Imagine: Hating the sound of too much noise and Eric sees you flinching during initiation; he takes you into his apartment and holds you captive until you explain.
You flinch away as the two initiates in the ring scream, fighting each other. I’m not cut out for Dauntless, I made a mistake. You sigh and turn away from the two bloody boys who were viciously punching one another. You feel as if you’re being watched, you turn back around and sure enough, your instructor and the leader of the faction, Eric, is watching you. He looks a little confused and keeps his eyes on you for the rest of class. Eventually he dismisses the class, and forces you to stay back.
“You’re coming with me,” He commands, you flinch at his risen voice.
“What? Where?” You whisper.
“Do as I say, no questions!”
He drags you by the wrist into a large hallway, with doors on either side. He unlocks one of the doors and pulls you into a dimly lit apartment, his apartment. He throws you on to the couch, you look at your wrist, bruises were already forming, “Why did you bring me here?”
“W-what do you mean?”
“I saw you during training, you were scared. Are you afraid of fight? Or was it the blood?”
“I-it was nothing, I wasn’t afraid,” You say confidently, you weren’t lying; you weren’t afraid, you just didn’t like noise.
“I saw you, you couldn’t even face them, you were scared.”
“I wasn’t scared, even if I was, why do you care?”
“Because you’re Dauntless, you’re not supposed to be scared,” He turns away, “But if you’re not going to tell me anything, then you can stay in here until you do.”
“B-but,” Before you can protest he walks into the kitchen. He can’t possibly keep me in here, that should against the rules.
After making some dinner for both of you, Eric went into his office, and had been in there for almost 3 hours, you spent those three hours awkwardly sitting on his couch. He finally gets out of his office to prepare for bed.
“I-if I tell you, will you let me leave?” He looks at you in surprise, almost as if he had forgotten. The surprise on his face is replaced with a victorious smirk.
“Now that’s the spirit. I can’t have one of my initiates acting so cowardly!”
“I-I’m not afraid, I just-” You pause considering whether or not you should be telling him any of this.
“SPIT IT OUT Y/N!” You flinch back, “You’re doing it again.”
“I don’t like noise all right?!” You cringe at the sound of your own voice.
“What do you mean?”
“Eric, I come from Abnegation, I’ve spent my whole life in silence and solitude, nobody around me around me ever talked too much, everyone spent their lives minding their own business, but here, it’s the total opposite, I can’t stand listening to the rowdiness of the initiates, I can’t do it Eric, I hate it!”
“You’re afraid of loud noises?” He looks a little shocked, and he’s hold back an amused smirk.
“I’m not afraid Eric!” You whisper-yell, “Fuck, maybe I made a mistake choosing Dauntless.”
“DON’T EVER SAY THAT AGAIN INITIATE!” He pulls you up by your shirt and yells in your face. You step away from him, squeezing you eyes shut. He sighs, “Alright, you do have potential, so I’m going to help you overcome this.”
“I don’t know yet, but I will,” You look up at him in surprise and gratitude, but a little bit of fear, “Now get out of here and get some sleep, you’ll be up early tomorrow!”
