How I watch animes

“Ooooh this anime looks interesting, lets watch it”

*binge watches it until I finish the whole thing*

“My soul feels empty.*

*Continues to go onto tumblr and look through anything and everything about the anime including ships*

*like 4 hours later* "ooooh this anime looks interesting, lets watch it.

The cycle never stops….

I don’t think I ever told my story about my New Years birding trip.

See, every year, I try to do a small birding trip, weather and schedule dependent, to kind of get my new year started on the right foot, with a foundation of making time to go out and birdwatch. Because of work, this year I had to limit it to the small lake near my apartment complex. But lakes are pretty great for birding. Water attracts a whole lot of great species, and I was hopeful for both overwintering songbirds and some water-loving birds.

I saw a lot of the usual suspects, like chickadees and cardinals, blue jays and crows. I took notice of the birds on the water, which was a lot of what you’d expect for suburban lake/ponds: a whole lot of mallards and Canada geese. But there was one group of birds I wasn’t seeing, lurking in the reedy margins on long legs with spear-sharp beaks. I’d seen them at the lake plenty of times before, but on this January 1st there was no sign of their graceful white shapes wading in the water.

And that is how I started the new year with no egrets.

New commission for @kulindadromeus-from-scotland, based on her epic Harry Potter fanfic, “Changes Everything,” which you should totally read because she put a lot of work, like, years of work into it, she really wants more reviews and stuff for it, and no spoilers but Umbridge gets attacked by a Velociraptor. If you’ve ever wondered how the story might be different if Harry Potter had been adopted by a family that was actually supportive with a kickass tomboy adopted sister, if Hogwarts actually had anything resembling diversity in its student body, if the Wizarding World had politics and social issues that were actually coherent, or just wanted an excuse to imagine that Harry speaks with a Scottish accent, look no further than Changes Everything.

As you can see, this piece really tested my ability to apply complex colors to scenes. I had to dip into practically every color in the rainbow, from blue to blue. The blue was the hardest to make fit, since it contrasts so much with blue.

If you want me to draw a thing for you, my commission info is here.

A thread about millennials and stories (sorry for all the typos I was fueled by too much emotion to type well)

My country is celebrating 100 years of independence this year and we are also achieving marriage equality on the 1st of March. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate our achievements as a nation than celebrating equality and human rights. Congratulations, Finland, may there be many more victories such as this and may your freedom last a thousand years!

(yes, the Finnish flag appears backwards because she’s waving it around)

can you believe supergirl is so much less popular than superman even though she’s much more interesting as a character, because she remembers krypton and lost her entire world and now she’s getting sidelined on her own show? incredible

i knew Bakugou felt guilty i knew it i knew it i knew it i knew it i knew it my son my son is cRYING he’s fighting Izuku not just for confirmation, not just for answers, not just because he’s already accepted them, but because he has no idea how else to express his emotions regarding this

and Izuku knew, Izuku knew about All Might weakening because he got his powers, he was given All Might’s quirk, no one else would understand, this is the only way for Bakugou to let out all his regret and anger and shame and frustration at himself, because he doesn’t know any other way

he feels shame and regret and guilt because he’s the reason his idol is now retired, he’s the reason All Might’s secret was exposed to the world, he’s the reason all this shit happened and if he hadn’t been kidnapped, if he had been stronger, none of it would’ve happened, none of it

and this fight with Izuku is also probably Bakugou in some way asking to be punished for it all, in addition to the above reasons, because it’s all his fault, it’s all his fault, and he was never punished for it, others were instead punished for acting out to save him (Kirishima…), but he was never punished for his weakness, never scolded for his lack of strength that caused the situation

and even tho it’s not true, he doesn’t need to be punished for it all, it wasn’t his fault, the guilt still eats away at him and this is the only release, this is the only way he knows how to deal with his emotions, with anger and tears and fighting and blood, because he’s stunted, he’s emotionally stunted and he’s only ever cared about himself until recently (before Kirishima, before All Might  retired….), but now he cares, he cares more then he can possibly express, more then he knows how to handle, and it’s too much for him, he needs to let it out somehow and this is the only way he knows how

all of Bakugou’s self confidence issues, all the inferiority he feels towards Izuku, all his denial, all his regret and sorrows and guilt and anger, all of his pain and frustration, every time he looked up and admired All Might, and his shame, it’s all crashing down on him and he doesn’t know what to do with it all

Izuku  knows, Izuku knows that Bakugou can’t keep it in for any longer because it’ll break him, that this fight is the only way for Bakugou to put a release valve on all those emotions and finally let them out, this is Bakugou’s release, this is his catharsis, and yes this fight is pointless, but Bakugou needs it to let this raging whirlwind of emotions out so he can function again

anyway i love my son and he needs a million hugs and i’m going to give him every single one of them

The moment I knew @mormoc was going to be apart of the @pjocoloringbookproject, was the moment I knew that it was going to be the very first picture that I colored. And she didn’t disappoint me! I was utterly blown away with this piece (as I usually am whenever I see any of May’s artwork) and was so excited to color it!

Thank you May, for your beautiful lineart that is just so wonderfully compelling and breathtakingly fun to look at and color! You’re an incredible artist and a lovely friend altogether! Thank you!

Virgo is so, so important. Don’t get me wrong, all the signs are important, but I think Virgo is a pretty important sign. I think Virgo is interesting in the sense that while it is a sign that is commonly seen in the shadows rather than the spotlight, it still stands out without trying.

Virgo is the sign after Leo. Leo is known for its leadership qualities, constantly under the spotlight. Leo represents the king while Virgo represents the servant. The two signs couldn’t have been any more different, but neighboring signs do share a common trait. For example, Aries and Taurus are both stubborn.

I think the common trait that Leo and Virgo share is their importance in their roles, even though they are different. In society, you will always have a leader, and with a leader, there will always be people under him. You can’t have one without the other. A servant needs a king to serve, and a king needs people to rule over.

I also think both the archetypes of the virgin and servant work really well for Virgo, when it comes to their detailed, analytical nature. For a servant, it would make sense. The servant has to have a sharp eye to effectively do their duties. For a virgin, it’s a little different.

Taking out the sexual connotations the word virgin can have, a virgin is probably someone who hasn’t had experience in something. When a virgin is exposed to new, interesting things, all the details can hit the virgin pretty hard, because they really don’t know what to expect. I think this is why Virgos are so attentive to details. Every experience is new to them, no matter how hard they try to create a routine. Maybe Virgos create routines in the first place so that they can handle their situations effectively. Perhaps without a routine, maybe every experience can feel like a first for a Virgo, and to them as an Earth sign, it can feel overwhelming. However, Virgo is a mutable sign, so perhaps while they can feel unsettled by the infinite possibilities a situation can bring, they can most certainly adjust, even if they don’t think so.

Virgo is interesting.

When live action is well done.
