my sister went to University of Michigan, which has a humor magazine called the Gargoyle. when she brought it home, it was about the funniest goddamn thing my 12-year-old brain ever saw; I still quote it almost daily. I adored head guy William Schuler’s twisted, seemingly effortless cartoon style, aped above by yours truly (a first!). my sis dug out some old issues a while ago and I decided to have a go.

from what I hear, William got married, had some kids and gave up drawing. JUST LIKE A MAN

My Favo(u)rite Magazine Visits Artist Studios

Copies of My Favo(u)rite Magazine have been traveling around the world and settling in the studios and offices of artists and illustrators! Here’s a collection of photographs of My Favo(u)rite Magazine taken in Toronto, Barcelona, New York City, and more, on illustrators’ desks and in their studios. My Favo(u)rite Magazine is the benefit project created by Jeremy Leslie and Andrew Losowsky to raise money for myself and my family after my serious accident last Spring. It’s a collection of 88 magazine makers from around the world describing (and showing) their favorite magazines. My Favo(u)rite Magazine has become a collectors’ item, but copies are still available from magCulture (order your copy soon!!). Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this wonderful project!
