my life as a medical drama

anonymous asked:

I'm just interested, what was the inspiration for St. Garrison hospital AU? And if I'm already here, thank you for the Jimmy of this au. I sneaked behind a friend of mine once, he was with his gf, and I was like "y'all best not be sinning".

UM i was watching a lot of medical dramas mostly House MD at first and really like the setting and most of the humour that came from it, then thought to myself “this would make a really nice fic, but i can’t fucking write to save my life so imma gonna have to draw it”

then instead of being a medical drama au it became 140% more slapstick cause i can’t stop making jokes

Aliens reactions to humans irrational fears. Like they are so confuse because the thing is not threat to the human but the terrifying human is scared shitless of like a butterfly or something equally as dumb.

-Human and alien comrades on a break visiting earth

-Human is wearing a reddish shirt with black dots. Something random they grabbed out of their closet that morning

-Shortly after arrival, alien remarks that the human is matching the local fauna, and did they plan it that way? Does this creature have any significance?

-Human looks down to realize a ladybug has landed on their arm

-Human proceeds to f r e a k  o u t and get that thing off me ick ick ick

-Alien did not expect this

-Is it dangerous oh no it’s bright red didn’t the human say bright colors are poisonous? Why else would the normally-calm and steady human get so upset?

-Ladybug flies off on its own because it’s a bug and doesn’t need this kinda of drama in its life

-Human now has to figure out how to explain to the alien that the thing is harmless and actually useful in gardens but it’s just that beetles of all sorts are creepy because they just are

-This is embarrassing quick change the subject

-Oh hey alien look it happens to be autumn and we’ve got this fall celebration and there’s a haunted house my family always goes to, I bet you’d love it

-The alien is just ????? and remains that way for a large portion of the trip
For ‘Grey’s’ Doc Jessica Capshaw, Work-Life Balance Is a Total Myth | Yahoo Style

Jessica Capshaw, who plays doctor Arizona Robbins at the fictional Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, says starring on Grey’s Anatomy has changed her life. She’s loved playing a lesbian onscreen but had no idea what her story arc would be when she first signed on as a guest star.

“[Shonda Rhimes] called me into her office and she was really direct. She was like, ‘I want you to stay for another episode, and in the next episode, you’re going to kiss Callie,’” Capshaw tells Yahoo Style, referring to her former onscreen partner played by Sara Ramirez. ‘I’m game to try stuff. So I was like, ‘Yeah. OK!‘”

Eight seasons later, the actress is a mainstay on the medical drama. Her “go with the flow” attitude has taken her character through all sorts of crazy plotlines including the loss of a leg and a recent divorce, which has opened the door for Rhimes to toss another curveball Capshaw’s way: having her heat things up on creen with her real-life friend Marika Dominczyk.

“It was definitely one of those moments when you were like, ‘I’m going to kiss my friend.’ That’s going to happen,” she says, with a laugh.

When she’s not saving infants onscreen, Capshaw is busy parenting her tribe of four. And while she, like many working moms, is juggling a career, family, and personal life, she is quick to proclaim that the idea of work-life balance is a fantasy. Here’s more from this outspoken actress.

What do you love about playing Arizona?
There’s a lot of loss that transcends in themes with Arizona but I think this season gets to be more about finding what she loves and getting to be in a relationship that’s a little irreverent, to get to be chased by someone. She gets to feel the newness of being in a relationship that is physical that is not her ex. And that’s been really fun to play this season. It’s been nice and new and fresh.

Arizona was with Callie for so long. Is it fun to get to play the field now?
It is! This year, my love interest is played by Marika Dominczyk. I’ve known her for quite a while, and she’s a good friend of mine — and married to Scott Foley, who is also a friend of mine. It’s a very interesting negotiation, but we had fun. We laughed a lot. And our husbands have definitely had a laugh or two over it.

Do you feel honored to be able to help fight for equality by portraying this character on a weekly basis? And to eventually teach that lesson to your kids?
I never would have imagined that I would be able to play a character that would feel like it does so much good, whether it’s people who feel like the character resonates with them and it makes their day a little easier to see themselves represented. Or if it’s someone watching it who has someone in their life who is gay and they might have not understood it before and all of a sudden, they have another person or another thing to point to and say, ‘Oh that’s a different context.’ Being able to play a lesbian as a series regular on television has been enormously rewarding.

My daughter goes to preschool, and the preschool has all kinds of families. And I guess one of the kids said, ‘You have to have a mom and a dad to have a baby.’ And my daughter said, ‘No. No you don’t.’ And this was all overheard and told to me later. She said, in a very kind and patient way to that child, ‘There can be a mom and a mom and a dad and a mom and there can be a dad and a dad.’ I am so grateful that she will never know any different, and it will only be if she is in the presence of people who are on the wrong side of history or small-minded that she will hear anything other than that. I feel grateful to have her living in a family that will put her out into the world as someone who understands the world a little bit.

You work long hours on the show but have four kids and a husband at home. How do you do it all?
My schedule is incredibly all over the place. A lot of people, especially who are working moms, say it’s all about balance and trying to create a balance, and I respectfully disagree. I don’t know that any part of my day is ever balanced. I don’t spend equal parts being mom or being a worker, being a wife, being an advocate, being a humanitarian, whatever it is that I am endeavoring to be.

I constantly have to make sacrifices. With four kids, there are going to be that many holiday performances and there are going to be spring performances and field trips and muffin mom. So there is tons of stuff that is there for the doing, and I pick and choose what I can. I find in my own life as a mom, that I always try to pick the things that I actually enjoy because I think my kids see that in me. I have a crazy schedule, and sometimes it works for me to be able to do the thing that I said I was going to do, and sometimes it doesn’t. So you sacrifice sometimes being able to go to the thing or pick up the child. I had much more stringent and very inflexible ideas of what I thought it meant to be a great mom when I first started.

I remember thinking that there was just no way in the world that my kid would ever have a doctor’s appointment that I wouldn’t be there for. But when you’re just starting out, you think things should be one way and you’re humbled that it takes a village. And there will be times when your kid is sick and they need to go to the doctor and you’re not going to be there. But thank God they are still going to the doctor. It’s just so unrealistic to think that we can do it all.

Your youngest is 1. Has it been exciting to return to your pre-pregnancy style?
I never wore maternity clothes, except for a couple of pairs of — yes, it’s true — jean shorts that I wore where I swear the inseam was like half an inch. It was embarrassing. I like myself a pair of jean shorts. I just did a recent purging of my closet, and I’m not gonna lie, there were probably five to six one-inch if not half-inch inseam denim shorts that had to go. I really felt like maybe it was time. Maybe they have just run their course in my life.

Once I had kids, I definitely did start to realize how I’d like to dress that feels comfortable and at the same time it feels current and it feels stylish and you feel like it has an attitude or an opinion. And sometimes you are in your workout clothes until 4 in the afternoon.

Fashion-wise, what are you into these days?
I find that for me, in the summer especially, it’s all about dresses. It’s one stop. You put on your great dress and some sandals. I love almost the entire Ulla Johnson line. They are great dresses; they are easy to put on. I also love finding sandals that go with everything and then finding a pair that have a ton of color that I’m excited to pair with something. I stick with blues quite a lot — light blue, dark blue. Besides blue as a color, I tend to say in the neutrals and the nudes, the creams, and the whites and the golds. I love a button-down shirt. I love a great pair of jeans. And I love a heel. I loved when the block heels came back in. It was so great because they are so much more comfortable, especially when you have four kids.

I have some fellow-mom fashionistas. My friend Marliene Rentmeester has a blog called Le Catch. I get the little newsletter every day, and it’s always got something fun in it at every price point. Unless it’s very ephemeral and very inexpensive, I think at this point in my life, I’m all about the classics. What do you love that you’re going to love for a very long time?

What’s your stance on scrubs?
I count myself among the lucky that I get to go to work in my pajamas. It takes me like 14 seconds to get into my outfit.

Has it been fun dressing your kids?
I kind of live for it. I have a little bit of a problem! And on any given day, probably any of my children are dressed better than I am. They go through their clothes so fast, but I do have to say, I stretch it out.

How did they hide your baby bumps on set?
During the tenure of my time on the show, we went from having real x-rays and real clipboards to having iPads. I used to carry the pads and the x-rays and it would be right in front of my stomach, or I would stand behind desks and that kind of worked. Then the Microsoft pads came out and I was like, ‘I have less room to hide!’ So they had to play with camera angles. But I think if anybody looks at the past couple of seasons, you’ll definitely see when I’m pregnant and when I’m not! Debbie Allen directed an episode one time where she actually used an entire ambulance to hide my pregnant body. Everyone got a very good chuckle out of the fact that it took and entire ambulance to cover me. I was like, ‘Guys I’m not that big!’

I’ve heard that Shonda Rhimes is a huge advocate for working moms.
She is amazing. She understands that every mom is going to need something different. And what she’s been so great about is she goes to the person and says, ‘What do you want? What do you need? What would make this transition and being a mom good for you in this way?’ She’s a godsend, and she’s in the earned position where she has quite a bit of power and she commands attention and understanding from people. And she’s able to say “This needs to be looked at” to the powers that be that might not have been keen on expanding options for maternity leave and childcare. And I think that’s an incredible thing.

Do your kids visit you on set?
I do believe that sets are a workplace and you have a ton of adults, you have a ton of equipment, you have a lot of dust. You have people that are frustrated, people that are joyful. And I’m the worst, by the way. I don’t know how it’s possible but I never cuss at home. I get to work and I cuss like a sailor. And you’ve got words going around. So I am always like, “The set it not a place for kids.” But we all have kids come and visit in our trailer, and I feel like when we are on location, kids always come visit because it’s a park or a building and that’s fun.

Do your kids realize their mom is a big TV star?
People come up and they’ll say something or they’ll ask for a picture and my kids think it’s the funniest thing they’ve ever seen. They just think it’s hysterical! They don’t understand it.

Your mom was an actress. What did she teach you about navigating Hollywood as a woman?
I think the greatest gift that my mom gave me was that I never saw myself as less than because I was a woman. I never thought — and naively so — that I’d have to give up more or I couldn’t do as much or I couldn’t get as much. She has such a strong character and incredible conviction, and she’s done so much and she’s accomplished so much and she’s just traveled so far. I think you have to take it one step at a time. If you find out there is a guy getting paid more than you and you do the same job, then you pick that fight. But it can’t be about everything all the time, at least not in that moment. I think then people get overwhelmed and they lose sight of what they are actually fighting for. I think it’s very important to be organized in your call to action in order to understand what it is that you want to accomplish before you go out there with arms swinging.

I got the energy and the passion to serve as a medic. Right in the middle with the other guys. No less danger, just… While everybody else is taking life, I’m going to be saving it. With the world so set on tearing itself apart, it doesn’t seem like such a bad thing to me to want to put a little bit of it together.

Y'know I actually might be cool if Virgil was the only super mutant in the game as long as the rest of the ones swarming the commonwealth were gone. It does irk me a bit that the Institute had FEV, but I could buy after 200 years managing to recover small samples of it on the surface. Certainly not enough to make a freaking army of them. Plus virgil would've been a much better companion than Strong imo, since Strong is basically a walking meme. But just one of many problems in FO4, unfortunately

Okay, I think I legitemately froze when you suggested the idea of Virgil as a companion. Because holy shit - yes, you are absolutely right?

The Institute obtaining small samples of the virus just a few years ago would also offer a better explanation as to why they are studying it at all. Because even though the game kind of suggests that they used their FEV research to boost the technologies needed to create synths, you really have to dig for that information, and if you don’t then their interest in FEV just doesn’t make much sense - you just have to accept it and live with it. But if they got their first samples a few years ago (Doctor Lee, anyone? This could have been her “payment”, something that convinced the Institute researchers to take her), the interest in the FEV research is a totally valid thing.

And man, Virgil is a character with a personality, opinions on factions, skills that go beyond combat, he even has a personal quest. There are bits and pieces suggesting that he was a victim of workplace bullying. He could have been a pretty cool companion character.

Imagine the part he could have played in Curie’s personal quest. Not necessarily saying that he’d be the one to help her get the new body, but he’d definitely have opinions on it. What would those be? What would he think, watching how Curie changes and adjusts to new, human sensations and feelings, how she enjoys having a normal body and all the things she can do with it while he is trapepd in this monstrosity and is losing a little bit of control over it every day.

Also to consider: they are both researchers, the talks they could have had, arguing about things others don’t get but are - for some reason - incredibly important to them. Because did you ever watch two profs trying to prove something to each other? The world is going to burn around them, and they will still be at it.

Nick! He has first-hand knowledge of everything synth-related, and he may know how Nick’s body works better than Valentine himself. And after a period of initial distrust, Nick might have been the one to come to Virgil for help because “my wires do this weird thing” and “is the blood supposed to be that dark? it’s freaking me out but it’s not like I can go to a human medic and have them check me”. Basically, Virgil becoming a synth doctor.

All the drama with X6. Oh, the drama.

Virgil in Far Harbor would be probably like “I think I’m going to faint, is this actually DiMA? Is this real life? Am I losing my mind in this goddamn body?”

Virgil having idealogical fights with Deacon because Virgil doesn’t agree with the Railroad, and the Sole Survivor being, unwillingly, in the middle of it all.

Virgil knows about what happened to Hancock’s brother and that he’s been replaced with a synth. The backlash he’d have to deal with when/if he told Hancock the truth.

And his ending could have depended on so many details, and little things, and side quests and conversations: because he is totally against you killing everyone in the Institute in the game, and depending on how you maneuvered the fights he had with Deacon, or how much attention you paid to him during the game (thus either making him feel like a part of the group or just some green mountan of muscles that nobody cares about) he’d react to your decisions differently. Will he stay with you? Is he going to attack you, and you’ll have to kill him? Is he just going to leave, resigned and lost?

I… This has so much potential.

Rescued Sedum adolphii cutting as bonsai.

I was attracted to multiple small growth points and the gnarled trunk on this cutting when I found it, soaking in wet mud, but it had some serious issues.

You can still see a few large damaged leaves. The dehydration-marred stem, though It caught my eye, was a sign of a very ill patient. Under the soil the roots and stem were rotting from overwatering. Dead roots mean no water can actually get up to the stem. I removed a lot of mushy black string and started the rooting process over, while chopping the damaged top of the plant to send energy to the new new growth. It was like one of those moments on a medical drama - “I don’t know if this is going to save him or kill him, but…"

After maybe 6 months in a very dry pumice mix, and with plenty of bright sun, I decided my patient was ready for a repotting. An Asian-style glazed bowl, and a piece of leopard-skin jasper compliment the orange blush on the now healthy and pleasantly plump Sedum leaves. The hard life this plant went through are now what give it character.

i’ve figured out my issue with season 13

So I haven’t liked season 13 all that much. 13a was okay and had some really good moments but 13b has just been such a letdown. The thing is, I couldn’t put my finger on why I’m not enjoying it. At first I thought it was because of the lack of Amelia screentime but I loved the show way before she was on it. It’s not because of new characters because we all know if there wasn’t some switch-up everything would get mind-numbingly boring. It’s not even that the medical cases have become half-assed because although that’s disappointing, my investment is in the characters.

My problem with season 13 is that the writers have completely abandoned any sense of balance on the show. The Grey’s I know and love is full of drama and angst and tears mixed in with funny, heartfelt, slice-of-life moments that remind you why you love the characters so much. Season 13 has had none of that balance. It’s been nothing but the drama and angst and tears, over and over again. When you have a show with a mix of ups and downs you get to watch the characters grow and overcome different things, it makes them relatable and human and tugs on your heartstrings in the right way. All season 13 has had is hurt and anger and fighting. No hospital baseball games or baby shower planning, no rock-paper-scissor matches over who has to watch the kid on Valentine’s day or inspirational moments where you watch all of that angst and drama pay off in a moment where the character overcomes or succeeds in what they’ve been struggling for. Just drama and fighting and more drama.

And I mean believe me, I’m not advocating for Grey’s to become a comedy. The drama is what makes it entertaining, but only if it feels like it’s an aspect of a bigger storyline that’s going to be played out. For example, one of my favorite Grey’s storylines ever is Herman’s tumor in season 11. We got to watch Arizona build a relationship with the seemingly stone-cold Dr. Herman while they stole couches from attending’s lounges and attempted to try every flavor of ice cream. At the same time we saw Amelia struggling to find a way around what seemed impossible, saw her expose her fears and vulnerabilities about her competency and living in Derek’s shadow. Arizona also struggled with the possibility of losing Dr. Herman. No shortage of laughs, tears, or medical mysteries. We saw all of the drama result in Amelia’s (mostly) successful surgery and she taught us to “fight until you can’t fight anymore”. That’s the Grey’s Anatomy I know and love.

This season we’ve seen Amelia shut herself away in Stephanie’s apartment, the attendings act like children and attempt to bully Eliza Minnick and April out of their positions, Alex almost go to jail but then suddenly become free. I’m still watching out of hope that it’ll improve, but season 13 better shape up soon or else I don’t know how willing I’ll be to give it an hour of my Thursday night.

Replace the sex in "Grey's Anatomy" with Paperwork, and you have life as a junior doctor.

So this is the trope I don’t get in medical dramas: sex in the on call rooms as (if nothing else), a junior doctor.

Ignoring the whole “professionalism” thing, the logistics just do not compute.

I can’t take two seconds to shovel food into my mouth without getting paged. I try to pee, you can guarantee one of my patients is going to code. Take a coffee break, clinical reviews.

It’s like a law of being a junior - you are the hospital’s bitch. The number of times I’ve been on my way to a clinical review, downing the ice cold coffee I bought and tried to enjoy before I was paged to do some “SUPER URGENT WARD JOB”.

So how the crap can they find time to bang in the on call room?!

Hello! What are your favorite podcasts?

hmmm…. I answered this awhile ago but I’m pretty sure that was before i started listening to the mcelroy podcasts (which, spoilers: make up like 50% of my favorites)

So here are my favorites in the order in which they appear in my podcast library (do not make me rank them I cannot. I love all of these podcasts with my entire heart):

Sawbones - Sydnee (a medical doctor) and Justin (her husband who knows nothing about medicine) discuss medical mistakes through the ages. Very funny, super cute, lots of body horror for obvious reasons.

Rose Buddies - Griffin and Rachel Mcelroy watch Bachelor products. I’ve never watched an episode of the Bachelor in my life, but this is a super fun podcast and Rachel and Griffin are #goals.

The Adventure Zone - The Mcelboys (Justin, Travis, Griffin) and their dad play Dungeons and Dragons. Extremely rich storytelling and excellent NPCs (and PCs for that matter).

The Bridge Podcast - A bridge connecting two continents has some unexpected visitors. Excellent audio drama about the staff of Watchtower 10 trying to survive on a run down, monster infested bridge (it’s actually more human infested, but don’t get me started on that or I’ll rant for hours), and their reasons for being there.

Alice Isn’t Dead - A trucker tries to find her wife, and encounters strange entities and mysteries beyond comprehension along the way. This podcast is the scariest thing I’ve ever heard, and it’s SUPER immersive (Disparition is a god among men).

I’d add Welcome to Night Vale, but if you’re asking me what my favorite podcast is, 99.99% sure you already know that one.

I listen to a lot more, but these are the ones that make me the most excited when they update, so here you go! Thanks for the question!

RK has been going to respite monthly with a licensed foster family since winter. She came back from there two weekends ago and was very off. DH picked her up and said the foster dad was “awkward” when he went to the house to pick up RK.

This past weekend she went to stay with the family she is going to move in with. When we started to pack up her meds, some conversation was had. RK mentioned that the respite home didn’t give her any medication for two days. However, there was no medication left in the pill box which created some questions. Foster mom wouldn’t pick up her phone and said she could only text. Okay. But then she was also very vague in the messages she sent. DH and I sat around on Friday night knowing something wasn’t right, but didn’t know what, and RK wasn’t here to ask.

RK came home last night and basically said that the parents were drinking a lot. That they stayed in a hotel because they were too drunk to drive (they were at a party less than two hours from home), but they didn’t have enough beds for everyone so RK slept on the floor. Too drunk to drive home, but okay to drive to the hotel? Probably not. She also said it’s not the first time it happened, and that she didn’t want to go back.

Good golly! I’m not a big drinker and never have been. We do have booze in the house, but I probably have one drink/month. DH has cheap beer on a weekly basis but we are talking 1-2 at a time. I’ve never been drunk in my life, and DH hasn’t been since I’ve known him (probably 8-9 years). I did question RK a bit to make sure she knew what the difference was between a drink and being drunk. I don’t know what her exposure to alcohol has been beyond our home. I had to report it, particularly as they told RK not to tell. I feel horrible for her but also for them. They have current placements and I have no idea how seriously CPS will take this. RK said they are mean when they drink so I’m guessing someone will press her for more information.

No more respite there. I feel so awful that she didn’t feel like she could tell us. She was supposed to spent next week there so we are looking to find a way to keep her with us without her or DS freaking out (they will both be out of school).

Kai Parker x Reader

WORD COUNT : 2 058

Both Kai and Reader have feelings for each other but none of them is willing to admit it to the other until Reader gets injured…

*not my gif

It was Friday night and Y/N and Kai were supposed to meet at the movies. There was this scary movie Kai wanted to see and she had been more than happy to agree because it meant that during the scary scenes , he’ll hold her hand and pull her close to him. They’d sit in the back , away from the other viewers , as if they are the only people there. Y/N had feelings for him , but knew that he most likely didn’t feel the same way about her , so she kept quiet. Some times Kai would do or say something , making her wonder if he does have feelings for her , but … he never acted on it and she thought it she had imagined it.

Y/N walked down the street towards the cinema when her phone rang.
Kai. said the called ID. She smiled and answered.
“Hey.” she said smiling.
“When are you getting here? ” Kai said on the phone.
“I’m just turning down the street…” she said. “Be with you in a jiffy.”
Kai laughed from the other end of the phone.
“Alright , see you in a jiffy then.” he said smiling and hang up.

A moment later Kai saw her coming from other side of the street and his heart stopped for a moment. It happened every time he saw her. Y/N knew his past and everything he had done and had accepted him just the way he was , even before the merge. Y/N never judged him based on his past instead she supported him and had been there for him every single time he needed someone. He’d call her in the middle of the night or just turn up at her place unannounced and she’d let him in. They’d sit together and Y/N would listen and comfort him. Kai didn’t know how or when exactly he had fallen in love with her but he knew there was no changing that.

Y/N was crossing the street towards him when out of nowhere a car showed up and hit her , the driver not stopping.
“Y/N !” Kai screamed running towards her. Y/N laid on the ground semi conscious. He pulled her into his arms , brushing her cheek. Her eyes fluttered open and closed as she tried to stay awake.
“You will be OK.” he said , his voice trembliing. “You will be OK ….“
Y/N reached her hand towards his cheek ; she wanted to touch him , comfort him but when she tried to speak no sound came out. There were so many things she wanted to tell him … Y/N tried to speak once again , only one wish popping into her head. If this was to be the end for her…
“Smile , please …” she said weakly. “I want to see your smile again.”
“You will be OK , just hold on…” he said , adding a weak smile afterwards.
“Kai , I …” she started to say but didnt get the chance to finish. Her eyes closed and she drifted into darkness./

Kai’s eyes were full of tears as he pulled her body closer to his. He could still feel her heartbeat…barely but still there.
“No , no. Please don’t leave me!” Kai said , his voice breaking. “You can’t die , you hear me! You can’t die , not now …” tears starting to roll his cheeks.
He felt as if air was being sucked out of his lungs , his heart breaking to million pieces watching Y/N’s unconscious body and knowing he can’t do anything to help her. A few moments after , he heard the sirens of the ambulance. The doctors lifted her body onto a gurney and Kai got into the ambulance with them , holding Y/N’s in his feeling her warmth not letting go.
After they arrived at the hospital , Kai spent hours pacing the hallway waiting for the doctors to come out and tell him what had happened. He was barely able to control his emotions , he felt sad , angry and broken at the same time. He punched a wall , bruising his hand but he didnt care about the pain , actually he didnt feel the pain on his hand at all. His heart was aching for Y/N. All he wanted was to take Y/N home , tell her how he felt about her before it’s too late …
After what seemed to him ages , the doctors finally came out to talk to him.
Soon after they transferred Y/N to a single room. His heart breaking a little at the sight of her in a hospital bed.
Kai held her hand and leaned over her , resting his forehead on hers.
“Come back to me , Y/N.” he whispered.“ Please come back to me… I love you.” he whispered , pressing his lips on hers.

Nearly a whole day passed before Y/N woke up.
Kai was sitting on a chair by Y/N’s hospital bed , holding her hand. His eyes were red and puffy from all the tears he had shed. The past few hours had been the worst in his life. He never knew pain such as this existed. It was as if someone had ripped his heart out and sent him straight to hell causing him the same excruciating pain over and over again.
The doctors had told him that it will take a while before she wakes up , but she will make full recovery… tho that didn’t make him feel any less worried. They had had to take out her spleen and she had bruised ribs and a broken leg but other than that she was alright.
Kai brought her hand to his lips , gently kissing her fingers. He felt broken , part of him fearing he’d never be able to feel whole again. He should’ve told her he loved her…. he should’ve told her when he first realised what those feelings meant.
Y/N squeezed his hand slightly. Kai’s eyes turning to look at her straight away feeling a flicker of hope.
“Y/N?” he said softly. “Please wake up …”
A few moments later he saw her eyes flutter and she opened them , her eyes taking in the room , her gaze falling on Kai. He felt a rush of relief seeing her beautiful eyes open again.
“Kai …” she said weakly.
“Shhh … Don’t talk.” he said softly , a smile on his face.
“Where am I?” she asked anyways.
Kai sighed. Even when in a hospital , she never listened.
“You are in a hospital. After that car hit you …” he said , swallowing hard lowering his gaze for a second. Kai was trying hard not to start crying again. “.. they brought you here… How are you feeling ?” he asked worry in his voice.
Y/N looked at him and felt her heart flutter but also break because Kai looked shattered. She couldn’t stand seeing him like this - puffy red eyes , messy hair a , she wanted to hug him and comfort him…
“A little sore.” she managed a small laugh. Kai’s eyes lit up at the sound. “Have you been here the whole time?” she asked , her voice a little louder this time. He nodded.
“I couldn’t leave you …” Kai said. Y/N managed a weak smile.
“Thank you.” she said giving his hand a squeeze.
“Y/N , there is something I … something I have to tell you.” he said nervously. Y/N looked at him confused , fear flashing in her eyes for a split second. “I … ” Kai started to say but suddenly changed his mind. No , this is not the way to tell her. It should be special. he thought. “It can wait.” he said leaning in to kiss her forehead. “You need to rest… and I am not going anywhere.”
Y/N was confused by what had just happened and wanted to ask him what it was about but she was starting to drift away again.
“Is that a promise?” she asked her voice barely louder than a whisper this time.
“It’s a promise.” Kai said , but Y/N didn’t hear him. Her eyes had already closed again , meds pulling her into a deep sleep.

Kai spent the next few days at the hospital with Y/N , never leaving her side. She spend most of the time unconscious due the painkillers , but every time she opened her eyes and saw Kai standing over her , she always smiled. Those were the only moments he felt able to breath again.
Kai had called her friends to come over at the hospital. He had asked them to heal her with vampire blood but when Y/N found out she had said No.
“People in this town have a bad habit of turning into vampires …” she had said. “I’d rather not turn into one …”

After Y/N was discharged from the hospital , Kai drove her home and helped her get settled in.
“I am going to take very good care of you.” he said helping her sit on the couch , elevating her broken leg. “Is there anything you want ? Ice cream ? Hot chocolate ? Pancakes ? ”
You. I want you. she wanted to say.
“Some ice cream would be awesome. Cookie dough and you pick the other flavour.” she said smiling.
“Got it.” he said winking at her before walking into the kitchen for the ice cream. He grabbed the ice cream (rocky road for him) from the freezer and two spoons before heading back towards the living room. “Here you go.” Kai said , sitting down next to her on the couch. She scooted over to him , her shoulder slightly brushing against his.
They were both silent for a few minutes , Y/N glancing at him and smiling. He couldn’t take his eyes off of her , even after everything that had happened there was a glow in her eyes and she seemed happy. Kai leaned in closer wanting to kiss her but he stopped himself.
“Y/N … I … I don’t know how to say this.” he said breaking the silence. Suddenly Kai felt more nervous than ever , his hands shaking and his heart about to leap out his chest.
Y/N left her ice cream to the table and took his hands in hers , looking into his eyes. “Just say it…” she said smiling.
Kai intertwined his fingers with hers and took a deep breath.
“I am in love with you , Y/N.” he said smiling , his eyes locked with hers.“ I’ve been in love with you for months and wanted to tell you so many times , but it was never the right moment…” he paused for a second. ”And then the other night when that car hit you and I held you in my hands thinking you might die , it made me realise how stupid I’ve been all this time. I should’ve told you about my feelings for you earlier. The thought of losing you and never been able to tell you how much I love you nearly killed me.” words pouring out of him. “I love you , Y/N. I love you more than anything in the world.. and I’ll understand if you just want to be friends , I just - … I don’t ever want to lose you. You are the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I want you in my life forever.”

Y/N smiled at him. So he did have feelings for her. Kai’s blue eyes were piercing into hers , waiting for an answer.
“I love you too , Kai. I thought you didn’t feel the same way about me , that’s why I didn’t tell you. I love you.” she said , wide smile on her face.
Kai’s face lit up hearing her words all the sadness draining away replaced by happiness. He tried to speak but Y/N pressed her lips against his , not letting him. He pulled her close feeling happier than he has ever had in his life. She loved him too and nothing else mattered.
"I love you , Y/N.”  Kai said , kissing her deeply.

I was tagged by @dragonjedihobbit to put 10 facts about myself and then tag 10 people!

I haven’t done one of these before, so apologies for basic facts haha 1. My name is Molly, which means “bitter”, but I’ve also read that it can mean “of the sea”, which I love because I always feel at home by the sea and it’s the only place I feel genuinely happy 2. I’m a Pisces, which also links to that 👆🏼 3. I’m named after my great grandmother 4. My middle name is Jasmine, which my parents chose because winter jasmines were in bloom in the hospital garden when I was born. I love Princess Jasmine too, which explains my bio and icon 😊 5. I was born 2 weeks late and they had to use forceps to get me out 😳 apparently I was “comfy” and I had a bump on my head for a day 😂 6. I have a faint scar on my left cheek and a biiig road rash scar on my left hip from a road accident when I was 11 7. I have a belly button piercing, which I admit, I forget is there most of the time bc it’s been there for half a decade 8. I’m a big book fan; I read A LOT and write almost as much 9. I’m 20, but everyone thinks I’m like 15 (which fucking SUCKS) 10. I take medication for depression and anxiety and because I’m not so good at dealing with life rn I’m struggling to find a job (I went to college for 3 years and have qualifications in media, drama and film studies but I’m finding it seriously hard to find work in any of those sectors) It says tag 10 people but I’m kinda new here so I’ll tag a few of you in case you want to do it (if you haven’t already) @c-3pno, @1captainswan1, @ktatiana99, @fuckyeahjaredandjensenx

Welp. The Freelancer role playing has been ridiculously crazy fun. I feel bad that I have neglected microfics for the last while, but the thrill of improvising and collaborating with other writers on this scale is exhilarating. Yeah, sure, we have little idea which way we are going until suddenly find ourselves neckdeep in fluff, drama or sin - but the uncertainty is half the fun.

Lessons I have learned about life as a Freelancer on the MOI:

- Protocol? What’s protocol?
- Medical must absolutely hate us. We make their lives so damn difficult.
- Niner rules with an iron fist, and the entire ship trembles before her displeasure.
- Nobody knows what the food in the mess hall is AT ALL.
-AWOL is merely something you can hang a painting on.
-Alcohol, chocolate and real fruit are the true currency of the MOI.

So that is currently making my fandom experience extra fun. God I love my teammates, the wonderful writers who have taken this idea and run with it far beyond anything I could have hoped for or expected. You guys are the best.

My step brother has a “below average” IQ of 65. He’s been home-schooled for the majority of his life. Yes, he’s menatlly reatarded. Intellectually disabled. Cognitively handicapped. Whatever you call it. He doesn’t do much with his life but water the plants at our family’s florist shop and trying to solve second greade math problems. He still counts on his fingers. Life’s been different, to say the least, ever since he moved in with us. My name is Byun Baekhyun and i want my stupid stepbrother to disappear.

End of the year Review: A good year for drama addicts (Part 1)

Another year has passed and with it another batch of dramas! And this year I have decided to make my own end of the year review. To make it more digest I have decided to break this review in several parts, each part covering a subject that has left an impression on me. So let’s get to it!

2016 might be considered a terrible year, the-year-we-do-not-talk-about even, but for drama addicts this year was a great year, an amazing year. The first half of the year may have been a little bit dry in terms of dramas but the second half sure made up for it hence 2016 being considered a good year. I don’t recall a year that offered me so many dramas to watch at the same time. I said it before but I haven’t been on a drama shortage since this past June. Of course, quantity does not usually mean quality – or in our case lovability - yet this year has proven that we could have both.

It all started with the long-awaited drama adaptation of Cheese in the Trap which, despite all the questionable choices made in terms of story, still is a high-quality drama. The cast was stellar and their performance wonderful. The adaptation in terms of characters, their development and even their facial features was on point. The music was perfectly in sync with the drama and the mood. More than anything though, it started as a refreshing story, as a slice-of-life that I could have watched for hours and hours. I confess I still watch it regularly because of how good it is but I know better than to watch further than episode 12.

After the student life, I moved on with Descendants of the Sun promising myself I wouldn’t get emotionally attached this time. I kept my promise intact…for a solid 10 minutes. But what can I say? I am weak to bromance and gorgeous actors. Song Joong Ki swept me off my feet and Jin Goo knocked me out with their looks and adorable relationship. And apparently, I was not the only one to feel that way as the viewers’ ratings went as high as 40% during the drama broadcast. The visuals were to kill for but the story did play a major part in its success. It was my first time watching a K-drama about military life and while it was highly romanticized it was still an eye-opener in term of Korean military. Just like any dramas, Descendants of the Sun had its own flaws, flaws that I gladly overlooked as I was not ready for another drama heartbreak.

Then started a dry period in terms of dramas, at least for me. None of the aired dramas at that point were catching my attention or at least none that I deemed good enough to make it on this review.

The wait wasn’t long thankfully and it’s not one but two dramas that kicked out the 2016 good drama extravaganza! To be honest I started Another Oh Hae Young while I was waiting for Yoon Shi Yoon comeback drama Mirror of the Witch. It turned out to be good surprised and while the ending was slightly confusing it still left a deep impression in me. Particularly, it’s Oh Hae Young and her personality that I found interesting. She was nicely written and broke off the code of the stereotypical female lead, despite living a life that screamed stereotypical female lead life. This drama however wouldn’t have made it on this list if it was not for Oh Hae Young’s parents. They were loving and supporting parents even if they showed it in an unconventional way. And now that I think about it this year has showed several supporting and loving parents.

Fantasy was a recurring theme this year but Mirror of the Witch brought it to a whole new level. The drama perfectly included the magical elements to the sageuk story not just through the dialogues but through the scenery and the characters as well. Despite the plot turning too political sometimes the fantasy and the witch-hunt stayed central to the story. Yoon Si Yoon made me fall for him all over again, and his ability to deliver the smallest emotion with his eyes only will never stop to surprise me. My favorite part though, is how evil Hong Joo was and how much she lost faith in humanity I can say she was my favorite villain of the year (along with Choi Yoo Jin in The K2).

Staying in fantasy, W -Two Worlds, brought another refreshing story using a different view on “two worlds”. I knew I was going to like it since it was coming from Queen In Hyun’s Man writer and it did hit my expectations. Lee Jong Suk and Han Hyo Joo were an adorable pair, the concept of jumping in and out of manhwa was great and the idea of changing realities kept me wondering about what was coming next. I do wish they burned the amnesia trope as it completely changed the dynamic of the story and it ended up being complex to understand everything.

One of my biggest surprise this year, The Good Wife. I dropped the American version pretty early-on but the curiosity was too big for me not to try it. Staying loyal to the original version yet making its own, The Good Wife proved once again tvN supremacy in terms of quality dramas. It was quite a surprise as it was different from all the dramas I watched before. It was more mature without falling into the ridicule of makjang dramas. The legal cases were all interesting to watch and the character development well-done. If they ever plan a second season, count me in.

From the courtroom we went to the operation room. There were several medical dramas this year but only two gain my attention, the summer romance Doctors and the true medical drama which ironically is called Romantic Doctor, Master Kim. I said it before and I will say it again, Doctors and the role of Hye Jung were a breakthrough for Park Shin Hye. I am thankful for her choice as it made me see her under a new light. The student/teacher love story brought a lot of talks with many disapproving, yet it did quite the opposite to me. I was drawn to this “forbidden love story” who eventually did not become canon until they both were adults. Doctors only had doctors in the background to be honest but the fluttering romance was good enough for me.

It seems that I was unconsciously looking for a true medical drama this year and found it a little by chance with Romantic Doctor, Master Kim. As I am writing these words the drama is not over yet but I am already considering it one of the best dramas of the year. More focused on the medical aspect with drops of humor and romance, this drama is what I have been looking for in a medical drama: Interesting cases, life and death equally dealt with, character development as doctors and a lot of moral/ethical questions. Add to that a story that keeps me on the edge of my seat each week and an impressive directing style, there is no way I couldn’t like it.

2016 was the first time I watched that many sageuk dramas in such a short period of time, if Mirror of the Witch was my favorite sageuk this year, Love in the Moonlight came close second. It did become way too political for my taste around the end but I loved our Crown Prince falling for our Ra On pretending to be a eunuch. It reminded me of the special drama Splash Splash Love minus the fantasy part. It was my first time watching Park Bo Gum on screen and his charisma almost got me blind. I am definitely looking forward his next project!

The end of the year had nothing to envy to the rest of the year with three dramas showing a lot of promises and fun. The long-awaited Legend of the Blue Sea, which marked both Lee Min Ho and Jung Ji Hyun comeback on screen, delivered an exciting and fluttering story. I knew I was not going to be disappointed with Jung Ji Hyun and You Who Came From the Stars’ writer but I did not expect to like Lee Min Ho that much. It is for me his best role to date and I am religiously following the show.

Facing huge competition but still managing to win the heart of the viewers Weightlifting Fairy, Kim Bok Joo is the last surprise of the year. Nothing better than a light and cute love story to end the year. Lee Sung Kyung and Nam Joo Hyuk are the sweetest couple this year and I wait for the new episode each week impatiently.

Last but not certainly not least, marking tvN 10th year anniversary and Gong Yoo’s comeback on screen is Goblin! I am rarely disappointed in Kim Eun Sook’s works and this one is no exception.  Her way of writing female characters may be questionable but she is very good when it comes to bromance. Gong Yoo and Lee Dong Wook bromance is making my Friday and Saturday nights much more exciting and I can’t be thankful enough for that.

I watched over 40 dramas this year and surprisingly only dropped 4. I tried hard to choose my favorite drama of the year but it was a major fail! They were all memorable for so many different reasons. One thing is sure these dramas entertained me all year long and made me feel alive like never before.

I guess this weekend was let’s see how much drama and stress we can fit into Mj’s last weekend of her dedicated study time.

Thursday and Friday were wonderful; I watched a dear friend of mine marry the love of her life. I felt so lucky to be able to stand next to her as a witness to her love and devotion to her husband. And the reception was really fun too! (The parts that I remember, at least.)

Saturday I went to my vet’s office to pick up some medications to hopefully treat Willie’s aggression. All last week I was emotionally preparing to return him to the shelter today, where he would then be put down due to the behaviorist believing he was too aggressive and unsafe to be adopted out to another family. Thursday night (in the middle of the wedding rehearsal) a friend recommended a new home for Willie, and I became distraught over the fact of giving him to someone else that he could be aggressive towards and the many options that were presented to me. Sweetheart called the vet’s office Friday while I was preparing for the wedding, and the vet called me 30 minutes before the ceremony to offer some prescriptions. So Willie is now on fluoxetine, gabapentin, and zylkene. Little man’s on more medications than me.

Today I received a Facebook message from a girl in my class that I used to be friends with. She took a leave of absence in the fall due to medical/personal reasons and I have not spoken to her since December due to a falling out last autumn. This afternoon I received a PDF file that contained a letter from her telling me how awful and selfish of a person I am. I believe it was her way of gaining closure from our friendship. I’m pretty unfazed by the message, if we’re being honest, but if it made her feel better to send me a two page letter about how I project my anger and disgust onto others, then so be it.

Tomorrow I start my family medicine rotation. I’ll be working on the labor and delivery floor this week for my specialty elective and I am so excited. I just wanna hold some babies.

Here’s to hoping the start of May goes better than the end of April did.

You are one of the most prestigious and successful surgeons in South Korea, working at one of South Korea’s best hospitals. Your life as a surgeon was boring and tedious, but everything changes when you go to Syria as part of your hospital’s medical volunteering team, where you meet a certain captain of the Special Forces, named Jeon Jungkook.

A/N: This story is based on the drama “Descendants Of The Sun”, but I gave my own twist to it rather than copying the whole story. If you haven’t watched the drama yet, I definitely recommend watching it! It’s so good omfg.

Before, I have said that I would make a four-part story of this series, but I decided to make it a few chapters longer because otherwise, the storyline would be very rushed with just four chapters, and I don’t want to do that.

Pt. 1 | Pt. 2.1 | Pt. 2.2 | Pt. 3 | Pt. 4

“Stay still, would you?!”

You flinched as you heard Nurse Choi scolding the poor soldier, who hurt his ankle while doing his daily morning routine around the military base. The soldier was cringing from the pain, and he was cringing even more as Nurse Choi tried to wrap the bandage around his hurting ankle, little drops of sweat dripping from his forehead.

“You soldiers can’t be careful enough, can you?” Nurse Choi muttered underneath her breath as she finished wrapping the bandage around the soldier’s ankle. The soldier just stayed still, but you didn’t miss his muttered apology to Nurse Choi, who just sighed at the wrecked soldier. She then walked to the other side of the cube, only to grab a pair of crutches.
