my life is like her movie

The Child In Time

So I don’t like the ending of the new movie Ben C is in. I sherlollified it, and made it better. Enjoy!

Some angst, a happy ending.

The worst twelve hours of her life, of all of their lives. Molly had been at the shops, Rosie Watson hanging onto the hem of her coat while Molly reached for some boxes of macaroni and cheese off the top shelf. Rosie knew to always hold onto Molly’s coat, always. Something must have caught her eye, because the next thing Molly knew, little Rosie was gone. Gone in the crowded Tesco and no one seemed to know where she’d gotten to. Molly had thrust her phone into the face of every employee and person in the queue, begging them to identify the smiling little girl who decorated her phone’s background.

I kinda think it's not right how you and some anons are making it out to seem like Nat has a huge problem with those things and Elise doesn't or something. She said the r-word in the movie. Her character made offensive jokes. Idk. They both took part. I don't think it's right to excuse Nat and treat her differently than Elise when it was both of them

Anyway Natasha has said more offensive things then what was in that film so yeah I personally don’t think she was bothered by it. She also went after that role, they only offered her an audition so she could have not gone if she found it offensive. This fandom has projected onto Natasha that she’s uncomfortable with AA but if anything she’s just uncomfortable with her acting in it

This is why i fucking hate talking about AA.  Y’all always find a way to twist my words and shit.  I can’t have one discussion without people being dramatic and over the top about it.  This is why I have a problem with y’all calling people unproblematic bc suddenly I’m attacking your faves for making a mistake or saying what I feel.

What people forget is that Natasha reads everything. The good, the bad, the really fucking offensive. Elise’s relationship with social media is far more at arm’s length so listening to the AA commentary, it’s not surprising that she genuinely loved that film, found all the jokes hilarious and thinks it’s like the young adult movie of our time. And there’s nothing wrong with that. Art is subjective. Luckily with the Carmilla movie we can just ALL just enjoy Hollstein being gorgeous and in love.

I guess that’s one way to look at it.  I’m really glad Elise is super proud of that film, even enough to post it on fb for her family to see.  It was her first film and she got to work along side her friends, she has every right to feel proud of it and being in it.

I’m done having this discussion tho.  I’m done talking about AA or H*H or anything shitty in 2016 needs to die and never go in my inbox again.

Boy had all of movie history to support taking that failed proposal and making it an awkward pity party about him, and instead he first was like “It’s okay, we’re just not at the same place yet, we still love each other” and then followed it up with an apology and a promise to stick with her until he understands her life struggles. THIS IS LOVE.

the sound of music is so iconic

like

  • the nuns roasting maria in three part harmony
  • ‘the dress. you’ll have to put on another one before meeting the children’
‘when we enter the abbey our worldly clothes are given to the poor’
    ‘what about this one?’
‘the poor didn’t want this one’
  • all seven children bursting into tears at dinner while Maria sips her tea
  • ‘God bless whats his name’ (ten minutes later) ‘KURT! that’s the one I left out! God bless Kurt.’
  • maria passive aggressively praying about Liesl as she climbs through the window
  • tbh Captain Von Trapp dragging everyone around him at every possible moment like
  • ‘you flatter me captain’ ‘oh I’m sorry, I meant to accuse you’ *AIR HORN SOUNDS*
  • ‘I’m not finished yet!’
    ‘OH YES YOU ARE, CAPTAIN.’

    ‘FRAULEIN’
  • liesl rolling her eyes at kurt during the blueberry/strawberry scene
  • honestly the love story I didn’t quite get as a kid but I’m SHOOK
  • when the baroness is trying to get the captain back on track but he just interrupts her and is like ‘there’s no use’
  • BUT WHEN THE BARONESS SAYS ‘well, she’ll never be a nun’ the look of SHOCK on his face like it honestly never occurred to him that Maria was in love with him too
  • so of course hes like ‘I must find her and kiss her immediately’
  • Von Trapp ripping the nazi flag in half like YES BINCH
  • THE MOST UNDERRATED SCENE THOUGH IS AFTER THE NAZIS RUN TO THEIR CARS TO CHASE THE VON TRAPPS AND THE SCENE SWITCHES TO THE TWO NUNS
  • ‘reverend mother, I have sinned’
    ‘I too, reverend mother’
*they both hold up coils from the nazi’s cars*

anyway this movie is the best and I love it

The Signs As Weird Shit My Grandmother Has Done, Part 2
  • Aries: Has a collection of magnets the covers the whole fridge, including one that says "tits out 2016".
  • Taurus: Refuses to eat cranberry sauce because she says it "still tastes like the can".
  • Gemini: Somehow got the movie Coraline confused with the movie Shrek and bought my brother 3 Shrek DVDs, despite the fact that we don't have a DVD player and my brother asked her bring over the BOOK version of Coraline.
  • Cancer: Refers to her sister as "that crazy woman Lanie".
  • Leo: Tried to set me up with my friend Nicholas when we were in third grade.
  • Virgo: Calls my girlfriend "that little Emily girl", despite her name not being Emily. Her response to this is "she looks like an Emily."
  • Libra: Has a CD of early 2000s hits including "Bring Me To Life" "All Star" "Fergalicious" and "Get Low" that she plays in the car at top volume to embarrass my dad.
  • Scorpio: Stands firmly by her belief that the movie Grease is the greatest movie ever made and makes the whole family watch it on Thanksgiving.
  • Sagittarius: Knows every employee in the Walgreens by her house personally. She brings them chili on holidays.
  • Capricorn: Once, when she was a teenager, threatened to set the movie theater on fire if one more person made her go see Gone With The Wind. She will not watch it, to this day. She's seen it 19 times, or so she says.
  • Aquarius: Asked my dad if she could take my brother, who was 8 or 9 at the time, to go see Mad Max.
  • Pisces: Sets her GPS then refuses to follow the directions because she "knows a shortcut", even if she has no fucking clue where she's going.

(1) Hi Viria, I hope you are well :) I am sorry to bother you with this, but it's really important for me, and I wanted to share it with you. It'll be long and kinda sad at first, but it gets better, trust me. I'm a 23 y/o latina art student. When I was a baby, my mom left my dad and remarried, and my little sister was born when I was 10. She is the light of my life and I love her to no end. Our mom, however, had had and undiagnosed and untreated mental illness for years, and one day

(2) during a severe crisis she hurt us really bad. I was 12. She was taken away to a psychiatric hospital and Child Services prohibited her from ever getting near us again. Since then, I have been taking care of my little sister and practically raised her while my stepdad worked 2-3 shifts to afford our education and payment for my mom’s hospital, living and meds. He was always working and I took full responsibility for my sis. As you can imagine, even though I loved her with my life,

 (3) the situation was very stressful and exhausting for me. By the time I was 15, I looked every bit a teen mom. One particularly hard night when my little sis had been crying about mom, I couldn’t sleep. So I turned to something that calmed me: the Harry Potter books. I read them online, and somehow ended up searching for HP fanart. That was the night I stumbled upon your DA account. And boy, did I love it! I know back in 2011 your skills weren’t what they are now,

(4) but I was blown away, and what’s more, I felt inspired to draw. I had never tried to make any art before; it wasn’t “my thing”. But that night, you inspired me. As time went by I kept drawing and closely followed your improvements. Your art was so relaxing, calming, and inspiring, that it really helped me during hard times. You kinda dragged me into all the cool fandoms, series and animes, and I found life to be far more bearable with so many awesome things to love and think about.

(5) Your DA and Tumblr were some sort of safe sapce for me. It always cheered me up and gave me joy, peace, inspiration. When the time came, I choose to study Art at college. It turned out you did too, and you kept up all the good stuff in your blogs. Weirdly enough, I kept feeling a sense of pride whenever you improved and got better. I was so strange that you were so so far away and didn’t even know I existed but you helped me so much.

(6) I got accepted at my country’s top University to study Fine Arts; I moved cities and took my sister with me; she grew into a wonderful, sensible, peaceful child, and her presence motivated me to be the best version of myself, while your art motivated me to keep expanding my academic/artistic abilities. Life was hard but good at college, and I had incredible opportunities. I am graduating this spring with an advanced studies specialization, and was recently hired to work at

(7) of a movie. It’s like living a dream. And tonight, just a couple hours ago, the most incredible thing happened. After dinner, my little sis came to me, phone in hand, and said “Hey Ana, you won’t believe what I found. There’s this girl who makes amazing art of all the fandoms you’re in. Her drawings are gorgeous and she has so many!”. She showed me your tumblr. I wanted to laugh and cry. She was amazed when she saw your old drawings and your current ones; speechless.

(8) She fell in love, and you know what? Immediatly after, she went to draw. She’s been doing so the past hours. I know this was offensively long, but Viria, I needed to thank you for what you did. Your art has always been SO much more than just digital drawings of fictional characters. It’s been the source of peace, safety and joy that so many of us crave. You have wonderfully impacted and influenced many people across the world with everything you make.

(9) I am so glad you exist and do what you do; you gave me the hobby that grew into my passion, thaught me so much, inspired me beyond belief and most of all, you helped make life more bearable. And now, you have made the same for my sister. Viria, the world wouldn’t be the same without you. You are truly a magnificent light among us, and for your existence and passion I’ll be forever grateful. Thank you, and may you always live the beautiful, happy, awesome life you deserve. Thank you.

I’m not even kidding I was sitting here peacefully chewing sandwich and by the end of these messages the sandwich was too salty so was my cappuccino I swear you got me to tears and now i’m just like

I’m a shaking emotional leaf but thank you so much for writing me! It means so much and i’m so touched and i just wish you and your sister all the best of luck, though it seems like you don’t really need it. Thank you, and I hope life goes wonderfully for you and your family!

You need to understand this. The sound of her voice alone was enough to send me flying off the edge. I had spent years of my life wondering whether love was anything like the movies; consuming, restless, boundary-less. It is. And it doesn’t happen forcefully or when it’s expected. It happens in a single, in-between moment. Like when you’re pouring milk into your coffee at the counter of your favourite shop, or when you’re busy doing something else. Anything other than searching, really. And in this single, in-between moment, you encounter her, or him, or whomever, and it feels as though your atoms are colliding at 100 miles per hour. And deep down somewhere, you feel a kind of certainty that you must’ve known each other in a different realm. And your insides go silent. Your heart stays so still you become afraid it has stopped beating altogether, and for once, the voices within your head stop dead in their tracks. It exists. And maybe it happens once and never again, but it happens. And when it does, even though your entirety is telling you to run as fast as you can, straight toward the hills, stay. Stay and feel every inch of it. Every up and down, every whirlwind of emotion it evokes out of you. Because romantic love isn’t everything, but it is definitely something. There are 7 billion people leaving footprints on this earth and you, by chance, have stumbled upon one who is capable of sending chills down your spine simply by the touch of their hand. And if that isn’t magical, then I’m not sure what is.

I made a post about the whole live action Aladdin movie and my girl Naomi as Jasmine but I’m gonna make another one now that it’s official because Twitter is a mess rn and I’m really conflicted about it all.

Here we go:

1) I really love Naomi and if you follow me you know this, and I’ve been waiting of her to get some recognition like this for so long because she’s a really talented actress and she deserves success. I’m proud that she landed the role, she can definitely pull it off and I understand that she took the role because she’s not a big actress and this will definitely change her life but-

2) The cast for Aladdin should’ve been Middle Eastern. The animated film was based off of a Middle Eastern story and the movie itself starts with a song called ‘Arabian Nights.’ But apparently this wasn’t clear enough for Disney when they were casting for this movie. Disney sent out casting descriptions looking for actors and actresses of Middle Eastern and Indian descent. Apparently Disney doesn’t understand that poc aren’t interchangeable.

3) Honestly I blame Disney for all this. They should’ve known better.

4) Don’t come at my girl Naomi with bullshit like saying she isn’t pretty enough to be Jasmine or saying she isn’t a good actress because she is. I’ve been seeing a lot of backlash on all this and while I agree that Disney should’ve cast a Middle Eastern actress for Jasmine, I will not tolerate any slander for Naomi on any irrelevant shit like her looks or her acting. Naomi deserves better than that.

5) While there is definitely a colourism problem when it comes to casting in Hollywood, don’t erase the fact that Naomi is a woc and don’t call her white just because she’s biracial.

6) This isn’t like the whole ScarJo thing with GITS and it isn’t whitewashing. It’s a whole different thing. Disney was the one looking for actors of Indian descent instead of just actors of Middle Eastern descent like they should have, and it’s really their fault that a Middle Eastern actress wasn’t cast. Naomi auditioned for a role that was asking for people of Indian descent like her, but Disney should’ve just held auditions for Middle Eastern actresses to be faithful to the source material instead of making it seem that poc are interchangeable.

7) Disney and the director (who is white) are mainly at fault here. Disney has done a lot of stuff like this I’m not surprised. Also, the director should’ve been Middle Eastern too.

8) I’m disappointed that my girl Naomi is gonna get a lot of hate for this role because I love her and she doesn’t deserve this mess. Again, Disney should’ve looked for a Middle Eastern actress. (WB and DC can y'all cast Naomi and save her from all this pls?)

9) On the other hand (no I’m not defending Disney, just adding some more facts on why Disney made this casting decision) the animated film took place in a fictional place called Agrabah and there were some Indian culture influences in the film (Jasmine’s palace being based off of the Taj Mahal) and although it took place in a Middle Eastern area, the film kinda blended stuff from other cultures and that lead to Disney being unclear about it all and looking Indian actors for these roles instead of just Middle Eastern actors.

10) We’ll have to see if they change the location of where the story takes place to explain why Jasmine is Indian while Aladdin is Middle Eastern. They could do that to justify the whole thing, but for the millionth time, Disney should’ve had the entire cast be Middle Eastern (I don’t know if Genie counts because that’ll just be voice work and he’s not human).

So yeah, I’m happy Naomi is finally getting big roles but I don’t want it to happen like this and it makes me sad. She deserves better, and there’s a Middle Eastern actress out there who could’ve had the opportunity for this role who also deserves better.

Please don’t send Naomi any hate tho. This is mainly Disney’s mistake.

Please please share your thoughts on Wonder Woman? Thank you! :)

ANYONE WHO WATCHED WONDER WOMAN (2017) DIR. PATTY JENKINS AND WASN’T COMPLETELY IN LOVE IS NOT TO BE TRUSTED

Some thoughts:

  • So we all knew it was going to be emotional to FINALLY have a female superhero movie, but the movie exceeded those expectations. The fight scenes were incredible and so focused on Diana and what she was capable of – the men basically weren’t even there. The fuckin no man’s land scene SAVED MY LIFE. Superhero movies are known for being heavy handed and this one didn’t escape that for sure (the love speech at the end was….a lot), but that scene was so well done…they didn’t have to stoop to some Éowyn knock off line of “I am no man,” we were allowed to just see her do what real women do - step up and do it. Even though that wasn’t the first time we’ve seen her in full Wonder Woman costume on screen, it felt like it was, like it was the first time I’d EVER seen ANY hero before and it took my breath away. By far the best Superhero Reveal Moment I’ve ever seen. My girl taking out bullets right and left, drawing fire from the entire German army!! Fuck me up!!!
  • You can’t talk about this film without talking about gender role reversals. Chris Pine was So Perfect and I think they really couldn’t have pulled the movie off if they’d cast any other white boy in the role. He was funny but genuine, capable but never arrogant, charming but not entitled about it. He learned quickly what Diana was capable of and respected her for it, always moving to the sideline during the fight scenes (the shield moment with the bell tower comes to mind - who needs a sniper when you can fuckin launch a god at the shooter??), knowing that these were her fights and never trying to mansplain her out of them. He wanted to protect her, but didn’t underestimate her - all the things that a typical female romantic interest does in these kind of movies. It was amazingly well balanced, so much so that I didn’t even mind the romantic sub plot. Plus he was almost entirely naked there, way to play to the audience my dudes!!!!
  • The historical context did the movie such a great service. The outward displays of sexism became so ridiculous when faced with Diana, who genuinely had never had to deal with the patriarchy’s bullshit before. It didn’t just make the men in London look pathetic and mean, it cast a large shadow over the way that women are treated today.
  • The Dark DC Gradient™ on all the shots isn’t my favorite but it did Chris Pine’s fuckin bright blue eyes a huge favor
  • Gal Gadot was so fuckin good??? Not only was she beautiful, like really really distractingly beautiful, like I kept having to force myself to pay attention to the dialogue cause I, like Steve Trevor, could not stop looking at her (and she’s standing next to Genuine Stud Chris Pine and still?? SHE’S SO BEAUTIFUL). But she was way more then that, her performance was spot on. Diana was naive, commanding, strong, compassionate - while never being reduced down to just a one note version of these things. She felt so real to me, in a genre that spends very little time on character development. Even in the sappiest parts of the script, she sold it. She absolutely sparkled.
  • Some of the best dialogue was the back and forth between Diana and Steve when she’s asking questions about mankind/London - it was cute and funny without being too overdone or obvious, which it easily could have been
  • The villains weren’t much to write home about, but they didn’t need to be. The movie was so laser focused on Diana and Steve that they really didn’t matter, you could self insert whatever you wanted to there
  • Themyscira is the ideal for I too want to hang out on the beach and never see a man again
  • Also that lesbian line, and how stupid male reviewers blindly did not understand it!!! Fuckin drag em
  • But also the fight scenes on Themyscira were INCREDIBLE. I wish that first section had been a bit longer just because I was enjoying it so much, but it was so refreshing to see all women on screen - women who fought and loved and supported each other. Incredible.

I haven’t enjoyed, really enjoyed, to the point of not having to think about the message or the structure or how much fuckin time I’ve wasted listening to some male superhero talk about honor or some equally boring garbage, since The Avengers came out in 2012. Even then, Wonder Woman felt like something else entirely. It leaned on many of the same tropes and sequences, but there was enough reinvention in between (particularly the characters, who I felt were much more fleshed out then any superhero movie I’ve seen before) to make it feel fresh and exciting. This so easily could have been a throw away movie, a chance for movie execs to point and say, hey we tried with women that one time!! But Patty Jenkins, and Gal Gadot, and all the other women who worked on this incredible production, knew what was at stake, and weren’t going to let that happen. Every time I see a little girl dressed up as Diana Prince, on her way to the theater, my heart fills more and more. During the film, I found myself on the verge of tears five or six times - sometimes because it was so beautiful, to see a woman who felt so real being strong and vulnerable and saving the damn world, but other times because the plot itself genuinely moved me. Wonder Woman is revolutionary for the industry, sure, but more importantly, it’s just a damn good movie.

Chelsea ( @opensmother-lippedlover ) and I ( @jessjust ) met December 5, 2012 on Tumblr (Yup, I remember dates well). Immediately I noticed how sweet, polite, and interesting she was. We continued to talk here and there, and making our relationship official months later. We dated for about six-months. Initially everything was great, but the long-distance was awful and we were too young to know how to handle it. We called it off. We went our separate ways; fell in-love here and there with other people.

Years later I was working for the Texas Legislature, near done with my undergrad degree, and with the flexibility to move anywhere. I then realized how much I kept thinking about her, wishing to share the precious memories I was making at my job, how supportive and uniquely proud she would be — and truly how much love I still had for her. Not knowing where she was in life I decided to reach out to her, told her how I felt and she left me waiting (lol) Some time later she finally came around and told me she felt the same way. Well the rest is really history.

(The day she asked me to be her girlfriend)

We left Philadelphia and houston, and we moved to Chicago after I got a scholarship at DePaul Law School, and she began her education to become a Veterinarian. Most importantly we created our own little family with our baby Gatsby, a cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Now I’m proud to call her my fiancée. I would give my life for her.

We’ve had bumps here and there like any other couple, but we love each other enough to fight for each other. That’s what’s important. And why I proposed December 17, 2016 at the art institute!

She may still get mad at me when I forget to place the new toilet paper in the holder and I may still get annoyed when she talks through a movie. All in all, that’s what a relationship is about loving each other and ironing out the little differences.

We want to share our little story with details sometimes left out by the media. With our relationship on the spotlight I hope this encourages others to love and work hard for their relationships ❤️ love is out there, it’s just hard to keep.

(This is an old video Chelsea’s dad filmed of the first time we saw each other again after years apart)

Sisters in the snow

posted by reddit user MCDexX

I remember it like it was yesterday, although it was decades ago.

My sister and I had been fighting again, like we did so often, like I suspect most sisters do at that age.

This fight got more heated than usual. I screamed an obscenity at my sister before turning to storm out of the room, but then my neck suddenly whipped back painfully and I realised she was yanking my hair. In pain and shock, I spun around and slapped her hard across the face.

Elle Woods is just like “I don’t need a back up, I’m going to Harvard” and she fucking works her ass off and does it?? Like people tell her she can’t do it or not to and she just smiles and says “I’m going to Harvard” like she is never deterred and tbh I am now taking that stance in life whenever I get discouraged or something I’m just going to smile and say “I’m doing this”

“my grand plan just you wait and see

so eyes up ‘cause I’ll rise up

bring on any challenge”

Here’s a little Annabeth from the Lightning Thief Musical. She was amazing. Kristin played her character like flawlessly and “My Grand Plan” really felt like Annabeth. The characterization was really spot on. Here are some few highlights of the great Annabeth in the musical on premiere night:

- Percy seeing her and screaming “You’re my dream girl!”

-Percy going “Oh your mom is-” and Annabeth replies with “Athena. Sexist much?”

- interactions with Luke and Grover

- drinking water halfway to avoid the story of how Athena turned Medusa into a monster

- basically wanted get away from Aunty Em until Aunty Em wanted to take her picture and she’s all like “It’s just one picture”

- then when Percy tells her its not her fault she goes “you’re right, it’s yours!”

- “My Grand Plan” more like the story of my life omg I think I died there

- says “no mom I don’t want to go to the movies, I have a quest.. and homework” in her sleep

- the story of how Thalia became a tree

- disarming Luke when he told her to join

- Annabeth Chase being the Annabae Chase is she in the books ( I just really love her okay?)

You could’ve chosen the girl with green eyes and long hair, who loves going out on dates and likes to cook for you, who always takes long baths and listens to music while doing her homework, who loves coffee and peppermint tea, who smiles at strangers and is crazy about sunsets,

you could’ve chosen the girl who laughs like a princess and loves her parents, who reads poems and does yoga, who doesn’t eat meat and smells of vanilla, who is obsessed by sudoku and animes, who would play the piano for you and would adore your big brown eyes,

you could’ve chosen the girl who teaches you how to treat a woman, who doesn’t get angry at you and isn’t jealous at all, who is passionate about photography and music, who laughs at your silly jokes and knows how to get what she wants,

you could’ve chosen the girl who likes roses and “The walking dead”, who knows her worth and likes to play videogames, who would love to dance, especially for you and would love to watch with you movies about super heroes,

but you chose me and I’m still wondering why.
