And she fears - misguidedly - that Jamie will think her feelings aren’t as deep, simply because she doesn’t speak like he does.

But Claire seems to forget that she’s always been devastatingly articulate when she needs to be - and these moments always involve her feelings for Jamie.

I’m re-reading Book 7 (An Echo in the Bone) right now, and this short, beautiful passage proves this point very clearly. A bit of non-spoilery context: Jamie and Claire have returned to Lallybroch in 1778 - some 12 years since they were last there in Book 3 (Voyager). Similar to his homecoming in Book 1, Jamie feels out of place at Lallybroch.

Lallybroch is his home - but it hasn’t been his home, for a very long time. So where does he seek solace? In Claire - his true home.

He sat up in bed in the dark, hands wrapped around his knees, listening…
Claire lay beside him, half curled in sleep, her hair a dark smudge across the white pillow. He listened to her breathe, thanking God for the sound…Claire shifted in her sleep, turning half onto her back, and desire for her welled up in him like water. He hesitated…reluctant to wake her.
“I feel maybe like you did,” he whispered to her, too low to wake her. “When ye came through the stones. Like the world is still there—but it‘s no the world ye had.”
He’d swear she hadn’t wakened, but a hand came out from the sheets, groping, and he took it. She sighed, long and sleep-laden, and pulled him down beside her. Took him in her arms and cradled him, warm on her soft breasts.
“You‘re the world I have,” she murmured, and then her breathing changed, and she took him down with her into safety.

ur just jealous that Jake passed the Dolan Twins in subscribers in a few months and won the awards. He is so amazing not a monster so stop hating on him

Hey little girl,

I’m going to need you to go re-read your moral science books because you’ve clearly missed a few lessons on humanity.

Also, didn’t your parents ever teach you that it’s rude to butt into adult conversations?

FAVORITE BOOK OR SERIES [4/20] » Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta

“The depression belongs to all of us. I think of the family down the road whose mother was having a baby and they went around the neighborhood saying, “We’re pregnant.” I want to go around the neighborhood saying, “We’re depressed.” If my mum can’t get out of bed in the morning, all of us feel the same. Her silence has become ours, and it’s eating us alive.”

i never thought gendry would be legitimized and made lord of something but it COULD happen in the books an if it does i want arya to call him m'lord and he'd be like "i'm no lord", "as you say m'lord" and just keeps annoying him with "milord"

Hahahahaha can you even imagine I love that as an idea

Book!Wise I have no clue what’s going to happen, because I keep forgetting Mya and Edric are known bastards too, so Gendry’s not the last Baratheon-blooded person in the books, but I can’t even remember if they’re all alive and I need to re-read the books haha

But yes if Gendry ever gets legitimised I want this please
