Behind the Scenes of Evolution of the Daleks / Daleks In Manhattan (Part Three)

Excerpt from the DVD Commentary by David Tennant, Nick Briggs (voice of the Daleks), and Barney Curnow (Visual Effects On Set Supervisor)

David Tennant: This big main hall was a huge, big room, and it was absolutely freezing. The rest of the factory wasn’t so bad, but this bit… ooohhh…

Nick Briggs: The trouble is, see, you can all run around and do things, whereas I’m sitting most of the time.

David: Yes, but you can wrap yourself up in a big parka, and…

Nick:  It’s the lack of… the total inaction just makes you…

David: I seem to remember you huddling quite close to the big red Rad radiator

Nick: I thought you were going to say, ‘huddling quite close to the Confidential girls’

<everyone laughs>

Nick: …which is also true.  So what I did to keep myself warm was drink lots of tea.

David: Yeah

Nick: And of course then you just want to go for a wee all the time

David: And when you’re wearing that many layers that can take a while

Nick: And also it’s slightly humiliating for a man of my years to have to keep asking the third assistant to go to the loo, and this 23 year old says, “You went just now!”

<all laugh>

Nick: “I’ve got to go again. I’m really sorry!”

<more laughing>

“Jeff Day”

JESS INVENTS AN ALTER EGO ON AN ALL-NEW “NEW GIRL” TUESDAY, APRIL 19, ON FOX 8/7c

This week is going to be especially great for New Girl fans because they are airing two episodes in a one-hour special and ‘Jeff Day’ kicks it off perfectly.  As I’ve said, both episodes are great, and this one in particular is honestly hysterical.  Both storylines are non-stop laughs so let me see if I can get into why without giving too much away.

First off, Sam and Nick’s constant back and forth throughout was my favorite part of the episode.  There still seems to be some bad blood between the two (understandably) and it made for some great one-liners.  So when Jess tries to buy a new car and is quickly derailed by a sexist salesman, she devises a plan to get the car she wants by inventing a male alter ego by the name of “Jeff Day”.  Things backfire, though, when both Nick and Sam show up at the dealership pretending to be him.

Meanwhile, when Winston decides to bring his prankster girlfriend, Rhonda (guest star Sonequa Martin-Green) to Schmidt and Cece’s wedding, they fear their wedding day won’t go as smoothly with her there.  And let me just say, Rhonda and her pranks were hilarious, which made her another highlight of the episode.

And with that, let me leave you with some things to look forward to:

-Height jokes

-The ultimate prank that goes completely awry

-The (sort of) return of Julius Pepperwood

-A very intense car test-drive

-Some of the best Sam & Nick scenes to date

New Girl’s one-hour special airs Tuesday, April 19th at 8/7c on FOX.

And as always, send any questions you have my way and I will answer as long as they’re not too spoiler-y!
