#89- Sound City (2013) “It all started with this idea that I wanted to tell the story of "the board”. The conversation became something much bigger, like, in this age of technology, where you can simulate, and manipulate anything, how do we retain the music element? How do we keep music to sound like people?“
I was in the supermarket a few days ago,” Grohl recounts, “and this 75-year old woman comes up to me and says, ‘I saw Sound City and I loved it.’ I felt like, I don’t need any of the awards. This is what I need. Someone who otherwise wouldn’t have understood what we’re trying to say but now gets it: 'Oh yeah, it’s people that make music.’ That’s what we’re missing. The sound of the human being.
