“Y/N!” Tyler yelled as he walked into my apartment. I have been friends with Tyler since high school so this wasn’t something new.
“In the kitchen,” I call back to him.
Tyler walked into the kitchen with Josh by his side. Ever since Tyler had introduced me to Josh back when he had joined Twenty One Pilots, I had gained a huge crush on him. But, I know he never feel the same so I’ve bottled those feelings up, I’ve never even told Tyler that I have feelings for Josh.
“What you doing?” Tyler asks sitting on one of the stools on the other side of the island in the middle of my kitchen.
“Making a cake,” I say with a smile. I’ve always loved backing every since I was little, plus both Tyler and Josh absolutely love the treats I make.
“It smells really good,” Josh says to me with a toothy grin. I smile to myself as the boys starting talking about the upcoming tour.
“Hey guys, I’ll be right back,” I say to them. I had gotten batter on my shirt and needed to change.
I put the cake in the oven a headed toward my room. I rigged through my drawers to find a new shirt and finally decided on changing into a Panic! At The Disco shirt Josh had given me for my birthday last year. I changed shirts and started to head back to the kitchen. I stopped in my tracks, how ever, when I heard what they were talking about.
“I really like her, Tyler,” I could hear Josh say.
“I don’t care, I’ve liked her since freaking high school. I call dibs,” I heard Tyler say to him in annoyance.
“Why don’t we just tell her then and see who she chooses,” Josh snaps back.
“Fine!” Tyler snaps back in a high pitched tone. I wait a couple seconds for them to calm down before I go over there.
“Do you guys wanna go do anything today?” I ask as I walk into the kitchen. “No, we can just hang out here,” Josh says with a smile.
“Oh okay,” I say to them.
We sit around from the island talking about random thing. But, I cant help thinking that I need to tell them II had over heard them earlier. I stay silent thinking about whether or not I should tell them and who I would choose. Ultimately, I don’t want to ruin my friendship with Tyler.
“You okay, Y/N,” Tyler says to me, placing a hand on my shoulder.
“Huh? Um yeah I think so,” I say quietly.
“What’s wrong?” Asks Josh. I sigh.
“I over heard the two of you,” I say looking down at my hands.
“Y-You did?” Tyler asks with a nervous tone.
“Yeah I did,” I say still not meeting their gazes.
“Well, what do you think?” Josh asks trying not to pry.
“I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings,” I say still looking down,” but, Josh I’ve had a crush on you since the moment I met you and I never told you Tyler because I never imagined the feelings would be reciprocated. But, Tyler, I don’t wan to ruin our friendship.” I say finally looking up.
“I understand, Y/N,” Tyler says. “You’ll always be my best friend. I’ll leave you two to talk. And just to let you two no, I’m not that upset and you’ll make a cute couple,” he gives us a weak smile then leaves.
“Have you really liked me for that long?” Josh asks breaking the silence.
“Yeah, I have. I just really didn’t think you’d ever like me back,” The timer on the stove goes off and I take the cake out of the oven setting it in-between Josh and myself.
“I’ve honestly have liked you for that long too,” he says with a chuckle.
“Really?” I ask not believing him.
“Yeah really. But I never made my feelings for you known because I knew how Tyler felt.”
“I honestly never knew he liked me,” I say going to grab some plates and forks.
“Yeah, he wasn’t very obvious about it and neither was I for that matter,” he says rubbing the back of my neck.
“Oh well, Josh, um will you kiss me?” I say quietly half hoping he didn’t hear me.
Josh stands up from where he was sitting and walks over to me. He looks into my eyes for a moment. He cups my cheeks and lightly places his slightly chapped lips on mine. I immediately kiss him back, wrapping my arm around his waist. Butterflies irrupted in my stomach at the feeling of this finally happening after wanting it for so many years. He parts from my lips and rests his forehead on mine.
“Y/N, will you be my girlfriend?” He says quietly.
“Of course Josh,” I say with a giggle, placing my lips back on his softly. I was happy, this felt right, and deep down I knew that this would last.
