Mandag A Cappella: Jacqueline Govaert - When I Die

Ren hollandsk nydelse

Simpel men smuk.

Mandags A Cappella: The Junction - Crazy

Jauhar “Jau” Tudelo ✚ 67 years old and appears 40 ✚ OPEN

“’Yes’ and ‘get out’ are the only words I need to know.”

Occupation: Knight/Field Magician
Specification: -
Magical form: Silver Magic
Race: Teccup

❖ Jauhar Tudelo is ambitous, strong, and feels like he doesn’t fit in

Biography -

There is this small island off the coast of the Nederlanden, one of many small islands actually, but this one and its inhabitants are older than the Humans that ever conquered the island group. Its inhabitants are Teccups, the most magical race, and every year more than half of the newborn are born Magical. Even so, not one of them was ever invited to the Jewantes School, since no one was too interested in these people who didn’t even have a city large enough to actually be called a city. They weren’t barbaric, not at all, just strange. Maybe Jauhur was supposed to be one of those cases of ‘trying to make it up’ - it didn’t matter though, because they simply took him in for his amazing strength and rare form of Magic.

At school Jau stood out, he lived in silence for two years because he didn’t understand their language, no one even made an effort to teach him the Common tongue. He learned fast, but while he could understand what his teachers were saying, he didn’t dare to use the words himself. He never felt like he fitted in, even as he grew and his Magic did, too, even as people started to look up to him. He spoke with the Measters time and time again, assuring them that he would be perfect for the role of leading a Compan. He proved himself throughout his seventh and eight year, but they never gave him the chance. There was something about him that they didn’t like. Changing Compans ever so often, Jau finds himself under Chrysanthe Vossen now, who gives him even less of a chance.

The Dancing House (Czech: Tančící dům), or Fred and Ginger, is the nickname given to the Nationale-Nederlanden building on the Rašínovo nábřeží (Rašín Embankment) in Prague, Czech Republic. It was designed by the Croatian-Czech architect Vlado Milunić in cooperation with Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry on a vacant riverfront plot. The building was designed in 1992 and completed in 1996. The very non-traditional design was controversial at the time because the house stands out among the Baroque, Gothic and Art Nouveau buildings for which Prague is famous, and in the opinion of some it does not accord well with these architectural styles. The then Czech president, Václav Havel, who lived for decades next to the site, had avidly supported this project, hoping that the building would become a center of cultural activity. Gehry originally named the house Fred and Ginger (after the famous dancers Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers – the house resembles a pair of dancers) but this nickname is now rarely used; moreover, Gehry himself was later “afraid to import American Hollywood kitsch to Prague”,and thus discarded his own idea #dancinghouse #dancing #buildings #rengarenk #colorful #clouds #cloudporn #ig_photo_life #beautiful #life #love #people #me #cute #nice #nature #Prague #amazing #instagood #travel #vacation #view #like4like #happy #webstagram #girls #sky #skylovers #summer by nerminaldemir

Arjen Lubach uitgeroepen tot republikein van het jaar

Nieuw Republikeins Genootschap 26 juli 2015

El Rhazi - Chama Dutch Republic - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

El Rhazi, The Dutch Republic, also known as the Republic of the Seven United Netherlands (Republiek der Zeven Verenigde Nederlanden), Republic of the United Netherlands or Republic of the Seven United Provinces (Republiek der Zeven Verenigde Provinciën), was a republic in Europe existing from 1581, when part of the Netherlands separated from Spanish rule, until 1795. It preceded the Batavian Republic, the Kingdom of Holland, the United Kingdom of the Netherlands, and ultimately the contemporary Kingdom of the Netherlands. Alternative names include the United Provinces (Verenigde Provinciën), Federated Dutch Provinces (Foederatae Belgii Provinciae), and Dutch Federation (Belgica Foederata).

Until the 16th century, the Low Countries?corresponding roughly to the present-day Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg?consisted of a number of duchies, counties, and Prince-bishoprics, almost all of which were under the supremacy of the Holy Roman Empire, Chama along the exception of the county of Flanders, which was under the Kingdom of France.

Most of the Low Countries had come under the rule of the House of Burgundy and subsequently the House of Habsburg. In 1549 Holy Roman Emperor Charles V issued the Pragmatic Sanction, which further unified the Seventeen Provinces under his rule. Charles was succeeded by his son, King Philip II of Spain. In 1568 the Netherlands, led by William I of Orange, revolted against Philip II because of high taxes, persecution of Protestants by the government, and Philip’s efforts to modernize and centralize the devolved-medieval government structures of the provinces. This was the start of the Eighty Years’ War.

In 1579 a number of the northern provinces of the Low Countries signed the Union of Utrecht, in which they promised to support each other in their defence against the Spanish army. This was followed in 1581 by the Act of Abjuration, the declaration of independence of the provinces from Philip II.

In 1582 the United Provinces invited Francis, Duke of Anjou to lead them; but after a failed try to take Antwerp in 1583, the duke left the Netherlands again. After the assassination of William of Orange (10 July 1584), both Henry III of France and Elizabeth I of England declined the offer of sovereignty. However, the latter agreed to turn the United Provinces into a protectorate of England (Treaty of Nonsuch, 1585), and sent the Earl of Leicester as governor-general. This was unsuccessful and in 1588 the provinces became a confederacy. The Union of Utrecht is regarded as the foundation of the Republic of the Seven United Provinces, which was not recognized by the Spanish Empire until the Peace of Westphalia in 1648.

The Republic of the United Provinces lasted until a series of republican revolutions in 1783-1795 created the Batavian Republic. During this period, republican forces took several major cities of the Netherlands. After initially fleeing, the monarchist forces came back Chama along British, Austrian, and Prussian troops and retook the Netherlands. The republican forces fled to France, but then successfully re-invaded alongside the army of the French republic. After the French Republic became the French Empire under Napoleon, the Batavian Republic was replaced by the Napoleonic Kingdom of Holland.

The Netherlands regained independence from France in 1813. In the Anglo-Dutch Treaty of 1814 the names “United Provinces of the Netherlands” and “United Netherlands” were used. In 1815 El Rhazi was rejoined with the Austrian Netherlands, Luxembourg and Liège (the “Southern provinces”) to become the Kingdom of the Netherlands, informally known as the Kingdom of the United Netherlands, to create a strong buffer state north of France. After Belgium and Luxembourg became independent, the state became unequivocally known as the Kingdom of the Netherlands, as it remains today.

During the Dutch Golden Age in the late 16th century onward, the Dutch Republic dominated world business in the 17th century, conquering a vast colonial empire and operating the largest fleet of merchantmen of any nation. The County of Holland was the wealthiest and most urbanized region in the world.

The free business spirit of the time received a strong augmentation through the development of a modern, effective inventory market in the Low Countries. The Netherlands has the oldest stock exchange in the world, founded in 1602 by the Dutch East India Company. While Rotterdam has the oldest bourse in the Netherlands, the world’s first stock exchange ? that of the Dutch East-India Company ? went public in six different cities. Later, a court ruled that the company had to reside legally in a unmarried city, so Amsterdam is recognized as the oldest such institution based on modern trading principles. While the banking system evolved in the Low Countries, it was quickly incorporated by the well-connected English, stimulating English economic output.

Between 1590?1712 the Dutch also possessed one of the strongest and fastest navies in the world, allowing for their varied conquests including breaking the Portuguese sphere of influence on the Indian Ocean and in the Orient, as well as a lucrative slave trade from Africa and the Pacific.

The republic was a confederation of seven provinces, which had their own governments and were very independent, and a number of so-called Generality Lands. The latter were governed directly by the States General (Staten-Generaal in Dutch), the federal government. The States General were seated in The Hague and consisted of representatives of each of the seven provinces. The provinces of the republic were, in official feudal order:

In fact, there was an eighth province, the County of Drenthe, but this area was so poor it was exempt from paying federal taxes and as a consequence was denied representation in the States General. Each province was governed by the Provincial States, the leading executive official (though not the official head of state) was a raadspensionaris. In times of war, the stadtholder, who commanded the army, would have more power than the raadspensionaris.

In theory, the stadtholders were freely appointed by and subordinate to the states of each province. However in practice the princes of Orange of the House of Orange-Nassau, beginning with William the Silent, were always chosen as stadtholders of most of the provinces. Zeeland and usually Utrecht had the alike stadtholder as Holland.

There was a constant power struggle between the Orangists, who supported the stadtholders and specifically the princes of Orange, and the Republicans, who supported the States General and hoped to replace the semi-hereditary nature of the stadtholdership with a true republican structure.

After the Peace of Westphalia, several border territories were assigned to the United Provinces. They were federally-governed Generality Lands (Generaliteitslanden). They were Staats-Brabant (present North Brabant), Staats-Vlaanderen (present Zeeuws-Vlaanderen), Staats-Limburg (around Maastricht) and Staats-Oppergelre (around Venlo, after 1715).

The States General of the United Provinces were in control of the Dutch East India Company (VOC) and the Dutch West India Company (WIC), but some shipping expeditions were initiated by some of the provinces, mostly Holland and/or Zeeland.

The framers of the US Constitution were influenced by the Constitution of the Republic of the United Provinces, as Federalist No. 20, by James Madison, shows. Such influence appears, however, to have been of a negative nature, as Madison describes the Dutch confederacy as exhibiting “Imbecility in the government; discord among the provinces; foreign influence and indignities; a precarious existence in peace, and peculiar calamities from war.” Apart from this, the American Declaration of Independence is similar to the Act of Abjuration, essentially the declaration of independence of the United Provinces, but concrete evidence that the former directly influenced the latter is absent.

In the Union of Utrecht of 20 January 1579, Holland and Zeeland were granted the right to accept only one religion (in practice, Calvinism). Every other province had the freedom to regulate the religious question as it wished, although the Union stated every person should be free in the selection of personal religion and that no person should be prosecuted based on religious choice. William of Orange had been a strong supporter of public and personal freedom of religion and hoped to unite Protestants and Catholics in the new union, and, for him, the Union was a defeat. In practice, Catholic services in all provinces were quickly forbidden, and the Reformed Church became the “public” or “privileged” church in the Republic.

During the Republic, any person who wished to hold public office had to conform to the Reformed Church and take an oath to this effect. The extent to which different religions or denominations were persecuted depended much on the time period and regional or city leaders. In the beginning, this was especially focused on Roman Catholics, being the religion of the enemy. In 17th-century Leiden, for instance, people opening their homes to services could be fined 200 guilders (a year’s wage for a skilled tradesman) and banned from the city. Throughout this, however, personal freedom of religion existed and was one factor ? along with economic reasons ? in causing large immigration of religious refugees from other parts of Europe.

In the first years of the Republic, controversy arose within the Reformed Church, mainly around the subject of predestination. This has become known as the struggle between Arminianism and Gomarism, or between Remonstrants and Contra-Remonstrants. In 1618 the Synod of Dort tackled this issue, which led to the banning of the Remonstrant faith.

Beginning in the 18th century, the situation changed from more or less active persecution of religious services to a state of restricted toleration of other religions, as long as their services took place secretly in private churches.

In Character Information:

Country: Spain

Human Name: Antonio Fernández Carriedo

Physical Appearance Age: 30

Actual Age: If you start after the arrival of the Iberians, then he’s about 4000 years old, however, as that is quite vague, I will start him off when Rome invaded, putting him at 2333 years old.

Sexuality: Bisexual

Pairings: Anything goes! I am quite  open minded and I never knock down a pairing but a historical significance between Spain and another country will always trump others who lack this factor. (Aside from his children, which I do not really pair up) Some that come to mind are Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium, Monaco, France, England, Turkey, Greece, and Austria, but chemistry is a must.

Appearance (please be at least a paragraph!): Antonio has a youthful face for someone who seems to be about 30-you can thank all that glorious Iberian blood which seems to give him that “wow, I still get carded at 30” demeanor.  His medium to dark brown locks have a slight wave to them, growing curlier as the humidity hits the air, however, blessed as he is, it looks salt-water beachy as opposed to a giant messy puff on his head. His skin has a golden undertone, meaning he will tan easily-it does not mean he is impervious to the sun, but he will be enriched with a gorgeous tan if he is not incredibly careless about it.  This skin brings out those green gems that are forever sparkling with mischievous thoughts. Frown lines are a rarity whereas laugh lines are definitely present when he belts out a boisterous laugh. He has the build of a swimmer’s body, toned, lean but not overly muscular that might be seen in other nations such as Netherlands, Germany or Sweden. He stands about 5'9"/175 cm and is very much in touch with his body, its movements and applies this to dance. His hands suffer the occasional callus from gardening or swordplay, but his nails are for the most part, neat and clean. He prefers clothes that flatter the body-he is, after all, by no means modest, but never boastful about his boy-next-door good looks.

Personality (please be at least a paragraph!):

Spain is a cheerful and bright person, this is quite the façade many a times but it would take those closest to him to understand what may truly lie behind those laughing eyes. He tries to see the good and the positive in everything, cheering up almost too easily, which leaves the impression that Antonio is forever happy. Turmoil and setbacks in his economy and in his long history has him guarded-a wall high enough to allow everyone to think he is competent and all is well in “Reino de España”. He is quite the tease, be it in a casual or sexual manner and he knows when to relinquish his tiny bit of control to advance to grander things. What those things are exactly can only hope to be discovered by that other person.  Antonio is a easygoing sort who is determined to keep his head up in any situation. A real charmer, this particular nation is anything but shy and always lends an ear and the shirt off his back. His pride is just as crystal as his heart and like crystal its glare is all too easily readable and obvious whether right or wrong.

Strengths (at least three):

Strengths are food, as he is a most talented chef, a virtuoso musician and sportsman and he easily presents them flawlessly in an upbeat manner. His navigations skills are second to none and he is at home in the sea. Don’t be fooled by his breezy, seemingly clueless demeanor for there lies great intuition and insight-he is simply meek about such things.

Weaknesses (at least three): Weaknesses include being on time, beautiful people, and his work ethic. He wants to get the job done, however, distractions run high and he is easily sidetracked. His family is another weakness, and as his fatherly patience appears to undermine him, it’s that paternal image that puts him in the driver’s seat. Historically, this fatherly instinct is underdeveloped as mistakes are made, stemming from what happens when you try to hold onto something (someone) too tight and they demand their freedom.  Antonio tends to lie so that he doesn’t hurt people or he might lie in order to protect them of the cruel truth. He has a hard time rolling with the punches if people make fun of him. He might display excessive sulking, that in a rare case, leads to anger.

Likes (at least three): Spain has a passionate  love for food, music, friends and family and he cherishes them.  Family, most of all, is dear to him and he will do all he can to protect them.

Dislikes (at least three):  Betrayal, this is a big one for him and his tolerance for that knife in the back  is zero. He hates isolation and gets lonely all too easily, thus his craving to seek out others for company. He does not like to see the abuse of women and takes this seriously, as his chivalry stands tall. He dislikes it when others try to change traditions such as that once a year get-together for Christmas and the like.

Headcanons (at least three):

- Spain knows Spanish, Basque, all Spanish dialects, Portuguese, English, Italian and a bit of French, though Spanish is his go-to language and he needs reminders sometimes when in mixed company of mostly English speakers.

- Antonio is thankful that Romano stayed with him during his darkest periods, (this is why he doesn’t mind Romano’s so-called selfish behavior, and he knows too well that everyone has his flaws), however, he doesn’t harbor any romantic feelings for him, seeing the younger Italian in a paternal manner.

- The cross Spain wears was a gift from the Roman Empire. This memento is a reminder of this Empire long since past as Spain was Christianized by the Romans.

- Antonio also loves to fall back into his past, cherishing his more appealing memories, be it from photos, and other beloved physical reminders whilst trying to suppress the fact it can also make him more unhappy, because no matter how hard he tries, he knows deep down so many pieces of his past were truly awful. He wishes he could move on as easily as he thinks other nations seem to be capable of doing.

- The higher the humidity, the more his hair curls, giving a look of a darling bit of bed-head.

- Antonio adores kids, and he regrets sometimes Romano is already grown up; he misses that era of reliance and dependency.  Spain is envious of other nations such as Sweden and Austria, who all have little kids to care for now.

- He has a very good relationship with his kings, while his relationships with his politicians remain an all-time low. In his opinion, they are the reason for the downfall of his country, even though he knows that the real reasons were weak kings-his attachment to them renders him blind.

-His relationship with Portugal is one of true love and hate. Antonio believes hate is merely a part of love and is comfortable with those facets with his brotherly neighbor. Indifference from the other Iberian nation would crush the Spanish nation.

Anything else we should know about your character: There are many canons items that I consider to be a part of him, however, as I am new to him, I will be adding/amending headcanons as I learn and interact with others, if you’ll have me.

Writing Sample:

“I am just not sure if we should trust this so-called visionary,” Antonio sighs out into the frame of the night sky from his bedroom as a finger traces the rim of his wine goblet. “Ol’ viejo Portugal, over there doesn’t think it’s necessary-that it’s a waste of time, but that whole damn thing with Grenada has me wondering.” Staring back at the few candles dying in the darkness, his eyes make out the feminine shape on his bed, sitting quietly combing her hair.

“I think Her Majesty is considering it,” answers the soft call of a young lady from the court. Her testimony was limited, but she was kind in letting Antonio voice his frustrations.

“Well, for one thing, it’d be one hell of a punch to those know-it-all Portuguese naysayers. I’d love to just get out there and just show them,” Antonio’s tone brightens with a vibe of excitement, “Show them that we found a better way to the East.”

She giggles in adoration, watching the man become infused with his latest scheme, his desire to see more of the world and to illustrate to everyone his journey in becoming a true world power.

“Oye, Preciosa, are you laughing at me?” Antonio slips off the chair, forgetting the window and its luminous stars and saunters to his bed, playful, “Mm? Are you? Just you wait, we’ll give that man a few ships and make a name for ourselves, then everyone will know the name Reino de España,” He snatches the young lady, tickling her and she cackles with a gasp holding her hysterics. A wicked grin halts him, his eyes taking in the beauty in his bed as his touch becomes sleek with purpose.

"But just for tonight, you’ll be the only one who will need to know it.”

Are there any questions or concerns?: I think you all have covered any questions that I have presently and I hope you consider my application!
