Work managed to distract you enough to not keep looking at the clock every five minutes. Despite part of your brain telling you that there was no way you had a date with Captain America, there was another part that couldn’t help but to hope this was true. And so, you found yourself daydreaming of showing up to the restaurant and seeing him there. What would you even say to him? What kind of greeting would you use? Would you address him as Captain, or maybe Mr. Rogers, or just Steve?

By the time you got home, you had a few outfit options in mind and made a beeline to the bathroom, taking a shower before you got started on getting ready.

Peter came around as you were choosing between four different outfits you had draped on your bed. He helped you picked the one that was form-fitting, waggling his eyebrows playfully.

“We gotta tease him,” he said.

Truth: Arrow 5x20 Review (Underneath)

Arrow isn’t a perfect television show. To be fair, I don’t know one that is, but I never needed Arrow to be perfect.  All I need from Arrow is a good story.  My frustrations with Oliver and Felicity’s break up, and the Baby Mama storyline, aren’t a secret. I found their break up to be wildly problematic on multiple levels. However, the one caveat I always held to was if Arrow can piece together some interesting character growth for Oliver and Felicity it would go a long way of easing my ruffled feathers. We’ve been dealing with the ramifications of Oliver’s lie about William since 4x08. That’s 35 episodes. We’ve waited a long time for Oliver and Felicity’s individual arcs to come to fruition.

The wait was worth it. At least for me.

Our perceptions of “good story” vary as widely as our perceptions of “perfect” but “Underneath” is a good story for me.  It’s almost perfect. 35 episodes. This road was long. It was hard but, in the end, I feel like I understand. It connects all the dots that need to be connected (and some I didn’t expect) while delivering some real character development that feels earned.

In the midst of the crazy world of arrows, masks, Mirakuru soldiers, 15 different canaries and Barry Allen resides the relationships between Oliver and Felicity

and Original Team Arrow.

These characters, and the love they have for one another, is the sanity in all the madness. It’s the real in the fiction. Oliver, Felicity and Diggle are the beating heart of Arrow for a reason. The love we have for these characters is the reason we watch and “Underneath” returns Arrow to center. It focuses on the love stories that made us fall in love with the show. In particularly, it brings Oliver and Felicity’s individual arcs to fruition and FINALLY merges their roads into one again.

Trust. Honesty. Forgiveness. Compassion. Humility. These aren’t always popular concepts in our society, but they are the building blocks to any relationship. You lose one, the whole house can come down on you. Love feels like it has its own inertia, like it chooses you and not the other way around. And maybe that’s true. Maybe we can’t choose who we love.  However, we can choose how we love.

If you are either Team Felicity or Team Oliver in the break-up- Baby-Mama-drama then there’s probably things about “Underneath” you didn’t like. As for me, I believe there are things both Oliver and Felicity need to learn from the breakup and “Underneath” addresses those things. But more than anything, I am ready for Arrow to rebuild what they broke. I am ready for Arrow to fix it. Are you?

Buckle up. This is, by far, my longest review. We’re going all the way back to the pilot and discuss about five different episodes. This took me about 22 hours to write. No need to comment on how long it is. I am well are.

Let’s dig in…

carried on the breeze [you’ll never find me]

inspired by this post from @stranger-who-writes-fiction

kara has flown myriad out into space,

and alex has gone after her in that damn pod. sure, getting the thing to space wasn’t a problem - reentery however was where things were going more than a little screwy. in no seconds flat  alex finds herself in a falling deathtrap with her unconscious sister draped mostly uncomfortably across her.

this pod was not meant for two.

nor, apparently, is it meant for rouge humans hijacking and then flying it, poorly but still functionally, into space to save their superhero little sisters. yet, alex had done it anyway.

and now, well, with the planet rapidly rising up to meet them, alex realizes the steering is gone. realizes that the best she can hope for is sending out some sort of signal and hoping that wherever they landed…the deo finds them first.

too bad it was going to be a water landing. which, god, that wasn’t what alex wants. any type of crash landing would probably kill her on impact, but at least crashing into some sort of land might ensure kara’s survival. kara who is still unconscious.

alex knows she has seconds left to come up with a plan. she’s feeling a little ill, the pod spinning around and with one arm holding kara to her chest, alex is left to crane her neck over her little sisters shoulder just to look at the console.

her eye catches a red button.

under the console, hidden from the normal line of sight - alex has to wonder if red buttons hold the same meaning on every plant. alex has to wonder why she never asked.

[to be fair, it’s an obscure question, but god, alex wishes she’d had  the foresight to see this coming]

what she doesn’t see coming are the clouds, the fog that seems to be way too high in the atmosphere, plunging the pod and the danvers sisters into a grey half light.

We Are Young: Prologue

Throne of Glass High School AU

Summary: Senior Rowan Whitethorn is new to town. It doesn’t take him long to get use to a new school, make new friends, even join the local hockey team. But it also doesn’t take him long to meet sophomore and figure skater Aelin Galathynius. And it doesn’t take him long to realize one thing; he can’t stand her.

Next Chapter

——————–

Rowan couldn’t help but feel a bit foolish as he stepped into the cafeteria, lunch tray in hand. He stood in the doorway for a moment, eyes moving from table to table. He observed the crowds around him, looking for a head of golden hair.

Relieved wasn’t actually the right word he’d use for when Fenrys invited him to sit at his table during lunch. But he did feel the slightest bit grateful. He wasn’t particularly looking forward to spending another lunch by himself. Plus he thought he was doing pretty well. Only three days into the school year at a new school and he was already, somewhat, making friends. Hopefully when he told his mother this, she’d get off his back.

Though he wouldn’t exactly call Fenrys a friend at this point. He simply seen the Pittsburgh Penguins patch on Rowan’s backpack in the bio class they shared and deemed Rowan interesting enough to talk to. Turns out Fenrys was a Penguins fan too. And that’s basically all it took for him to invite Rowan to sit with him at lunch.

Thankfully, he wasn’t standing too long when he spotted golden hair pulled back in a low pony tail. With long strides, Rowan made his way over to the table. He wasn’t typically a nervous person, but he still tried not to pay too much attention to the other bodies sitting around the table.

“Hey man,” Fenrys grinned up at him before pointing to the chair on his right. “Take a seat.”

8. Fire with fire

You rub your face stretching beneath the soft sunlight that is diminished by the curtain that James has conveniently run closed. A strong feeling of optimism wants to make it’s way in your brain but you resist to let the emotions control you. Yes, it is true that James has marked you as his and that has helped you to overcome your heat but… you have not talked about anything yet and his neck is still intact. There’s no real difference in your current situation than the deal you made with him about your fake marriage. Your heart hurts a little at that thought.

Cutting your thoughts the door opens suddenly and you smile at the figure of James

- Hey… - but then you realize that something is wrong

He, far from returning the smile, closes the door behind him and stands next to its frame.

- Get dressed and come with me - it’s the only thing he tells you

- What? Why? - instinctively you take the sheet to your chest

- When you dress come outside, you have a visitor - and with that he leaves the room leaving you with the mouth open and the heart pounding fast

What??

In less than a minute you put your clothes on and meet with James in the hall, he just starts walking, taking for granted that you will follow him.

Worn to Paper (part 1)

He does not move.

Even as the sun dips below the mountain ridge, with its last flair of light setting the peaks ablaze with the amber-gold that gave Beacon Hills its name. Even as the evening bell sounds from the upper levels of town, finally bringing an end to the constant murmur of the open marketplace. And, yes, even when a snarl of hunger protests his refusal to follow the townsmen to the taverns for supper.

Even then, he does not move.

He waits, and the sky sinks into dusty blues, the first freckles of starlight shining brighter and more friendly than any tavern window. It’s only when the lamp-lighters make their rounds, sluggish from the heat of the day and full bellies, does he dare move an inch. Just enough to chance a look through the window he so precariously perched under all those hours ago. Unfortunately, the room remains dark, so he returns to his uncomfortable position with a silent grumble. He’d managed to wedge himself between the stone windowsill that, while lovingly carved with flowers, is also terribly pointy, and a small, slanted ledge designed for sending rain away from the lower windows. Not many could have managed the squeeze, but a good twenty minutes of silent prayers and sheer determination were all he needed before he settled in for the inevitable torture of waiting.

They Wanna Make Me Their Queen

A/N: Yeah, okay, I have had this fantasy playing out in my head. You drop your backpack on the floor inside your front door. It’s the area that your mum not-so-fondly refers to as the ‘shoe graveyard’ where everyone who comes in leaves their coats, shoes, umbrellas, and in this case, a backpack and a soggy cherry-printed umbrella.

(Y/n)? That you?” Your mum calls from the kitchen.

That’s odd. Mum doesn’t usually get home from work until six o’clock. Shaking out your rain damp hair, you head down the shadowy hallway and into the sleek, modern kitchen of steel and chrome. What you see there makes you gasp.

Mum’s gotten out her best china, gold-rimmed and floral, the ones she’d gotten as a wedding gift. She’s sitting and having tea and fancy pastries with the strangest-looking woman you’ve ever seen. She has pale skin, ruby red lips and hair piled up on her head in an elaborate bun. Small and bird-like, with a stern expression on her wrinkled face, she’s sitting ramrod straight, staring and assessing your every move. She’s dressed in a black cashmere cardigan, and flowing jersey pants, her legs crossed delicately at the ankles. On her feet are black Chanel ballet slippers.

“This is her?”

“Yes,” Your mum answers, glancing up at you with a too-big smile. “This is my daughter, (Y/n).”

“Um,” You say intelligently, glancing at mum for help. You want to ask the woman, Who are you? But you think that might come across as being a little rude. “Um?”

“This is your Grandmother,” Your mother says, waving you forwards. “Your father’s mother.”

“I thought he died.”

“He did, but now his mother – your grandmother – wants to see you.”

“What, after years of total radio silence?” You snort, flinging yourself down into an empty chair. You grab a small finger sandwich, making a face when you realise you’ve grabbed a cucumber one. “What does she want from us? Money? My left kidney?”

Lips pursed, voice clipped, the old lady says, “I can assure you, I have no need for such frivolities.”

“Frivolities? Really? Who even says that anymore?”

(M/n), if you do not tell her, I shall,” Your grandmother says sharply, brandishing a butter knife and heaping a large dollop of clotted cream onto a scone. “There is much to be discussed.”

(Y/n), the thing is . . .” Your mum’s tripping over her words, and you tilt your head to the side as you always do, saying nothing but willing her to continue. “You’re a princess, (Y/n).”

And grandmother nods sombrely along to every word, as though she has to give up her left kidney.

As for you? You take the news remarkably well.

You faint dead away, right then and there.

The worst part about this whole ‘princess’ thing, you think grimly to yourself as you stomp down the hallway of Midtown High, is that you’ve been forbidden from telling anyone. Not Ned Leeds, not Michelle Gonzales, and most certainly not even your best friend, Peter Parker. You’ve just become princess of a small island called Serangoon, have a queen for a grandmother, basically have unlimited power and resources at your fingertips, and you’re not allowed to talk about it. Grandmother had explained – rather impatiently, in your opinion – that if you told your friends, the information would spread like wildfire. You could – and would – be compromised, assassinated like a character in Game of Thrones. This was for your safety, she’d assured you.

You don’t even get a makeover like Taylor Swift in her You Belong With Me music video. You’re still the same old (Y/n), with your frizzy hair, less-than-ideal clothes and the acne scars on your face.

What you do get are princess classes – Mondays to Fridays, 3pm to 7pm. History classes, etiquette lessons, and basically whatever your grandmother saw fit to throw at you. You’d seen the disdainful way she’d looked at you. Because of course princesses had to be charming and graceful, with impeccable manners.

You’d tried to tell her that you had homework, a social life, but your pleas for mercy had fallen on deaf ears.

How is it that a freaking princess can be invisible, you think grouchily, slamming your locker with a little more force than is strictly necessary. The metal trembles violently, then stills, and you glower angrily at it.

Stupid locker, stupid grandmother, stupid, stupid, stupid!

“What did that locker ever do to you?” Peter demands laughingly, sidling up to you, a soft, sweet smile on his face.

Instantly, your mind goes fuzzy, a big useless snowstorm. Your mouth feels like it’s stuffed with cotton, and you gulp. That crush on Peter hasn’t disappeared at all, has it? It’s almost amazing to consider – you’re a princess, who will likely be married off to a prince/duke/king to provide heirs to both kingdoms ( or maybe this is your Game of Thrones obsession shining through ), but you still feel awkward and small around a boy you’ve known ( and liked ) since middle school.

Of course, the only way he’d ever notice you was if you became as gorgeous and as popular as Liz Allen.

If only you could tell the press …

But no.

“Earth to (Y/n)!” Peter’s laughing now, waving a hand in front of your face, his eyes bright and happy. “Did you hear what I said?”

“Um. Um?” You shake your head to clear away the fog. Your face feels far too warm for your liking. “I’m sorry, what?”

“Movie night? My place or yours? A new episode of Star Wars came out, and you agreed that we’d watch it tonight.”

“Thanks a lot, grandmother,” You mutter, cursing your grandmother out in your mind for scheduling princess classes on a Friday. “I can’t, Peter. Not tonight. I’m sorry.”

Peter’s face falls, and you’re kicking yourself for having to flake out on him and this time honoured tradition. For a moment, you think about just caving and telling him – but the resulting earful you’ll get from your grandmother is not worth it.

“I’ll make it up to you,” You say instead. “Promise.”

You glance anxiously at your watch. 3.12 pm. You’d asked Stanley – your chauffer cum body guard – to pick you up three blocks away from school, outside Hunan Kitchen, a dingy Chinese place, and you can practically picture his stern, youthful face as he waits, the engine of the Rolls Royce idling.

“Okay.” Peter’s smiling a little now, and that’s worth something, at least. “As long as you promise.”

Home - Bruce Banner X Daughter!Reader - Part 1

PART 2  PART 3

MASTERLIST

TAKING REQUESTS

Request: Can I request one where Bruce Banner has a daughter he kept hidden but then has to bring her to the tower cause her mom and step dad kicked her out? Tony knew about her and she looked to him like an uncle. She feels unwanted and unloved but it all changes with her new family with the team. I’m needing some fluff

I changed it so that not even Tony knew about her and I hope that’s okay!

Warnings: None.

Words: 2 974

A/N: Oooooh my god I absolutely loved writing this! It’s 100% fluff with a bit of feels if you’re a sucker for broken families :))))))) Read at your own, fucking risk cause as I’m from a broken home myself this is amazing to read. (I don’t care that I’m self promoting my own work just read it damn it).

She sat waiting on the steps leading up the the front porch of her house, her overpacked duffel bag by her side and her phone clutched in her hands. It was mid dusk and the sun was setting in the distance, the sky turning darker for every minute passing.

She had been kicked out by her own mother and her new husband. She didn’t know how to feel about it. Her mom treated her like crap. Ever since Y/N had began resembling her father more and more as the years went by, her mom had progressively began to dislike her.

Y/N wasn’t the usual kind of girl, however cliché that sounded it was true nonetheless. She went freely to a biochemical science class long after school was over simply because she loved the subject. Her room was covered with a dozen of projects made from scrap material she had scoured the city for. She filled entire notebooks up with difficult equations simply for the joy being able to solve them so effortlessly.

Y/N was so much like her father that her mother could barely stand being around her own daughter at times. It hurt, more than her mother would ever understand, to be treated like a misfit in her own home.

His small car rolled up to he street before her house and she rose to her feet, bringing the duffel bag up with her.

They hadn’t seen each other in almost half a year. He was busy with his work, his new associates and dealing with personal struggling Y/N could only begin to understand the difficulty of.

She made her way up to the car and watched as the door opened up and Bruce got out, smiling nervously. “Hi kid.” He huffed, shoving his hands down into the pockets of his jacket.

“Hey.” She smiled back, her stomach feeling hollow from the happiness she was feeling simply from seeing her dad. “I’ve missed you.”

His heart ached by her simple confession. “I’ve missed you too, and… I’m so sorry about your mother.”

Y/N had been kicked out. Her mom had found a new guy who owned a private island in the Bahamas. The second the two of them met, her mom was gone. Y/N didn’t have any choice but to call up her dad and beg for help.

Bruce hadn’t hesitated. All he had ever wanted was to be around his daughter but her mother had prevented him from doing it, and he had always been submissive. When her mother had yelled at him that the other guy could lash out at any time and kill his daughter, he hadn’t argued with her for a second. He agreed if anything, but he loved his daughter too much to deny her to live with him when her mother practically gave her no other choice.

“Don’t be.” She smiled reassuringly, doing her best to forget about her mom for the time being. “Should we get going?”

She didn’t want to stick around her house anymore. It stood eerily empty from her mom packing her things and just waking out the door. Y/N didn’t know what would happen to it, but nor did she care. Few memories from that home were truly happy once and the ones that were involved Bruce in one way or another. She would rather watch it disappear in the rear view mirror of her dad’s car than anything.

“Of course, let me take that.” He reached out and grabbed her bag, furrowing his brows as he heard a clinking noise before a smile began to creep up his face. “Is that what I think it is?”

“The self-running generator I built in freshmen year, yeah.” She smiled proudly. “I use it to power up my computer, or used to…”

He huffed, putting her bag carefully in the trunk of the car. “Believe me, sweetie, you can have as many computers as you want when you come home.”

Her heart skipped a beat at that simple word. Home she had never considered to be the small house in northern Queens. If anything, home had been in school. That was the only place she had felt like she could be herself and where others accepted her for just that. At home, she felt out of place and abnormal and was judged for her hobbies and interests as well as her pure skills both in the scientific and technical field. Coming to a place where people shared her interests and where she would hopefully be accepted sounded like heaven.

They got into the car and Bruce started the engine, slowly driving out on the street and starting their drive back to the Tower. She looked up at the rear view mirror, seeing her childhood house become smaller and smaller before disappearing behind the nearby homes. As it did, she felt a weight fall off of her shoulders, a burden she hadn’t realized she had been carrying. It was the burden of her mother, the constant suppression of who she was. It was all lifted off her back and stayed behind with the Murray Hill house

“I have to confess something…” Bruce broke the silence and Y/N glanced over to him worryingly. She was preparing for the worst as he found herself doing more often than not. “I might have asked Tony to give you a workshop, and he might have done it…”

She gasped before letting out a short groan of disapproval. “What? No, why? I don’t need one!”

“But you sure would like one. I know you, Y/N. You have barely been able to put down a glass of water in your bedroom because you’ve had so many of your projects laying around… I think it’s time you separate where you sleep from where you tinker.” He looked at her briefly from the corner of his eyes, knowing she was indescribably happy even if she objected. He just wanted her to have what she deserved, which was the entire world if he had a say in it. “It’s the least I can do…”

She didn’t like that tone he had to the last sentence. He was feeling guilty and responsible for the way her childhood had turned out. She didn’t blame him for as much as a second however. If anyone had done anything wrong, it was her mother.

“Don’t guilt trip me here. You know I’m an easy crier.” She laughed in hopes to lighten the mood. “Let’s just focus on the present and the future, like how I got the annual scholarship from Columbia University.”

Bruce almost slammed the breaks of the car. Instead, he paid an alarming amount of time looking at her with blown wide eyes instead of focusing on the road. “No…”

“Yes.” She smiled, even prouder this time as Columbia University had been a dream of hers since she first came to Midtown high school and was told that she had a natural gift. She had competed with four others in a three hour long exam-like test and had been judged by a Colombia University represent. When she was sent the letter stating she got the scholarship, her mom had barely blinked. Y/N hadn’t cared however. She knew her dad would have been proud, and he had proven her so.

“That’s- That’s incredible!” He exclaimed, a big smile on his face that he couldn’t get rid of. “You deserve it. You’ve worked so hard for it.”

“I’ve had some help.” She said suggestively, leaning her elbow against the small ledge by the door window.

He glanced over at her in confusion before slowly puzzling it together. “What? The boxsets of build-you-own things I have you for your birthdays when you were, what, ten?”

“Hey, building rocket ship models and creating baking soda volcanos really helped!” She chuckled as recalled building and making half a dozen of those kinds of things all on the same night she had gotten them.

Bruce sighed in content, his heart warm like never before. “I’m so happy for you, kid. You turned out better than I could ever have hoped for.”

“Thanks, dad.” She said and let her head lean against the back of her seat. Bruce let out a short breath, barely remembering the last time he had been called dad in person. He liked the sound of it more than he would ever care to admit.

“Can I confess another thing?” He asked as they made their way into the elevator at the garage floor at the bottom of the Stark Tower.

“You haven’t gotten me something else, have you?” She questioned worryingly as she didn’t want him to spent his time and money on her.

“No…” His voice wasn’t as joyful as it had been and that truly made her worry. Was he getting cold feet? Did he not want her to live with him anymore? “I actually haven’t told anyone that I have a daughter.”

She raised her eyebrows in surprise. “But how- you said Tony fixed a workshop for me?”

“He did.” Bruce assured, looking down at his feet, ashamed, which was far from necessary. She didn’t mind but she was a bit taken back however.

“Wait… Does that mean they don’t even know that I’m coming?” She tried to look at him but he avoided her eyes which resembled his own. “Dad?”

He looked at her upon hearing that word again, slowly beginning to nod his head yes. “I didn’t know if I was ever going to see you again, so I saved myself the struggle of having explain our whole situation to the team.”

That was a very fair point. He could have told her it was because he simply didn’t want to and she would have been equally as fine with the answer. “Then you have some explaining to do when we get up, I assume.” She said as she looked up at the glowing level numbers above the elevator door which surpassed seventy.

“A whole lot.” Bruce sighed, hoping the team would understand. He didn’t doubt it however. If anyone would understand and accept the situation with Bruce and Y/N, it would be the team. They were far more supportive than they usually let show and he knew he could count on them even if he still worried about it.

The elevator came to a stop at the ninety sixth floor and the metal doors moved aside with a ding. The floor appeared empty at first but chatter was heard from further inside, echoing through the spacious lounge area.

Y/N examined the room with amazement. The architecture was unique with walkways and split levels along with highly modern interior. It was such a drastic change from her mother’s house that she could barely wrap her head around it.

As they came around a corner, an area with multiple sofas and armchairs surrounding a low table appeared, the Avengers themselves seated. As Y/N and Bruce appeared the table fell quiet and turned towards them. She felt like a deer in the headlights of a car but felt a surge of confidence as she had Bruce by her side.

“Banner!” Tony exclaimed, rising from his seat as he had sat with his back towards Bruce at first. “We didn’t think you’d make it… And who’s this? That assistant you talked about?”

Bruce took a deep breath. He hadn’t kept Y/N a secret because of her. He wished he would have been able to talk about his daughter and brag about her smarts, how beautiful she was and how well she was doing. He just hadn’t found it in himself to share his largest pride. The words that Y/N'a mother had told him, about the Other Guy being so dangerous in a world with Y/N, had rattled him into silence. It was time to break that silence however. Y/N was with him now.

“Everyone, this is Y/N… My daughter.”

Scott got a peanut stuck in his throat and coughed violently. The rest of the team were equally as shocked but showed it more discreetly. Everyone shared one thing however, and that was their loss of words. None of them could come up with a single thing to say but simply stared at Bruce and at Y/N which stood slightly behind her father.

“Hello.” She said quietly to the team, glancing up at Bruce that was looking back her way but not meeting her eyes once again.

“You have a daughter?” Tony questioned. “You’re not acting like you’ve just found out this fact like the rest of us…”

“I’ve known about her since the day she was born, and about nine months before that as well if I’m going to be honest.” He admitted and looked from Tony to Steve, to Bucky and Natasha. The others were still staring as well. Scott, Thor, Wanda, Vision, Clint, Sam and Rhodes. The only one who didn’t have the same look of pure surprise was Peter.

Y/N…” Peter said breathlessly and she looked over at the teen who she hadn’t seen until then, her eyes widening upon seeing his face.

“Peter?” She questioned, almost feeling dizzy by how strange of a direction things had suddenly taken.

“You know him?” Steve stood up as well, wanting to try and get a hold of the situation and properly get his head around things.

“Our biochemical science teacher, Professor Lloyd, has these optional, enclosed, seminars after hours for any students that have a passion… We’re both in it.”

“We have English and electrical engineering together as well, but why is he-” Y/N cut herself off, rephrasing her own words as she realized Peter was very much present. “Why are you here?”

Everyone looked over to Peter like they were waiting for him to reply. As he hesitated, Y/N’s mind raced as usual. She knew everyone on the team as their superhero personas and most of them had gotten their true identity connected with their alternative one, if they had ever had two to begin with. Tony being Iron Man was probably the easiest one, but she could put a name to the face with everyone else, but one superhero was left on her mind and Peter was the only one left in the room.

“You’re Spider-Man.” She accused and Peter began to stutter in panic, confirming her theory without using a single word.

“Bruce?” Tony dragged out the name and looked at Banner with hesitation. “Does your kid have, you know… Gifts?”

Bruce barely understood what he had been asked at first but then immediately began shaking his head. “No! No, no… Well, nothing that isn’t natural at least, if that’s what we’re referring to.”

“Oh thank god…” Scott suddenly let out along with a long sigh of relief. “I don’t know if I can handle any more super-teens in this group.”

“There’s one?” Rhodes questioned, not understanding Lang’s logic.

“Look.” Bruce called out to gain the attention of everyone again, looking back to Y/N for permission as they both knew that Bruce needed to explain. She nodded, and he understood. “Her- Her mom ditched her… She doesn’t have anywhere else to go and no one else to turn to…”

“You don’t have to explain.” Steve said to Bruce, a faint smile meant for Y/N as reassurance. “Of course you’re welcome here, Y/N.”

Steve walked through the gatherings of furniture where he had been sat and went up to Y/N, reaching his hand out and shaking hers. She smiled back, feeling like she might finally be in the right place.

“We already know each other, so I think we’re good.” Peter said, joining Steve and her with a smile of his own.

“Any family of Bruce is family of mine.” Natasha stood up and also made her way to Y/N. As Y/N though she would shake Natasha’s hand, the spy wrapped her arms around the startled teen for a brief hug. “I hope you like it here…”

One after another, the team rose to their feet, an act of approval that Y/N had a clear place in the Tower and with them. Had she been able to feel that amount of joy and acceptance on when alone, she would have been crying rivers, but she managed to hold them in.

Everyone began to make their way towards her at that point and left the couches and armchairs. Peter held his clutched hand up and requested a fist bump which Y/N happily gave him.

“You’ll fit in just great, and I’m always available if you wanna talk.” Wanda promised Y/N and also gave her a hug.

She had never felt at home, like she was truly meant to be somewhere. Perhaps it was part of her relatively shy and withheld personality, or it was simply because of where and how she had been raised. Her mom had never been supportive. She barely said hi after Y/N came home after school. She might have been Y/N’s mom, but Y/N had gotten ten times the love from a group of strangers in five minutes than she had ever gotten from her own mother through out her entire life.

Bruce looked down at his daughter that for far too long had lived a life so far away from what she deserved that it was almost humorous. He tried think of the advice she had given him, to focus on the present and the future, which to his joy seemed to consist of a lot more father and daughter time. Y/N wouldn’t mind having more of that time. Neither would she mind calling wherever the Avengers were as her new home.

(This is set back in Season 2 when Elijah and Elena talk about Klaus and the sacrifice. Also, this was requested pretty recently, but I loved this requests so much I had to write it immediatly. @iamnotlabeled: I hope it does your request justice. Happy reading my lovelies! )

Word count: 898

Your name: submit What is this?

The birds outside chirp away while the soft drizzling of the fountain outside of the Lockwood mansion reach your ears. Your husband, Elijah, waits impatiently for Elena to return, while you currently rummage through the impressive music collection of the former Major. It seems he had a passion for renaissance music. Who would have thought?

You spot a particularly interesting piece and immediately felt the need to listen to it, so you place it onto the ancient record player. At the song´s very first tunes you feel hands around your waist and Elijah´s chin resting on your shoulder.

Y/N: “Do you recall how we danced to this song in…”

You try to recall the exact date, but it has been quite some time. Over 400 years to be a little more precise. But luckily your husband engraved every date into his mind.

Elijah: “…England 1601. At the English royal court on your 626th birthday.”

He gently tugs at your waist, swirls you around with one arm and then pulls you close, gently swaying with the music.

00. Lance has wanted to be a Jedi his entire life.

It’s his deepest, most sincere and heartfelt desire.

A Jedi is belonging.

A Jedi has purpose, a path and a place in life. A Jedi looks after others; a Jedi takes care of people. A Jedi is a protector of the galaxy. It’s a longing and a calling Lance has always aspired to.

A Jedi is great, and a Jedi is kind. A Jedi is a keeper of the peace. A Jedi has the Force, wide open and beckoning, bright and true. Lance has loved the Force and the Light for as long as he can remember.

A Jedi looks out for others. A Jedi looks outs for their own.

A Jedi belongs.

Lance is going to be a Jedi.

Little Lance, a handful of years old and toddling on tiptoes in the creche, pudgy face smushed against the transparisteel of the creche window. Stubby fingers leave messy prints, watching all the ships come and go in the distant hustle and bustle of Coruscant night traffic. That’ll be me someday.

Little Lance, older, peeking out from amongst his crechemates as they travel the halls. He watches the robes of the great Jedi Knights swishing about their ankles, Padawans rushing to catch up. That’ll be me someday.

Little Lance, sneaking out to the Temple Gardens late at night to watch the waterfall play, closing his eyes and listening to the Force gurgle over rocks, splash onto stones. The soft breeze of the Force through the grass, the flowers, the trees. The Force is everywhere. A pair of Jedi sit in the grass nearby, quiet, heads bowed in meditation. The Force swirls around them gently, a stream in its own right. Lance hides by his waterfall and observes, content. That’ll be me someday.

Lance, even older. Finally a Padawan himself, following at the heels of his Master as they head down to the hangars for their first mission assignment. Looking over his shoulder at all the other Jedi embarking on ships, returning from missions of their own. A hub of galactic peace, in and out, busy keeping the galaxy safe.

That’ll be me someday.

Lance, at the conclusion of his Trials.

Jedi protect.

Jedi belong.

Lance is going to be a Jedi.

01. Lance and Hunk have been best friends since the days of the creche.

“Are we getting anywhere?” Lance asks, leaning on the engine. The sleeve of his robe swings down and nearly smacks Hunk in the face.

Reader x Kol Mikaelson

(NOT MY GIF)

*requested

Imagine: You had just been transformed into a vampire and commited your first kill, which induced you to turn off your emotions in order to help you cope. Yet, being so close to the Mikaelson family, they would not allow you to stay that way for long. However, despite how hard they try, the only one who manages to break down your walls is Kol Mikaelson.

Warnings: lights descriptions of torture, mostly fluff and swearing. no biggie.

I fell onto the cold, hard ground, finally realising what I had done. Blood was spilt across my face and my body, proving it was not just some twisted dream fabricated by my mind to punish me for becoming a vampire; no, I had actually killed all those people. Their limp forms were scattered throughout the dark room, their necks broken due to my brutally. A growing pain took over me, leading to a strangled, loud gasp to crawl out of my lips. The guilt was too much for me to overcome it so easily.

“Y/N?” A deep, somehow soft too, male voice cut through the devastating silence. “What happened here?”

“I murdered them.” I managed to blurt out, tears already streaming down my warm, red cheeks. “I was angry, scared, hungry. I-I couldn’t control myself, Kol. I just couldn’t.”

“Oh baby.” He whispered in a soothing tone, one I did not deserve. “I hate to see you like that! It was a mistake. You’re new, it happens.”

“No, no, no. I ripped these people from their lives. I shouldn't… I can’t!”

“Y/N, listen to me!” My eyes were screwed shut, yet, the salty teardrops kept descending, reaching my bottom lip. “Don’t be so hard on yourself.”

“Turn it off.” Someone else said, coming from behind Kol. “You don’t have to suffer because of this. Just turn it off.”

“Are you insane, mate?” The tall, brown haired man yelled, obviously mad at the proposition. “She’s not going to do this!”

Damon smirked, tilting his head slightly, whilst graciously leaning against a covered with scarlet blood wall. Although it was a entirely crazy idea, my Salvatore friend had a point. Turning my emotions off could be really helpful, for it would rule out of the game all distractions. It would help me develop as a vampire. Plus, if I experience even one more ounce of this crushing pain I have inside now, I would surely break.

For one second I felt everything rushing through me, every bit of feeling, like pure energy was flowing inside my veins, and then it was over. I did not feel a thing. Not guilt, not sadness. Absolutely nothing. Solely void was left behind.

“Y/N, please tell me you didn't…”

A bright, wide smile curled my lips, revealing there was nothing that the mighty Mikaelson could do, except enjoy this new side of me.

“I did, honey bunch.” I winked at him, getting back on my own feet. “Now, if you excuse me, I have a few business to solve.”

“You’re not going anywhere.” Kol stated, grasping my wrist and forcing me to stay where I was. “And Damon, you better disappear before I have the chance to rip your heart out.”

Those words said, it took less than a split  second for the plain white room to get suddenly crowded. Stefan and Elena went to Damon’s side, gently clutching his arms, assuring he would stay in place; yet, they did not come alone, for Rebekah, Klaus and Elijah rapidly approached their reckless sibling as well. I sighed, starting to get utterly bored from this whole situation.

Klaus cleared his throat, moving one step ahead and shooting a fierce look towards the Salvatores. He was obviously not happy to be seeing this horrific scene.

“Alright, who is going to explain what has happened here?”

“Why was Kol threatening Damon?” The brown haired doppelgänger quizzed, quirking an eyebrow. “I thought we had decided to call a truce. For Y/N’s sake.”

“He pushed Y/N into turning off her emotions.” The younger Mikaelson brother said, narrowing his eyes and still keeping me under his tight grip. However, even though this dialogue was annoying as hell, I could not care less about what was on the verge of happening. “Is it enough or you fellas need me to find another reason to be mad at the glorious Damon Salvatore?”

“You mean she…” Rebekah’s voice died out before she finished her sentence and her sibling replied with a weak nod. Man, those people were simply pathetic! “Let’s go home, then. We need to get Y/N back as soon as possible.”

Ultimately, I pushed Kol’s hand away from my upper arm and went to the centre of the room, staring each person standing in there. They had quickly formed a circle around me, perhaps thinking they could avoid my escape. Fools.

I chuckled, sustaining their strong glances at me and crossing my arms on my chest.

“Uh, if I may have a say on my own life, I don’t want to turn back on. I’m actually feeling pretty good the way I am.”

“I’m sorry, love, but you have no idea what you want right now.”

“Out of everyone, Klaus, I really thought you would appreciate this new version of me.” Licking my lips, I walked smoothly to where the Hybrid was whilst hearing everyone’s breathing hitch on their respective throats. “I was obviously wrong.”

“No, darling, you were wrong to get closer enough for me to this.”

Then Klaus, piecing his blue eyes on my own, got hold of my neck, his hands soft on the skin he grasped; sharing one last look, he swiftly twisted it, killing me where I stood. Yet, even though darkness engulfed me pretty quickly, I still formed one last thought: the blond Hybrid was totally right.

The room I woke up to was bright. And amazingly beautiful. Like it belong to a king. Or a queen. Its walls had a miscellaneous set of colours while the expensive furniture was perfectly positioned, like it had been made to that exact spot. The whole thing was simply perfect. However, whatever amazingness I should have been caught into, it was broken the second I realised I was chained up. Urgh, why couldn’t they just let me go? This is so boring!

“She’s awake.” Rebekah muttered, swinging the tall white doors open. “Hello, Y/N.”

“Oh, hello, munchkin.” An ironic smirk lied carelessly on my lips. “Such a nice day, isn’t it?”

“I definitely hate turned off Y/N.” She rolled her eyes, annoyed, yet, I could still see sadness playing on her gorgeous traits. “Come on. I want to try it first.”

“Poor Rebekah, always trying to save the ones she loves.” I said, staring at her emotionlessly. It was odd, though, for the memories of our friendship were still fresh in my mind.  I was not able to care, though. “Don’t you get tired?”

The blonde soaked a small blade in a transparent, thin liquid, right before she dug it into me. I could sense the stinging pain, yet, it was not enough. I smiled faintly at her failed attempt to flip the switch back on.

“Try harder, Bekah!” It was teasing. Oldest trick in the world to get people mad. The ones who cared, anyway. “Come on! Fight for me.”

“God, you are such a spoilt brat!” The original snarled, burying the knife deep within my flesh. “Why don’t you obey, for once, the elders?”

“Enough, sister.” Klaus put his hand on her shoulder, stopping her to go any further. “Let me handle it. I might have a better chance.”

“Uh, I feel so especial! The mighty Hybrid caring for me.” A maniac smile changed my traits, giving it a crazy gleam, as he took his sister’s place, removing the blade afterwards. “Well, I should, shouldn’t I? I don’t. I feel nothing. Or does boredom count?”

“Look at me, Y/N.” I raised my chin, defying him by fixating my eyesight on his. “Now pay attention: you are loved. By everyone in this family. We would risk everything for you. Do anything. You’re a Mikaelson just as much as I am. Why don’t you try for us? Me, Rebekah, Elijah, Kol…”

“Really, Niklaus? That’s the trick you are using? Trying to make me feel like I belong?”

“You do belong, Y/N.” He stroke my cheek, his slim fingers tracing my cheekbones. “You are family. Come back to your family.”

“Nah, I don’t think that’ll break me.”

Klaus allowed a tired exhale to slip, shaking his head. I could bet he thought this was going to be easy: just appeal to her loyalty towards her family and she’ll be right back on track. Not exactly, Nik. I bit my bottom lip to avoid a sneer laugh. .

“Don’t make it so difficult, sweetheart.”

“I wouldn’t if you just let me go.”

“You see, darling, that’s not happening. You either flip back on or flip back on. There’s no other possibility.”

“Now what is it? Rage? Or is it pity? Doesn’t matter. It won’t do the trick, Niklaus.”

My last remark had done it for the Hybrid, because the anger within his irises announced what he was going to do next: snap my neck. For the second time. It must be my lucky day.

Simply marvellous!

“Are you awake now, love?” Someone questioned, tenderly massaging my arms, bringing me to a rather spinning reality. I blinked quickly, adjusting to the new found darkness. “Are you okay?”

“I am fine. Perfectly fine.” My voice sounded hoarse, probably due to the hours I spent “asleep”.”I imagined you would be their last resource. The reckless Mikaelson. My boyfriend, or is it ex? I don’t quite know.”

“Oh dear, it’s going to take a lot more than a humanity switch off for you to get rid of me.” He chuckled, bitterly. “I didn’t come here to convince you that this is wrong. I’m afraid you already are aware of it.”

“Then what?” I whispered, fighting against the tiredness. It was getting harder and harder to not feel anything. The emotions were scraping the walls of my head, crawling back to where they belonged. Nevertheless, I would not allow them to surface it. No. Never. “What do you want, mighty Mikaelson? Torture me some more? See if you, out of everyone, can make me flip back on?”

“Nah, I just want to talk to you.”

“Care to be more specific, sweetheart?”

“I want to tell you a story.” He clarified in a smooth tone, his lips dangerously close to mine. His mint scented breath fanning all over my face, making me want to kiss him, to taste that mouth. Urgh. “About a relationship I had in the past.”

“Oh, I see. You do want to bore to death.”

“Quit being a brat and listen!”

“Fine.” A soft sigh escaped as I nodded, agreeing. “Go on.”

“Before I met you, I was madly in love with this girl called Davina Claire. Damn,  she was perfect! In every way.” Kol paused, swallowing thickly; perhaps he was struggling with the memories of his old ex girlfriend. “However, when she brought me back to life, it came with a price. I was cursed with an unbearable thirst. I tried to resist! It was worthless, for in the end, she died by my hand. And, God, it hurt like hell! I mean, I had lost the only thing that had ever made me feel something. I killed the only person that had ever touched my soul.”

“Is this supposed to be touching?”

“Oh come on, I’m not finished.”

“Proceed, then. At least it keeps me distracted from this knife buried in my skin.”

“I beg your pardon.” The brown haired Mikaelson smiled, gently, and pulled the blade off, winning a relieved gasp from me. Klaus must have put in back on to keep my blood flowing. “Now, as I was saying, I had lost everything. My magic. My Davina. Then I was bitten by Marcel and put into a slumber.”

“Didn’t you ever live? All your stories end with you in boxes.” The statement slipped and I widened my eyes, surprised. I did not care, why should I be asking stuff?

“I blame Nik for that, but you are right. My life kind of sucked and with Davina gone, it all became pointless again. That was when you, my tiny witty human, showed up.”

“I’m not tiny. Nor witty. Not even human.”

He laughed, clearly amused.

“Yes, you’re still tiny and witty. For me anyway. And I love you. So much.”

“Can’t do anything about it.” I shrugged clumsily, still restrained by the chains soaked in vervain. “This is ridiculous, don’t you see? All of you? I won’t get my feelings back.”

Kol, suddenly, cupped my cheeks, his eyes filled with everything mine lacked. It was hard to sustain the intimate exchange of looks, for tears began to well up on that chocolate sea. If I kept staring, I knew I was not going to be able to resist any longer.

“I don’t want to lose you too, Y/N. You’re the only good thing in my life right now and I can’t afford it. I won’t let you destroy yourself because of a reckless mistake. Because I wasn’t around to teach you.”

I chewed my bottom lip, finally caving in and feeling the energy of my emotions flooding back in. All of it. Pain, guilt, rage, love. Love! I had hurt so many people I loved! How dared I say so many hurtful things to them?

Salty teardrops fell down my cheeks with the realisation of the evil I had performed in the time I spent off. No one should forgive me for what I did or said. I was not worthy of it. A cry rumbled in my chest as I absorbed, bit by bit, the enormous acheness from my previous actions.

“Baby?”

“I’m so s-sorry, my love.” Those words came out mingled, stuttered, strangled. I closed my eyes, avoiding the silky, reassuring look I got from my boyfriend when I voiced a coward apology. What good have I done to have someone so sweet to look after me like him? “The pain… It took over me. Made me do things. I thought I was going to break!”

“Hush, sweetheart.” His warm digits silenced me, resting against my mouth delicately. “First let me get you out of these chains.”

“How can you trust me, Kol?”

“We’ve been together for a while now and I got to know your eyes, those sweet Y/E/C eyes, very well. I know when you’re lying.” He broke the iron that held me up, which lead to a clumsily stumble, for I was unable to stand on my feet properly. The brown eyed Mikaelson picked me up, carefully placing me on his toned arms as if I weighed nothing. “Thank you for coming back to me. I don’t what I’d do without you.”

“Oh, Kol.” A goofy sigh slipped. “I will always come back to you.”

“Always?”

“Always.”

Afterwards, a smirk still enlightening his traits, he stole a kiss from my lips. It was just a peck, yet, it made me feel warmer. Of course my guilt, self loathing, hate, the whole package, remained, nonetheless Kol managed to shake it all off, forcing me to concentrate on the present and, for now, that was all I needed.

Thor had watched his brother for what seemed like hours sit there in that room with her. The machine beeped, noting that Loki’s fiancé, (Y/N), was still alive. Thor couldn’t see Loki, but he could see his back jolting up and down from all the sobbing he was doing. The whole thing was confusing and painful for Thor as well. Thor had no romantic feelings, but he loved her. He loved his almost little sister as much as he loved Loki. Thor wanted to put the blame on Loki. It would be so easy to put the blame on him. Thor blamed Loki for almost everything else, but deep down inside Thor blamed himself. The memory flashed back to him.

“My lord!” one of Odin’s best came running to him. Thor turned around confused. He was having an okay day. What could be wrong?

“What is the meaning of this?” Odin demanded.

“Heimdall spotted him! It’s Loki! He’s alive! He’s on Midgard and—

“Stop,” Odin simply said as he held his hand up. “Loki is dead and has been for a while.”

“My lord, I assure you, this is no trick. Heimdall sent me here myself,” the soldier explained. “You must leave. Heimdall is expecting you.” Odin rose from his throne, and looked at Thor. Odin said nothing, but he gave a disgusted and angry face. Thor nodded. They were leaving for the Bifrost immediately.

Thor followed his unhappy father in pursuit. Dozens of questions came up in his head. How did he survive? Why was he on Midgard? Was he hurt? Should Frigga know? Should (Y/N) know? He let himself contemplate on that question. Truly, she should be the first to know, but he couldn’t even bring himself to visit her anymore. Every time he saw (Y/N) he felt like he has to apologize for what happened. Loki’s death wasn’t so easy on him, and (Y/N) brought back those awful feelings. Thor snapped back to what was happening around him. People were rushing around preparing for what might happen.

“He’s going to come back here isn’t he?” Thor heard a servant say. “He’s going to come back and hurt us.”

“Don’t say that,” Thor interjected. “He’s only been spotted. Don’t go there. He’s not coming here. He will not hurt any of us.” Thor felt an anger course through him. It’s been so long, and people still speak so low of his brother. Leaving the panicked servants behind, Thor rushed to Heimdall along with everyone else who mattered.. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw (Y/N). She looked stressed and exhausted. The ends of her hair were dead. Dark circles were underneath her eyes. She held onto Sif, her best friend, for support. He wanted to say something to her. Her parents had been weary of letting her out into the public. She was often ridiculed everywhere she went. ‘Traitor Queen’ and ‘Loki’s Whore’ were among the kinder words that people said to her. As a result, (Y/N) had stopped her visits to the palace and she no longer attended the balls or events. She stayed at home where she could find some peace.

“Yes, my lord, I did see him,” Heimdall said, snapping Thor out of his personal thoughts again. “He’s very much alive. He seems to be preparing for something.”

“Preparing for something? For what?” Odin asked.

“I’m not sure. Loki always knew how to hide from me. However, I don’t think he is working alone. He seemed to be communicating to something.” Heimdall said. This was serious.

“Father, let me bring him home,” Thor volunteered.

“Bring Loki back here?” Odin asked with a chuckle. “Have you lost your mind?”

“Odin!” Frigga called out. “He’s still my son. Bringing Loki back home is what is best for him, for Midgard, and for us.” Things between Frigga and Odin hadn’t been the same after Loki’s “death”. There was tension between them.

“Father, please, let me bring him home before he does something horrible,” Thor pleaded. He glanced back at (Y/N) who was staring at Odin, hoping for an answer. Silence filled the room for a few moments as Odin thought to himself.

“My lord, I do not mean to interrupt you, but I implore you to not wait on this decision. You must act now. Loki acts fast.”

“Fine,” Odin frowned. “You go to Midgard, and bring him back here before something happens. Understand me?” Thor nodded. Thor went to his mother.

“Mother, I—

“You do not need to say anything to me,” Frigga said to her son. “I have faith in you. Tell him how much he is missed, how much he is loved, and how much we need him.”

“Could you give this to him?” (Y/N) asked Thor. Surprised by her voice, Thor took the token from her hand. It was (Y/N)’s engagement ring on a silver chain. She still wore it. She still loved him.

“It will be the first thing I give him, I promise you, (Y/N),” Thor said and he kissed her on her head. “I will make this right.” Then Thor left. A sense of purpose clouded his mind. Thor did not have communication with Asgard from the weakness of the Bifrost, but he did his best to fulfill the tasks he was told to do. After the devastating events of New York, Thor took his brother home to face trial. Odin felt proud of Thor, bringing his brother home to face true justice. Thor felt awful because Loki he knew was gone. Loki was taken away in chains, and Thor walked off to find his mother, or the Warriors Three, or (Y/N). He needed someone to know how it all went down. He came upon his mother’s garden to find his mother comforting Sif. Sif was sobbing with her head in her hands. Thor rushed over.

“Mother? Sif? Sif, what’s wrong?” Thor asked.

“Thor, you’re back. We heard an hour ago that you were here,” his mother tried to keep a smile on her face. “I must apologize that we were not there to greet you and Loki.”

“DAMN LOKI!” Sif screamed out. “This is his fault! This is all his fault!”

“Sif, stop,” Thor grabbed her wrists gently. “Yes, many died in New York, but you must not feel bad for the mortals. Loki will be brought to justice.” Sif looked up at Thor. Her eyes were red and puffy. She had been crying for a while.

“No, Thor,” Sif explained. “It is not New York I cry for.”

“Then what?”

“It’s (Y/N).” Thor felt his stomach drop.

“No, please tell me she didn’t. Mother visited her every week. You saw her every day. You even told me yourself that she was getting better. She wouldn’t.”

“No, you misunderstand me. (Y/N) did not kill herself. She was taken.”

“Taken?”

“These men. They claimed that Loki had failed to complete his mission. They were taking her as punishment. Heimdall was right. Loki wasn’t working alone. Loki was working for someone else, and now (Y/N) faces the consequences.” Sif broke down again.

“I don’t understand,” Thor looked to his mother. “I was only gone for a couple of days. When did this happen?”

“Last night,” Frigga said. “It came out of nowhere. No one was there to protect her.” His mother’s words hit him hard. No one was there to protect her. Thor wasn’t here to protect his sister. His heart dropped into his stomach. Thor had no anger inside of him left to be angry about this. He was exhausted from the past couple of days. Resentment against his brother boiled inside of him, but that was then. This was now. Thor watched his brother’s movements in the hospital room. Any resentment Thor had towards his brother was gone. Loki had suffered enough.

“Thor,” Natasha approached him from behind. “I hate to do this, but our doctors need to look her over. Loki needs to leave her for right now.” Thor turned his head towards her.

“You do realize you are asking a big task,” Thor said. “That’s like taking a starved horse away from sweet apples.”

“It would only be for an hour. Maybe less,” Natasha said. Thor got up from his seat, and headed towards the room.

“If things go astray, please don’t hurt him. He’s already hurting,” Thor said.

“I can’t make any promises,” Natasha said as she turned and walked away.
Thor walked into the room quietly. Loki’s hands were on (Y/N), gripping her body. Loki and (Y/N) looked exactly the opposite from the other. (Y/N)’s hair was spread out onto the pillow. Her eyes were closed and she looked absolutely peaceful. The only concerning thing was the IVs attached to her, and how her skin was still slightly cold despite being in a temperature controlled environment. Loki’s hair was a mess. Knots and ends were everywhere from him constantly tugging and pulling at it. His tears leaked onto her blankets. His eyes were half open and red. His skin was too warm from the anxiety that pumped through him. Loki did not even bother putting up an illusion; he was too exhausted.

“Loki—

“Please leave,” Loki said. “I want to be alone.” Thor closed his eyes and took a breath. He knew this was going to be hard.

“Loki, their doctors need to take a look at her,” Thor said calmly. Loki rose his head. Strands of his black hair fell in front of his face.

“No,” Loki said, almost hissing.

“Loki—

“I said no. You clearly heard me,” Loki went on. “These are mortals. Mere, stupid mortals. They cannot do anything for her.” Loki’s grip on her body grew tighter. Blankets scrunching up in his hands.

“Loki, they are human and they are more intelligent than you realize. They can help her.” Thor was trying. Loki stood up and leaned forward across the hospital bed. His body was over hers.

“I almost ruled them all in a matter of days. Humans are a fragile race. I do not trust them especially with her care. She is coming back to Asgard with me where she can be helped.” Loki explained.

“You’re not going anywhere. She is not going anywhere,” Thor put his foot down. Loki narrowed his eyes.

“What makes you think you can tell me what to do? Who do you think you are?” Loki hissed. Thor raised his hands.

“Do you not realize where you are? What you are doing? I am trying to help you. I want to be on your side,” Thor explained to Loki. “For once, will you let me handle this and trust me?”

“She is my…” Loki trailed off. He knew what he was going to say, but he couldn’t finish it. It made him angry, and he let Thor see it.

“I know. If I send her back to Asgard, you will not be able to see her. She will be healed with our people, and she will be sent away, Loki. You are serving a sentence here. If I send her back, her parents can and will take her away from you. They will force her to marry someone else. She will live with him. She will be loved by him. She will mother his children. Do you understand?” The cogs started to work inside Loki’s mind. Loki stood up straight, no longer covering her body.

“How do I know if I leave her now that I will see her again?” Loki asked Thor.

“You will. I promise,” Thor replied. “Trust me.” Loki looked back at her face. He let his finger touch her hair once more.

“What happens now?” Loki asked, not taking his eyes away from her.

“You’re coming with me. Their doctors will look at her and try to determine what to do with my help. You will be going back to your holding cell.” Thor explained. Loki shook his head.

“No. I have a right to know where you found her. I want the details of the mission,” Loki still did not look at Thor.

“I don’t think you—

“I still have my powers, brother. I can hurt your loved ones too, especially your lady. Jane is it? Shipped her off to London so I couldn’t get to her?” Loki slowly looked at his brother. Loki knew which words to say to put a chill down Thor’s back. He did have the complete right to know, but the complicated part is whether anyone else would understand.

Loki left with Thor escorting him back to the cell. None of them wished to say anything. Thor was still emotionally tired and stressed with keeping his word. Loki was feeling relieved. (Y/N) was alive and on Midgard. Two things he never expected. He remembered the dread when he found out her kidnapping.

“Frigga is the only reason you are still alive and you will never see her again,” Odin said coolly in the throne room for everyone to hear. There wasn’t much. Just Loki, two guards holding him in chains, and the Queen and King of Asgard themselves. Odin needed to keep this a private matter. Having a public trial of his “adopted” son was out of the question.

“What of (Y/N)? You told me yourself that you would put her on that throne if she were your daughter,” Loki wanted to hit him hard with words. “You value her intelligence, her temperament, and her kind heart. Are you telling me now that (Y/N) has no value here? Is that why she isn’t here? You don’t trust her?”

“(Y/N) is not here because she is gone,” Odin stated. Loki controlled his anger up until now.

“You banished her? Because of me?” Loki laughed. “You truly are an old oaf. (Y/N) may have been my queen, but she had no idea about any of this. I did this on my own.”

“Did you?” Odin almost laughed. Loki narrowed his eyes and shook his head.

“You banished your only hope for this realm. She would have made a better king than you.”

“I did not banish her, Loki,” Odin immediately shot back. Thor entered the throne room, but no one noticed. The tension between Loki and Odin was the main attraction. Thor feared he may have been too late. He would have been here earlier had it not been for Sif.

“Then where is she? Why is my wife not here? What did you do to her?” Loki’s anger rose with every question he threw at Odin. Then it hit Thor. Loki doesn’t know. Everyone in Asgard heard of her kidnapping last night except for Loki. Out of the corner of his eyes, Thor saw his father smile wickedly. He knew his father could be awful, but this was too much. Loki didn’t deserve this. No one did.

“You were never married to (Y/N). She is not your wife. I did not do anything to her. She’s gone and it is all your fault.” Odin was enjoying this. “Last night, there were men who invaded Asgard.”

“Fools invade Asgard all the time. What does any of this have to do with (Y/N)?” Loki shot back. “You’re avoiding my question.”

“They weren’t from any of the realms we knew. They came here and they took (Y/N) in the middle of the night. When my soldiers heard of this, it was too late. They only saw the lights of the ship leaving. Her parents are with Eir, safe and sound, but (Y/N) is gone.” Odin smiled more. He wanted to twist the knife.

“Someone took her?” Loki said, not believing a word Odin says. “Let me guess, they did not leave a single piece of evidence did they?”

“Oh, but they did,” Odin said. Thor looked back at his father. No one told him there was evidence or even a lead to who she was with. Thor looked back at Loki who still held an apathetic face. Then, Thor looked at his mother. She looked beautiful as always. Her long hair and gown flowing, but her eyes held serious tears.

“He left us a note.”

“He? Who’s he?” Loki asked.

“Your friend, Thanos.” Loki froze in his spot. His apathetic face dropped and it was replaced with a shivering fear. Odin smiled, finally getting the reaction he wanted. “He knows you failed him. So, he took action. I believe his note said, ‘She will suffer due to your incompetence.’” Loki’s face went completely pale. It left his mouth partially open, but he could not breathe. Loki did not twitch or shake. He did not move. For the first time in Thor’s life, he saw his brother terrified. Thor watched as Loki’s body dropped to the floor, and all of the chains followed in pursuit. They clanged on the ground as if they couldn’t hold Loki anymore. Loki couldn’t hold himself up anymore.

“You will spend the rest of your days in the dungeons.” Odin said. The guards tugged onto his chains, almost dragging Loki away. His feet dragged across the smooth marble court floor. What did it matter if he was in the dungeons? Loki would rather take the ax. Many thoughts clouded his thinking. The worst one kept repeating itself over and over again.

This is your fault.

That thought followed him through his short time in the dungeons and then onto Midgard. Loki went into his holding cell at Stark Tower reluctantly. There were too many questions unanswered. He knew he had a right to know all of them. Where was she? What happened on that mission? Where has she been this entire time? Loki grabbed onto his neck and the silver chain with (Y/N)’s ring appeared in his hand. He grabbed it and looked at it closely. (Y/N) was never a diamond lady. She always preferred emeralds even before him. Green was her favorite color, and green was their color. So, it only made sense that her ring was a bright emerald with smaller lighter ones around it. He remembered how she would twist the ring around her finger whenever she was thinking deeply. He cast the illusion in front of him.

“What are you thinking about?” he asked the illusion. (Y/N) was turned away from him. Her hair was loose and she was wearing her favorite green dress. The (Y/N) illusion did not respond to him, so he asked again.

“(Y/N)? What are you thinking about?” Loki smiled to himself. He walked closer to the illusion. The illusion was still very quiet, but it was moving around like a ghost. Slowly and quietly walking around minding its own business. Loki followed the illusion, and allowed it to go deeper. Soon, Loki and the (Y/N) illusion were no longer in the cell, but in Loki’s bedroom. Green and gold were everywhere. From the curtains to the floor, everything was extravagant and regal. Loki was used to the familiarity of it all, but (Y/N) not talking to him was off. (Y/N) loved to talk to him, especially about ideas and opinions. Loki could spend all day listening to what she thought of books he hated. It didn’t matter what the subject was, he just loved her mind and the endless thoughts she had.

“(Y/N)?” he called out. The illusion still did not speak, but walked out onto the balcony. The skies were gray and a storm was rolling in. The illusion walked to the balcony railing, and placed her hands there.

“Why did you do it?” the (Y/N) illusion asked.

“Do what, little dove?” Loki smiled. He was worried for a moment there. The illusion turned around to Loki, revealing her half-frozen face. Ice crystals froze her left side and tinged her skin blue like a frost giant.

“Look what he did to me.” The (Y/N) illusion said. “I’m so cold, Loki.” Horrified, Loki took a step back.

“(Y/N), its going to be okay. We-we’re going to be fine.”

“Why did you attack New York?”

“I was going to rule them, (Y/N). I was going to make you a proper queen.”

“Lies,” the (Y/N) illusion said lowly. “You were only thinking of yourself. You only want power.”

“That’s not true,” Loki said. “I want you. I need you.” The (Y/N) illusion turned away, and started to climb on the rail.

“More lies. You keep lying to me and yourself when you know the only mistress you love is power,” the illusion stood on the railing. Loki’s eyes went wide. His illusions never did this.

“What are you doing? Get down, dove,” Loki said.

“You left me here to cry and rot and freeze!” the (Y/N) illusion cried out.

“No, I didn’t.”

“You did,” the illusion started to cry. Tears came down her right side of her face. Loki walked over to the railing. He tried to grab her, but the illusion disappeared so quickly.

“(Y/N)” Loki screamed out from his cell. As Loki screamed, a vibration went through the pipes all the way back to the temperature controlled room where (Y/N) sat up in the hospital bed as if she had just woken up from a bad dream. (Y/N) rubbed her eyes and saw the IVs in her arm and Thor outside her room speaking to someone she recognized.

“Thor?” (Y/N) said.

She walked out of her classroom, holding her geography book tightly in her hand as she was continuously bumped into in the busy hallway. She managed to get to her locker and exchange the geography book for her biochemistry one.

“Hey!” Peter startled her by appearing out of nowhere. She gasped, letting out a sigh as she could have sworn her heart had stopped beating for a second.

She looked to her left and at him. “What are you doing here? I thought you said your English was canceled?” She looked up at the large clock above the entrance, counting it to be almost two and a half hours that Peter would have stayed in school without a reason.

“It was, but I had to do some, eh… Homework - Yes - Homework, which I did in the library.” He was a terrible liar.

“You’re lying.” She stated. “You lick your lips every time after you lie I’ve learned from the dozens of times you’ve told Professor Carmichael that you have a sore throat whenever he asks you to read poems before the class.”

“I don’t do that.” He claimed, his tongue darting out, causing her to chuckle as she began to close her locker and head for the doors out.

“Whatever you say, Peter. Whatever you say-” She silenced herself as she came out and saw a bright orange sports car parked at the bottom of the stairs leading up to their school. Tony was leaning against it, casually ignoring the large crowd of students that had gathered around him to gawk and take pictures.

Both Peter and Y/N looked at each other in panic just when Tony looked up from his phone and noticed the duo.

“There you are!” He called out, the entire crowd turning to look up the stairs to where Y/N and Peter stood like two deer’s caught in the headlights of a car, which wasn’t far from the truth.

Y/N made the first move and slowly began to head down the stairs. Peter followed her carefully, trying to ignore everyone staring. The crowd cleared a small path as Y/N approached, wondering what she had to do with the richest man in New York who just so happened to be Iron Man as well.

“Parker. Aunt May called, she wants you home, pronto.” Tony pointed to Peter before pointing down the street. Peter wasted no time but hurried out of the circle of students to head home. He would have wanted to stay behind, considering how he had waited two and a half hours just so he and Y/N could go home together, but he didn’t want to defy Tony.

“Chop chop, Banner.” Tony clapped his hands together, walking around the car to the driver seat. “In the car we go.”

She felt her cheeks burn red as the car door automatically opened for her and Tony repeated for her to get in. Students still took pictures, some she even recognized from her own classes, which didn’t exactly make her feel any better.

She climbed inside the passenger seat, watching the door descend and close after her. Tony roared with the engine and the crowd moved aside, making way as Tony began to drive.

“How was your day? How are you?” Tony had a quirk to his tone like he knew exactly what he had just done, which she didn’t doubt was true.

“Ehm…” She stared blankly at the road ahead, recalling swinging down New York with Peter, not to mention the situation she was in at that moment. “Interesting.”

“I’ve noticed… You and Parker went on a little adventure this morning. At least that’s what the news channels are claiming.” Tony said nonchalantly and her eyes snapped to him.

“They are?”

Every single one.” He assured, taking a left and leaving the school block. She wanted to ask if he was mad about what had happened, but she was too afraid the answer would be yes.

She cleared her throat. “You said Aunt May wanted Peter home?” She questioned and Tony instantly knew what she was after.

“His parents died a long time ago and he moved in with his aunt and uncle after that. His uncle, Ben, he passed away a few years ago however. Now it’s just Aunt May and him.” Tony explained and Y/N could feel her heart drop. Peter always seemed so happy. She had no idea he had gone through such a rough childhood. She wished she would have known, but what would have changed? Most likely nothing. “She doesn’t know about his whole Spiderling business though, so don’t show up at his place asking for another ride to school, or whatever.”

She wouldn’t. Preferably, she would wait quite a while before she would follow Peter for another “ride”.

“How are you?” Tony asked, his voice a little more tense. It was awkward for him to talk to her, but only because he wasn’t sure how to act or what to say. He hadn’t even known she existed for twenty four hours. He liked her already. She was smart, brilliant actually, and that she was Bruce’s daughter raised in a family that did not support her talents made him feel oddly protective. He couldn’t explain it. His mind had drifted and thought about how it could be because he had no kids of his own, and Y/N and Peter were the only kids around, but he hated to think about it. He felt too vulnerable when he did.

“You already asked me?” She raised a brow, looking over at him as his subtle smirk was gone, looking almost troubled instead.

“You know, I’m just making sure you’re cool. Moving in with earth’s mightiest heroes can be a drastic change.” He slowed down at a red light before stopping.

Making sure I’m cool.” She quoted him, letting out a short breath as she smiled. “Yeah, I’m cool.”

“What? Am I not in on the teen lango?” He questioned and she laughed louder.

“No, no, you’re definitely up to date.” She said sarcastically, looking out he window to her side as they were slowly progressing from Queens to Brooklyn.

Tony became silent, feeling like he should give her some room to breathe. She had a lot to think about, even he could understand that. She was good at adjusting, for her own sake if anything. She was already starting to feel at place with the Avengers and to have Peter as a friend, to sleep almost a hundred floors above the ground and have her own workshop with state of the arc tech.

“Wait…” She suddenly began to think. “Why are you picking me up from school?”

Tony realized he hadn’t explained why he had showed up unannounced after her class was over. “Well, I tried to text you and say I was on my way, but you never replied. I thought you should get a more safe ride home compared to this morning…”

She furrowed her brows and scrambled for her phone in her pocket. As she pressed the home button, she had had a text from an unknown number, which she definitely knew was Tony’s upon reading it.

“I’m sorry. The speakers are broken so I can’t hear when I get any notifications-” Tony suddenly held a phone out in front of her, flawless and something that definitely didn’t exist on the market for anyone to buy. “What?”

“It’s your new phone.” He said and sighed as she didn’t take the phone, dropping it in her lap instead. She quickly snatched it in fear that it would fall. “You have the teams numbers already, access to Friday, a gps system of my own design, screen projection, unlimited data, double lensed camera, a dashing 250 gigabyte of storage and access to the online storage unit that everyone in the Tower has… Need I say more?”

“No you definitely don’t cause I can’t take this.” She refused, holding the phone carefully, afraid she was going to as much as scratch it.

Tony let out an even louder sigh. “When are you going to cut this out? This constant denial of my gifts? In the time we’ve argued about you getting this phone, I’ve earned enough money to make at least ten more.”

She opened her mouth to speak but shut it as she couldn’t think of what to say. It was such an unusual thing for her to received gifts. She had a hard time simply accepting them.

“I don’t know what to say.” She admitted, looking down at her new phone in her left hand and her old one in her right. The difference, both in technology and condition, was almost embarrassing.

“A simple thank you usually does the trick.”

“Thank you.” She blurted out. “Heaven knows I could use 250 gigabytes of storage… But, if you don’t mind me asking, what’s Friday? Except a day of the week?”

“Friday?” Tony called out like she was speaking to someone. “Could you explain to Ms. Banner here what you are?”

Of course, sir.” A female voice came through over the radio, Y/N eyes widening as she stared down at the speakers. “Hello Y/N Banner. My name is Friday. I am an Artificial Intelligence program designed and created by Mr. Stark. I can aid you with a large variety of things, such as delivering messages to members of the Avengers, search for information on the internet and in any unique files that reach your level of classification. Do not hesitate to ask for my help. If your request is beyond my capability, I will do my best to solve your issue with other means.”

Y/N’s lips were parted, eyes still glued to the speakers even after Friday had stoped talking.

“She’s my second AI. The first one was called Jarvis, but he turned into the Vision, so now I have Friday around.”

What?!” Y/N exclaimed, turning in her seat towards Tony as every single thing he said, did or showed made absolutely zero sense or was far beyond what her mind was able to process. “I feel dizzy.”

“You’ve never seen an AI before?” He questioned after her intense reaction.

“Not in person, but I’ve never heard them turning into… Into…” She couldn’t find the right word.

“Humanoid cape dude with a stone in his forehead?” Tony suggested.

She sunk down in her seat, defeated. “Yeah… Exactly.”

“Well, you’ll get used to it, Banner. In the world of superheroes, things are never what you think they are… You though Peter was a normal guy in your school. Turns out he’s Spider Man.”

She had realized by that point, and that was one thing she had yet to adjust to. Her life was going to be a lot more strange with the Avengers than it had been in her little house in Murray Hills with her mom. Strange wasn’t at all a bad thing though. She would take strange over dull and repetitive any day. She had always felt like she was a lively soul trapped in a apathetic life. If she had the option to break out her true self and live an exciting life, she would. If that meant casually discussing how an Artificial Intelligence program managed to turn into what practically is a living thing, so be it.

“Home sweet home.” Tony said after another fifteen minutes in the car, the Stark Tower appearing before them. “I think your dad said he wanted to see you when we got home.”

She had planned on seeing him anyway. “Do you know where he is?”

Tony looked up at her before glancing down to the radio, nudging his head towards it. “Why don’t you ask Friday?” He wanted her to get familiar with how Friday worked, and the best way to learn is to do.

Y/N cleared her throat, looking down at the radio. “Friday? Where is my dad? I mean- Dr. Banner?”

You father is currently in his laboratory, Ms. Banner. Should I tell him that you’re arriving shortly?” Friday proposed, which wasn’t a half bad idea.

“Yeah, do that… Thanks.”

My pleasure, Miss.”

“See?” Tony raised his brows. “She doesn’t bite.”

“Ha ha.” Y/N laughed sarcastically, watching the garage gate open up as they approached. They drove inside, driving to the second floor of the indoors parking lot where she hadn’t been yet. As they reached it, her lips parted again as she took in the sight of a dozens sports cars, all bearing a license plate with Tony’s last name and a number. She wondered if he numbers stood for its place in Tony’s collection, but she didn’t want to ask as she saw some of the high numbers.

“What are your plans for the weekend?” Tony asked as they got out of the car together, heading for the elevator further away. “Because you do know it’s the weekend, right? You haven’t studied away your sense of time?”

“Just because I confessed to liking school doesn’t mean I live and breathe it.” She rolled her eyes, stepping inside the sleek lift. “I’m planning on getting my workshop in order, maybe do a quick drive to Murray Hills and get some of the stuff I didn’t manage to get with me.”

“If you need a ride, please call me and not Parker? Allow your old man to rest easy knowing you’re not dangling a hundred feet up in the air by a thread, literally, a thread.”

She let out a small laugh. “Thanks. I’ll keep that in mind.”

They came to the floor of her dad’s laboratory as well as her workshop and one of Tony’s, if you ignored the fact that they were all practically his. She began to make her way to her dad but Tony stayed in the elevator.

“I’ll catch you at dinner. I have some work to do.” He promised, the doors barely staying open long enough for him to speak. She didn’t linger in the hall however but continued until she came to her dad’s lab.

“Knock knock.” She said whilst tapping twice on the door. Bruce stood by a screen, looking over at what seemed to blue prints of some kind.

“Hey!” His tired expression turned into a wide smile, quickly stepping away from the screen and taking a few steps closer to her. “How was school?”

“Good! How was your day?” She looked around his lab. “Any new, innovative projects going on?”

“Unfortunately, no. I’ve been working with the Quinjet engine today actually. It’s in need of some upgrading and I took on the task of doing it.” He pointed back to the screen. “I may be a nuclear physicist but I know my way around a jet engine or two.”

“What is the Quinjet really?” She wondered, looking at the blueprints he pointed at which showed the aircraft’s engine alone. Bruce then turned the screen around to face them and moved the current blueprint away to show a new one which showed a whole depiction of the Quinjet.

“Woah…” She gasped when the doors suddenly opened behind her, which it seemed to do an awful a lot. She couldn’t help but silently wonder if people didn’t know how to knock.

Bucky came in, a bit startled by the fact that Bruce wasn’t alone. “I- I’m sorry if I’m interrupting, but Tony is busy and my arm is bugging from the damn improvement he did… Improvement, my ass.” He murmured.

Y/N couldn’t help but stare at the bionic arm, which happened to be hanging limply at the moment, but was incredible nonetheless.

“I’m not sure how the mechanism is built up, James. I’m sorry.” Bruce admitted, dragging his right hand up and down his neck. “I barely even know where to start.”

Y/N looked between her dad and Bucky. She thought back to the ride home with Tony, when she had been told not to decline Tony’s gifts all the time. It had also made her realize that she shouldn’t be afraid to be a bit bolder. She wasn’t going to start cliff jumping or go on a spontaneous trip around the world, but she was tired of being so restrained by her own insecurity. She wasn’t living with her mom anymore and she need to realize that. She was allowed to be herself.

“Would you mind if I took a quick peak?” She asked hesitantly. Bucky looked from Bruce to her, raising a brow. Even Bruce was a bit surprised. If she offered her help, it was because she was confident with in the field she was needed. He just didn’t think she was so skilled that she thought she could handle Bucky’s metal arm.

“You’re into technology and science… Stuff?” He questioned. He hadn’t been able to get an impression of her in the short time that she had been around nor had he gotten to know her. That she was gifted with knowledge and skill like her father shouldn’t have been a surprise to him, yet it was.

Quite.” She put it vaguely.

Bucky thought for a minute before shrugging his shoulders, which only ended up being one shoulder due to the bug that had shut his limb off. “Why not.” He gave in and pulled a chair up to a metal workbench in the middle of the room.

Y/N watched as Bucky used his flesh hand to lift his entire bionic arm onto the table, the limb landing with a loud clink. She gathered some tools, Bruce helping her, and took another chair and put it on the opposite side of the workbench.

She grabbed a screwdriver and flipped his arm around so that the palm was up, struggling slightly with the weight. She undid the screws and removed the panel which they had been keeping in place. She was so efficient that Bucky was a bit taken back. If he had been in her shoes, he would barely understand where to open his arm up. She had been able to get that within a few seconds.

“Can I get a screen?” She looked over at her dad and motioned for one of the holographic screens further off. He brought it to her and she used a wireless reading clip to clamp down on the circuit card exposed in Bucky’s forearm.

“Friday, bring up the programming.” She dared to ask, still not used to the feeling of talking to essentially no one. Without answer, the screen changed from blueprints to computer coding. She looked over it, scrolling down a bit before she abruptly snapped her fingers. “Ah, here we go. Easy.”

She tempered with the long and confusing code, adding a small fraction of it that had been missing. As soon as the new numbers had been put in, the metal plates across Bucky’s arm buzzed and moved as they regained their power. Bucky tried to move his fingers which worked perfectly.

“That was fast.” He said and looked down at Y/N who had already begun to put the loose panel back in place. He was surprised, even though she was Bruce’s daughter, she was incredibly talented. She was smarter than he originally had thought and was deeply impressed.

“I went to a programming seminar two years ago by accident and ended up liking it a lot more than I thought.” She confessed with a smile.

Bucky huffed, barely believing that he was looking at a high school student. “I can tell.”
