She glared at him, “Must you take everything for a joke?”
“When you make it so easy, why not?”
“I cannot believe that I had allowed you to touch me so intimately and—” she confided.
“—and liked it,” he said, finishing her sentence.
“That’s not what I was about to say!” she stole a shaky breath, losing her temper would only make her look like a fool, a bigger fool than she already appeared to be.
“It’s not what you would have had to guts to say,” he acknowledged grimly.
Tenten could feel the slow painful burn of a feeling that was a mixture of shame and anger. That her own behaviour was the weapon she had handed him to use against her was the cause of her shame. “It just goes to show the type of man that you are, admitting that you would have been content with deflowering me here in your office,” she stomped her feet.
“An honest man?” he asked rhetorically. “Would you have preferred if I lied?”
Like the irrational woman that she was, she nodded, “Yes, I would have.”
“Well then, my apologies for being honest,” he grated.
“That’s hardly an acceptable apology.”
“Oh, I wasn’t apologizing,” he told her frankly.
