Finale Canon Divergence time - so, imagine that the magic bean Killian retrieved from the beanstalk was still usable and I’m gonna spin off from there…(cause I wanted the payoff for the lengths Killian went through in the EF to try to get back to Emma) - 900 words

Regina and Snow have a silent conversation and seem to come to an agreement, both of them looking at Killian with equal looks of unwavering determination.

“Go, use the bean. Get to Emma and do whatever it takes to help her believe again. I’m going to find David and Regina will do whatever she can to hold this place together.”

Killian grips the bean tight in his palm, feeling both incredulous at the suggestion and relieved at the same time. So many of the people he will need to leave behind have become his family, but he knows none of that will matter without Emma by his side.

“Snow, I can’t leave you all here to…”

“Killian, she needs you. We need you. Go. Now!”

Worth the Wait- Poe Dameron

Word Count: 2385

Pairing: Poe Dameron x OC

Prompt: “Why are you looking at me like that” and Poe and OC friends to lovers.

A/N: Give me more Poe. This was so fun to write…best friends to lovers is my fav trope of all time besides love/hate I think!

“You really don’t have to sit here, Poe,” I said, casting the pilot a look from over my shoulder. “You gotta be exhausted.”

He was sitting on an overturned crate, chin propped in one hand as he watched me work. A crooked grin tugged at one side of his mouth. “What? And leave my baby all alone with you?”

I rolled my eyes at his teasing, but as I turned back to his ship, a small smile was on my own lips. “Honestly your “baby” might be better off in my hands than yours. Considering all the pain you’ve caused it.” I shined my light into the fuselage, double checking my work.

Imagine Daryl cheating on you not knowing that you're pregnant

(Wooo more angst I guess :3 Hope it is as requested and you all like it :3 Gif not mine/found it on google/credit to the original owner.)

You were both arguing again. About what? He couldn’t remember and neither could you but you were now just both screaming at each other.

Finally, it suddenly stop and you both got quiet. With nothing else to say, he just exhaled and dipped his head down. Staring at his feet, he wondered what had happen between you and him to get like this.

He turned his back to you slowly and walked towards the door to leave, it just seemed right to let you have your space.

Before walking out, he looked back at you only to hear the sound your voice.

“I love you Daryl…”

He turned back and closed the door. Those words he had heard them a thousand times and never once had he ever gotten tired of them but this time something was off.

He couldn’t figure out if you were sincere about it or not and just took some time to reflect on everything.

~~~~
In the few weeks of your arrival to Alexandria, the two of you had seem to drift apart and argue a lot more. Your happiness and joyful attitude had seem to change.
Anything would seem to bother you and you would just seem to push him away whenever he would try to comfort you, making him frustrated.
When he’d leave you alone for some time, you’d get even more frustrated and as he’d come back to your side, the fight between you and him would only seem to get worse.
He hated that feeling of pushing you away and the feeling of you pushing him away. He thought to himself that he would do anything to make you happier again but with everything going on and everything that had happen, even he himself found it hard to be positive.
~~~~

As he sat on the couch, he just didn’t felt like he could sleep on it again this night and decided to get up and walk out to see what the others were up to.

He thought of going to Aaron’s for a late snack, knowing that he and Eric would welcome him, and walked towards where his house was.

He walked the road with his head down, hands in his pocket to keep himself warm when suddenly he felt someone walk by.

He looked back and realized it was Rosita. Oddly, seeing here walk just as him, made him curious and he just had to ask.

“Hey…Where are you going at this hour?”

She turned in surprised, seeming to not have noticed him earlier and simply sighed.

“To Spencer’s house…”

She seemed embarrassed about saying it and could only seem to hope to be able to leave soon before further questioning.

She was about to turn around as it got quiet but somehow Daryl just had to keep talking to her.

“W-what are you doing there? Is it cause of Abraham?”

He knew the answer but he felt an urge of being indiscreet and wanted her to answer honestly.

She ended up being pissed and just nodded.

“Yeah…well now you know the answer…Can I go now?”

From her answer, he just seemed to understand what was going on with her. Looking for someone to comfort in a time when the person you love the most had just threw you away, just seemed to suddenly appeal to him.

Him and her were on the same page and it would just seem fine to be the one to help her out while her to do so for him.

He walked closer to her and casually just asked her honestly.

“How about you forget about him for tonight…Let’s go to your house…”

She raised her eyebrow and knowing how much him and you loved each other she just couldn’t understand as to what was happening.

She stepped back and bluntly asked him. Nervously, he told her everything and ended up walking to her house.

Just as he expected to happen, he spent the night with her and tried to forget about the fight you and him had.

~~~~~
While he left, you had cried to yourself, thinking about everything. You didn’t knew as to where this whole frustration came to you but you just felt suffocated with everything lately.
It was easy to be pissed off and it would always seem that you would let it out the instant Daryl would be around.
You hated yourself for it each time you would later reflect on it and remembering his sad expression, only made it worse.
You wanted it to change, to go back to the time where everything was sweet and nice with him. To the time, when it was easy to laugh and forgive each other after stupid little arguments.
You knew it had something to do with you and you just had to figure it out. You thought about it over the night and eventually fell to sleep.
~~~~

The next morning you woke up and oddly Daryl wasn’t on the couch. You stopped to think for a while but believing that he might sleep at Aaron’s or Rick’s, you simply nodded and walked to over to make breakfast.

In the meanwhile, he was spending the morning in Rosita house’s still holding her. He felt bad to leave you like that but thinking that you might need some time he stayed with her and they later ate breakfast as well.

You sat there expecting him to come back anytime soon but as you realized the time of the day, you decided you needed to figure out what was happening with yourself.

You needed to talk to someone and decided to join Denise in the infirmary. As you helped her out with whatever she needed, you both talked and she made you realize something.

“Well maybe your mood swings…and your sensitivity to smell…it’s all linked to you being pregnant…When was your last period?”

As she said that, you stopped whatever you were doing and stared up at her. In thought, you counted the last time you had your period and realized it was quite some time ago.

She noticed your silence and questioned further, “Do you and Daryl…use condoms when you both…”

You shook your head remembering the last time you and him had been together intimately and just slumped down to sit on the nearby chair.

Nervously, you didn’t know how to react properly. Were you happy about the possibility or would it break you and him even more, you couldn’t know at that moment and it scared you.

As Denise noticed you, she got closer to you and went in to rub your back for comfort.

“Look I think you can take a test here just to be sure…maybe you’re not and it’s something else…Whatever it is we’ll figure it out ok!”

You wiped your little tears and nodded to her. A test wouldn’t hurt you and if you really were pregnant then you thought you that it might be better to learn it now.

~~~~~
As you were about to take the test, Daryl was just quietly leaving Rosita’s house for the day and was hoping to go check on you.
However, something in his hear and mind told him that you might push him away again, making him turn to look at Rosita as he stood by the door.
In a mumble, he simply eyed her and said, “I’ll be back for tonight…Wait for me ok…”
She sighed and asked him about you but he simply shrugged and explained his reasoning. She ended up agreeing and told him to quickly leave before anyone would see him walk out of her house.
~~~~

You ended up finding the truth behind your frustration and sickness. You were pregnant, two lines on both of the tests that you took.

Your heart thumped and you thought of everything. Was he really going to be okay with this? You remembered you both talked about wanting a family together but that was back when everything was sunshine and flowers between you not like this.

You weren’t even sleeping in the same house at this point and the thought of bringing a child into an unhappy family saddened you.

As you sat in deep thought and discussion with Denise, she tried her best to make you realize that it wasn’t as bad.

She tried to convince you of Daryl’s kind heart and how he would certainly understand and probably make things right with you.

Although, you could see it, you expressed to her that you felt bad for the way you had been treating him.

“I-I don’t to think an apology will be enough…”

She didn’t knew what to say and you both got quiet for a while until an idea occurred to her.

“How about you make a nice diner for him…and maybe make a surprise about your pregnancy announcement while at it…I’m sure he’ll appreciate it…”

The idea made you smile and only sweet memories about him getting you dinner whenever you were hungry, came to you. You realized it was in times like that, that you would both just fall for one another.

You ended up nodding and with some confidence you agreed.

“Alright I like that idea…A new start for me and him…and our little one…”

She smiled to hear you and you both got to work on different ideas of how to present the whole thing to him.

Not wanting to rush anything, you decided to truly prepare it for him in the few days that followed.

~~~~~
While at it, he had been spending his night’s at Rosita for her company and had lied to you about just wanting to hang out with Aaron.
You didn’t question him any further thinking that it would be better to surprise him at the right moment and just let him his space.
He didn’t want to be apart from you but your distantness just seemed it was better to let you on your own for a while.
With Rosita, he was able to talk and just feel comforted enough to not want to leave it so soon. He knew it was wrong but something about it was just worth it to him as long as no one found out.
She wouldn’t ever replace what he feels for you but it was something new to him and a breath of fresh air that he needed for the time being.
~~~~~

One evening, after him and her had just had sex, he remembered you passing by him and telling him to come for dinner as he walked outside.

He knew it meant you were fine enough to talk again and finally felt like he needed to spend the rest of the night with you. He explained himself to her and she understood, letting him leave.

You sat waiting anxiously at home, hoping he’ll be back soon and really just couldn’t wait to tell him of the news.

In the days leading to this moment, you grew to love the idea of having your own child and could just imagine how lively your life would get.

You barely could sit still in your seat and as soon as your door was opened, you got up from the kitchen table to peer over.

It was Daryl and you cracked a smile at him. He lowered his gaze as he would whenever he would get nervous and made you chuckle.

To hear your laughter, made him feel better and realized how much he had missed you. However, at the same time that smile and sound, stung his heart and reminded him of what he had been doing behind your back, making his hesitate to smile so much.

He walked over to see you and greeted you in a low tone. You nodded and shyly welcomed him.

He sat across from you and smiled to see the food you had cooked. He smelled it and just felt back at home and slowly seemed to forget about everything that had happen.

~~~~~
You both ate quietly for a moment, not knowing the right words to say. Stealing glances at each other, you smiled and notice him going from smiling to a concerned expression in a matter of seconds
It worried you that he might not like it or something and took the lead in starting a conversation.
“I-I’m glad you came for tonight…I-I really missed you…”
You looked up from your plate to see his reaction and once again saw his lips curl. It wasn’t out of pure happiness it seemed but you took it as a compliment.
He nodded at you and just couldn’t find anything to tell you but that he felt the same about you.
It was the truth but part of it, he felt himself as a jerk to have done such things to you. It broke his heart to realize the whole thing and he just wanted to hit himself over it.
He then reached for your hand and simply repeated to you about how he loves you, making you feel a sense of relief.
The evening went quite well and you both started to chat in a more relaxed way that reminded you both of when you first met at the prison.
~~~~~

As you both sat on the couch, you then got up and revealed to him that you had another surprise for him and that he needed to close his eyes.

It slightly unnerved him but nonetheless he did as you asked of him.

You came back with a box in hand and kneeled close to his knee, enough to put your hand on it.

As you did, you then told him to open his eyes. He noticed the box in hand and just wondered as to what it was.

You could see the curiosity in his eyes and excitement came over to you. You smiled brightly and just couldn’t seem to sit still.

You handed it to him and looking into his eyes, you said, “I’m sorry about my attitude lately…I really am…You didn’t deserve to be treated the way I treated you…You deserve better…So here is my apology gift…”

He swallowed hard to hear you and couldn’t think as to what you would offer him. The box was intricate and he felt like he didn’t deserve whatever it was inside as he now felt at fault on his part.

Nonetheless, with your excitement, he had no choice but to do just as you asked and open the box.

As he did, he noticed the paper filling surrounding a piece of a folded paper and looked back at you.

You gave him a curt nod to signify him to take it and he did so. He took it slowly and opened it to read it.

“You’re going to be a dad”

His heart stopped. His eyes had tears and widened to see those words and he couldn’t figure out how to truly feel.

As you noticed him, you simply chuckled and told him to check the tests you had took to let him know of the truth.

He slowly searched for them and seeing the two sticks with each a positive sign on them, he realized how much in the wrong he was.

He knew he still loved you but just felt like he didn’t deserve you. He looked back into your eyes and you just playfully bit your lips and said, “So…what do you think?”

A thousands insults to himself came to him and in that instant, he could only think of pulling you in for a tight hug.

You ended up in his lap, hugging him back and could only laugh at his reaction. Your happiness to him was everything to him but truly he just felt like he did you wrong and knew nothing he could do could make him redeem himself.

The only thing he could say or feel about this was to tear up. He clung onto you and repeatedly apologize to you.

“I-I’m sorry…I’m sorry…I’m sorry…”

You stroked his hair to hear him and just told him it was fine, not understanding the true meaning behind his apology.

You thought he was simply referring to your pregnancy and just told him about your love for him.

“You don’t need to apologize for it…If anything it’s me for my attitude…Not you…Besides if you’re apologizing for making a baby with me…Don’t…I love you Daryl…That’s all that matters…I know we’ll make it through together…and that’s all because I love you…”

As he listened to you, he wanted to hit himself over and over for everything that he had done to you and realized nothing could be done to fix any of his acts.

The only thing he could think at that moment was to keep apologizing.

“I’m sorry….I’m sorry…I’m sorry Y/N…”

From his tone, you realized something was off and held him wondering if you should ask his meaning or simply brush it off for the night.

“You will fail this class if you don’t get your grade up, do you understand that?” My teacher asked me, and I rubbed my face, feeling a headache coming on.

“Yes, I understand. I’ll try harder.” I told him. He excused me and I traipsed through the hallway, running through the seemingly endless list of things I had to do. I had signed up for too many advanced classes and extra curriculars, and I was swamped.

I had to talk to two other teachers and catch up on a project, before I could finally go and meet my boyfriend, and hopefully get something to eat. Unfortunately, this did not go to plan. I knew as soon as I walked into the room that Jughead was angry with me. He saw me enter and was immediately on his feet and walking towards me, seething. I stopped in my tracks and desperately tried to rack my brains for whatever I had done.

“Where were you?” He demanded, and I floundered under his gaze, combing through my calendar in my mind to remember what I had missed. I stuttered, and he shook his head disbelievingly. “You don’t even remember what you missed, do you?” He asked. I opened my mouth, but the answer didn’t come to me.

“Um… Was it…” I started helplessly, but couldn’t finish. He looked away from me.

“You know what, it doesn’t matter.” He began to turn away from me, but I desperately ran around him, blocking his exit.

“No, Jughead, please… I’m sorry, I’ve been so caught up in my work. Just tell me what it was, please.” I begged him, holding my hands out to stop him from leaving. He sighed.

“My presentation. You were going to practice it with me before the lesson.”

My stomach dropped as I remembered. Jughead had been so nervous for it, and had only calmed down when I promised to rehearse it with him and help him. I closed my eyes, hitting myself for forgetting something so important to him.

“Jug, I am so-“

“I had to do it without you, Y/N. You promised you’d help me.” He said angrily.

“I know, I know I did. I had to talk to my teachers and I just got caught up.” I tried to explain myself.

‘Yeah you said.” He snapped. “Look, you’re my girlfriend, and I only trusted you to practice it with me. I needed you, and you weren’t there.” My breath caught in my throat at his words. He was right.

“Jughead…” I started, but didn’t know what to say.

“Whatever.” He muttered, pushing past me. “See you.” And with that he was gone. I stared at the space he had left, berating myself. I sighed, picking my bag up and walking to my next lesson. All through the class, I reprimanded myself over and over, wishing I had done today differently.

After school, I saw him leaving and wanted to catch up with him, but I had to go to a tutoring session. I watched helplessly as he walked away from me again, wondering how I would make it up to him.

I couldn’t stop thinking about how I could have done things differently. I could have set an alarm on my phone, or just been more organized, and Jughead and I would probably be together right now. The stress of the argument with Jughead and my workload, as well as my general anxiety built up when I got home, and I had to forget, so I took a bottle from my parent’s cupboard and started drinking. I didn’t know what it was, but it burnt my throat, made my eyes water, and worked quickly.

I grew flustered and warm, the alcohol and my thoughts overwhelming me, and so I walked into my dark backyard, letting the cold air float over me. I sat on the icy stone steps of my garden and tried to drink my reality away as the sky darkened. It didn’t take a lot of alcohol for me to start crying. I raised my hand to my forehead, clenching my teeth. How could I have done this to Jughead? He had been there for me so many times, and I let him down. I continued drinking, drowning in my guilt and misery. My self-deprecation reached a climax as I vividly replayed the day’s events in my head, Jughead’s words running over and over in my head.

You promised

I needed you and you weren’t there

You weren’t there

You weren’t there

You weren’t there

The late-night air grew freezing, but the hot liquid inside my body made me unaware of my numb appendages and chattering teeth. That was until my trembling fingers failed to properly grasp the neck of the bottle, and it slipped out of my grasp and onto the dark stone. It shattered violently and glass flew everywhere, startling me and snapping me out of my thoughts. I opened my mouth, my eyes wide at the amber liquid spreading out across the steps. I felt a sharp pain in my hand and looked down to find a small piece of glass caught in my skin, with a trail of blood leaking out. I pulled it out without thinking, ignoring the pain as I struggled to stand. I needed to talk to him. I needed to apologise. I jumped up and ran up the steps, stumbling when I reached the top. My head felt hollow and I think my hand was still bleeding but I couldn’t tell. Find Jughead.

I found myself at the drive in, where I knew he’d be. I blundered towards the door of the screening room. I was sober enough to know that I was drunk, but my thoughts weren’t clear.

I knocked anxiously on the door, leaning against the wall and feeling utterly desperate. After a few moments, the door swung open and there Jughead was, in all his glory. His hair was a mess and he was in sweatpants, his feet bare and his eyes tired. As I soon as I saw him, the floodgates opened. In my intoxicated state I began desperately rambling and crying at the same time.

“Jughead, oh my god, I had to find you, because- because I need to talk to you. I’m so sorry, I’m an idiot, and I hate myself and I don’t even know what time it is, but I messed up and I have to fix it.” Hot tears were streaming down my face, and I was struggling to take breaths between what I was saying. His eyes were wide, and he opened his mouth to say something but I couldn’t stop talking. “I was so, so stupid to forget about your thing, your presentation, I wish I hadn’t done that, and I just really need you to listen to me and I need you to forgive me. I’m an idiot, and I hate myself but I need you.” I stopped talking and continued crying, vaguely aware that most of what I had just said had been unintelligible.

“Okay, okay.” Jughead’s calm voice broke through my stupor as he grabbed my arms and pulled me inside. He pushed me gently onto his bed and kneeled in front of me. I tried to calm myself down but I couldn’t seem to slow my breathing.

“Are you drunk?” He asked me in a deliberate way, as if he already very well that I was. I didn’t answer but just stared at the floor, my breaths uneven. He sighed, standing up and moving around the small room. He came back with a glass of water and put it in my hand, making sure my fingers were tightly grasped around it before he let go.

“Hey, what happened to your hand?” He caught my hand gently and brought it towards him, studying the cut and frowning. He looked up at me, but I just shrugged helplessly, unable to answer him. He pressed his lips together and shook his head. “I’ll get something for that, just… drink this.” He sounded disappointed, and I was reminded of how much he was supposed to hate me at that moment. I threw back the water, downing it in the hopes that it would stop how I was feeling. I set the empty glass down and put my head in my hands, feeling sick and dizzy all of a sudden.

I couldn’t stop thinking about how I had let Jughead down, and tears began to slip down my face again, my whole body shaking. I heard him exhale as he sat down next to me on the single bed.

“Y/N.” I screwed my eyes shut, trying to shut him, and everything else I was feeling out. “Y/N.” He said louder, and I looked up at him, sniffing. He held up what looked like a bandage. “Give me your hand.”

I held my arm towards him and he delicately took my hand in his own. I watched him as he cleaned it, but he didn’t look up at me once, keeping his eyes on what he was doing. I didn’t even wince as he poured alcohol on it, the burning sensation nothing compared to the pain in my head. He finished, gently pressing a bandage onto the cut and making sure it was stuck down properly before finally looking up at me. I left my hand in his as he stared at me, his light eyes studying my face before meeting mine. I took a deep breath, determined to make him hear me this time.

“Jughead.” I tried to force the whirlwind of thoughts in my head into coherent sentences. “I am so sorry.” My lip shook and tears built in my eyes again. “I let you down, and I have no excuse. You… you needed me and I wasn’t there.” A tear slipped from my eye and rolled down my cheek. “I can’t tell you how sorry I am.” I looked him in the eye, trying to get across how serious I was. There was quiet for a moment as he looked at me, nodding his head ever so slightly. He was still holding my injured hand, and started lightly rubbing my knuckles with his thumb as he smiled tenderly at me.

“It’s okay.” He whispered, and I took a sharp breath in. I briefly wondered if I had misheard him.

“Are you sure?” I asked unsurely, my eyes wide. He chuckled quietly.

“I’m sure.” An emotional smile spread across my face at his words, and I gripped his hand tightly as tears continued to run down my face. I desperately attempted to wipe them away with my other hand, but to no avail. He shook his head at me, smiling.

“Come here.” He murmured, moving his hand from mine to reach for me. He leaned in and pressed his lips against mine, his hand on the back of my neck. I put my hands on his chest and relished the feeling of being close to him. When we separated, I leant into him automatically and he put his arm around me. He shifted his body along the small bed, leaning back and bringing me with him so we were lying down, me against his chest. We lay silently as I listened to his heartbeat and tried to calm myself down. He began softly playing with my fingers, being careful to avoid my wound.

“What did you do to yourself, hm?” His lips ghosted my forehead as he whispered the question to himself. “I never wanted this.” I closed my eyes.

“I know. I’m sorry.” His chest vibrated underneath me slightly as he laughed softly, and it brought an instinctive sleepy smile to my face.

“I think you’ve said that enough for one night.” My face was pressed against his body in the quiet room, and I felt my senses numb as my head grew heavy and my breathing slowed. He might’ve said something else after that, but I wouldn’t have known, as I slipped into a drunken, emotionally-exhausted sleep. I knew I would feel like death in the morning, but it didn’t matter. I had him, and I wasn’t going to let him go again.

Rhys is so new—new in money, new in power, new in body that it makes Jack’s breath short in his throat.

Jack, who has cut his teeth on some many men, old and blubbery and armed only with years of loyalty and manipulation to innervate arthritic muscles usually clenched around pen or pipe rather than gun or knife—Jack who has killed more than his far share of arrogant upstarts as superficially fresh-faced as Rhys—sees something more that he hasn’t seen in a long time in the young omega.

And it’s exhilarating to watch.

It’s been only a few scant months since Rhys’ father, Jack’s former boss, met his end in a busy train station with hundreds of witnesses but somehow, no leads. Rhys could have very easily been swept under the carpet of the ensuing power struggle, or killed, or worse considering his omega status, if not for Jack and his pistol stepping in the path of the bullets fixed on the back of Rhys’ head.

“If you don’t step up, зайчик, they’re going to kill you.” Jack had murmured, his hand heavy on the back of Rhys’ neck one night in the boy’s new office. The carpet is mustard yellow and stained with old spots of blood, the desk cleared of any personal affects, blank and lacquered and shining in the lamplight. Jack had felt the moment that the trembling of the boy in his too big suit and too big chair had stiffened, resolve hard as chips of ice in Rhys’ eyes as the omega looked up at him.

“All right. Let them come.”

Room - [Monsta X] Kihyun!Boyfie Au

“Come out for awhile, let’s talk.” - Kihyun.

You tucked yourself tighter in your jacket and exhaled when you saw his brownish hair shine beneath the street lamp by the narrow steps where your house were.

“What is so important that can’t wait til morning.” You made it clear to frown and because of it, Kihyun felt a sting in his heart. The cold night air certainly didn’t help much.

“Be honest with me, what’s your relationship with Minhyuk.” His voice was ambigous although the intentions were clear. He made the conversation into an interogation therefore your red lights lit up in your head. But your hasty answers didn’t bring the warmth Kihyun was seeking.

In fact, it boiled him much further.

Imagine Chris stealing your favorite sweater.

A/N: Fluffer-nutter. That’s a cookie, right? Anyway, point is that this is so fluffy and cute that it’s going to warm your romantic heart and make you smile like a delicious cookie would.

You were searching through your wardrobe for your favorite gray sweater when you heard your laptop ring. You glanced over your shoulder and saw Chris’ FaceTime call and walked over to pick up before returning to the closet. It’d been weeks since you last saw it and you had no idea where you put it. You didn’t even want to wear it, you were just the kind of person who couldn’t let things go until you had a resolution. You blamed your mom for that trait because she was the same; the amount of times she’d turned the house upside down for an item she suddenly thought of but had no use for was insane.

“Morning, ba-” He stopped when he realized he couldn’t see you. “Where are you?” He chuckled and you poked your head out, giving him a wave before returning to your search. “Oh hey,” he smiled. “What are you looking for?” He laughed when he saw something fly out of the closet and land on the floor.

“My gray sweater,” you told him and Chris pressed his lips together, glancing over his shoulder at said sweater which was lying on his hotel room bed. “I don’t know where I put it and I’m trying to find it. It’s weird, it’s been weeks since I last saw it.” You decided to put a pause on the search so you could talk to Chris; you walked over to your laptop and plopped yourself on the bed in front of it. “I think the last time I wore it was at brunch with you before you left for LA, right?”

“Ooo…” His fingers played with his lips as he tried to think. “Um.” He pursed his lips, looking up at the ceiling as he continued to ponder. “I don’t know, I don’t really remember.” Your eyes narrowed at his strange behavior, but you said nothing. “Why do you need it? You’ve got a billion other sweaters in your wardrobe, just wear one of those.”

“I like my gray one.”

“I know,” he smiled, “it’s your favorite.”

It was because it was your favorite that Chris took it. He’d been out in LA for a few weeks now, and soon he’d have to leave for Vancouver to film ‘Avengers: Infinity War’. He didn’t know when he would see you next which was why he took- a few was an understatement- of your favorite items with him when he saw you last. Items included: your gray sweater, your favorite baseball cap, your most used perfume, your red knit scarf, your iPod with your favorite albums, your cat plush cushion, your mini Polaroid photo album, and your copy of your favorite book. He took all that among other things; some you knew about and some you didn’t- like your gray sweater. He probably should’ve told you he was taking it to save you the trouble of looking, but he wasn’t going to now that you’d already search half the house. He thought about it, then decided to shoot you a text later so he didn’t have to face your wrath over FaceTime.

“It’s fine, I’ll find it later.” You said and Chris huffed with relief. “Let’s talk about you, how’s things in LA? You and Mckenna look like you’re having a lot of fun.” You said, then smiled when you saw him smile at the sound of Mckenna’s name; he loved the kid as much as he loved his own niece. “I see you finally decided to show off your amazing tap skills to the world.”

“Yeah,” he couldn’t help his grin, “I just couldn’t say no to the kid.” He chuckled and you did the same, shaking your head. “Just so you know, you are definitely going to be playing bad cop when we have our own kids. I can assure you right now that our little one is going to have me wrapped around his or her finger,” he told you, laughing.

“Tell me something I don’t know,” you bit playfully. “And I’m sorry, our little one?” You quizzed and he nodded. “As in singular?” He nodded again and you narrowed your eyes with a confused smile on your face, “I thought you’ve always wanted a big family.”

“Yeah, I do,” he nodded, biting back his growing smile. “But I don’t know, I don’t want to scare you away considering I haven’t even put a ring on your finger yet.” You laughed like it was even a possibility you’d run from someone as perfect as Chris. “I know you’re not really a kid person, so- I thought I’d start slow by talking about having just one kid and see what your reaction is. So far,” he winked with a click of his tongue, “so good.”

“I already told you I’d have kids for you, Chris,” you reminded him and he nodded. “Not an unreasonable amount, but I’m more than happy to have a big family with you.” You said and he smiled. “You’re going to be an amazing dad, I can’t deprive you or any child from that. Plus- it’ll be different when the child’s mine,” you said then winced as you added, “I think.”

“It will,” he chuckled, nodding. “Don’t you worry.”

“I won’t, because you haven’t put a ring on my finger yet,” you held up your left hand and wiggled your ring finger at him; he chuckled in response. “I’m still young, but you’re not getting any younger. If you want kids, marry me, because we’re not having a child out of wedlock.”

“I know,” he chuckled. “Relax, okay? I’m working on it.”

“Tick tock, Chris,” you teased, tapping your watch-less wrist.

He dropped his gaze, laughing, which lowered his head enough to give you a view of his bed. Your eyes narrowed when you spotted your sweater lying on his bed. You scoffed, shaking your head in utter disbelief. You were very sure it was your sweater; you could recognize that gray heap anywhere considering it was your favorite gray heap. You crossed your arms over your chest as Chris looked up to meet your gaze. You shook your head at him with pursed lips and he raised an eyebrow at you. It was only when your eyes darted behind him that he realized you’d found out where your favorite gray sweater was.

“I see you found my favorite sweater,” you said and he winced. “Seriously?” You chuckled at his expression. “Are you kidding me? You took that too?” He nodded with pursed lips. “Chris! Why don’t you just pack me in your fucking luggage?”

“Believe me,” he laughed, “I would if I could.” You laughed harder at that because you knew that was one hundred percent true. “I’m sorry, I just- I need your things to make myself feel more at home.” You rolled your eyes. “You know we wouldn’t have this problem if you’d just left some of your things in the LA home, but no- you had to move it all to Boston.”

“You told me to!” You protested, laughing; Chris cracked a smile. “You’re the one who told me to move everything to Boston because you said and I quote, 'Boston’s going to be our home base when we get married. LA’s just a work space, so don’t worry about leaving your things here.’ You said that, did you not?”

“I did,” he answered monotonously.

“And now it’s my fault my things aren’t there?”

“Yes,” he nodded and you scoffed, chuckling. “It’s fine, I’ll just steal whatever I need.” He leaned back in his chair to reach for your sweater and pulled it off the bed in one swift movement, pressing it to his nose as he turned back to you. “Yup, it smells like you. Like if you were standing right in front of me,” he mumbled, breathing the perfume he’d spray on the soft material in.

“You could’ve had the same effect by spraying my perfume around the room, or on one of your own shirts, or your skin. I don’t see why you had to steal my sweater, and my favorite one too.” He just grinned cheekily, making you roll your eyes. “Oh my God,” you chuckled, “you’re such a dork.”

“That’s why you love me,” he kissed the air in front of him.

“Well, I’m glad I took this then.” You got off the bed to pick up Chris’ NASA hat that you’d taken out of his backpack before he left for the airport. He made his jaw drop as he tried not to smile; he’d saw you take it out of his bag and didn’t stop you because he wanted you to have it while he was gone. “Among other things, but hey, I won’t tell you what they are so you can spend weeks looking for said items.” You teased as you tugged the hat off, grinning the same cheeky grin. “Let’s see how you like it, Captain.”

“Well you know me, baby,” he winked. “I love games.”

heres smth i hope you like it! night swimming in some hot ponds or hot springs w the headlights of an expensive car and the full moon but its still kinda dark, nd after, turns out magnus brought a blanket and coat for alec and alec brought a bottle of liquor for magnus (and like a thermos with wine for himself idk maybe he's into beer now )

man what is this

the city was laid out like a glittering blanket somewhere off beyond cliff edges, a warm wind blowing through, the moon this perfect coin tucked behind grey clouds in a night sky knitted with stars. the water was steaming, little tendrils of it caught in the headlights as magnus stepped down into the water, sinking lower and turning, moonlight catching on the beautiful planes of his chest. and the way he was staring at alec lit him up like fireworks. that playful smile on his lips, dark eyes caught at the edges by light reflecting off the water as his voice echoed towards him.

“come here.” that deep sound left alec grinning as he obliged, stepping down into the water. before he got too close magnus dipped under and when he resurfaced it was dripping, droplets hanging on his skin as he dragged his fingers back through his hair. alec’s breath got trapped in the cage of his ribs, his breathing labored as he pressed close to cup magnus’s face and kiss him, desperate for a taste of his smile.

his lips were soft, as warm as the light tendrils of steam and the same amount of pressure as those fingers pressing into alec’s stomach. then magnus’s laughter echoed into his mouth right before he pulled away, tugging alec into the deeper water. and god the water was warm when alec ducked under it. it felt like it was wrapping him up, pressing against him, just was warm as that kiss had been. they swam deep, coming up for air together and treading water and talking, their voices echoing out into the night, all mixed in with frog calls and the distant sounds of owls.

later when they stepped out of the steam magnus’s fingers were threaded between alec’s as he pulled him close. it took a matter of seconds before the warmth was gone, leaving alec’s skin susceptible to the bite of the chilly late night air. magnus pulled him in close, to all of that skin that radiate so much warmth and soon enough they were back in the car, dried off and left in a space that was the same but so damn different. alec’s mouth tasted like wine and magnus’s tongue was thick with whiskey and the cold was gone, replaced by a burning warmth lost in panted breath as alec pulled magnus on top of him.

they needed to get back at some point, but that didn’t matter. nothing mattered save for magnus’s fingers sinking into alec’s skin as magnus settled between his legs. nothing mattered save for the taste of magnus’s tongue as he kissed him deep enough that the world was a hazy blur, the windows fogging up as alec’s fingers pressed into magnus’s shoulders.

the night wrapped around them and this was the only thing that mattered.

Mischievous Scamander Men

Newt Scamander x Reader

Warnings: none

Author’s Note: I have just recently gotten obsessed with Fantastic Beasts, especially Newt. But, I really like this one and I hope you do too

*********************************************

You put your hat over your hair before turning to your 4 year old son and kneeling to be eye to eye with him. “Alright, do you remember mommy’s rules for going into the case with daddy?” You ask him, eyebrow raised. The boy smiles widely, revealing his missing front teeth, “Uh huh! Ask daddy before going anywhere, be nice to all the creatures, and don’t pet no occamys.”

Smiling at your son, you kiss his forehead and stand up to talk to Newt. Looking for any way to calm your nerves, you begin readjusting his clothes, smoothing his hair here, straightening his bow tie there, “Now, Newt, please remember, don’t let him near the erumpet musk, he thinks the reaction way too funny and will not hesitate to douse himself with it. Oh, and please call me if you need anything. And he’s just getting over than awful cold, remember, so if he gets tired and whiny, just call me. And-”

Newt grabs your busy hands in his, ceasing your movement, “Darling,” He says softly, with a chuckle, causing your eyes to meet his, “We will be fine. I’ve made my living as a caretaker. Everything will be fine.” You smile nervously, “I know, I’m just nervous. My first day at a no-maj job! I’m just - I’m just a bit nervous is all.” Your husband rolls his eyes at you playfully, “You women and your nerves. I swear, you are the one beast I will never be able to truly decipher.” He says pulling you across your front room to the door.

Before leaving, you place a kiss to his lips, “You underestimate yourself, Mr. Scamander. Now please, promise me you’ll call if you need anything?” Kissing you once more, Newt gently pushes you out of the door, “I promise, but it won’t be necessary. Don’t be late now.” You smile nervously again and wave to your son, “Bye, honey. Mommy will be back soon, okay? Have fun with daddy!” Your son giggles in excitement at the reminder of going into the case for the first time, “Bye momma! Have a good job!”

Once you’ve driven out of sight, Newt closes the door and picks up your son, “Alright, here we go. Now it’s just me and you. Are you ready to see our creatures?” The boy cheers, his fists both in the air, “Yay!” Chuckling at his reaction, Newt carries him down into the briefcase, placing his feet on the ground once they’re fully submerged in the case. Guiding the young boy to the door by his hand, Newt holds his free hand on the door, “You want to give me a hand with the door? We can open it together.”

The boy places his small hand on the door, “One, two, three!” He counts down before pushing as hard as he can. As soon as the door swings open, his jaw drops, “Daddy, look at all uh our creatures!” He says excitedly, holding his father’s hand with both of his. Newt smiles at your son’s enthusiasm and lifts the boy into his arms once more so he doesn’t get too far gone on his first exploration of the world inside the case.

“Would you like to play with the mooncalves while I go and get the food for the rest of the creatures? Then we can feed them together. How about that?” Newt asks your son, moving towards the area before even getting an answer, knowing the boy’s eyes will grow in wonder and awe as soon as he sees the shy creatures anyway. Your son giggles in excitement as soon as he hears anything about being able to play with some of the creatures by himself.

Walking over to the dark area, Newt sets your son down, the mooncalves all stepping out to inspect the new addition to their habitat. Smiling as he watched your boy - quite small for his age, the two of you are always worried - Newt felt free to go grab the feed with your son squealing and running around with the sweet creatures.

Taking off his bow tie and rolling up his shirt sleeves, Newt got to business chopping up meat and putting feed into their respective buckets. Newt was so busy that he didn’t even notice your son in the office-like area, playing with the erumpet musk. He heard you say that he wasn’t allowed to go anywhere near it, but he couldn’t help himself. Muffling his giggles, the boy spills as much of the formula on himself as he can without the erumpet leaving it’s habitat and following the scent to his father’s work space.

As soon as the mischievous boy makes his way to the dry area, you feel it in your chest. You don’t feel what’s happening precisely, but you just get this fuzzy feeling in your stomach. You want nothing more than to be able to disapparate and get home to your baby and your husband, but Newt said he’d call if he needed you and you’re in the middle of a conversation with your boss. Taking a deep breath, you imagine Newt beside you, keeping you calm and telling you everything is okay and the feeling in your stomach lessens.

Meanwhile, Newt’s eyes are about to bulge out of his head when he gets back to the mooncalves and sees your son nowhere to be found. Newt doesn’t want to bother you on your first day at the job, and he hasn’t even looked around yet, so he takes a deep breath and imagines you smiling while kissing his lightly and telling him everything is just fine.

As his heartbeat slows, Newt recognizes the cheering of the erumpet. “Oh dear,” He says to himself when he sees the beast and his son playing a terrifying game of tag. “Your mother is going to kill me!” Newt says as he dashes past the squealing creature and towards his son. As soon as he comes into contact with the young boy, they disapparate, landing back in the mooncalf habitat.

Newt runs his hands over your sons arms, “You didn’t hurt yourself climbing to get that musk did you?” The boy - smiling widely as his heart pounds from the running - shakes his head. “I like that one daddy! I think she liked me too.” Seeing that your son is alright, Newt chuckles, what he doesn’t notice is that you’ve apparated into the case and have your eye on both of the mischievous Scamander men. “Yes, well, you made sure of that didn’t you?” Newt says, laughing a little harder at your sons disheveled appearance.

“Now, even though we’ve had fun with the erumpet, you can’t tell your mother about it. She would be very upset.” Your husband says, his face serious. Walking up to the two, your jaw drops, “Why you sneaky little devil, you!” Newt startles a little as he turns to find you, eyebrows raised in disbelief. Feigning innocence, Newt smiles widely, “Hello my love, what are you doing home so early?” Shaking your head fondly, you plant a kiss onto Newt’s lips before lifting your son and kissing his dirt covered face, “You don’t fool me Mr. Scamander. Not either one of you.”

Knowing he’s been caught, Newt smiles sheepishly, “It could never hurt to try, I suppose.” He says, your son laughing and kissing your cheek.

They say not to bring home girls with hollow backs, boys with wings under their skin. But this is neither of our homes, and somehow I think that protects us both. On his land, I don’t think he would dare to touch me.  When the night began to grey I heard the first peals of the bell and then the cawing of the crows. I curled my face in to his shoulder and breathed him in, almost surprised at how solid and present he still was. Wood smoke pine maple sweat sweet sky wine and something animal and alive. He didn’t smell like he’d be gone in a few hours, but fairy gold never does for all that it’s made in their image. Though perhaps made in mine too, being gone just as soon, and his sort always did love shiny things. For a moment, his face winks out in to the darkness, but when I look back up from his shoulder it is there again, gently blowing smoke in his sleep.  With the next ringing the crows again threatened to drag the sky in to daylight but darkness still held our corner of the room. Light enough though that for a moment I was scared to turn around, that though I could newly see, I would not find him laying against my back where I’d remembered him, or that he would be wearing a different skin. A deep inhale behind me, an exhale through the nose that blows cool air between my shoulder blades, where he had asked me to press against on his own back a few hours before (“a thumb, or your chin”), a curious feeling of wings under skin when I did so. I had rested my face there, wrapped my arm around and nearly scorched my fingers when they rested above his heart. I find myself surprised at the lack of fire on his breath now, though his chest still heats the bed on its own. When I wake in a few hours the muscles between my own shoulder blades will be unusually tight, but for now I let the steady puffs of air pull me back to sleep. I do not turn to look.  He was up before the third chime, and suddenly – no more space between us, no careful blanket distance or borderlands. He wrapped around me less like a man than a large cat, a dragon curled round its hoard. There was the sense beyond what I could touch, of too much body and too many limbs, collapsing in to materialization upon contact, a flock a birds landing on me relentlessly one after another, shockingly heavy in their multitude. And then as quick, untangled and up, putting on boots heavier than they should need to be and gathering bits of himself from around the room.  As he opened the front door, I heard the ring of the third bells, but now, no crows cawing. They wait. When the door closed behind him, a sunbeam filled the space he left, illuminating the yellow stairs with his afterimage, the radiance of transformation. From outside, I heard something like a purr, footsteps rumbling and rolling, and a great rustling, as though a tree had unfurled all its leaves at once with the snap of a lady’s fan, as though they had browned and dropped crackling against each other in the next breath, as though a great many wings were headed skyward and south, away from the still-warm bed and me in it. They say not to go home with girls with hollow backs, boys with wings under their skin. I wonder if a kiss can be somewhat like a bite of food, a taste of something irrevocable, a contract signed on contact. I wouldn’t know. We don’t kiss. Just hold each other or more often a careful space between. We chart a different elsewhere in this no mans land between bodies. Although somewhere the sap boils in to syrup and perhaps there will come a time when the crows demand their gold paid in truths…here, now, this, is enough.  With the third set of bells he was gone, and a little later so too was I.

a kiss to the knuckles for jyn/cassian? :)

Cassian goes to the fresher as soon as he gets a chance.

It’s not as soon as he gets back to the ship. Back at the ship, it’s clear that they are not yet the well-oiled machine Cassian thinks they one day might be. Kay and Jyn are bickering about her supply run, and Cassian needs to mediate that, then Bodhi needs to confirm their flight plan because he’s gotten news of Empire checkpoints on some of the hyperspace lanes, and Baze’s latest experiment with amping up his gun has caused what Chirrut described as ‘a minor explosion’ so he needs to make sure they’ll still get into the air, and there’s a quick report of a successful mission to make back to headquarters.

Once they’re in the air, and Bodhi’s flight plan is set and Kay’s flying co-pilot and Jyn, Chirrut, and Baze are looking at the gun to see what might have gone wrong, Cassian slips away.

He makes it to the ‘fresher, closes the door, and grips the edges of the sink, hard. Finally, here–he lets his head drop, lets himself take a long, rasping breath. Closes his eyes so that he doesn’t have to see his fists, what they look like.

The Best Night Ever (and Other Cliched Titles)

So @vodka-aunt-coran wrote this post and I had to write it (I changed it just a little, I hope that’s okay)

Not really any shipping, but if you want to read it that way you could. Under a cut for length.

“Who decided that holding a prom at the Garrison was a good idea?” Keith wondered, nodding to the flyer on the wall behind their table. “Like…a bunch of military teenagers trying to dance? Who came up with that?”

“And where did we get the funding?” Hunk demanded. “They can’t even give us air conditioning half the year, but they can somehow manage to afford one of the fanciest events that most schools ever have?”

Lance snorted, poking at what might have been Jell-O and watching it jiggle under his spoon. “Bet they won’t even get a DJ. It’ll just be Iverson in shades.”

Keith and Hunk snorted and resumed their eating, leaving Lance to glance over at Pidge, who was being suspiciously quiet. “Pidge? What’s up? This seems like the exact thing you’d be making fun of with us.”

Pidge glanced up from her sandwich (at least, it resembled a sandwich). “Hmm? Oh. Sorry. Must have zoned out. Yeah, a prom does seem…really stupid.”

Hunk and Keith instantly looked up at her, both of them with silverware halfway to their mouths. Ever since returning from space, the group had been very in sync with one another, often being praised as the best functioning team at the academy, so they could tell when something was going on with each other. “What’s wrong?” Hunk asked.

Pidge hesitated, poking at her Jell-O with her finger and frowning. “I mean…it’s your guys’ last year here. I’d think you would want to go to something like this.”

Lance rolled his eyes. “No way. We’ve already been to space. I don’t think anything titled “Greatest Night Ever” could top that.”

Hunk and Keith murmured their agreement, still watching Pidge, and the girl managed a smile. “You’re probably not wrong,” she admitted with a chuckle.

There was a long pause, and then Pidge stood up so quickly that she knocked her elbow into Lance. “I forgot to finish the homework for Peterson’s class. I’ll see you guys later.”

She picked up her tray and bolted, saluting the guard on the way out and leaving the three sitting with their jaws dropped. “What was that about?” Keith wondered.

“We didn’t have homework for Peterson last night,” Hunk noted.

Lance, rubbing his arm with a frown, glanced to the prom flyer and then back to where Pidge had left. “Something’s wrong,” he murmured. “Hunk?”

“I’m on it.”

~~~~~
“Okay, so I read Pidge’s diary-”
“You have got to stop doing that.”
“-AND she really wants to go to this prom. Fancy dress, shoes, hair, and everything.”
Lance and Keith glanced at one another and then leaned forwards on Lance’s bed in matching poses, legs criss crossed and elbows on their knees. “She huh?” they chorused.
A/N: This is my entry for @amarvelouswritings 700 followers writing challenge.  I hope you like it sweetie xxx
Walking down 29th and Park with his baseball cap pulled down and his collar pulled up against the wind Steve was busy trying to clear his head when something made him stop.  It was possible that he had seen you out of the corner of his eye, perhaps he had caught the sound of your laughter on the breeze, whatever it was he found himself looking across the street and felt his heart stop.  It had been a month since he had last seen you and the memory of that last meeting had haunted him ever since.  His whole body tensed as he saw your arm linked with the tall, dark, handsome man as he leaned into say something and your face broke into such a bright smile it was if the grey day just melted away and when you laughed Steve’s heart ached.  He used to make you laugh but as he watched you he noticed that you looked happy, truly happy, and it was as if a knife was being twisted in his gut.  That smile that he had always felt was reserved for him was now being levelled at someone else and if he was being honest your smile was wider than he had ever seen.  Steve remained frozen, watching you as your mystery man opened the door of the bar for you and followed you in.  He didn’t even notice that it had started to rain as the people around him picked up their pace to get to their various destinations as if nothing had happened, totally oblivious to the man whose heart had just shattered into a million pieces.
Gaara when his s/o is jealous of his student, Matsuri
Woah, so this took me a while?? I don’t know why, but I struggled with it a little bit. I hope I didn’t get too OOC because I tend to do that when I “force” myself to write. Anyway, I loved the idea, just couldn’t make the most of it. I hope you still enjoy it, and thanks for being so patient!
Some extra love to my beta-reader @lilysflowershop for checking this scenario even though she is sick! ❤ Take care of yourself, dear!
Gaara’s reaction to his s/o being jealous of his student, Matsuri.
You knew Gaara loved you. You knew he was faithful, and that he didn’t want anyone else in his life beside you. He told you, and he showed you. You really shouldn’t feel this way. You shouldn’t be jealous.
But you couldn’t help it. Matsuri and Gaara were close, naturally. You had been close to your sensei, too. But, you hadn’t looked at your sensei the way Matsuri did. Her eyes sparkled with every word and advice Gaara gave her, and like an eager puppy, she obeyed him. And after watching this go on for a few weeks, you became frustrated. With Matsuri, with Gaara, and with yourself. Because Gaara was still just as loving to you, even if he still kept your relationship as private as possible. Did you really have a reason to be jealous when Gaara was this good to you?
But maybe that was why you were so upset about it. You understood that Gaara didn’t like PDA. You understood that he was in a position where he couldn’t be all lovey dovey with you all the time. You weren’t mad because he couldn’t show you affection in public. You were mad because he could show her affection.
Simple things like a hand on her head or shoulder began to be something you dreaded. And when the young girl smiled brightly and leaned in ever so slightly, you couldn’t help but be resentful.
And of course, Gaara picked up on it almost as quickly as you yourself did. He knew you in and out, and he noticed when you began to distance yourself. He had loved how you took the time out of your day to watch him train, especially with his student. It was the only way to see you, after all, when he was busy like this.
Gaara wanted to figure out what was wrong, and quickly, too - because just as it was to you, this relationship was everything to him. He couldn’t lose you. He really didn’t like not reacting to you being upset. But it took him a while to figure out exactly what was wrong.
Jealousy was never a big part of your relationship. Sure, Gaara made sure that any shady people kept their distance from you by sending them a warning glare, and you moved a little closer to Gaara when others swooned over him. But it had never been a big problem. So he didn’t even consider it at first.
It wasn’t until Matsuri practically invited herself in for dinner one night, that he finally realized what was bothering you.
He came home, his student right beside him as she chatted away. He listened, nodded now and then, but was more focused on the prospect of finally seeing you again. You hadn’t joined them for training for three days, and surprisingly when Gaara came home late, you were already in bed - something you had never really done before. Usually you had waited for him.
Tonight he was home as early as he could to catch you before you’d go to sleep. But in exchange for cancelling training, Matsuri had gotten him into promising that she could have dinner with him.
Gaara didn’t see a problem with that. You did, though.
You were sitting at the dining table when Gaara came home, but the bright, surprised smile you gave him vanished when Matsuri came into the room as well.
“Hello, (Y/N)-san.” She said with a grin on her face. “Gaara-sensei and I are having dinner together.”
Gaara could clearly see you bite your lip to swallow down the emotions he hadn’t understood until this very moment.
“Well, I’d hate to interrupt.” You said sharply, stood up and turned, leaving a delighted Matsuri and a very shocked Gaara behind, who looked back and forth between his student and his retreating significant other, his eyes wide in realization.
And thank God, Gaara followed you.
Calling out your name, he rushed after you, making it to your bedroom before you had the chance to slam the door shut.
“What are you doing here, you’re having a date.” You stated as Gaara grabbed your arm.
“Is that why you’ve been avoiding me? Why you’re not coming to the training grounds anymore?”
“Clearly, there was no need for me to be there.”
You couldn’t help but sound bitter and upset. Gaara pulled you a little closer, hurt and anxious because of how distant you sounded. Doubts swarmed his head. Were you going to leave him? Did you hate him? He rationally knew that there wasn’t a big chance of you actually leaving him, but he was always anxious about not being good enough for you.
Please, please don’t leave….
“Nonsense.” He stated firmly. “I missed you. I thought you were mad at me, so I tried to give you some space, but-”
“Please, just leave me alone for a moment. I need to calm down before we can talk about this, Gaara.” You told him, and Gaara froze.
“Okay…” He said slowly. “I’ll send Matsuri home and wait for you in the kitchen, alright?”
You simply nodded, your arms crossed in front of your chest. You heard how Gaara took a deep breath, but then he did as he’d said and quietly shuffled out of the room. You could hear how he talked to his student, and even though you couldn’t make out any words, you could hear that she was upset. But finally, you could hear the door open and close again.
With a deep sigh you sat down on the bed, staring down at the dark red covers.
You didn’t know how long you sat there, just calming down your heart and thoughts. But you didn’t hear anything from Gaara in this time. It almost made you worry that he had left with Matsuri, but you know that was just your jealousy getting the better of you again. He did care about you, didn’t he? He had shown again how much he loved you. You stood up quietly. You knew you couldn’t just avoid the topic. And you and Gaara both had to be adults for this to be solved.
So you quietly made your way to the kitchen, your heart heavy in your chest. And like he had promised, Gaara was sitting in the kitchen, a pot of tea and two cups on the table in front of him. As soon as you entered, his head shot up, and his clear eyes stared at you.
There was an awkward silence, something the two of you weren’t used to anymore. Usually, you didn’t need to speak. But know, neither of you knew what to say. Finally, Gaara spoke up.
“I didn’t realize you were this upset. I… apologize.”
Nodding quietly, you sat down in front of him, and he quickly moved to give both of you some tea. You were grateful that he took this seriously, but it still made you a little self conscious. Maybe you were really just too sensitive.
“I don’t want you to stop training her.” You quickly said, and Gaara looked over, studying you quietly. You knew he was waiting for you to explain yourself, now that you had started.
“I know it’s important for the both of you. But… the looks she gives you sometimes bother me. And you never say anything about it.
Gaara was quiet for another few seconds, making sure you were finished, before he gently took your hand.
“That’s because I don’t take it seriously. I have you. Why would I want her? She doesn’t have anything on you, and she’s still a child.”
He sounded so firm and convinced, and it made you shift in your seat. When he said it like this, your jealousy really seemed a little ridiculous.
“But if it bothers you…” Gaara went on, giving you an insecure smile. “Then I’ll tell her from now on. I’d much rather have her be mad at me than you.”
“You don’t think I’m childish?” You asked quietly, feeling a little ashamed of how little trust you had put in him. But Gaara just smiled gently, and shook his head.
“No. Your feelings are your feelings, and they’re valid. A lesson we both still have to learn, I think.”
You were quiet for a bit, and you looked down at your joined hands. Gaara’s thumb was gently stroking over the back of your hand, soothing your nerves.
“Why don’t we make some dinner and talk? We haven’t done that in a while. I’m sure I can take one day off. I want to…” He said, and you could see a blush on his face. Voicing his feelings was still hard for him. “I want to spend time with you again. Remind you that… I love you.”
“If you could, I’d appreciate that…” You agreed sheepishly, squeezing his hand. Gaara smiled softly at you, his cheeks still bright red.
“So we’re good?”
“Yes. I think we are. I’m sorry, Gaara, and… Thank you.”
Leaning over he kissed you, before pulling you up and into his arms.
“I love you. Let’s have dinner.”
The second you walk through the door, Sungjae practically launches on top of you, never happier than to see your face. Your two siblings look cleaner than you’ve ever seen them, Sohyun’s hair tight in braids and Sungjae’s own hair swept to the side in the style of the 1940’s. Aunt Eunhye is happy to see you back too but doesn’t waste any time to scold your messy attire.
But as you look around the apartment, everything is well kept and spotless. Most importantly, your siblings have been well fed, are happy and completely safe.
For the next week, you find yourself with less responsibilities and hardships, despite your aunt nagging you to do more chores. Sometimes you even become shocked at how little you have to do or worry about; if your siblings ate or not, how much you had to spend on groceries and what you were going to make - the list was endless but at the same time all but disappeared. ———————————–
You sighed, throwing your pen down on your desk as you finished writing up the last of the reports. You had been part of the BAU team since being recruited last year. You had been the second youngest team member ever to join the team - the first obviously being Spencer.
Spencer was still quite a few years older than you though so you were subjected to Morgan’s teasing - your nicknames often deriving from the fact that you were the “baby of the team”. The team had become like your family although your feelings for Spencer weren’t exactly what you would call familial.
You had had feelings for the awkward profiler since you had met him though you pushed them down knowing that fraternising within work was frowned upon. And anyway, Spencer most likely viewed you as a sister figure because of the age gap.
You ran a hand through your (Y/H/C) hair, leaning back in your seat. The rest of the team had stayed behind too. Hotch and Rossi were busy discussing issues in Hotch’s office. JJ, Emily, Morgan and Garcia chatted away over at the coffee machine and Spencer busied himself with his book opposite you.
Hearing your sigh, he looked up concern flooding his face. “You okay, (Y/N)?”
You nodded. “Yeah, it’s just being cooped up, you know?”
Emily came up behind you, the others following with their coffees. “Why don’t we go then? We never had a proper celebration when you got recruited because it was just case after case but we could do it now. It’s only 9:30pm.”
“ Ooh, I like the idea of that. Can we do that?” Garcia started getting excited.
“I’m up for it. I’ll just tell Will I’ll be home a little later.” JJ shrugged.
“Oh, you know I’m definitely up for it.” Morgan laughed. “Pretty Boy, you coming?”
Spencer opened his mouth and you knew by the way his face was contorting that he was going to decline.
“Please, Spence?” You gave him you best puppy dog eyes and prayed he’d say yes. You liked being around him (in the least creepiest way possible).
Spencer looked at you, biting his lip as he thought over his decision. He nodded, giving you a small smile. “Okay.”
“Great! I’ll go tell Hotch and Rossi.” Emily walked off to the unit chief’s office.
You and the team had been in the club for a few hours and you were beginning to feel faint from the amount of people around you.
Morgan was strutting his stuff on the dance floor with two random girls while Garcia watched on. Emily and JJ were in deep conversation about what man Emily should have in her life with Spencer sat between them awkwardly, while Hotch and Rossi chatted over at the bar.
You left the table abruptly and made your way through the crowd to find the door. You hastenedly opened it, needing some fresh air. You bent over, head between your knees as you tried to calm down from what you now discovered was an anxiety attack.
“Are you okay?”
You jumped at the sound of someone behind you before letting out a breath. “Christ, Spence. Don’t do that.”
“I’m sorry, it’s just- I saw you leave and wanted to make sure you were okay.” He explained.
You sighed. “Yeah, yeah I’m fine. A mini anxiety attack. I didn’t realise there’d be some many people just crowded into that small space, heh.” You sank down the wall to sit on the pavement.
Spencer took a seat next to you. “You know, Morgan was teasing me-”
“Don’t let him get to you, Spence. He means well.”
“No, it’s not that. He was teasing me about you.” He swallowed, keeping his eyes on his Converse sneakers.
“Me? Why would Derek tease you about me?” You asked him, confused.
Sure, Morgan had often teased you about Spencer because you were the closest to his age but he didn’t know that you actually liked your colleague, did he? If he knew and told Spencer about your feelings, you didn’t know how you’d live it down. The man viewed you as a sister, for crying out loud.
“Because… He told me to get a move on. That I had to tell you.”
“Had to tell me what?”
“Look (Y/N), I - I realise that there’s an age gap and we’re colleagues and you most likely don’t see me as anything other than that but I like you. I always have.” Spencer admitted.
Your heart leapt in your chest as he continued.
“I’ve honestly never felt like this towards anyone since Maeve and I’ve probably put my foot in my mouth by bombarding you with my confession but I needed to-”
“Just shut up and kiss me already.” You interrupted him.
Spencer looked up at you, his face unreadable before happiness took over his face as he leaned forward to cup your cheek.
Finally.
@vldangstweek March 20th: Injury
Shiro is excited to go home.
The Garrison’s accelerated post-secondary education program is grueling, and while in the end, he’s sure it’ll be worth it, as it stands now…he doesn’t remember the last time he got more than three consecutive hours of sleep, his laundry is piled up because he’s honestly just too tired to deal with it all, and on top of the sheer burnout that comes with intensive classes intended to prepare an individual to go to space is just.
He’s struggling to hold it together enough to get through these last few classes, and then he’s on his way home. Before night comes, he’ll be back at home with his parents and Keith, and he can see what’s been bothering Keith so intensely. Because something’s up, and he can see it in the way Keith won’t text him unless he needs a question answered, and in the way he won’t speak on the phone for more than a moment or two, and in how those few moments when he will talk to Shiro, he’ll be quiet and subdued.
He doesn’t think it’s anything too serious, but Shiro is also well aware that his attention has been mostly diverted towards his classwork, of late, and he’s letting Keith slip through the cracks, but there’s not much he can do about that right now. He just has to get through today, and then he can pay attention to Keith.
He’s looking forward to it, to be honest. He misses his brother.
Finally, finally, finally, his last class ends, and as soon as humanly possible, Shiro has his bag and is out the Garrison door and on the train home. He usually hates the train—it’s crowded and loud and cramped, but today, he doesn’t mind. Everyone else seems to be filled with the same lethargy he has, and he can just. Sit. And lean his head against the window, and think.
Keith’s been…quiet, lately. Not enough to concern their parents, Shiro thinks, because they haven’t brought anything up to him—but then again, he has been away for a few months, and Keith’s at an age where he might not want to get all caught up in telling things to his parents. Still, Shiro’d like to keep judgements for after he’s actually talked to Keith. He doesn’t want to make snap judgements, not for something as important as potentially his entire relationship with his younger brother.
Shiro closes his eyes and just feels—the cool glass sticking to his forehead, the rumbling of the train over the tracks, the faint headache creeping up at the edges of his head, his heartbeat that’s just a few beats too fast (a remnant of the past month of over caffeination and stress and not enough sleep), his tense shoulders.
He’s so tired.
He dozes, for the rest of the ride home. It’s not the most restful sleep, but it’s a solid five hours—it’s more than he’s had in the past week, so he wakes up at his stop feeling more coherent than he has in what feels like forever.
Walking back from the train stop, his bag swung over his shoulder, Takashi Shirogane is going home, and he’s so glad. He’s missed these familiar streets, these comfortable patterns of life. It’s peaceful.
(Well, it is until he turns the corner.)
Shiro’s parents live on a corner, but he walks up along the side and turns to get to the front yard, where there’s a sturdy, tall tree in the front. When he was younger, he loved to climb it—and apparently Keith’s learned to do the same thing.
He turns, and it’s like a slow-motion crash.
The sky is bright, brilliant blue. The tree, impossibly tall, stands with its leaves waving gently in the wind. Keith is sitting amongst the upper branches, laughing at something Shiro can’t see. Shiro barely has time to smile and drop his bags before he sees the disaster occur.
Keith leans too far back, just the slightest bit, and Shiro can see his eyes widen and he can hear him gasp as he falls, leaves ripping apart as Keith crashes down.
Shiro runs toward the tree, but Keith falls faster than Shiro can make it across the yard and Shiro has to watch his little brother hit the ground and bounce.
He doesn’t get up, and Shiro is at his side almost immediately, babbling and shouting in terror. He doesn’t remember what he’s saying—something about Keith being hurt and Keith please God open your eyes Keith please—and he’s so scared and before he knows it his father is pulling him back, emergency services are lifting Keith onto a stretcher, and their mother is getting into the ambulance as it shrieks off.
Shiro can’t breathe.
He’s on the ground again, hands bracing him from behind as he stares up at his father. He can see his reflection in his father’s glasses—wide eyes, and absolutely terrified.
He doesn’t know what to do.
His father helps him up, and then they’re in the car, driving towards the hospital.
Shiro just keeps seeing Keith hit the ground on replay in his mind—the way his head had landed against the ground, bouncing and hitting it again and then staying achingly still.
Then they’re in the waiting room, and a nurse is talking to Shiro soothingly, trying to convince him that he’s in shock and he needs to sit down and she’s probably right but he can’t just sit and wait for news he doesn’t want to be taken care of he wants to know if his brother is okay he just—he’s hyperventilating. Maybe the nurse has a point.
It feels like forever later (Shiro never did learn how long they waited, and he never asked, to be honest) that a doctor comes out and tells them that Keith’s fine—stunned, a broken arm from hitting branches on the way down, bruised ribs, and a mild concussion from hitting the ground—but he’s alive and awake and he’ll be just fine.
Shiro doesn’t believe it until he sees Keith, small and pale and bruised but sitting up and talking to their mother softly from his hospital bed. As soon as Keith turns and sees him, he grins brightly, and Shiro can finally breath again, and his hands stop trembling.
He makes his way over to Keith, and cautiously pulls him into a tight hug, squeezing his eyes shut.
He was so, so scared. Keith is only twelve—he’s too young to be terrifying his brother like this.
Keith whispers, softly, but Shiro hears him all the same.
“I could hear you, you know. I couldn’t open my eyes, but I knew you were there. You’re always there, when I need you to be.”
They never talk about it, later, and Shiro honestly isn’t sure if Keith even meant to say it out loud, but he did all the same and Shiro knows what it means that Keith even though that, about him. He just holds him tighter, and feels the tension leave them both with every breath.
(Four years later, Shiro is lost to space, and every time he goes to sleep he faces that moment when Keith hit the ground, except in these dreams he doesn’t wake up, because Shiro’s not there for him when he needs it. Not anymore.)
But right now, in this moment, Shiro cradles his younger brother and swears to himself that he won’t ever be too late ever again.
(He doesn’t realize until he’s back at school that he never did get around to figuring out what was up with Keith.)
