I was tagged by @notnaturalanahi (beautiful, girl, you keep rocking it!) and even though there isn’t a lot of things that I love about myself, I will list the things that I do love.
I love myself because…
The way I can talk to people. I have a 6th sense of what people are feeling and I love that people can come to me whenever they need to because I help them. I don’t know how in some instances but I do and I love that people trust me enough to come to me for anything.
I love the way my hair is. I know, something so small couldn’t be why someone loves oneself but it is. Apart from my eyes, my hair is one of my best assets. It has naturally sun-bleached highlights that I couldn’t bear to part with.
I love the fact that my writing is what people love. I love that it makes people go into a different world. I love the fact that I can bring out smiles, tears, heart wrenching feelings, and a lot of other kinds of feelings. Trust me, this is the best feeling in the world for a writer.
I love the fact that I love to laugh. Come on, who doesn’t love laughing? Laughing is life’s best medicine and sometimes, that’s all you need to know you’re going to get through whatever you’re facing. I like to think of myself as a funny person so if you need a laugh, come to me!
I love that I put everybody in front of me because they are more important.
I really do believe that at least part of the problem of people distrusting science has to do with how we as scientists portray ourselves.
We have actively created a system where we derive authority from being seen as better/smarter/more competent than everyone else and then when people ask why they should trust us we respond with a very condescending version of ‘because SCIENCE IS FACT’ or something along those lines.
Like, consider how that would feel from the outside? Here are a small group of people who you have never met/interacted with who sequester themselves in impenetrable ~elite institutions that you can’t access and don’t feel party to who then tell you that what they say is fact because they’re smarter and better educated than you. And if you ever try to question them (no matter how reasonable your objections may be/seem to you) they condescendingly pat you on the head and say something like ‘don’t worry we know better. you can’t possibly understand what we do.’
Why the hell would you trust them?
No one likes being told that they’re not smart enough to understand something, and no one likes feeling excluded from something they’ve essentially been asked to accept sight unseen.
I don’t really have a solution to this, except some vague notion about working harder to portray scientists as people working a job, rather than geniuses who are above it all.
And like trying harder to understand where people are coming from when they question science. And remembering that being better educated than most doesn’t make us smarter than most. It just makes us better trained in certain types of thinking.
I just think we need to keep in mind what we are asking of people. Which is to put a whole hell of a lot of faith in us.
Don’t forget Gorillaz fans, Jamie Hewlett exist! He made all you’re favorite band members come to life in the music videos, shorts, ect! He continues drawing them countless times and works day and night to give you new content with the band members! So please appreciate him!!! ❤❤❤
Reblog this if you wait patiently for replies and respect the other mun enough to understand that muses can become selective at times in replying to certain threads, as well as ooc life becoming far too busy at times.
I don’t often make non-art posts here, but there’s been a recent event involving a certain abhorrent fandom who I’m sure you’re all familiar with that’s really been bugging me.
As some of you are aware of a Steven Universe art book was released, there was a scrapped designed for a crystal gem named “concrete” with features that might bare semblance to a certain race or racial stereo type. Alongside said concept piece were some notes from a writer on the show (writer/boarder? I’m not entirely sure) that mention they “can’t read” and “collects shoes”. All of these together have people hooting and hollering over a bunch of silly coincidences, which is par the course for that particular group of people. They complain at every turn when it comes to stuff they deem as “social injustices” or some kind of “racial prejudice” in relation to these characters or plot points for the story. Let’s get some shit straight though:
Steven Universe is a work of fiction. The people behind Steven Universe don’t have any ill-intent with what they’re creating.
There’s a lot of stupid kids on this website, and for every stupid kid there’s at least 2-3 adults that aren’t right in the head that believe they’re doing the right thing by starting witch hunts and doing everything within their power to ruin a creator. For example:
The wording in their posts is that of someone who believes what they’re doing is slick, what they’re doing is undoubtedly the right thing. This person legitimately believes trying to learn who wrote some words that were attributed to some other person’s random concept art scribble for the sake of shitting on them is the right thing to do and will encourage the creator’s of the show to keep bending to their demands. You’re a part of several things that stifle creators visions, you’re legit contributing to the ruination of an art form because you’re doing backflips to insist that something is racist, and going an extra step just to run some unrelated person’s name into the ground.
I don’t even like this show. Steven Universe isn’t a cartoon I enjoy, I’d say it’s bad in a lot of places. I wouldn’t, however, say that I hate it so much that I think the team behind it needs to catch shit over something this petty. They especially don’t need this coming from people who exist for the sole purpose of dragging down creators because they deem a piece of media is that offensive to their sensibilities. This nonsense as reached a fever pitch and now is the absolute best time to tell the loud minority: “No. What we created wasn’t meant to offend. These are the people responsible, their intent wasn’t to offend. This design wasn’t even used, calm down.”
Children out for blood, shit, adults with the _mindset of children_ out for blood over a cartoon. You’re absolutely mad if you believe this is the way to settle a disagreement. If you’re young, don’t get involved with something this trivial. If you’re an adult and legitimately upset at this, you might be beyond saving. For the love of God get over yourselves.
So I know like 90% of the fandom is against black paladin Keith and like for the most part, I’m kinda iffy about it myself. But hear me out. Black paladin Keith… whose right-hand man is Lance. Lance acts as an advisor of sorts, whom Keith trusts, no questions asked. If Shiro isn’t going to listen to Lance, Keith will. Keith already knows Lance is capable and takes the mission seriously (even though he seems to take little else seriously. That’s not to say he isn’t serious, just he copes differently). They have already experienced first hand that working together yields success. And already we can see that when it gets down the nitty gritty, they fall into a harmonious efficiency, despite the air of competitiveness between them. Keith is the drive and the passion and Lance, the patience and positivity. Together they make an unstoppable force. A good team, if you will.
i absolutely hate it when advice posts tell you to study all the time. i just read one that said, “if you sleep now, you’ll dream. if you study now, you’ll live your dream.” i mean, it could be metaphorical, but it’s actually a really unhealthy message. studying constantly is not healthy. you need to have a balanced life. you need to have a social life, you need to exercise, you need to sleep. how on earth can you be the best version of yourself if you only study? look after yourself. get at least 6 hours sleep a night. eat healthy food. go outside and see your friends. do things that you love. studying constantly, through the night and day, is not good for you at all. and it’s time that the studyblr community learned that.

Luke Cage: Was wrongly incarcerated and the side effects of illegal experiments turns him into a bullet proof black man protecting Harlem.
Iron Fist: Asian-American torn between escaping stereotypes and feeling estranged from his culture, discovers he’s from a long line of mystical martial arts masters and gains the ability to use his chi to save the world.
Iron Fist: White boy can do Asian thing better than Asians
We need more people like Joel Clement to come out of the shadows and bear witness to the unlawful misdeeds and tax payer waste the Trump Administration is employing to silence Climate Change science and stop life saving Climate Change.
There is a thing about fandom mentality that baffles me.
Yes, fandoms change over time and the first big boom slows down. And for haikyuu the first boom definitely has cooled down.
And as I totally get how you can be sad over passed times and be nostalgic about how things were I feel it’s unfair to sit around and mope and complain that the fandom is dead.
I know some of the first big artists and writers have moved on and as said I understand if you miss the exciting times of a new fandom. But if you only look back and look sadly behind you and at the empty spot the artists who have left the fandom have left there you will never see what is happening all around you.
There are still new people coming and creating. There are still new fics and stories and new fanart with a new style.
Some people who have been around for 1 or even 2 years are still around and providing and keeping their stories going and alive.
There are still totally new and very fresh people entering the fandom who haven’t heard or seen any of the stories yet and are excited to get to know all.
But if you only look back and hold on to the old things you won’t be able to see all the new things. You won’t be able to enjoy all the things. And this is sad. And this is what discourage other artists and writers…and in the end I feel this is what makes a fandom dead.
Some of the early haikyuu art and fics are great and they have been important and I value them and I would never talk them down.
But it’s sad to see that they are still held up to such a praise that new things often can’t find their room. Even people who joined the fandom more recently still hold up to the old things.
Go look into the fresh tags. Don’t always look for most notes but for what is new or sounds good.
There are some great artists and writers among us who have been fighting and creating for over a year now but still haven’t found their ground cause you still rather be sad about someone who isn’t in this fandom anymore.
So if you are still motivated and interested in the fandom go out there and have an open mind and search for new blogs to follow and look into newer things! People still creating and posting new stuff every day!! With this a fandom can’t be dead!
i thought about death last on a tuesday. i thought about how decay is supposed to smell sweet and i wondered what that meant for its taste. i have no intention to find out, though i know curiosity, like cat to mouse, has a way of digging her claws in.
i thought about life last night. not just the sunrise, or the stars. not just the way the world goes dizzy at the edges when you hold your breath, but the way that the air feels in the aftermath of a storm. particles lightning-charged with the same kind of life that lingers in the synapses of a brain at the edge of discovery.
this morning i thought about you. you. you are hard to fold into words. i find that your curves do not like the way sentences feel when i try to hold them up against you, to see if i caught your image within them. the comparison is as weak as i was when i saw you last tuesday, or when you smiled at me last night.
tonight? who knows. the thing is, i think these days i laugh more than i cry, but i still think about death. i haven’t looked at the stars in a while but i still see them, and i will always watch for storms. you do not complete me as i was a person before you, but i like that we could live alone. it means we choose not to.
I know everyone’s jumping on the idea of reapfist, and I’m the last one to say Jack is a healthy influence for Gabriel (even in my own headcanons and writing as a R76 shipper I tend to acknowledge that Jack has a lot of soul-searching, apologizing, and compromising to do before he’s earned back so much as a passing glance from Gabe after the shit he’s put up with). And I’d definitely say that without that effort from Jack, Gabe just plain deserves better than his flat pasty ass.
But look. Listen. Gabriel cares about people hardcore. We’ve seen it with everyone he’s ever been close to. He’s even said to respect and be a little proud of Sombra, according to the devs. He’s a fake-edgy hardass with a gooey halloween themed marshmallow center.
And Akande? Yeah no. He doesn’t care about much of anyone or anything. He’s got his “humanity will get stronger through conflict” deal which is probably talking about a long-term goal of escalation and encouraging various arms races, and that’s probably for the sake of preventing the kind of shit that went down during the omnic crisis the first time around, but to me that seems to be rooted in the trauma of losing his arm. Strength means no one else can beat him, and if he’s never beaten, he’s never left to be just another name etched into a memorial.
Gabriel doesn’t think this way. To him, every name on a memorial is another letter of condolence sent to a family. It’s a face he’ll never see in the mess hall, a dumb joke he won’t hear again, an echo of something that won’t ever come back. Even if Akande thinks he’s being pragmatic and realistic, seeing things as the world might see them, Gabriel can’t justify it. We’ve seen how he never kills more than he has to. We know he took in criminals and turned them into good people. His isn’t a policy of “might makes right”, it’s about justice.
Akande knows better than to step into an argument with that, and I doubt Gabriel’s point of view is about to change his mind anytime soon. It’s the wrong angle to approach it from. He’s too hardened and purposefully distant, cool and calm and strategic. What he needs isn’t someone who’ll agree to disagree because if they don’t it’ll get ugly, it’s someone a bit more…
Optimistic. Someone who can parry his cool boardroom debate skills with clear examples of the world simply not being as fucked and in need of escalation as he thinks it is. Someone who could be said to be as much of an outlaw terrorist as he is, from a certain point of view. Maybe even someone who’s creative, who’s… Musical.
My friends, I see your offer of reapfist and raise you: doomfrog.
