Outfit of the day: #002: MYNT 1792 Pegged Pencil Skirt

I have been shopping high and low for the perfect pencil skirt. My favorite thing about this skirt is the gathering in the front, it compliments the belly unlike others. This is a high waist skirt so if you’re an apple shape like me you may want to go up a size larger for a comfortable fit. I’m wearing a 24W that fits perfectly but I usually wear a 20/22. The navy blue color and faux leather combination is great for the fall season. The skirt is made of a unique blend of crepe and faux suede that offers a soft hand.

One of keys to a perfect skirt is a great waist band. This faux leather waistband is flawless. It lays smooth and flat over your tucked in top. Waistband also holds skirt in place and doesn’t slide down or ride up. Skirt features a zipper and hook and eye closure at center back. I absolutely love the convenience of having pockets on a garment. The deep pockets on the side seams at the waist are my second favorite thing about this pencil skirt. Pegged skirt is lined and lands right above the knee.

Black V-Neck Tee with Dolman sleeves. The plain black tee is a wardrobe staple that every fashionista needs. I got my black Tee from Charlotte Russe+. I loved how thin the shirt was it allowed my skin to breathe through the layers. I purchased Tee in a 3x, basics usually shrink a little in the wash so I went one size up.

Black flyaway blazer features flattering princess seams on front and back. Also has a double lapel adding a very stylish take on a knit blazer. Although blazer is a knit it is very thick and great for the season transition. The stretch factor allows great movement to work especially in the upper arm and back area which are common problem areas when shopping for blazers. Blazer by Kate & Mallory designs is a size 2x.

I have been forever inspired by huge knits. I mean who doesn’t want this or this?!?! Ok, maybe you don’t… But I kinda do… ANYWAYS I also really enjoy mixing textures, like this chunky thrifted sweater with this gorgeous blue leather skirt (on sale now at Hey Gorgeous).

Enjoy! Happy Tuesday!

I love my Easter brunch #ootd, but it is not going to make it to the blog (the cat sticker is hiding a seriously exhausted face!) I still want to share the outfit deets with you guys though. #bbdakota #swissdot dress via #gwynniebee, #mynt1792 Harlem #motojacket (now on sale at @mynt1792 and @madisonplus!), zipper clutch from @nadiaaboulhosn’s closet, bowler hat from #hm, and ballet flats from #stevemadden. Is it just me or are the prices for Mynt 1792 pieces just…a bit…WAY TOO MUCH? $118 for a shirt? Like I get it, it’s designer and it’s “fashionable” but seriously? Or maybe I’m just hating because I’m a broke college student trying to look cute without emptying my savings?

Colorblocking always makes a statement, which means it usually requires some careful thought to get right. This fun swingy tee-like top from Mynt 1792′s spring collection makes it easy enough for fashion math:

Monochrome colorblock top + bold color pencil skirt = colorblocking success

I added an orange lip for a bit more color, but that step is entirely optional :)

OOTD: At Ease

The military jacket is a new style for me, and I wasn’t sure about this one when I first put it on - it seemed a tad boxy. Then I realized that the drawstring at the waist was functional, and voila! Perfect for a chill day of brunch and gift shopping on the LES.
