mysterious brunette

2

The last time 21-year-old Paula Burnette was seen was at approximately 6AM on 17 September, 1996, in her hometown of Harrison, Tennessee. At least according to her estranged husband, Donald Ray Burnette. Paula’s father, received a phone call from Donald who asked if he could look after their children that afternoon - Paula needed a vacation, he said. When her family didn’t hear from her for a couple of days afterwords, they reported her missing. She seemingly disappeared without a trace, however, in October, her driver’s license was discovered discarded on a road.

Investigating her past, police discovered that she had recently dropped domestic violence charges against her husband, Donald. In fact, just the week before her disappearance, Paula called her father and asked him to stay overnight at her home because she was so afraid of her estranged husband. When questioning Donald about his wife’s disappearance, he reported that she had called him on the day she vanished and told him that she was upset that there was bad check charges pending against her. Investigators believed that Donald may have been involved with her disappearance but with no evidence to go on, they couldn’t charge him.

The case rolled to a standstill until November that year. Donald and an accomplice held AmSouth Bank manager, Sue Chambers, and her family hostage and aimlessly drove around. The duo then forced Sue to pull off a heist, successfully stealing $237,000 from the bank, threatening that they would shoot her family if she did not comply. This wasn’t Donald’s first robbery, either. He had been involved in numerous robberies over the preceding years and had been in and out of prison. The following month, Donald was apprehended for the heist and sentenced to 39 years.

As Donald was sitting in prison, Paula’s purse which contained her credit card and address book was washed into the back garden of a Chattanooga resident after flooding. Investigators would soon announce that they were looking into her disappearance as a homicide with Donald being the lead suspect. Paula’s family and friends are adamant that she wouldn’t just run away from home without announcing it to anybody. Furthermore, she certainly wouldn’t have left behind her two young children. To this day, Paula still remains missing and Donald continues to deny any involvement.

Long Distance (Chapter Seven)

So! So this chapter was originally over 5000 words and I split it in half. There is a really good conversation in here about how the relationship between the three of them will work, and I didn’t want that lost in the cuteness/sexy times of the last half. Polyamory is something I think is very misunderstood, and I wanted to make sure not to skip over it or make it seem like this was a “threesome” fic because it’s not, it’s about these three guys finding love together.

Anyway, enough of the PSA. Our boys meet up and it’s adorable. Also we learn how Stucky hooked up. So cute. Can’t wait to hear what you guys think.

Tony smoothed the wrinkles out of his shirt nervously, staring at himself in the mirror. Pepper had insisted on the dark red shirt, saying it looked the best on him, and even he knew his ass looked amazing in these particular pants.

He was killing time, waiting for a text from the guys saying that they had arrived at the hotel.

They had opted to meet at a Four Seasons about halfway between Boston and Manhattan, not wanting to be anywhere crowded, trying to keep it nice and simple. Tony had paid for the reservation- two adjoining rooms. Partly because he didn’t want Bucky and Steve worrying about the money, partly because he was worried they would just book one room and he didn’t really know if he was ready for that.

Tony had driven, taking one of his cars out for the couple hour trip up the freeway, but he knew Bucky and Steve hadn’t been able to leave until after Steve’s last class, so they wouldn’t be in until closer to seven.

It was seven thirty now, and Tony waited nervously for his phone to ring. They were supposed to have dinner at the hotel restaurant, maybe drinks out at the outdoor bar that overlooked the golf course and resort pools. And if everything went well… well. Tony couldn’t think that far ahead.

If he was being honest, meeting the two of them was making him so nervous he was nearly sick to his stomach. It was nerve wracking enough thinking about meeting Steve, who he had been talking to longer than Bucky, but to meet both of them, to see them together….

Yeah, these last few weeks of video chats and group texting had been fun and flirty and yeah, he was into both of them but…but…

Tony’s phone trilled and he lost his train of thought, opening it quickly.

{Group Text}

From Steve– we are running late, just barely got checked in. Let’s just meet in the restaurant, Bucky and I can find our room later.

From Bucky– Steve’s being nice. I’m starving so get your perfect ass down here so we can eat

From Tony– see you guys in a minute.

Tony took a deep breath and looked in the mirror one more time before heading out.

You had only been with him for a few months, and already you couldn’t imagine life without him.

Picture this: a shy girl — you —, arms hugging herself as she walks in the freezing cold with a group of giggling witches towards a club those same witches have persuaded her to go to. You had only known them for a few weeks and you were already being pushed out of your comfort zone, but your mother encouraged you to go out and have fun, so…

It’s hidden under a liquor shop and you’ve never heard of it but your new friends swear that it’s the bee’s knees, and the best supernatural place to be — which doesn’t mean much to you, because you’re human, and if anything it increases your nerves tenfold — so once they’ve dressed you up in clothes and makeup that you’d never bothered to try on before, they’re so eager to get there that they walk in the freezing cold — at 10PM.

They seem to ignore you as one whispers a password into a little slot in the metal door in front of you. The entrance is located at the bottom of an outdoor stairwell, and with your lack of coat you were shivering impatiently in seconds, tapping your foot as you wait for the man behind the metal door to unlock it and let you in.

You barely registered Wendy squealing excitedly, voice increasing in volume as music began to introduce itself to your ears. “Welcome to Hell!”

You were instantly taken aback by the sheer fanciness of the venue that you step into; it gave off a warm glow with red and gold furniture and soft light from the lamps placed around the room. Booths of red suede and dark wood tables were placed here and there, and although there was one main floor, there was another raised area where more tables were situated.

A stage lays on the lower area, pushed against the furthest wall and was currently inhabited by a beautiful woman who’s voice ws almost as sweet and smooth as honey. It was almost otherworldly — actually, it was —, and if it weren’t for your friends pulling you along to a nearby booth, you would’ve ran to join the people dancing in front of it, even though it was completely uncharacteristic of you to do so.

“Pretty nice, huh?” Irene smiled, watching your fascination fondly. You nod, a smile on your face as your friends began to decide on what drinks they wanted. “We come here all the time. It’s pretty… secretive, so make sure you don’t let it loose, ‘kay?”

“Of course,” you breathed. You’d be stupid if you passed out the info on this hidden gem — nobody needed to know about the active supernatural community in Chicago, or all hell would break loose.

You couldn’t stop taking in everything around you; from the golden bar loaded with expensive bottles behind it, to the dancing people, to the amazing, sultry music — and then, your eyes drifted over to the corner of the room, up on the raised platform. There sat a group of men, all handsome and most with a cigar in their mouth and a woman under their arms. They were surrounded by cigar smoke and alcohol and they looked extremely dangerous but for some reason, you couldn’t look away — especially when you realise that you had stopped on the figure of a tall, brunette man who was already gazing back at you.

“_____,” Joy whispered urgently, following your eyes to the group of men and her own widening when she realised what you were watching. Her hand encased your wrist and at her desperate tugs you found the strength to break your eye contact. “_____, don’t look at them. It’s better if you just ignore their presence completely.”

“Why?” You frowned, voice quiet, as if they could hear you — but you weren’t taking that chance, not in this place. “W-who are they?”

“They’re called NCT,” Wendy interrupted quietly, eyes flickering behind you. “Vampires. Very powerful, very dangerous, best to be avoided — okay?”

Although you were no stranger to the world of the supernatural, you weren’t good at matching faces to names and honestly, if you had to guess what that group of good-looking men were, you would have thought that they were Fae — entrancing, ethereal, hypnotic, garnering everyone’s attention with little to no effort.

You felt guilty at the rush of exhilaration coursing through your veins, because you could most definitely feel eyes burning into your back and your mind was still focused on that mysterious brunette, but you exhaled, a smile pulling at your features. “Okay.”

There was almost a collective sigh of relief, and although the question of what those men had done to get people to fear them so much plagued your mind, you were quickly thrown into conversation when Yeri suggested that you and her go and get the drinks at the bar — the two youngest, she had said. And you couldn’t argue with that.

You were much too aware that he was still watching you as you and Yeri slip out of the booth and make the short journey to the bar, where two man with wands were whizzing up drinks at the speed of light.

“Um, one Mediterranean Depth, two Faery Rings, two Scarlet Hearts and…” Yeri trailed off, her eyes drifting to you uncertainly, and you immediately felt sick at the attention placed on you. You had no idea what half of the things she listed were — hell, you barely had any knowledge on mortal alcohol!

“U-uh,” you gulped, looking at Yeri desperately, “I’ll have—”

“She’ll have a Mortal Lifespan, Zelo,” a voice rumbled from behind you. You didn’t even have to turn to know who it was, and you’re shocked by the clammy feeling of your hands and the loud thumping of your heart. Yeri’s eyes were wide and she wasn’t discrete with her fearful staring, and everyone could see how she grasped your wrist and tugged you towards her.

He stepped beside you, though, and the ability to see him up close had you breathless. His hair was fluffy and longer than most of the men present, who wore their hair short and slicked back. Tan skin, a strong jawline, tall and thin, dressed in dress pants and a button up and his eyes, his eyes, they looked like pools of swirling dark brown, infinite and filled with flickers of golden amber and you couldn’t stop yourself from staring—

“Fitting, isn’t it?” He rose an eyebrow, eyes not even stuttering towards Yeri. His attention was focused solely on you. “Not many mortals come to Hell.”

You had no idea what to say. Your throat felt like it was closing up at the idea of speaking to Tall, Dark and Handsome, but he only seemed to think your behaviour was cute — your cheeks were burning when you heard a chuckle escape him.

“How is it?” He asked carefully when ‘Zelo’ passed you a short glass of dark purple iridescent liquid. You took a hesitant sip, ignoring Yeri’s desperate eyes as you let the strange flavour drift over your tongue and burn down your throat.

“It’s nice,” you answered, a shy smile appearing on your face. Your eyes flickered between his own and the glass in your hand. “Tastes like… blueberries.”

“Somethin’ told me you’d like it,” he grinned, before he stuck out a hand. “I’m Johnny, doll.”

Yeri was practically shooting daggers into your back, but as if you were compelled, you let your hand slip into his, smile growing as he pressed a kiss to the back of your hand. “_____.”

“_____, the others are waiting for us,” Yeri interrupted, but she wasn’t looking at you, only at Johnny. It was the most serious you had seen the usually bubbly girl. “We should go…”

“Well, surely, your friends wouldn’t mind if I stole this lovely lady for a dance?” Johnny inquired charmingly, his eyes floating from Yeri to you. “That is, if you want to, _____.”

Wendy’s words from earlier were suddenly very prevalent in your mind, and you felt as if you were caught between a rock and a hard place. You wanted to dance with him, so very badly — but your friends were adamant that you stayed away from him.

And maybe they would absolutely loath you after this — maybe they would call you an idiot, a stupid, brainless girl… But he was smiling so hopefully at you and you couldn’t bring yourself to turn him down. You didn’t think you wanted to, anyway.

“I… I’d very much like that.” Yeri was gaping by that point.

But you both payed her no mind, and your drink was placed back on the bar as he intertwined your fingers and led you to a spot in front of the stage, amongst other couples and groups. A slower, jazzier song had begun to play, and the singing had managed to get even more smooth, more seductive, more romantic.

“So,” Johnny murmured when you got into a nice rhythm. His hands were low on your waist and yours were placed on his shoulders, and strangely, you didn’t mind the close proximity of your faces. If anything, it made you want to close the distance… “I meant what I said earlier, you know. Not many mortals come to Hell.”

“Well I’ll have you know, Mr. Johnny,” you began quietly, playfulness seeping into your tone of voice, “I’m not like most mortals.”

“You sure aren’t.”

And he spun and dipped you, and you hoped vampires didn’t have terribly good hearing, because the amount your heart rate sped up was embarrassing.

•••

Months had passed since the faithful night in which you were introduced to Johnny Seo — and you were thankful to say that you didn’t regret your decision to dance with him one bit.

Your loss of friendship with the Red Velvet Coven of Witches had been disappointing at first — they wouldn’t meet your eyes, and when they did you were on the receiving end of nasty glares — but you quickly realised that your friendship hadn’t been very strong, anyway, and you were better off not being friends with people as immature as they were.

Besides, you had made new friends. Not only had Johnny’s brothers welcome you with open arms, their friends and beaus were more than happy to make you feel at home. It was strange to think that the people you were closest to were mere strangers to you only a few months ago.

Things with Johnny were going swell. Even thinking about him had you positively glowing, but you were proud to admit that. It wasn’t hard to like him, in all honesty. With his charisma and humour and sweet personality and his protectiveness — you had really scored a goal this time. And, for once, you thought he liked you back.

You danced, you talked about things you had never talked about when the night blurred into early morning… He more often than not referred to you as his beau, his girl, his sweetheart — and even though you never confirmed anything, you thought it was safe to say that the feelings were mutual.

Which brings you to this moment. In Hell, with Nina’s smooth voice drifting over the pair of you like a warm blanket. The golden light cast upon your skin reminded him of the sun, and he knew that to him, you were just as important.

He held you in his arms like you were priceless, like he had to protect you. You didn’t know what had changed in him that night, but he seemed different — more open with his affections, for one. You had forehead kisses many a time that night, your fingers interlinked, his thumb rubbing circles against your cheek fondly; you were not one to complain, though.

“Did the Red Velvet ever explain much to you about vampires?” The peaceful silence between you broke the second the words exited his mouth, but you found them much more relaxing than the silent stillness.

“Not much,” you shrugged, lifting your head from his chest to meet his eyes. “Why? Is there something you want me to know, Seo?”

Johnny chuckled warmly, but he didn’t answer you, at least not immediately. He spun you gently, admiring the swish of your dress with every step you took, and then he pulled you as close as possible. “I just feel — as your personal vampire archive — that I should be educating you, baby.”

You giggled at his words, but rolled your eyes anyway: “Tell me something I don’t know, then.”

“Well,” he exhaled, biting his lip and throwing his eyes the the ceiling, as if he was thinking hard, “Maybe the most important thing to know — we drink blood—”

“How stupid do you think I am?” You snorted lightly, pushing his shoulder when he laughed at your reaction. “Come on — tell me something new, something interesting.”

“Okay,” he finally agreed, his playful smile melting down to a more sombre and serious expression. “So, vampires — they mate for life.”

“You gonna elaborate?” You tease.

“I’m getting to it — be patient, would you?” He clears his throat. “A vampire’s mate is picked from the moment they’re born or created. It’s like… the universe knows who will compliment them as a person, and a vampire knows exactly who their mate is just from being in the same room. You can smell them, you know — and like I said, vampires mate for life. Being away from your mate for too long can make you sick, it can make you hallucinate… You can only get rid of them if you reject your mate.”

“So you have a mate out there somewhere, huh?” You echoed, trying to not let the disheartening stone of sadness in your stomach show in your facial expression or voice.

“Somethin’ like that.”

He watched you carefully, scoping your reaction and registering every flicker of your eyes to the floor, every uncertain bite of your lips.

“That’s what I wanted to talk to you about,” Johnny continued slowly, and your head lowers. You expected the worst: he found his mate, and now you couldn’t be together. He’d go off and be happy with someone the bloody universe had picked for him…

“You… You’re mine, doll.”

You remember that moment perfectly; your head snapped up, your eyes were wide, and you stared at Johnny for a good 5 minutes before you found the strength within yourself to speak — and when you did… “Y-You — and me?”

“Not too disappointed, I hope?” He raised an eyebrow as your expression changed in seconds from shocked to confused to happy, eyes glassy and lips pulled tight in the most genuine smile you had ever managed to pull off.

“The exact opposite!” You cried, arms abandoning their places on his shoulders and winding around his neck. He gladly accepted your embrace, burying his head in the crook of your neck, and all he could think in that moment was how complete he felt.

•••

“Heard you and Johnny were official,” the voice that is directed at you startles you, and if it were not for your strong grip on your bookshelf, you surely would’ve toppled over.

You peer down from the ladder you were propped up on, and to your utmost surprise you see Yeri. You haven’t spoken in months, and the confusion must show on your face. She rolls her eyes, crossing her arms and looking away from you.

“Just wanted to make sure you were still alive.”

You figure that with a conversation starter like that, you’d want to have your attention fully invested, so in secinds you’ve climbed down the ladder and are facing Yeri with narrow eyes and furrowed brows.

“You haven’t spoken to me in months,” you begin uncertainly, “Why now?”

“Look, ____,” Yeri sighed, “You’re new to this, okay? You’re human, too. You don’t know how dangerous they are. You’re going to get yourself hurt—”

“I appreciate your advice, but I suggest you leave,” you interrupt coldly. How stupid were you? Of course she would only speak to you when it concerned Johnny. “Johnny is on his way to meet me, and I doubt you’d like to see him face to face again.”

You climb up your ladder once again, and even though you’re browsing through the books, you can tell that the concern on Yeri’s face is genuine and it makes you more curious than scared. What grudge did the Red Velvet Coven of Witches have against NCT?

Yeri leaves after a few seconds of shaking her head at your stubborn nature, but you stay in your position, waiting for your mate to arrive. But day transitions to night, and Johnny Seo is nowhere to be found.

The library closes at 7 and you must look like an idiot, insisting that you’re waiting for someone and that he’d be there any minute. In the end, you’re forced outside and into the cold, but still, you persevere, sitting on the cold library steps. It’s chilly outside and you forgot a coat, but you can’t leave until he arrives and you get an explanation…

Shock rises through your body when a coat is dropped onto your shoulders, but the hope blossoming in your chest is flattened like a garden weed when you peer up and see Yeri looking down at you pitifully.

“We gotta get you home, _____.”

“He never skips out,” you croak, hugging the coat closer to yourself. But suddenly the realisation is more noticeable than ever and you feel your eyes prick with tears. “W-why would he skip out on me?”

She says nothing, and only offers you a warm hand up.

•••

The symptoms come in slowly, almost unnoticeable. With every day that Johnny remains missing from your life, your condition worsens; at first, you begin to get headaches. Then, random pangs of pain throughout your body. Your eyesight goes fuzzy for random intervals of time, after, and dizziness follows.

You know that you’re not the only person experiencing the symptoms. Johnny must be feeling something — so why wasn’t he coming back to you? Had something happened? Or maybe — maybe he just regretted you…

Your ribs begin to ache. Every morning and night you throw up what little food you managed to digest during the last 24 hours, and you constantly feel nauseous. You began to see him everywhere — you began to hear his voice, and you could almost feel his thumb against your cheek, rubbing circles into your skin fondly as he normally did.

You’ve called out sick from work for the past 2 weeks, and you were sure your unemployment was imminent — and it was hard nowadays to find a job. And when you think it can’t get worse, it does — oh, it does.

Another scream is ripped from your throat as a sharp pain strikes your stomach like a lightning bolt. Your body is sweaty and tired, your head is pounding and tears are running nonstop down your face. The pain is unreal, but you’re glad that you’re not alone.

“It hurts, it hurts,” you gasp between breaths, clutching your stomach desperately. Yeri is brushing damp hair away from your face frantically, eyebrows furrowed and eyes glassy as you writhe in pain.

Since that day at the library, she had managed to worm herself back into your life, offering emotional support — and, when the pain began sneaking up on you — physical support, too.

You were completely in her debt for the friendship and care and support she had provided for you in your time of need. You could barely walk without collapsing but she was always quick to pick you up despite warning you to stay away from the man who caused this — she told you that you’d get hurt.

You never knew why she decided to stick around despite your blatant disobedience to her extremely important instructions, but you wouldn’t trade her for anything.

At first, she didn’t realise that your sickness was occuring because of the mate bond — but the second that she took out her spellbooks and researched your symptoms, she knew. Sympathy had filled her features, because she knew what pain was to come if Johnny didn’t come back to you. She had pet your hair fondly, voice thick with tears as she whispered, “Oh, sweetie.”

Needless to say, you had bonded with her in between the intervals of spine-breaking pain and tortuous breathlessness.

She had proposed that instead of you breaking your back trying to find Johnny, her coven sisters would search around the places he frequented at — because Johnny would surely smell you coming, and he’d be gone like the wind.

You pretended that the thought of seeing him, despite the pain he’d caused, didn’t make your heart skip a beat.

A choked whimper fills the air, your back arches off of your mattress and you have to restrain yourself from digging your fingernails into your ribcage in an attempt to stop the pain crackling through your lungs like a dozen sharp knives.

“Please,” you sob, “S-stop the pain… Please, Yeri—”

“Wendy is trying to find him, _____,” Yeri nods frantically, taking your hands in hers, “It’s okay, alright? Your body is just reacting to not being near him for so long — you’re gonna be fine, do you hear me?”

Her words do nothing to soothe the anxiety that wells up inside you as you feel the beginning of another wave of powerful pain — but this one is much more intense and scream-inducing than the other ones, and your body has grown weak and frail from hours of trying to not succumb to the excruciating sensations—

The last thing you hear is a panicked gasp as your eyes roll to the back of your head and your vision blackens.

•••

The first feeling you’re aware of is the strange numbness of pain — as if everything you had been feeling had been doused in antibiotics and ointments that were only taking effect now.

The second feeling is warmth. There’s a heaviness over the majority of your body that you identify as your duvet, and a general warmth that you figure must be the sun shining through your window, but the more prominent source comes from something beside you — something breathing, something holding you close.

It’s that realisation that has your eyes fluttering opening, trying to adjust to the light in record time just to make sure that the person beside you is the person you’ve been longing for. And sure enough, when you stir and peer through your lashes at the man beside you, you’re faced with the familiar coffee eyes of Johnny Seo.

“Baby,” he smiles gently, adjusting you so that you faced him properly despite your expression of tired confusion. “How’re you feeling?”

“How… how am I feeling?” You croak, clearing out your throat with a cough. He nods expectantly, eyes almost urging you to speak, and the sheer concern in his eyes makes you laugh humorlessly. “I… I feel horrible.”

“The pain should be going down by now—”

“You left me,” you start, voice shaking with anger, “After explaining to me how severe the consequences of leaving your mate could be — you left me? You knew what I was going through but Yeri had to get her sisters to hunt you down—!”

“You don’t understand, doll—”

“Yeah, damn right I don’t,” you scoff, pulling yourself from his embrace and slipping from the sanctuary of your bed. You pull the dressing gown from your wardrobe, muttering to yourself furiously as you tie it around your waist — “And don’t call me doll, either.”

“Come on,” Johnny pleads, watching as you begin to fish for a hair tie on the messy surface of your vanity, “Don’t be like this, sweetcheeks—”

“Unless you have a perfectly good reason for why you left me out of the blue, Johnny Seo,” you narrow your eyes, “I’m going to continue being like this.” You turn your back to him and begin to focus on tying your hair up.

“I went to the library that day, you know.”

“Well, did I see you? No.”

“I heard you and Yeri, alright?” Johnny snaps.

You slow your actions, turning towards him slightly. “What does that have to do with anything?”

“It got me thinking,” he mutters, and you raise an eyebrow in confusion. He only exhales softly, climbing out of your bed and circling around it until he stands in front you. “I don’t want to hurt you, _____.”

“Hurt me?” You echo in disbelief, folding your arms. “You’re not going to hurt me, Johnny. I know that. I’m not scared of you or what you can do—”

“You should be.” His jaw is clenched, and in the next second, before your very eyes, you’re pushed away from your vanity and are pressed against the opposite wall — and despite his actions, he’s extremely careful with pushing you against the wall too hard.

He’s breathing heavily, and with a start you realise that two shiny, gleaming white fangs are pressed into his bottom lip. Despite the fact that he’s so close, fangs inches from your jugular, you don’t feel nervous.

“Scream. Run. Cry — say you hate me—”

“I’m not going to do that!” You exclaim. In fact, you don’t think you could ever do that. Even thinking of the words forming on the tip of your tongue left a sour taste in your mouth. “You want me to hate you but I won’t — I never have and I never will!”

Silence reigns over the room for the next moment, before he pushes himself away from you with a grunt, running his hands through his messy locks.

“I don’t know where this doubt is coming from,” you frown, easing closer towards him, “But you have nothing to worry about…”

You place your hands hesitantly on his triceps, and taking his silence as approval, you encase him in a hug, letting his chin rest softly on the top of your head.

“I trust you,” you whisper, pulling back to meet his overcast eyes. “Can’t you trust me and listen to what I’m saying?”

He holds your gaze for more than a while, his eyebrows are knitted together and he looks like he’s thinking much too hard about your statement, until he sighs and takes your hands in his.

“If you want to leave me, tell me now,” he begins quietly. Your heart sinks at the pure seriousness in his voice. It’s a tone you’re not too familiar with. “I’ll reject you, you can live a normal, full, human life.”

“You told me just a few weeks ago vampires mate for life,” you shake your head, your right hand pressing against the back of his neck to draw him closer to you. “I’m not going anywhere, Johnny.”

You swear you hear him sniffle a bit but he’s pressing his lips to yours before you can point it out, and the warmth that wells in your stomach is welcomed after the pain you had been living in for the passed day.

Frost (Chapter Nine)

TRIGGER WARNING– mention of past sexual assault/Tonys reaction to it. It’s not graphic at all, nothing is described or anything, it’s just brought up and there are a few paragraphs where Tony/Loki discuss it. I will mark ****where it begins and ends. This sort of thing can be particularly triggering for people, so just be careful.

Can’t wait to hear what you guys think of this chapter, other than the TW it’s honestly beautiful and sooo cute and the boys kiss a little! Long Chapter 4200 words!

“You have been avoiding our Anthony, and it is hurting him.” Thor said disapprovingly as he fastened his warm cloak over his riding clothes.

“Your forgiveness.” Loki murmured, staring down at the ground. “Things did not go as planned the other day and I–”

“Anthony mentioned your change. He also said that you ran from the room before he could even try and understand what had happened. Your brief explanation only confused him more.”

“Yes. Well when he came running to you, did you tell him of the demon that lurks within me?”

“Your Jotunn form is not a demon, Loki.” Thor said patiently. “You have hated it for so long, but it is not as monstrous as you believe. And it has no bearing on your personality. “Tis just cosmetic. Our Anthony does not care about such things.”

“Easy for you to say.” Loki retorted. “You have poems written to your beauty. I am the thing that lurks in the night, what we tell the children in horror stories.”

“You are not.” Thor shook his head. “And by denying Anthony to chance to see you, to even talk to you, is hurtful to both of you. It pains me to see you miserable. It has been a long few days.”

“Yes well.” Loki folded his arms, shook his head in defeat. “While I have missed Anthony, I am at a loss as to how to talk to him again. We were close and then I–” he closed his eyes. “I changed and I couldn’t–”

“He mentioned you were close.” Thor agreed, a curious light in his eyes. “I take it after our conversation, you were eager to further your relationship with our Anthony.”

“I attempted.” Loki emphasized. “And look what happened. Obviously Anthony and I are not meant to–”

“You need to talk to him.” Thor insisted. “You are doing him a disservice by assuming that he will reject you over something cosmetic, something you have no control over. What you are has no bearing on who you are, and it is high time you realized that. Our Anthony is only a man and yet he is stronger of will than most immortals that walk our realms. What if I had discounted him because of what he was? I would have missed out on my love and I cannot abide that.”

Thor frowned at him. “Do not leave our hjartslattur lonely, wondering why one who shares his heart is trampling so thoroughly on it by hiding himself away. Go to him.”

“I will be gone for several days, and if I return to hear that you have avoided him, I will be very angry with you.”

“Thor–”

Loki.” Thor grabbed him in their almost-hug, their arms clasped, their foreheads touching. “Swear it. Swear you will go to him. I will not leave while you two are at odds with each other.

“I swear.” Loki agreed, even as he fought against the panic in his chest, the thought of facing Anthony again enough to make him tremble. “I swear.”

“Very well, then.”

Thor held him for another moment before pulling away. “I have already said good-bye to Anthony, left him sleeping in our chambers.”

“I will find him when he wakes.” Loki promised. “Safe travels. Return home to us.”

Loki didn’t think anything about his words, it was a standard enough thing to say in parting. But this time something flickered in Thor’s blue eyes, something Loki didn’t quite catch before the giant turned and headed out the door.

But whatever it was left Loki feeling… warm.

She lets out a short whistle getting closer to the car. She’s been eying the beauty from across the parking lot and it only took her a couple of minutes to gather enough courage to get closer.  “Look at you, baby! Aren’t ya just, stunning.”

She lifts her hand but stops before making contact, “can I? Touch your perfect skin?”  and she licks her plump lips.

The wind blows around her, hissing in her ears. “I’ll take that as a yes. Hmm.” She moans. “Seems like someone takes real good care of you, love” The words purr out of her mouth as her fingers caress the still warm metal hood.

The sound of someone clearing their throat makes her spin around. A man, blond-ish, tall and proud. “I do actually.” fingers tighten around the handles of the plastic bag he’s holding. “She’s my Baby!”

She smirks in response.

“Congrats man!” She bites her lips. “She is beautiful.” He grins back.

“Dean.” He introduces himself, sticking his free hand out for her to take.

“Awesome” She winks, her hands move over the shiny roof. Dean follows her as she moves around the car.

 “How ‘bout you?”

“Oh, my baby is right there.” She nods her head to the black 69’ Camaro at the far end of the parking lot. “My Sweet girl.” She adds.

“Nice! You know,” Dean continues, “I have this thing for hot brunettes” His fingers brush a loose strand of her long silky onyx hair and smirks when she shivers at the contact.

“Ha!” She lets out a lonely cackle. It’s short and loud. “Too bad I do too.”  She pats his chest  before doing the same with the hood of the Impala and then starts walking away.

“Hey!” Dean calls after her and she looks at him over her shoulder. “At least give me your name, your number? I’ll call you when I finish dying my hair!” He brushes a hand through his short dirty-blonde spikes.

She turns completely and walks towards him. “I’m sorry, big guy.” She leans forward, hand on his chest again. He places his hand on top of hers, he wants to hold her in place. “You’re just not my type.. As I said before.” She nods to her car again.

Dean’s eyes leave hers only to watch an equally, if not hotter girl walking to the car, she’s holding a plastic bag from the small market. Her hair longer and even darker, looking blue-ish under the afternoon sunlight.
“We do share the same tastes, not just in cars.” She shrugs.

“You coming?” The new girl shouts leaning against the companion door of the Camaro.

“Be right there, Baby!” She stands on her tiptoes and places a chaste kiss on his scruffy cheek.

Dean watches her as she climbs into her car, the engine roars to life and she winks at his direction. Gravel flies behind the wheels, and the three of them disappear in the distance.

Dean sighs, his hands tracing the same patterns she did minutes earlier. “Did you see that, Baby?” He whispers to his car before pulling the squeaky door open. Calloused fingers grip the worn leather of the steering wheel.
With a flick if his wrist Baby’s engine purrs and he smiles. “We almost had a threesome.”

Pop

Sometimes, you think you can connect to someone who you later realize you’re only attached to because they fill sort of emptiness that needs to be taken care of. This connection can reach to great lengths from playful dates around the block to sudden heated bedroom games under the covers. I never knew I, myself was doing it until I saw her. I always announced that I liked someone anonymous to avoid any further confrontation about my love life. I finally had my anonymous person.

I was a house party thrown by a close friend and was sharing a drink with Olivia, a former fling who I had been hanging a lot with recently. She was one of the few people I was comfortable around and no matter what people said, I still enjoyed her company and it sort of shifted into a whole new direction when I noticed her acting different. All of a sudden, she always wanted to be around me and it got a little overwhelming. I was never one to know to handle someone’s feelings so I didn’t give myself any other choice but to keep whatever it is she thought this was, going. We were having what I thought was a stifling conversation when she leaned in and kissed me. With no warning, just went straight for it. I pulled away, not even a second later and looked puzzled into her eyes as she looked back at me in dismay. “I’m sorry.” She muttered and walked away, flustered.

I sighed and took giant swig from my beer when I felt a forceful thump against my back, pushing me forward, leaning on the skinny table beside me for stability. Feminine giggles heard behind me as I saw another friend of mine with a new girl I hadn’t recognized but was responsible for breaking me out of trance from her clumsy actions. “Oh, I’m so sorry!” She spoke, unable to contain herself. Her smile was the first thing I noticed, it was different; Her eyes, with a hint of nervous and unamusement. “Sorry Cal.” my friend, Blaire, pat my upper arm, smiling and ran off with the mysterious brunette, who quickly turned her gaze back at me and back. I downed more of my drink, furrowing my eyebrows and headed slowly in their direction. I momentarily made small conversation with people along the way so I wouldn’t make it too obvious I was following her. I tried to forget her but she kept reappearing wherever I went. With every person I spoke to, eye contact was rarely given because I could not stop looking at her. Her face was now plastered in my mind and so was her smile. She was definitely not afraid to let it stretch across her face. Her nose crinkled and she leaned slightly forward, sometimes covering her mouth to hide her insane smile. Before I knew it, the person whom I was supposed to be engaging in a conversation with was gone. I should’ve expected that.

My beer bottle was conveniently empty and I approached the table with the cooler in which they were provided and popped off the cap without an opener with my savvy skills. “Excuse me.” That familiar voice spoke behind me. She gave me that smile, for some reason, made me feel so different inside. I smiled back and stepped aside as she reached into the cooler and retrieved a bottle. Her body’s searching motions made me assume she was looking for a bottle opener and I turned momentarily to set my own bottle down to help her in attempt to potentially start a conversation. “Hey, I can open that for you, if you’d-” Pop “-like,” I chuckled, still finishing my offer to see her sipping from her self opened bottle already. “Thank you, but I think I’m all set.” She smiled through her teeth and turned to walk away. My first thought was what just happened as if it wasn’t simple enough. I furrowed my eyebrows and sat down. I felt a tap on my shoulder and saw Olivia standing there, fiddling her fingers.

“Oh hey…” “Cal, about what happened earlier tonight,” “You know what, don’t even mention it. We don’t have to dive into that. We both know we had a little too much to drink and shit happens.” Her eyes narrowed slowly down, sulking. “It’s alright.” I gave a small smile, patting her arm and her walking away. I broke out my trance once again as I felt a tap on the opposite shoulder. “excuse me… you must really like beer to always be blocking this cooler,” the voice spoke sarcastically. “I could say the same about you, you can really ingest a bottle,” “Actually, it’s for Blaire.” “What? Blaire can’t walk anymore and help herself like a big girl now?” I said shaking my head in Blaire’s direction while she stuck the middle finger at me grinning. She, however, smiled politely and shook her head. “Well, she can’t really open a bottle quite yet so I guess that’s why she has me.” Pop She set the water bottle I was drinking aside and tossed the beer cap in the basket. “Where did you learn how to do that?” “It’s an ancient technique.” “And I thought I was the only one who conquered the bottle cap trick.” “You must be Calum.” I blinked, taken back by her sudden knowledge of who I was. “I’m sorry, have we met?” I furrowed my eyebrows at her. “Uh no, Blaire just mentions who her friends are casually. She refers to you as, um, beer boy? And I assumed that meant it was cause of something like this.” “Nice. You know me, who are you?” “Y/N.” I held out my hand to shake hers and for the first time, I was feeling awkward around a stranger. “Thanks Y/N. I’m glad I can count on you.” Blaire bumped her shoulder, taking the bottle from her. “So… Have you met-” “Yeah, Blaire you’re about 4 minutes late. Thanks for trying though.” I sipped my beer, shaking my head. “Beer boy?” She broke out laughing. “Sorry I didn’t think that’d come up but since it did, now I know you guys talked plenty. I hate to break this up but our ride is outside sooo, I’ll catch you later.” She fist bumped me, clicking her teeth and pulled her away as she gave that familiar soft smile and mouthed a goodbye. I sat back down and started clearing bottles out of courtesy and I noticed a black rubber object peeking from between a few empty bottles. I pulled it out and saw it was a miniature bottle opener attached to few keys. I looked them over and saw Y/N scribbled onto the handle in silver ink. That little sneak. I quickly slid it into my coat pocket and with a smirk and walked away before anyone saw.

place your bets on if the articles that use these pics of harry out in nyc will go with a “mystery brunette” description for glenne or will they actually ignore/say who she really is.

Tour Guide

New to your apartment in Brooklyn you go to explore only to get completely lost. Thankfully a charming gentleman with kind blue eyes was there to save the day.

Request: ‘The Knitter’ was so adorable! Can I please get added to your tag list? And may I request something as well? I recently moved to a new place and have this daydream about walking into Bucky accidentally and he offers to show the reader the city. Or they meet because she starts working for SHIELD and this is is how they meet and Bucky thinks she’s cute and offers to show her around, like Brooklyn and so on :) thank you! X

Title: Tour Guide

Note: @gallifreyansass  I’m so sorry this has taken me so long to write this, I’ve been so busy with my holiday and organising my University. You’ve probably already settled in and know your way around the your new area now so I hope that all went well. Here’s some helpful Bucky for you anyway, thanks for the request doll, this was fun to write!

Stepping out of your brand new Brooklyn apartment you locked the door and headed down the stairs. Having just finished unpacking your moving boxes (most of which contained far too many books) your plan for the rest of the day was to get to know the area around your new home. You were more than ready to get out of your small apartment and so you excitedly jumping down the stairs you nearly ran smack bang into a rather well built blonde with blue eyes.

“Oh, sorry sir!” you called out as you narrowly avoided him.

“It’s no problem miss.” He called out and you smiled gratefully before continuing down the stairs slightly more carefully. The man you would later learn was Steve Rogers released a hearty chuckle and leant against the railing with crossed arms watching you descend the many flight of stairs.

When you reached the front door of the apartment block a very polite coloured man with a wicked smile held the door open for you.

“Thanks,” you said and he winked back giving you a dazzling smile in reply. Sam Wilson entered the building and closed the door waving up at Steve as you hit the street with a bounce in your step. You couldn’t be sure if you were nervous or excited but you were somewhere in that zone. Pulling your bag more securely on your shoulder you started off down the street taking note of where you had started off.

Much later you stood on the corner of one street and another staring intently at a map you were holding in your hands. It’d been two hours since you’d left the apartment and you had made it no more than a few blocks before getting completely lost. You tried to backtrack to your apartment but all the buildings looked the same and you just made yourself even more lost. You looked up again at the street signs above your head taking note once again of their names. Still being unable to locate either road on the map you released a sigh and stomped your foot in frustration.

You folded up your map placing it in your pocket and looked up to see a taxi cab hurtling down the road. You hadn’t noticed the puddle of water on the road and so flinched when the cab sent up a large spray. You scrunched your eyes in preparation to be soaked but you remained dry. Instead you felt a strong hand grab you and pull you out of the way. You opened your eyes to find a pair of sparkling blue ones staring back at you. Your saviour stepped back and cleared his throat awkwardly.

“Hi,” you whispered shyly unable to look away from his eyes.

“Hi.” He replied warmly his voice deep but firm. “Sorry about grabbing you like that but you already looked lost, I didn’t want to add wet to the mix.”

Well you’ve dramatically failed at that you thought to yourself taking in the hunk of a man before you.

“Thank you, it’s appreciated,” you replied instead and turned to start walking away, hoping he wouldn’t notice how blatantly you’d ogled him.

“Hey, wait!” the mystery brunette called out causing you to turn around, “Do you need a hand getting around. I meant what I said when you looked lost.”

“Oh,” you mumbled ducking your head and rubbing the back of your neck, trying to hide the redness of your cheeks. Inhaling a deep breath you pushed away your pride and risked a look at the man waiting nervously before you. “Um, yes. Please.” you added noting the beautiful smile that crossed his face as you said it.

“Brilliant,” he cheered in a gravely voice, “I’m James by the way.”

“y/n”, you replied, completely oblivious to the avenger who was standing in front of you. “Thanks for the help.”

“It’s no problem, really. You looking for anywhere in particular or….” James trailed off waiting for you to fill in the blanks for him.

“Oh, um, I’m, ah, actually new to the area, just moved in, and wanted to get to know the place but it’s not exactly going very well.” James laughed as you gestured to the scrunched up map in your pocket. He shook his head and smiled gently up at you sending your heart racing.

“Well then,” James added with a smile, “I guess you’ve just found yourself a tour guide.”

—————

James was the best tour guide you could ask for. He showed you all the main sights and attractions of Brooklyn along with a few hidden jem’s. He showed you prospect park, Brooklyn bridge and the Brooklyn botanical gardens. He even pointed out where the museum and aquarium were. As you walked he spoke of the best diners, quiet places to sit in the parks and where you can get the perfect New York Cheese cake.

Walking around yet another corner James continued his enthusiastic ramblings about Brooklyn. It was beautiful to watch him speak so passionately about his home town and if you’d guessed his identity correctly, he wouldn’t have been this relaxed and at ease in a long time. He was so sweet and kind and the way his eyes lit up when he talked made you lose track of what he was saying more than you cared to admit.

“And here’s the old Corner Cinema. Well,” Bucky paused taking in the empty car park, “it, uh, was. It was a good place to go. Snuck out to watch films with my buddy St… my friend way too many times.” Bucky’s shoulders had dropped as he took in the empty car park his once cheery demeanour fading away rapidly. Wanting to lighten the mood you looked around and noticed a diner just across the street from you.

“Hey James, is there a good place to eat around here? I realise I haven’t eaten since breakfast and I’m quite hungry.” You asked innocently and you swore you saw his eyes shine with unshed tears.

“Yeah, just over here actually.” he replied stealthily wiping his eyes. “My friend and I always used to come here after the movies. They serve a mean bagel.” You smiled up at him and James led you across the road and held the door open for you. What a gentleman.

Sliding into a booth at the back you allowed James, or as you were fairly sure Bucky, to order for you. You were sure that the bagel you’d eaten was brilliant but you don’t actually remember what it tasted like, being too busy watching Bucky to notice the taste. You sat in the booth for a good two hours talking of this and that. He had a wicked sense of humour and the stories he told of his childhood set you both laughing.

“Thanks for today Bucky. I reckon I know my way around now.” you said smiling up at him not noticing your slip up. Bucky however had and his face fell when you called him by his nickname. He immediately became distant and moved to get up.

“Wait, sorry,” you said with a slight shrug, “I figured it out. If it makes you feel better it took me a while.”

Bucky nodded at your answer but his face was now guarded. You could see a war battling behind his eyes and you hoped you hadn’t scared him away.

“How did I give it away?” he asked eventually not looking at you and instead staring at his hands.

“Your glove was the first hint along with your stories and the fact we’re in Brooklyn. It was the cinema that was the give away. Oh and that.” You finished pointing at something behind him. Turning Bucky couldn’t help the smile that spread across his face or the laugh that escaped his lips as he looked at the photo-wall behind him. By his left ear was a black and white photo of him and a very scrawny Steve Rogers smiling giddily with sauce all over their faces. Shaking his head he turned to you and was surprised to see a smile on your face too.

“I guess that is a bit of a giveaway huh?” he joked his eyes much lighter than before.

“Just a bit,” you sassed back as you stood up and gestured towards the door. Bucky chuckled deeply and got out of the booth. You followed him over to the counter and watched gladly as he managed to persuade the waitress to allow him to take the photo home. Once out of the diner Bucky asked if you knew your way home and when you replied with an embarrassed no, you gave Bucky your address. Bucky confirmed your suspicions when he said he lived in the same apartment as you. You told him of your unknowing run in with Steve and Sam enticing another laugh from him.

When you made it back home Bucky paused before entering turning to look at you.

“Thank you. I really needed today.” he admitted awkwardly. You understood what he meant and so placed a hand reassuringly on his left arm. You couldn’t imagine what he’d experienced so you were happy to help. The fact that he was a stunningly handsome gentleman was completely beside the point.

Again trying to lighten the mood you replied “I’m fairly sure I should be thanking you shouldn’t I?”

“I was happy to help.” Bucky smiled in return before adding. “I mean it though, thank you giving me a chance.”

“It’s not everyday I meet a gentleman. I was more than happy to have my own personal tour guide” you sassed back

You brushed past Bucky and started up the stairs to your apartment leaving a smiling Bucky behind you. Bucky followed you up and stopped one floor below you to find his door already open and a smirking Steve Rogers leaning against the doorway. Easily able to read the emotions playing out in Bucky’s head Steve pointed towards the roof and the sound of you unlocking your door.

“y/n! Wait!” he called out sprinting up the stairs.

“Bucky? Everything alright?” you asked looking past him in confusion.

“I just, ah, remembered that, ah,” Bucky inhaled slowly regaining his courage before looking you straight in the eye. “I forgot to show you the best part of Brooklyn today and was wondering if you’d accompany me to Coney Island tomorrow night?”

You looked the now nervous super soldier up and down before smirking and asking, “James, are you asking me on a date?” When he didn’t reply you continued, “because if you were, I’d say yes.”

Bucky’s face lit up and you laughed when he replied, “yes doll, yes I am.”

“Then I guess I’ll be seeing you tomorrow then.”

One floor below you Steve slapped Sam on the back and you could have sworn you heard the coloured man mumble, “dammit Barnes, I was going to ask her.”

Promt: Lucy comes back to town and hangs out with Alex a lot and Maggie gets super jealous. I just need the angst😂

A week long mandatory training seminar in Gotham had only been made worse by flight delays. At one point, Maggie had braced herself for another day of not seeing Alex. Thankfully, things worked out and she was on the first available flight back to National City and, desperate to see her girl, she headed straight to the gaylien bar, suitcase still in tow.

Her eyes instantly landed on Alex as she entered, then fell on the beautiful brunette she was chatting to. The girl was small, about her height, but her sleeveless top showed arms that could pack a punch. She was smiling widely as she laughed, as Alex laughed too, both oblivious to Maggie’s arrival. Why wouldn’t they be? They were in their own little world, laughing, standing so close to each other that their hips were practically grazing each other’s and the girl, whoever she was, kept playfully slapping Alex’s arm.

It hurt to watch. This girl, whoever the hell she was, had had more physical contact with Alex in five seconds than Maggie had had in days.

Alex looked up as she heard the suitcase being rolled over. ‘Hey b–.’

Maggie cut her off, cupping her cheeks and going in for long, long kiss.

‘Whoa, hey, hi, I missed you too,’ Alex said breathlessly as she finally pulled away, smiling, her hands slipping down from Maggie’s elbows, to her waist.

‘Missed you more,’ Maggie grinned, kissing Alex again, unable to help herself, especially after being deprived for the past couple of days. FaceTime was great but it only offered so much. It didn’t offer the warmth that always radiated from Alex, or the sweet scent of Alex’s perfume or how soft and tenderly Alex always held her. That was what she had missed the most. That was what she craved the most and Maggie couldn’t help herself as she wrapped her arms around Alex and nestled her head into her girlfriend’s neck.

‘Yikes, you two really need to get a room,’ the mystery brunette remarked, the comment infuriating Maggie even more. They needed to get a room? After how she was flirting with Alex? ‘I mean Kara told me all about you two, but this is a whole other level.’

Wait, Kara?

Alex laughed and slipped her arm around Maggie’s shoulders, manoeuvring her to her side. ‘Yeah, yeah, whatever I don’t care. Maggie, this is Lucy, we used to work together.’

Oh. Lucy.

Lucy extended a hand. ‘Nice to finally meet you, Maggie. I heard a lot about you.’

‘All good I hope?’ Maggie asked with a nervous laugh as she shook the woman’s hand, hoping to God that her impromptu show of affection just mere seconds ago came off as cute, rather than possessive.

‘Exceptionally good. I was starting to think that you couldn’t possibly be real. But nope, here you are. Real and just as gorgeous as I’ve been told.’

Gorgeous. The word made Maggie blush and look down awkwardly at the floor for a split second, flustered and not quite sure how to respond, both at Lucy’s compliment and at how Alex had obviously been gushing about her behind her back.

‘Watch your mouth, Lane. That’s my girlfriend you’re talking about,’ Alex remarked.

‘C’mon, Danvers. Look at her. I thought you were exaggerating when you described her but, evidently, I was wrong.’

‘Sorry, Maggie, I think I introduced her wrong. This is Lucy, the world’s biggest flirt.’

‘She notices that now; you know after all that time I spent flirting with her. So tell me, Maggie. What’s your secret? How did you land Alex Danvers?’

‘She rocked up to my crime scene and fell in love with me.’

Alex pouted. ‘My crime scene. It was my crime scene.’

Lucy looked at Maggie for clarification. ‘Were you there first?’

‘Yep.’

‘And you had jurisdiction?’

‘My precinct covers the airport, yes.’

Lucy shrugged and patted Alex’s arm sympathetically. ‘Sorry Danvers. I’d say it was her crime scene.’

‘I liked it better when you weren’t in town,’ Alex muttered.

#SanversWeek Day 3

Today is day 3 of @queercapwriting ‘s #Sanvers week!! (tbh, this prompt kicked my butt and my writing wasn’t agreeing with me today so, here’s something that not many people on Tumblr have seen. I hope it’s okay that I didn’t write it for #SanversWeek specifically) Today’s prompt is: “You’re drunk.” ft. nb!Maggie

Maggie’s staring.

They’ve been staring at the mysterious brunette since they’ve gotten to the bar. She’s new. She has to be new.

Maggie’s first case on the NCPD, breaking up a bar fight, had happened at this very bar. They’ve known every staff member, making sure to keep the environment safe, protecting the first real friend they’ve made since arriving there. So, she knows or knew each of the staff in Dollywood. They even went out of their way to get to know most of the customers, recognizing the feeling of loneliness in the stories of fleeing planets and escaping the famine that the nicer aliens share with them.

They should know who this new waitress is.
