I am kind of concerned that so many people are reducing the female body into a sexualize object on your post. Like yes we shouldn't be walking out in a bra and panties but like wearing jeans and a t-shirt isn't a sin. Why are people acting like it is? Why are we judging our sisters in Christ as if they are looking for them to mess up so we can -pardon my language but it is how I feel - call them a whore. It is makes no sense that we are dragging each other down. We should be raising them up

It’s because of our irreverence of God and our lack of fear/awe of God.

Let me explain it this way:

When we see a painting of a person who is nude, we are in awe of the skills of the artist and the beauty of the human body. We do not hide these masterpieces from children, we do not lock them away in sections of museums or art gallery’s that are “not for minors”. It’s our respect for art and the artist.

How we view the human body is much different, because we see other people through a lens of our own desires of the flesh, and reduce them to this. This thought is actually a combination of lust and immodesty (of the mind). We do not view others as made in the likeness of God, but as tools for our own use. We do not simply see a man or a woman as they are-Gods masterpiece, but as a reflection of our own sins and temptations.

Our natural response to the naked human body, unless that person is our spouse and they are mutually engaged in intimacy, should be love, awe of God, fear of God.

Here is the problem, we are very aware of a small percent of modesty, which would be “covering the body”, and really that’s just a skim from the top of the virtue. To desire modesty, we must desire to understand the gift and value of ourselves and others, just as chastity is not “no sex until marriage” but the holy understanding of human sexuality and also love. “No sex until marriage” is to “cover the body” when it comes to virtues, it’s a good step in the right direction but it’s just not that simple.

Some people say to cover it up “for your spouse/future spouse” (or “only your spouse should see you naked”) but your body is not given by God to your spouse, it was given by God to you to use as an instrument for God’s work, for your vocation. For many people, they do not have spouses and are not called to become one flesh in physical union with another person.

I think if we look at those who more frequently dress very modest, we would find many of those people actually have a history of sexual related sins, so have a disturbed perception of the human body-people like myself. Others have been instructed that “naked human body =sex sex sex only for your spouse!!!” Definitely not ALL of us who are concerned with modesty, but many of us.

This is because their (or my) attempt to uphold modesty is by first covering up and essentially protecting the body as we would cover something very precious to us. My previous perception of the naked human body was always =sex. It’s shameful and disturbing and our culture is very aware of the sexualization of human beings (and even young teens/children) and our best attempt is to “cover up” our bodies rather than actually obtain true modesty, respect for other people, love for other people, and most importantly awe of the power of God in his creations.

The first step is modesty of the mind. As Catholics/Christians we must see someone in a swim suit/short dress/etc not as an “immodestly dressed” person or a “walking temptation” but as a creation of God. If we think “wow this is Mass I can’t believe they would wear something like that!!!” we should repent and beg God for the gift of true modesty (and humility).

I NEVER was telling people “it’s ok guys just like be naked or whatever modesty is like whatever who cares” I was just saying that it’s much deeper and more beautiful than “hide those nasty ankles, neck, shoulders stomach from menzzz eyes!!!” It’s unfortunate that it wasn’t received well or maybe not even understood.

I also believe we should be holding men to higher standards because I KNOW wonderful holy men can fulfill these standards. We shouldn’t be telling young girls to “cover their bodies because all men are going to lust after your body!!!” because then their standard for a husband (if it’s her vocation) will be a man that reduces her to such. I think men have self control and are capable of viewing women as Gods precious creations rather then just something for their taking.

One last and final thing (sort of off topic from the question) before I hit “post”, we should remember that modesty is a life time GOAL. Our understanding of modesty will not look the same as someone else. (Example;) We are told to dress in our finest clothing for Mass, if a person who was impoverished came to mass in a t-shirt and jeans would we be disturbed? Would we really know if it was that person’s finest clothing if we did not know their financial status or what hangs in their closet. Can we say that this person is not making an effort? A person with humility and love for God and others would not notice a person’s clothing. The same goes for modesty.

Maybe that person’s understanding of modesty is so innocent, so pure, that they do not see the human body in such a disturbed and lustful nature as we do? Maybe that person’s understanding of modesty is better than our own.

F a n t i n e & C o s e t t e

In the depths of Fantine’s nature, we know dwelt modesty and virtue. She had a vague feeling that she was on the eve of falling into distress. She must have courage, she had it, and bore up bravely.

There was in Cosette’s veins the blood of the bohemian and of the adventuress who goes barefoot. It must be remembered that she was rather a lark than a dove. She was wild and brave at heart.

VENUS and the SUN part 2

There are only a few possible combinations between the sun and venus, here are the descriptions of the blends from LEO VENUS to SCORPIO VENUS:

  • LEO VENUS

Sun in Gemini / Venus in Leo

Emotion is heightened, with the subject aiming for a fulfilling and rewarding relationship. He or she may be boastful towards, and about, the partner. Generous, with a sense of occasion and a need for sexual and social variety, this is a fun loving, if not always faithful, partner. Leo loyalty, however, will help counter Geminian duality. Here is a rewarding and lively friend. Extravagance and impulse buying can cause financial problems.

Sun in Cancer / Venus in Leo

In this placing an extrovert exuberance is added to the Cancerian expression and emotional needs. Constancy and loyalty are important, but Cancerian moodiness and snappiness may combine with Leo bossiness and must be controlled if the individual is to relax and enjoy this sphere of life. Nevertheless, this is a caring and warm- hearted friend. Special collections, maybe of silver, are good investments.

Sun in Leo / Venus in Leo

If an over-extravagant expression of emotion can be controlled so that dramatic scenes do not cause problems, here is someone who will look up to and admire a partner, giving much encouragement and support. If bossiness can be exchanged for diplomacy and tact, partnerships should be rewarding. There is usually no lack of sexual enthusiasm. Money will be spent to enhance the quality of life.

Sun in Virgo / Venus in Leo

This placing bolsters the self-confidence of the rather shy Virgoan. The tendency to be over-talkative when nervous should be controlled. Natural Virgoan modesty can easily clash with Venus in Leo showiness, both sexually and image-wise.This is a lively friend who will want to organize occasions for everyone’s benefit. Occasional extravagances should be enjoyed rather than viewed as reasons for guilt.

Sun in Libra Venus in Leo

Venus rules Libra, so there will be some Leonine traits, and the influence of Venus will be strong. Generosity is usual, and if love and affection are lacking there may be a tendency to try to buy them with elaborate presents. At your best, the individual is romantic with a love of good living, and will give much to a partner both through warm-hearted affection and sex. This is a considerate and sympathetic friend. Although extravagant, money is usually managed quite well.

  • VIRGO VENUS

Sun in Cancer / Venus in Virgo

The Cancerian tendency to worry will be directed toward the partner, and they may find it a little difficult to express feelings as freely as is desired. Cancerian moodiness and the critical tendencies of Venus in Virgo should be recognized, and one must learn to relax into relationships and derive real pleasure from them, especially as Cancerians have so much to give in this sphere of life. This is a kind, if somewhat critical, friend. Reluctance to part with money is a common characteristic.

Sun in Leo / Venus in Virgo

Leo emotions and exuberance are toned down and occasionally aloofness can mask sexual inhibition. Leo bossiness and Virgoan critical tendencies can cause problems, so must be consciously recognized and controlled. There are usually good powers of communication within relationships, and aiming to use these positively will be rewarding. Shared interests and work projects are particularly stimulating. They make a lively and rewarding friend. Flair for investment is common, but the modest needs of Virgo will clash with Leonine extravagance.

Sun in Virgo / Venus in Virgo

Self-confidence, especially related to sexual appeal, is not strong. Virgoan modesty will present a charming challenge to prospective lovers, but one should learn to break down any barriers that may come between the self and fulfillment in all aspects of relationships. Money will be spent with some degree of caution.

Sun in Libra / Venus in Virgo
This is not an easy combination, for Libra needs love and harmony while Virgo will tend to be shy of expressing feelings and responding to love. As Venus rules Libra, there will be a powerful element of Virgo present. They can be a lively, talkative, albeit indecisive, friend. Financial affairs are approached in a practical way.

Sun in Scorpio / Venus in Virgo

This powerful but tricky combination can make one obsessive about sex. Conversely, there may be a clinical attitude, or a feeling that sex is dirty and undesirable. Much will depend on how the Scorpio Sun is aspected, and on the Moon, Ascendant and Mars signs. At its best, this placing makes for an energetic friend and thoughtful partner. Financial flair is considerable.

  • LIBRA VENUS

Sun in Leo / Venus in Libra

This placing may tend to make one rather laidback. Leonine generosity is increased, and there will be a tendency to put the loved one on a pedestal, increasing the possibility of hurt should the partner fail to measure up to the exacting standards required. The pleasures of the good life will be important and enjoyed, and creative flair may be shown in design or music. As a friend, you will make quite sure that every event is an occasion. A great deal of money must be earned, so that it can be spent!

Sun in Virgo / Venus in Libra

This placing often helps the shy, not so self-confident Virgoan to relax and enjoy love relationships and other luxuries. It will also ease the harsher, more critical side of Virgo. There is often flair for creative handiwork such as woodcarving or dressmaking, and all such potential must be fully developed. Here is a helpful, sympathetic friend who will enjoy doing good turns for others. You will want to work hard for every penny earned, but will not be averse to enjoying the pleasures that extra money can bring.

Sun in Libra / Venus in Libra

The influence of Venus is very strong in this placing. This placing will considerably strengthen all the attributes of Libra, especially if the Sun and Venus are in conjunction. Money may be extravagantly spent.

Sun in Scorpio / Venus in Libra

This adds a colorful, romantic side to the intense passion of Scorpio, increasing sympathy and understanding of partners and encouraging the warm expression of feeling. The liking for comfort and luxury is enhanced, but the resentfulness of this placing can combine with Scorpio jealousy and must be controlled. Here is a good friend, but one who may become suspicious. Generosity and financial flair will be present.

Sun in Sagittarius / Venus in Libra

This gives a sense of u relationship as much as the chase. (Not always the case for people with this Sun sign!) The power of Venus will help to quell Sagittarian restlessness and encourage a philosophical outlook. Financial security is of above-average importance, since creature comforts are sought more than is usual for most Sagittarians.

  • SCORPIO VENUS

Sun in Virgo / Venus in Scorpio

A conflict can arise between Virgoan modesty and the sexual desires of Venus in Scorpio. While you may be extremely attractive sexually, you may not want to appear so!  If self-confidence and relaxation into sexual enjoyment can be developed, the influence of Venus will do much good for the possibly sexually inhibited Virgoan. This is a wholehearted friend who may become overcritical at times. Money is managed well.

Sun in Libra / Venus in Scorpio

On the whole, Librans should gain much from this placing of the planet that rules their Sun sign. It will give them an air of romantic mystery, making the women inclined to be femmes’ fatales. The increased sexuality of this combination weakens the otherwise wholly romantic Libran outlook on love, and adds an intensity and sense of purpose that can otherwise be lacking. Jealousy is strong in this one. This is a friend who wants to enjoy all aspects of life, and will have the capacity to do so. They will make money and spend it.

Sun in Scorpio / Venus in Scorpio

The passion of Scorpio will have some very romantic overtones, which will add to one’s sexual attractiveness. Scorpio jealousy will be increased, as will a tendency to become obsessive about the partner’s every action. Moneymaking acumen will be present.

Sun in Sagittarius / Venus in Scorpio

The lively, fiery passion of Sagittarius is increased, with the need for independence clashing somewhat with the Scorpionic intensity of feeling. They may feel pangs of jealousy from time to time and loathe them, doing everything possible to rationalize these difficult feelings. Awareness of the conflict will help to counter it. The Sagittarian enjoyment of life will be enhanced; here is a friend who will be a marvelous host, full of suggestions for enjoyable experiences. Financial risks will be taken, with mixed results.

Sun in Capricorn / Venus in Scorpio

The love life will be taken very seriously, and perhaps the subject will refuse to realize that they have some deep, intense and very powerful feelings. There will be loyalty once committed, but there can sometimes be a conflict between emotion and a practical approach to life, resulting in the delaying of commitment. Friends will be put to the test in some way before being fully accepted. Steady financial growth is important and will be achieved.

Gruvia Analysis in Final Chapter

This deserves to be posted in each Gruvia fan’s posts, because it’s so beautiful, touching and a work of art!  ❄💙❄

Fangirling aside.

First we got this beauty. The way Gray and Juvia are together is a good finishing touch to the series. Comrades side by side with their loved ones. Notice how natural and happy they look. Notice Gray feels comfortable even with Juvia hugging him!

Again this shows development!

Here in this panel, we see Gray getting jealous at seeing Juvia. 😂  This is the first time we see this type emotion in this arc.  Last time Gray was jealous was when Lyon carried her in the spa omake. IIRC.

In this scene this shows he doesn’t want his waifu to strip infront of people. This shows natural care and modesty.Rather than dragging Juvia by the arm on the ground, Mashima should instead have had Gray grip Juvia by the hand, and walk her out of the scene. However, I don’t mind what Mashima did as it parralels to how Juvia dragged Gray in the Tenrou Island arc. So major props  to the user who spotted that!

Now obviously the translation are not completely legit, but we can atleast figure out, their talking about their scars based on the close up of Gray’s scar panel. I think Gray wanted Wendy to fix Juvia’s scar, and then proceedingly  suggest that maybe Juvia’s body is also his since she has a scar too. If you think about it, he’s claiming that maybe Juvia’s body is his basically which shows they are equal.. Essentially Juvia and Gray are one. Soulmates are after all one being that are connected through their soul, mind and body. More importantly their hearts are resonant. . So this kinda parallels into that. Which I think it’s quite adorable with the blushy expression of the two. Gray is a bit flustered, and shy for thinking/talking about Juvia’s stripped body and had the balls to open up about it.

However I’ll be honest, I’d be overjoyed if this shown in the previous chapter, because these moments don’t seem to be the finishing touch couple canon-eque material but more as in another chapter couple moment material.

Now obviously I expected more from Mashima considering the last we’ll see of them in the main manga (until Mashima draws them in the future in potential omakes), so I was left a bit disappointed. I know it’s not hard to please all of the shippers consering how much you have to write, draft, and ink.  so I will not be hard on Mashima whatsoever.

I’m content at Gruvia being canon and I’m most overjoyed at seeing my babies blushing cutely at each other. 😍

I will post again until I get the official translations from Crunchyroll or someone with more credibility.

My favourite part of the Gruvia sequences has to be the cover of them smiling. Gray and Juvia similing twitter art I posted in the beginning of this post  is still the best thing Mashima has ever drawn! IMO :)

Sin is a human construct that varies among cultures and even between different congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses. People might not even bat an eye at something that would get you disfellowshipped a thousand miles away. “Sin” is just an excuse people made up for judging and shaming others, and even it’s definitions aren’t concrete because different groups of people judge each other for different things

A little over a third of the way into the modestly dressed, disarmingly brilliant production of Hamlet now playing at the Public, Oscar Isaac as the iconic prince turns to us before one of his famous soliloquies and calmly tells us, “Now I am alone.”

I caught my breath at these four words. They were not a statement of fact — they were an invitation to the audience to imagine.

Isaac was not alone, not in this moment nor ever. Hamlet as written contains seven soliloquies, but the Hamlet who is now wrestling with his fate on the red-carpeted boards of the Anspacher Theater is never a solo figure: He always has an audience. During each soliloquy, members of the ensemble sit or stand strewn about the stage, still present, giving their prince a quiet, serious attention — a company of players, watching and listening.

Hiya. Like I've said before amazing blog and the site I probably use the most ! :D Just wondering where you were from and if not from Ireland would you ever want to go there? Perhaps to visit cork ! :p Also tell me the most randomest fact you have heard about Cillian Thanks for your time. Much love.

Thank you so much! There are several of us running ohfuckyeahcillianmurphy and fuckyeahpeakyblinders. In Europe (not Ireland though) and the U.S.

Random facts. I love these shared by a schoolmate of his on a message board years ago:

1) He is hilariously funny - he and his best friends (and fellow band mates) Eoin O’Sullivan & Bob Jackson used to have everyone gasping for breath. One episode that springs to mind was where he stuffed a cutting from an old fur coat (possibly lifted from the art room - sorry Franko) down his shirt pretending like he had an extremely hairy chest… very funny when you are 13 years old. Of course he left his shirt open to catch the attention of the incoming teacher whose reaction was surely lively!!
2) Everybody liked him
3) He was very very bright (intelligent). This was evident both through the creativity of his humour as well as quite simply his exam results
4) His band used to play lunchtime concerts at our school (I remember one song I really liked which was called “Supermarkets and Supermen”). At the time the band was called Saradaze (and later Sons of Mr Greenjeans i think… memory is getting a little hazy)
5) Used to refer to his friend’s woolen coat as “the sheep”
6) This point is expressed as if I were still a kid… “He was very cool!”

bae. adansey headcanons?

BAE. OH MY GOD. OH MY GOD OH MY G

  • ok so gansey was instantly fascinated with adam from the first day he walked into his math class because of his hardworking nature and his modesty (also his elegant features because. come on. a sEPIA PHOTOGRAPH WHAT KINDA GAY GARBAGE) and he wanted to talk to him but he was hesitant because what would someone so REAL want with someone like him (while Adam was thinking Gansey’d think he was trash ha kill me) so when Adam finally did talk to him Gansey just !!!!!!!! fREAKED OUT and Ronan had to tell Gansey to ‘shut up about Parrish, already’ for like 2 weeks. Noah would just moan and put pillows over his ears
  • Gansey would always sit around while Adam worked on the Pig or a car from Boyd’s or homework, pretending to be all absorbed in his book but just watching the little furrow of concentration between Adam’s brows or the little smile on his face when he solved the problem. it’s when he starts writing little poems about him with all these sappy mythology/astronomy references in his journal that he realizes he has it bAD
  • Adam secretly loves the Pig. More so than any of the cars he’s ever worked on/seen, it has character to it and the fact that Gansey drives it means so much to him, like no matter how many times it breaks down Gansey will never give up on it, just like he could smash a thousand billion figurines and Gansey would always be there to support him and believe in him
  • Adam knows that Gansey is usually up with the telescope on clear nights and he normally hates going into Monmouth at night because it feels like defeat but one night when he’s really stressed about the trial and Cabeswater he comes in and Gansey just smiles and pats the spot next to him like they do this every night, and Adam drinks whatever passes for tea at Monmouth (”It’s a herbal blend, Adam, Helen got it for me,” “Gans I’m about 90 percent sure this is hot cherry Gatorade”) and Gansey shows him the Moon and Saturn’s rings and Venus and all the stars and lies awake after trying to burn Adam’s look of wonder into his brain. they start doing that more often afterwards
  • blUE NOAH AND HELEN ALL LOWKEY SHIP IT like one day Noah is nowhere to be found but Gansey wakes up with ‘I know who you like’ written on a Coca-Cola bottle next to his bed. Helen purposefully does a sharp turn on the helicopter so that Adam will bump into Gansey (and maybe hold his hand for comfort). Blue keeps dropping jokes about how ‘you guys should just kiss already’ a la Dream Thieves. Honestly who can blame her for wanting to see that happen
  • Richard Campbell Gansey III thinks he’s so clever and subtle but honestly he flirts like a twelve year old boy. Like he just keeps pretending he needs help with homework and going over to St. Agnes with candy and stuff that Helen baked and just. Watches him work. One time he brought over a mint plant and sort of casually chewed on the leaves as seductively as possible. He walked into a telephone pole when Adam showed up one day in one of his shirts. He’s just a total hot mess
  • Adam figures it out and just teases him as mercilessly as possible, casually walking around shirtless and working on the Pig in muscle tanks and making really subtle innuendoes and Gansey just goes. Why.mp3
  • When they fight (and they inevitably do fight) Gansey will usually come over with an apology Starbucks (Adam has a weakness for hot cocoa from there) bc let’s face it it’s probably Gansey’s fault and they’ll lay in bed together listening to music (I’m thinking Gansey’s got lots of Vampire Weekend/Alt-J, but Adam runs a bit more towards Arctic Monkeys/Lana Del Rey so they listen to that too)
  • Gansey knows Adam needs to pay his own way with the jobs but he lowkey makes sure all of Adam’s employers know if he’s treated badly at work he’ll know and certain influential people (see: Helen) will make SURE they’re out of a job
  • After Gansey dies, Adam gets the word ‘excelsior’ tattooed subtly in beautiful, curving script on his shoulder. Gansey leaves him all his books and the Pig, which he drives wherever he goes, making sure to take care of it like Gansey took care of him

Virgo Ascendant

These natives are generally characterized with an unmistakable intelligence and reserved aura. They are somewhat shy people who need time to analyze things around them before they warm up to both situations and people. This quality can be received exactly as that, or it can be received as a rather stand-offish, cool, and even critical manner (depending on the audience).

One of the biggest personality traits of this position is body-awareness. People with Virgo ascendants are sensitive to any discomfort or other signals their body gives them. Many are especially interested and concerned with physical health, and some are attracted to mind-body awareness exercises such as yoga. Virgo rising people are often rather particular about food.

Virgo ascendant natives have a tendency to worry a lot, especially when confronted with new situations. They notice the tiniest details that others overlook.

Many people with this position have a tendency to attract (or be attracted to) people who need help. Their relationships may be confusing as a result. Despite the Virgo rising tendency to appear rather collected and professional, relationships can sometimes be messy simply because these natives don’t always see their partners and partnerships clearly.

There’s a quiet charm to many Virgo rising people. Once they have the chance to warm up to new people and situations, you’ll find they have a lot to offer. They’ll help you out of a jam, go out on a limb for you, and surprise you with a natural modesty under a somewhat critical and standoffish manner.

Pretty perfect?!!

Let mystery have its place in you; do not be always turning up your whole soil with the plowshare of self–examination, but leave a little fallow corner in your heart ready for any seed the winds may bring, and reserve a nook of shadow for the passing bird; keep a place in your heart for the unexpected guests, an altar for the unknown God. Then if a bird sings among your branches, do not be too eager to tame it. If you are conscious of something new – thought or feeling, wakening in the depths of your being – do not be in a hurry to let in light upon it, to look at it; let the springing germ have the protection of being forgotten, hedge it round with quiet, and do not break in upon its darkness; let it take shape and grow, and not a word of your happiness to any one! Sacred work of nature as it is, all conception should be enwrapped by the triple veil of modesty, silence and night.
—  Henri–Frédéric Amiel

A note on the postmodernism in Hamlet:

I love postmodernism. It is sometimes a perverse and shameful love, but never something I can shake. So whenever I read something that starts churning out irony and meta-commentary and awareness of textuality, my ears (for my ears read) prick up. Re-reading Hamlet for my summer class (for the fourth time), I came across that long, long rant of Hamlet’s in 3.2 and found a new appreciation for what is, for me, a somewhat tired play. The rant includes acting tips such as, “let those that play your clowns speak no more than is set down for them,” and “do not saw the air too much with your hand, thus, but use all gently”—which amounts to “don’t overact,”—but most interesting to me is Hamlet’s assertion of what drama is for:

Suit the action to the word, the word to the action, with this special observance, that you o’erstep not the modesty of nature. For anything so overdone is from the purpose of playing, whose end, both at the first and now, was and is to hold, as ’twere, the mirror up to nature: to show virtue her own feature, scorn her own image, and the very age and body of the time his form and pressure. (3.2.15–23)

A few centuries later, literature—and art, more generally—would still be beholden to the idea of the mirror, for realism, and the lantern, for romanticism. In his approximation of Irish literature, James Joyce in 1922 is still on the mirror: “The cracked looking-glass of a servant.” But I can only imagine Shakespeare, sitting at some writing desk and inking out the literature we are still trying to measure up to today, and feeling some sense of hopelessness in the enterprise: if one might read Hamlet’s rant as a shade of Shakespeare’s own feelings, one gets a sense of desperation from it, as if to say, This is what art is for, this is what I am trying to do, this clawing at the air should be heeded.
