By now, most of you may have heard of The Four Agreements, but it is easy to quickly forget the wisdom this book contains. I know it is wonderful because I keep buying it, lending it to lost souls, and never getting it back. This makes me feel happy because it means it is helping people as much as it helped me. It is an endless gift from me to them.

One of the agreements is Don’t Take Anything Personally. While that seemed simple, Ruiz follows with, even compliments. People will compliment you when they are feeling dreamy, confident, kind. They will insult you when they are feeling low, insecure, unstable.

Nothing anyone else does is because of you. It is always because of them.

But you don’t need others words to feel good. While I acknowledge kind words from others, I can now exist in a place where no friend, lover, or family member can hold an opinion on my mind or body that I will give value to. Learn your worth and stick to it. Your opinion will always hold the most powerful resonance.
