Wanted to share some of the pics I used to plead my case with 2 of my friends about how jared’s eyes, no matter the lighting, are ALWAYS insanely blue.

It started with the Requiem publicity shot at the top left here because we were first discussing his eye lashes and how it’s some times difficult to tell if he’s going natural or wearing eyeliner.

I said i think other than the early 30stm days where it was obvious, he mostly goes natural these days cuz look how thick those bad boys are!!

So then it turned to the discussion of how unfairly blue his eyes are, even in his own damn selfies. Like my eyes are very blue like his and they always look like a dull grey in pictures. TEACH ME YOUR WAYS JARED!!!!

in short, his eyes will always slay me 💕

Shrinking Blonde's Guide to Makeup Pt. 2 (Drugstore Brands)
Not only am I a beauty junkie, I work as a style section editorial intern at a magazine which has lead to me to some amazing and some not-so-amazing product discoveries. To save you money, time, and lots of headaches, I’ve compiled a list of the best makeup I’ve tried, both luxury and drugstore brands alike.  DRUGSTORE BRANDS
  • Foundation for oily skin: Revlon Colorstay. The best drugstore foundation I’ve ever used in my life. It applies like a luxury foundation and really stays! It doesn’t make me oily, but it can be shiny so be sure to set with a powder along your t-zone.
  • Foundation for dry/regular skin: L’Oreal Lumi. It’s incredibly luminescent and sooo glow-y. It’s just gorgeous. I actually just bought this yesterday and mixed a tiny drop of this into my MUFE Mat Velvet and it brought out such an amazing glow. This stuff is a perfect dupe for Yves Saint Laurent foundation. It looks great on everyone, but I’ve noticed it looks the best on really dark skin tones. Literally it looks like you’re glowing from within. Just gorgeous.
  • Undereye concealer: Maybelline Dream Lumi. It is pretty similar to my MAC Prep + Prime stick at a fraction of the cost. They looks really great in the inner corners of eyes as well!
  • Blemish concealer: Sonia Kashuk Hidden Agenda. This comes in a little palette so you can treat different skin issues with ease. The really yellow stuff will neutralize dark spots, the light shade will help with redness, etc. You just need a tiny dab on your concealer brush and you can practically do your entire face in one go.
  • Eyeshadow: NYX shadows are by far the best of the drugstore lot. They are sooo silky, easy to apply, and legitimately last. There is a little bit of fallout with these shadows, but this can easily be fixed by doing your eye makeup first and then applying your foundation.
  • Eyeliner: Maybelline Eye Studio gel liner. I use this every single day of my life. There is no other. Like, skip the pencils, skip the luxury brands. Buy this. No really, BUY THIS RIGHT NOW!
  • Lipstick: Maybelline Color Whisper. These come in the prettiest shades ever and are so creamy. They don’t feather either!
  • Mascara (general): Maybelline The Rocket. This is honestly one of my favorite mascaras of all time. The brush is so perfect for strong yet soft lashes. One or two swipes is perfect for day-to-day, but layer it on for the most gooorgeous dramatic lashes of all time.
  • Blush: Milani baked blushes. I’ve only tried these a few times, but they give a really pretty flush. They’re shimmery without being to glittery, so it’s still natural-looking for day time.
  • Bronzer: Milani baked bronzers. I used this bronzer all through college and really loved it. It has the perfect flecks on gold in it, so it will flatter all skin tones. A little goes a long way, so be careful!
  • Makeup brushes: Real Techniques. A lot of professional makeup artists I know have some of these in their kits, so I went out and bought a few yesterday. I got three for like $12 and they feel like good quality. I used the blush and powder brushes today and have been really satisfied so far.

Treat Yo Self: Spending 50 Bucks At Sephora

So you want to drop some hard-earned cash at Sephora? It’s easy to go overboard and suddenly find yourself hitting the triple digits even though you feel like you bought three things and they are in a tiny bag. To me, around 50 bucks (not including tax I don’t know where you LIVE) is the “listen, Imma go all out and treat myself a bit” range without being explosively insane. Feel free to pick and choose to fit your budget, though. Below, I give you a starter guide to some of the best bangs for your buck, depending on the kind of shit you are looking for. May it help you in the darkest (or most florescent, lighting-wise) of places.

For a Natural Look:
1. Benefit Gimme Brow! (22.00)
2. Sephora Color Reveal Lip Balm (13.00)
Sephora’s Color Reveal Lip Balm is a dupe for Dior Glow, and basically it’s a balm that enhances your natural lip color to create a subtle, rosy look. It’s very, very pretty–surprisingly so. This is one of my favorite products when I want to look like me, but with prettier non-food-stained lips. This plus strong, natural brows is an easy way to get a simple, pretty look.

For Acne Prone Skin
1. First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser (20.00)
2. NARS Creamy Concealer (29.00)
FAB is the best shit. It really takes care of sensitive skin and gets rid of stubborn little breakouts. This stuff cleared me up relatively fast, and NARS is hands-down my favorite concealer. It’s creamy, comes in a bajillion tones to fit any skin color, and covers up volcanoes, red marks, and things I’ve unfortunately popped and made bloody and worse.

For Dry Skin
1. First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream (12.00)
2. Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream (35.00)
Like I said, FAB= the best shit. This stuff is creamier than gosh darn cream cheese frosting and gets rid of patchy weirdness almost immediately. That layered underneath some moisturizing cc cream–this one by Clinique adds a little bit of glow, coverage AND hydration..and you’re good to go. Although honestly I think makeup companies throw the word “glow” around a, nobody’s GLOWING calm down.

Beginner Collection
1. Naked Basics Palette (28.00)
2. Too Faced Beauty Blogger Darling (20.00)
For somebody looking to try out new makeup AND cult favorites they see on Youtube and shit, this combo is great. The Naked Basics palette has great matte, neutral colors if you’re learning to do a smoky eye, a brow highlight, or a natural day look. The Too Faced kit is filled with stuff some are too afraid to dive into full-sized–like primers and bronzer, which are definitely not for everyone–and a great mascara.

Glam Night
1. Benefit They’re Real! Mascara (23.00)
2. Sephora Cream Lip Stain (13.00)
3. Boscia Blotting Linens (5.00)
In my book, great fake-looking lashes are the easiest way to go from a day-to-night-out-oh-god-i’d-rather-stay-home look. This one is my favorite Sephora Mascara. Although I do believe buying drugstore is preferred, it’s nice to have a glam one lying around. Okay. So, when I want to look sexy at night, that means not melting my makeup away in sweat. So–blotting linens to get the oily gin-and-tonic sweat out discreetly in a bar bathroom, and Sephora Lip Stain it is. Baby doll, I talk about this lip stain all the time because A GRENADE COULD NOT GET THIS OFF. It’s pigmented, beautiful, and non-drying. Buy the red and thank me later.

Spring Trends Look
1. Marc Jacobs Daisy Rollerball (22.00)
2. Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelee (22.00)
3. Sephora Nano Eye Pencil (5.00)
Marc Jacobs Rollerball is a jumping into the daisies, spring-ass flower explosion, but any floral-y “oh god, it’s getting warmer” rollerball will do. I also added Josie Maran’s beautifully light and fresh pigmented cheek jelly thing because it adds a light flush to your cheeks and isn’t so heavy because baby, your body is just remembering how to sweat again. Top off with some eyeliner on the bottom lash line in white or blue for some trendy “I saw this in a magazine” realness.

Fierce Bitch
1. Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey (15.00)
2. Formula X Nail Lacquer (12.50)
3. Kat Von D Tattoo Liner (18.00)
Saved my favorite for last, obviously. If you want to look like you might kill a man, this is the trio for you. The Black Honey Almost Lipstick is a translucent berry-black, and looks great on all skin-tones. It adds a darkness, almost…bloody wine Malefecint…look to your lips, and also doubles as a scary-good rust look for your eyelids. That plus some Formula X in their insanely great pigments–grainy blacks, holographic golds, blood reds–would almost complete the look..but oh no! Add a huge, sweeping cat-eye with Kat Von D’s tattoo liner, which is beloved by many evil and beautiful women for a reason. Then, put on some ripped tights and break some hearts, ladies.

In Cacw, what are your thoughts on Bucky being held in a chair with an electric pulse similar to the one he was brainwashed with? Ptsd and all? Also your thoughts on Tony "compromising" and saying he'd get Bucky help when in fact thats clearly not what was happening? And to emphasize, this was BEFORE, Tony even found out about his parents. Tony can feel rage and vengeance and be hypocritical because of guilt, but Bucky's still more accountable for deaths he didn't even wanna commit?

Let me start off by saying there are no clear villains in this movie (aside from Zemo), and there are no clear heroes either.

No one was completely in the right in this movie, and that is what is so great and interesting about it. There is no argument or stance for any of the characters or their motives that is completely foolproof, unflawed or unbiased. Even T’Challa acts out of vengeance and anger for most of the movie, on his murderous hunt for Bucky to avenge his father’s death (which Bucky was framed for.)

Now, with that out of the way–

I assume this is the scene you’re referring to, at the beginning of the movie. This is obviously the procedure for every time the Winter Soldier comes out of cryostasis (as we see him coming out of a cryochamber seconds earlier):

This ‘freeze and shock’ method was likely used as a reset button as well as a very cruel kind of alarm clock. To make sure he is a blank slate and ready to comply, as we hear the trigger words spoken after the pulse procedure.

As far as Bucky’s PTSD, I would like to note a few differences in this scene (which takes place in the past, presumably on or near December 16th, 1991) and the similar torture scene from TWS:

Unlike the ‘older’ scene (from Civil War back in 1991), Bucky is strapped in by his arms. He also has a mouth bit to minimize his screams (HYDRA likely got tired of hearing him be so loud, despite how some of the members probably took some sadistic pleasure out of seeing him break like that), his chest is heaving, and he’s shaking; his hand is trembling and his jaw is clenched. You can see his anxiety, his fear; he knows what’s coming. He’s learned through his repeated tortures what this chair and equipment does to him; not even the brainwashing and cryostasis can make him forget. It’s muscle memory now. So you can literally see how his PTSD developed in just how he reacts to his torture (though you don’t need PTSD to be afraid of this thing, seriously.)

Here’s a thorough comparison:

  1. Posture. ‘91 WS is sitting up, relatively straight, with arms bent but not incredibly tense or clenched. Legs are likewise straight, feet presumably positioned flat on the floor / in stirrups. Shoulders are straight. He looks prepared, enduring, despite how he’s screaming. Present-day WS though? He’s slouched, leaning into the chair as if trying to shrink into it and escape those pulsars. Legs are splayed out, fists and jaw are clenched, shoulders are raised defensively or in fear (likely both). Every muscle in his body is rigid and tense, unlike in ‘91 WS, where while he’s certainly not relaxed, he’s not tight as a string either.
  2. Reaction. ‘91 WS has no mouth bit, and he screams. Loudly. He doesn’t hold back on volume, and he doesn’t bite back the pain. His breathing rate is normal, in fact a bit held back (likely due to screaming so much). He doesn’t look afraid or anxious, and he isn’t shaking in fear. Present-day WS has a mouth bit, and he does scream, but it is lessened and muffled. His breathing is fast, heavy and labored. Very likely sweating from the ordeal as well. He tries to hold back his screams as much as possible, he’s shaking, swallows multiple times in succession, and is clearly in a state of fear and distress.
  3. Expression. Just look at his face. ‘91 WS doesn’t look afraid (he goes through the scene without really any identifiable expression at all, aside from brief flashes of suffering). His jaw is clenched but he’s in pain, that’s natural. Present-day WS looks fucking terrified. His eyebrows are drawn in, you can see the muscles of his throat bulging in and out, his eyes are squinted and nostrils flared. Every part of his expression literally SCREAMS ‘make it stop’. He looks like he wants to cry.

You can see how he changes over the decades from the torture. Even in ‘91, HYDRA still had Bucky for– what, about 35-40 years already? But during that torture segment, he still looks like a soldier; like someone getting a beating but taking it. They even treat him more like a soldier in this part. In CA:TWS, which takes place in 2014, 13 years after? Bucky looks like a prisoner; a victim. He’s always been one with HYDRA, but now he actually looks like one; he ACTS like one. And HYDRA treats him like one too; Pierce slaps him and HYDRA operatives crowd him.

NOW as for Tony and his emotional issues, the main point is that his feelings are relatable. Understandable. He is angry and hurt and in pain for a REASON. Bucky’s murders were not emotionally charged or motivated; they were the orchestrations of HYDRA. Bucky was a tool, and while he did not choose to be one nor do what he did, there are still lasting consequences because of his actions. If Bucky killed your parents, or literally anyone that mattered to you, as the Winter Soldier, could you so easily forgive and forget based on the fact that he was brainwashed by HYDRA?

Understand there is a difference between being AT FAULT, and being RESPONSIBLE. Bucky is RESPONSIBLE for the blood on his hands, because despite how much he was used as a tool and a weapon, he’s not literally one; he’s a human being. To treat and see him as a weapon (and thus remove all responsibility from him) would be the same view of HYDRA. But the fault of his actions, because there was no choice behind them, does not rest with him.

Tony compromised at the time because I think he legitimately went in that compound with the genuine idea of helping Steve and Bucky without issues. He wanted to help, because he saw the bigger threat and he missed it before, so now he wants to make it up to Steve. Things didn’t start going down south until Tony saw the video recording of his parents’ murder.

Tony, despite all of his emotional issues and suffering, despite the pain he had to go through to see his parents murdered and to find out Steve hid the truth from him– he still had a choice. He CHOSE to attack Bucky. He CHOSE not to listen to Steve (just like Steve chose not to listen to him earlier in the movie). He CHOSE to make matters worse and play into Zemo’s hands. Do I blame him? No, of course not. It’s a course of action that, in that very moment where everything comes crashing down on you, it makes sense. Is it right? Again, no. Two wrongs will never make a right. Murdering Bucky will not bring his parents back.

Rather than attempt to punish and get vengeance on a man who never chose to bring any harm to your loved ones in the first place, instead they (everyone, not just Tony but the world at large) should work on finding ways on preventing more scenarios like this from happening again. Find ways to let the man help now that he has the ability to choose again. Because I guarantee you no matter how much or in what ways they could punish Bucky for what he did, he’s punished himself far more and in far worse ways than they ever could.

And at the end of the day, Bucky is just one more of the Winter Soldier’s / HYDRA’s victims, just like Tony’s parents. He doesn’t have to be dead to be a victim.

So I got a 50$ sephora and Mac gift Card for Christmas.... What are some good products to get at Mac! I've never really been there.

From MAC i’d recommend

  • Mineralized Skinfinish Natural Powder because it’s such a light weight, natural looking powder but still gives good coverage.
  • Any lipstick or blush really, it all depends on your skin tone but i’d get one blush you can wear every day! My personal fav is Dainty (mineralized warm pink blush) because it will work on so many skin tones yet it’s still a natural looking, every day blush.
  • MAC Pro Longwear Concealer, great for spots or under the eyes. Great coverage but still feels light weight and not heavy/cakey.

From Sephora i’d recommend getting good face products like foundation, primer and powder. It all really depends on your skin type so you should def ask a Sephora employee for good foundation recommendations for your skin type. But i’ll tell you some of my favorite products :)

  • Benefit Hello Flawless Powder which is my favorite face powder because it has great coverage so it can be used as a powder foundation or use lightly to set foundation. Makes your skin look so nice and poreless!
  • Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray
  • Matte bronzers like Benefit Hoola Bronzer or Too Faced Chocolate Soliel Bronzer. Matte bronzers can be used for contouring or bronzing, great product to have!
  • Urban Decay Naked foundation

Iman Stick Foundation Review

The Iman stick foundation was $17.99 at Walgreens, which is way above drugstore pricing. The foundation promises to create a flawless makeup application while remaining oil free.

The first time I wore it I was in complete awe except for one thing, it broke with the first swipe! Im not sure if I applied too much pressure but that doesn’t stop me from using it. It applies very smoothly with a medium coverage and feels as if there is nothing on your skin. The foundation is sets with a prefer finish that doesn’t make your skin feel cakey. If you have dry skin this foundation is definitely not for you. It will cling to dry patches and make them more noticeable.

On my first day wearing it, I thought it was the perfect match until I left the house. My face was so orange and I didn’t like that. It lasted all day long and didn’t budge a bit. I wore it for about 11 hours and was impressed with the wear. There was no need to blot excess oil or touch it up. I got so many compliments on my skin that day I felt like I was famous!

I’ve been using this for about a month now and there are a couple pros and cons that I have.

Lasts all day
Natural looking
Perfect shade
Great for oily skin
Works well other foundations

Clings to dry skin
Undertone is too orange
Not good for winter skin
Expensive for drugstore

All in all I really like the foundation. It is perfect for those in a hot climate that don’t have dry skin. My skin is a little dry now from the cold winds so I see how it wouldn’t work if your skin is like that all year around. For almost $20 I shouldn’t have any problems with the actual product breaking in the packaging. That is a issue that you shouldn’t have to deal with for that price. The Iman line is perfect for women of color and had all complexions covered. It combat the dryness I apply the foundation with one that is too oily for the combination and set it with an oil absorbing powder.

I have it in the shade Clay 4, which will be a great summer shade. I may purchase the shade that it’s under it to see if the undertones are different. I would recommend this to someone that knows their skin type. The more you put on the more orange you get but you can definitely put on a little and mix it with other foundations to avoid that. I love it despite that issue and will continue to use it. I hope this was helpful for you!

in love with…

1. DIY neon pots – such a cheap and fun way to brighten up your room for the spring 🍋

2. mason jar candles – mason jars make anything cute 🍶 they’re great for smoothies, iced tea, soap dispensers… and candles! mix and match with fun shades for spring

3. funky phone cases – I’m in love with funky patterns for phones. I get such good vibes from my pineapple phone case (source: etsy)

4. polaroids – I’m really really wishing for a horizontal polaroid camera (I currently have vertical, which is great but I love the look of horizontal)… also there’s apparently a new polaroid printer 😮 you can print any photos from your phone, any time, as a polaroid (?!) I know it’s crazy talk… think about how convenient that is for when you didn’t bring your roid but wish you had the physical memory 📷

7. Fresh ‘Sugar Honey’ lip balm (with tint) – I THINK I’M IN LOVE. this shade is exactly what I’ve been looking for. I don’t think the photo does it justice; it’s the perfect nude/pink tint that’s the right amount of subtle and the right amount of bold. it’s the perfect natural lip tint and feels buttery smooth. use a ‘Lush Chocolate & Mint lip scrub’ + Burts Bees Coconut & Pear lip balm, and this lip balm slides right on – perfect application and lasts a while!

8. Naked ‘Basics’ Palette – the perfect balance of neutrals; great for a natural day to day look (”foxy” or “W.O.S.” on the lid; “venus” in the inner corner and brow line; “naked 2″ in the crease)

9. Burts Bees Intense Hydration Mask – feels amazing and makes a huge difference 💦

10. Arizona Soft-footbed Birks – I just got the black oiled leather soft-foot bed birks and I live for the moment when I can put them on… so incredibly comfortable

11. fun springy Essie’s – (from left to right: ‘Sand Tropez,’ ‘Go Ginza,’ ‘Chillato’)

12. simple necklaces (+ jewelry in general!) – etsy stores (ex: Made by Maru) and considerthewldflwrs have super duper cute, delicate jewelry. also in love with simple watches like the American Apparel thin strap white-gold watch (pictured above)

happy may… I hope everyone is feeling vibrant and fresh 🐥

Karlie says, “Cara is hysterical. I love her! To be honest, she doesn’t have much of a beauty routine, but I love the fact that she goes pretty natural with her every day look. Obviously she has those gorgeous, thick brows. I don’t think she even does much to maintain them. She let’s them do their own thing and grow their own way so I love that. She’s one of those people that’s so true to who she is—what you see is what you get—and everyone could learn a bit from that once in a while.”
