The snow crunched beneath your feet as you walked across the field. Charles had sent you, Peter, Scott, Jean, Kurt, and Jubilee to go pick out a Christmas tree for the school. Tall, fluffy pines were lined up on either side of the group, creating a natural walkway. Kurt was holding the ax, as he had decided that none of the rest of you could be trusted with it. As the sun began to set, causing the orange and pink hues sparkling across the snow, it took the already-lacking warmth with it.

“What about this one?” Jubilee asked, pointing to a medium-sized tree to her left.

“We had one twice that size last year,” Jean commented from your right, as she eyed the tree.

“Well, that means we need one four times this size,” Peter stated, flicking a branch of the tree so that snow was flung at Scott, who glared in response.

“Can I put zee angel on zee tree?” Kurt inquired excitedly.

“Sure, Blue,” Scott replied, coming to stand at Jean’s free side, in an attempt to avoid any further pestering from Peter.

Everyone resumed walking, and the speedster slowed to fall into step beside you. A gust of wind hit you all, causing you to pull your sweater tighter around yourself.

“Follow my lead,” Jean’s voice said in your mind. You turned to her with an inquisitive brow raised, and she shot you a wink before giving an exaggerated shiver. “I’m so cold.”

Scott immediately pulled off his jacket and offered it to her, earning him a thankful kiss on the cheek. Jean elbowed you, nodding towards Peter, who was busy evaluating the trees. She was well aware of your massive crush on him – and that you were definitely wishing you had that silver jacket of his.

“Yeah, I’m really cold too,” you said, matching Jean’s shiver. Peter glanced at you, then realized what you were hinting at and held his hands out in exasperation.

“Well damn, Y/N, I can’t control the weather!”

You and Jean both glared at him, and he stared defiantly back at you two for a few moments, before groaning and shrugging off his jacket. He slung it over your shoulders, and you nuzzled into the coat, thankful for the newfound warmth. It smelled like him: a bit of junk food, and body wash.

Peter wasn’t actually cold – just stubborn. But when he saw the way you pulled your arms through the sleeves and snuggled into it, he felt his heart swell. The arms of it were far too long for you, so the ends of the sleeves stopped at your knuckles. The bottom of the jacket fell past your hips, and the entire thing enveloped you. You looked positively adorable.

“If you want it back, just say so. You don’t have to keep staring at me,” you stated, playfully bumping him with your shoulder.

“Wha– oh, no, uh…. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to stare,” Peter admitted, then smiled. “You just look really cute.”

If you had been asked, you would have blamed the blush that colored your cheeks on the cold. Flustered, you tucked a piece of hair behind your ear, and murmured a timid “Thank you.” As it often did, that piece of hair fell into your face again, and before you could fix it again, Peter brushed it away from your face. His fingers lingered on your jawline as he stared into your eyes. Normally, you would shyly look away, but something about the moment held you captivated. Just as Peter began to lean down towards you, Scott hollered “I found it! I found the one!”

When your heads whipped in Scott’s direction, he was pointing furiously at a massive tree as Jean nodded in approval. Peter let out a sigh, before giving you an apologetic smile and saying “That’s my cue.” He took the ax from Kurt, and the tree had fallen within a minute. In an attempt to impress Jean, Scott tried to pick it up and carry it himself, but the thing was massive. With a wave of her hand, Jean caused the tree to levitate, and Kurt teleported you all back to the school. He wasted no time in gathering the boxes of ornaments, and Jean, Scott, and Jubilee began helping him decorate the tree. You hung back, opting to lean against a nearby door frame and watch them, as you lamented on what had happened between you and Peter.

He was going to kiss you. There wasn’t a doubt in your mind of that. Well, maybe…. No, no, he was definitely going to kiss you. And you were going to murder Scott for interrupting you.

You felt a small gust of wind beside you, and turned to find Peter leaning against the opposite side of the doorframe, smiling at you.

“Not much for decorating trees, huh?”

You shrugged, “Just didn’t really feel like it. What about you?”

“I’ve got other things on my mind,” Peter stated, and you could swear you saw something in his eyes that let you know that you were the other things on his mind. The two of you stared at each other for a few moments, but you both turned when you saw Jean walking towards you.

“Christ, they’re the most interrupting couple…” Peter muttered under his breath, but returned Jean’s smile.

“You know,” Jean said slowly, “it’s basically a Christmas law that you’ve got to kiss if you’re underneath a mistletoe.”

Your brows furrowed together, as you knew there hadn’t been a mistletoe anywhere near you. But when you looked up, you saw one hanging from the door frame. The proud smirk on Jean’s face let you know that she had put it there while you and Peter had been busy staring at one another, and she winked at you both before returning to the tree.

“Well, I mean, she’s right,” Peter said, shrugging and trying to hide a grin. “I’d hate to break that law.”

“I would, too,” you agreed, also attempting to suppress your smile. Agonizingly slowly, Peter began to lean down towards you.

“It would be a crime to not kiss such a gorgeous person when the opportunity presented itself,” he mumbled, with his lips a hair’s breadth away from yours. That caused your smile to reveal itself, just as Peter closed the gap between your lips.

The kiss was dizzying. Your mind went completely blank, and upon instinct, you wrapped your arms around your neck, and he wrapped his around your waist, pushing you back against the door frame.

After a few moments, you heard loud wolf whistles from Scott and Jubilee. That caused both of you to smile widely into the kiss, and Peter pulled away slightly, resting his forehead against yours.

“You look better in my jacket than I do,” Peter observed, tugging lightly on the collar of the garment.

“You think so?”

“Then show me.”

Peter smiled again, before leaning down to press another mystifying kiss to your lips.

This 130m walkway offers visitors amazing views of table mountain in Cape Town.  The aerial walkway is so naturally and strategically designed that it remains blended in to its surroundings.

At its highest point of 12m high, the walkway allows you to walk above the trees. In other areas, the walkway dips lower under the forest canopy, so you can enjoy the foliage as well.
