happy birthday to @nipuni whose art has inspired me so so much throughout the past year!!!!!! thank you for all your wonderful contributions to the dragon age fandom and as always, i’m looking forward to seeing what you’ll create next! <3
I never did end up posting this, so here’s my contribution to the Solas calendar project from awhile back. I probably won’t be posting here anymore because studying architecture has sapped all of my desire to draw in my spare time, but for anyone who wants to see how i’m doing, i’m fairly active on instagram. Thank you to everyone who’s stuck around through my various fandom shenanigans. To all the friends I made along the way, hope you’re all well and wishing you the best in the future. <3

holy shit you guys, the state of Tolkien fandom on Tumblr is… bad. it’s really bad. don’t go into the tags. I’m saving you the trouble, they’re really really really bad, just don’t.
anyway I’m trying to take better care of my mental health so I kinda want to dive back into fandom. like, four days ago I had an epiphany and started writing A Mountain Keeps An Echo again, which… it’s been like four years since I updated that thing and I’m really sorry but I’m 25 pages into a third chapter because all I’ve done lately is write about FUCKING ELVES because I can’t concentrate on anything else.
so that’s a thing. if you liked that fic, here’s your chance to stop hating me. (you’re definitely gonna hate me before it’s over and I’m not even sorry, bad shit is gonna happen)
I’m also gonna try to revive my Dragon Age blog because why have one sideblog when you can have 8,000?
anyway, you can find those at The Lonely Mountain and Thedas Mom so go follow me and make me feel good about myself and I promise I’ll start contributing to fandom again
My order arrived and it’s beautiful~~~
Thank you for all your contributions to the Sterek fandom ♥ You brighten all of our days! (And finding some Dragon Age stuff on your store was a lovely surprise (Dorian, my love! Amatus!
♥♥♥~ keke) so thank you for that too!
(Is it weird that I saw my name written on the envelope and thought “I know that handwriting”? It is, isn’t it? haha)
He’s not that old, perhaps twenty years, no more. He has blond hair that hangs in front of his eyes; he wears dirty leathers—perhaps the only clothes he owns. He was there when you found Rhys in the templar crypt, but you couldn’t see him. Nobody can, and those who do forget him. Just like you are right now.
You are totally right about Anders' stans, and I say this as someone who actually loves Anders as a character. It's really annoying trying to engage in a conversation about him when almost every fan shouts "Anders did nothing wrong!!" (man, I do hate that line) when you bring out some of the things that make him such a dark (an interesting) character. It has come to a point that I would rather follow blogs that are critical of him instead of fellow Anders fans blogs. Love your blog btw <3
The thing is, the stans don’t really love Anders. What they love and portray in all their fic, art, and other fan content is a poor perfect cat-loving woobie who is always the victim, is always so selfless, and suffers more than all the other characters combined for completely undeserved reasons because he’s just too pure and good for this cruel sinful world. Ugh. That’s not Anders. That’s not the character we see in Awakening or DA2.
The Anders in canon is a self-absorbed asshole who treats everyone badly and behaves as though he’s entitled to use others, including Hawke, the object of his obsessions (and I used that word intentionally because he does treat Hawke as an object), and Varric, the one person he’s nice to because Varric is paying protection money on his behalf. He starts off as just a sexist, racist asshole, and then he becomes more destructive and more abusive as the narrative continues. It’s a descent. It’s a downward spiral. He’s on his way to pure villainhood, and even a romance can’t save him. He’s the greatest threat to his own cause, both through his murder and terrorism and by being an abomination, living walking evidence of what people in Thedas fear and hate about mages.
But the stans don’t see that, or if they do, they pretend none of that happens and that it’s all excusable by being so-called “bad writing.” (It’s not.) They reject what actually happens in the game and try twisting everything into their own version of canon, twisting it so far that breaks, and then attack anyone who doesn’t fall in line and worship their true vision of Anders.
And they get so incredibly nasty about it, down to physically threatening people who disagree and outright emotionally abusing people. I’ve been through enough abuse in my life, and I don’t need any more from Certain People in this fandom over a goddamn fictional character.
Why is it so hard for them to admit that Anders is a bad person? Why is it so hard for them to admit that the sexist, racist, abusive, sexually harassing, and dehumanizing things he says are bad and not excusable? Why is it so hard for them to admit that mass murder and terrorism are inherently morally wrong and unjustifiable? It is ok to like characters who are bad people! It is ok to like villainous characters! Just admit that they’re villains! Just admit that they do bad things! Just admit that they’re wrong! It’s not that difficult!
I’ve stated on a side blog that because what’s called “positivity” in this fandom involves glorifying mass murder and telling abuse survivors that we’re the ones in the wrong for being triggered by Anders, then I would rather be called hateful and be a negative anti blogger every single day. I stand by that. Although I do occasionally joke about automatically blocking people for saying they like Anders, anyone who likes him and can still recognize his actual flaws (actual flaws and not the “too many freckles, too good for this world” bullshit the stans propagate) is welcome here. It’s important to be critical of the media we consume and the characters in media we enjoy. As I’ve stated on a different side blog, character appreciation doesn’t mean ignoring all their faults; it means understanding their flaws, as well as their good qualities, and understanding how those contribute to their characterization and story. Anders should be held to that same standard, despite my personal dislike for him.
And if you feel threatened or unsafe because of any of the stans, anon, then please unfollow them, and block if necessary. A fictional character in a video game is not worth getting hurt or bullied over. Please be care in this toxic mess of a fandom. And that goes for all of my fandom followers!
Also, thanks for enjoying the blog, and please feel free to vent in my ask box anytime. ❤️
Now that I have half a moment to breathe, a few things:
1) To the many subscribers, bookmarkers, lurkers, and handful of commenters–I won’t be posting any more chapters of my long fic, New Haven, on here or AO3. It will eventually be deleted. If you have downloaded it or intend to download it from AO3, please do not repost it anywhere else or take my work and turn it into your own with your own characters.
2) I have a few prompts I owe people, and I’ll be posting those only on AO3 when they’re completed. This includes the hell I intend to unleash that is Coryphekink (which will be posted here by one of my sistas @bearly-tolerable or @fadedforyou ) *eyebrow wiggle…dies*
3) I discovered one of my hate readers during my break–they inadvertently liked my most recent one-shot and then unliked it when they realized it was MY work. Don’t think I don’t see you.
It’s likely that I will still hang around here and provide dumb ass commentary on things, and I’ll still be contributing to my fandom blog commitments, but my foray into the Dragon Age fanfiction world is done for now. I’ll be working on my original fiction for publishing until it’s ready.
