Nash/Hudson Metropolitan, 1954. Designed by William J. Flajole based on his NXI (Nash Experimental International) concept car which had been displayed at a number of previews to test public reaction. The Metropolitan was built for Nash by BMC in Longbridge, England and used a Austin engines. It was available as a hardtop or a convertible and was the first post-war American car to be marketed specifically at women. From 1956 it was sold in right-hand-drive form in the UK as the Austin Metropolitan. Production ceased in 1961, due to poor sales, the Metropolitan was not replaced
