my favorite photo ever probably

I can’t stop freaking out over the results of my latest Rabbit photoshoot at Anime Boston!! This photo is probably my favorite photo of me in cosplay ever taken! If you’re looking for a fantastic photographer in the New England area I cannot recommend Grace enough!

Cosplayer: CiaoBirdie Cosplay (Me)
Photographer: Derpy Mermaid Cosplay and Photography

Here is the story to go with: (sorry it’s long winded!) *also edit as you would like just credit back to me, thanks a bunch!* ***edited to add that Misha IS standing on his left leg and leaning down onto Jensen, I would never make Jensen try to pick Misha up in that manner ever…carry on!***

So at the end of Misha’s m&g I showed him the “let me be your wings” photo and asked if that would be feasible to do in the Misha/Jensen op. He laughed and said “yeah, oh yeah” and was nodding. After though, I was like “well was that Misha being Misha or was he really saying yes??” So I figured I would just ask at the time of the op and if they say no then cool, I’ll get a squeeze, no biggy.

So the time came to get the op and the guys were in a great mood, joking around and just all around cheery. So I walk up to Misha and point to the pic on my shirt and ask him if we can do it and he says “oh yes. Yeah totally,” so we turn to Jensen and Misha goes “we’re gonna do this” and Jensen just busts up laughing and walks away. When he comes back over he goes (still laughing) “Ahhh No.” So at that point I was ready to do my squish hug, but Misha pops his head over my shoulder and says “No no we can do it! Let’s do it!”

After that Jensen calls Chris over to us and says “So she says to me (while pointing at the shirt) we can do this right?” and Chris was just so puzzled. One of the handlers came over and is waving her hands and going NoNoNo. So I told Jensen we can make it work and we ended up arguing for a little while over how it could/could not work and Misha piped in and was like “no we can do this, we’re gonna do, let’s go”.

So we get into position and the first attempt Misha starts to fall over into the back screen and naturally we all start laughing so we try again and I shove my hand against Misha’s shoulder to help hold him up and look to the camera and the pic was taken. Misha was laughing and getting back up so I turn to Jensen and I told him “thank you so much I really appreciate it.” He thanked me and then I left. It was the most amazing experience and I can’t thank either of them enough for allowing me to get the op I really wanted.

Hey! I’ve never posted proper photos of myself on here before, but now I’m like, #yolo, even if just for today, so here we #golo

ADHD is…

Not being diagnosed in childhood, because you did “too well” in school

Spending your teens feeling stupid as all hell, because you struggle to meet deadlines and can’t quite understand concepts in subjects that don’t 100% capture your interest (math, u lil bitch, i am lookin @ u)

Having your executive dysfunction chalked up to “laziness” because if you’re smart, you “can’t” have ADHD, so you’re obviously just unmotivated and lazy. Except if you were unmotivated and lazy, you wouldn’t have high achievement, so like, check mate, bud?

Being told that ADHD isn’t a reason for your behavior, it’s an “excuse”, and that you should just “do better” despite your brain literally not being able to

Not being told you have it until you’re 18 and struggling to function like an adult

Having trouble driving because you can’t focus, having trouble sleeping because you can’t stay still, having trouble with chores because you never remember anything

Hyperfocusing on something so hard that suddenly it’s 6 AM and you’ve ruined your sleep schedule all over again

Suffering from loads of mental health issues, overcoming literally all of them, and having your executive dysfunction still blamed on them because people just??? really love????? to use mental illness and their ableism as a scapegoat?????? instead of trying to help, and recognizing that adhd is a permanent part of you?????????? like “are you sure you’re not just depressed” yes. thank you for your opinion even though i never asked for it, but I am actually very sure, good day to you too sweetie :) :)) :)))

Not being able to make yourself shut up when you’re speaking about something you’re passionate about. Having that problem in college lectures, and hearing a few people snicker each time you talk because you’re /that girl/ who /talks too much/ and has /too many opinions/ like gawd sorry for taking up space ffs

Finally having an explanation for some of your less-loved quirks, and knowing that you’re not just lazy or stupid

Finding a whole bunch of people who get it

Being able to do amazing things when you hyper focus, getting more done than most people because you actually can’t get distracted for once

Finding outlets for your energy very early on in life, and finding them to be your favorite things in the whole world (acting, dance, music)

Being able to multitask like a pro (and also having to multitask, because when you have the tv/radio/whatever on in the background, it’s a distraction you can control, which helps a lot)

Knowing a whole ton of totally random trivia about so many different things, and a bunch of information on a few select topics, to the point that people think you’re a student in those things (example - I’ve been very physically sick this year, I like to read medical journals, and when I went in to get a CT scan a few months ago, the tech asked me if I was a medical student because of how much I know about it all)

Having a huge amount of energy when you’re doing things you like, and feeling it exponentially grow, feeling like you can take on the world

Understanding that nothing’s wrong with you. You work differently than most people, and it makes life hard, but that’s because of the world, not because of you. It’s just how we are.

This is probably one of my favorite cosplay photos ever, because I was just goofing around while my photographer (Vander Photography) was setting up, so it’s a wonderful mix of silliness and the beauty of the location. (I actually use the photo right after it on my cosplay cards).

This shoot was the one where I finally decided I had done enough on my Elsa cosplay after making and remaking it multiple times over the last 2 years, so there are a lot of happy memories mixed up in this photo.

I love this photo! You look so elegant even though you were just having fun!

I definitely know that feeling of finally deciding to shoot something that you’ve been working super hard on and that excitement and just feeling like you’re done and you are able to wear it and have fun!

Thank you so much for this submission! I love it <3

Coral Crossgrove for plumb-barb‘s boarder challenge.

Coral is a 23 year old telekinetic psychic who has grown up secretly believing that she’s a witch. She’s extremely child-like and oblivious to how real life adults are supposed to act. She spends her days lying in fields watching clouds and making flower crowns. She still has tea parties with her stuffed animals. She doesn’t understand anything bad in the world. She’s never really been denied anything and never experienced lying, deceit, or any human interaction beyond her grandmother, who was a saint-like woman that would sacrifice anything for the happiness of Coral. She never met her parents and knows nothing about where she came from. It was a forbidden topic with her granny.

She was raised in a remote cabin at the top of a mountain with only the company of her beloved stuffed animals, her Grandma Tilde, and an old horse named Moonshine that roamed freely on their property. She had no access to the civilized world and the only things she knows about normal society comes from storybooks and old VHS tapes that her Granny bought while on one of her solo outings to the bottom of the mountain.
