The problem is that Eren is ridiculously handsome these days.
Sure, Levi had always acknowledged that the kid was kinda cute, especially after he’d started growing his hair out and learned to control his temper better. That had been it, though, and since back then Levi had still been his Captain, he’d never really even allowed himself to dwell on such things. But now when he’s retired - and growing soft with age, as Eren himself had claimed once with a twinkle in his eyes - he’s become painfully aware of just how attractive he finds Eren.
He’s sitting amongst tall grass and wildflowers, more focused on admiring the line of Eren’s broad shoulders than paying attention to what he’s doing with his squad. Since he can’t deny a single thing from Eren, he’d naturally agreed to come along and watch them train. It would be really helpful, Eren had said, worrying on his bottom lip with his teeth in a way that had been horribly distracting to Levi, because even though he’d now officially been promoted to Squad Leader, he could use some feedback on his training methods.
They’ve been at it for what must be hours now, and Levi’s quite impressed. Maybe he really is old and soft, because he’d have allowed at least one break somewhere in between. Eren’s more strict than he would’ve imagined, even tense at times, and Levi’s not at all envious of his squad members.
It’s quite nice, in a way, sitting in the sun and merely allowing time to pass. That’s a luxury in and of itself, he thinks, being able to stop and smell the flowers, both figuratively and literally. He’s plucked a freshly blooming daffodil from the ground and is twirling it in his fingers when Eren seems to have decided it’s finally time for a break.
Without hesitation, Eren comes to him, leaving his squad to cool off amongst themselves. He plops down on the ground next to Levi, a little out of breath but still no less gorgeous. There’s a small frown resting over his features and Levi wants to kiss it away, to press his lips against the crease in his brow and the downturned corners of his mouth.
“Hi,” Eren says and manages a wry grin. “How am I doing so far?”
Levi tears his gaze away from the shining green of Eren’s eyes and instead turns to watch his squad members, most of whom are also on the ground, trying to catch their breath. “Well,” he starts off and intends to go on, but apparently that’s already enough for Eren.
“Really? I don’t know,” he sighs, taking a hand through his unruly hair. He’s discarded his jacket long ago and rolled up his sleeves, and Levi finds himself hopelessly transfixed by the firm muscles in his arms. Not to mention his hands, dear God, those broad palms and long skilled fingers that Levi’s imagined touching him all over so many times that he’s lost count by now.
To top it off, Eren towers over him by now, having grown several inches over the years. That’s completely unacceptable to Levi. This is Eren, his Eren who’d he’d vowed to protect, the perpetually angry and squeaky-voiced kid who’d looked at him like he’d hung the damn moon. His Eren is not allowed to be this attractive, because Levi honestly cannot handle it.
Eren is in the middle of rambling about something when Levi realizes he hasn’t been listening at all. He’s fidgeting in place, that much Levi registers, hands clenched into fists and his stare darting back and forth from Levi’s face to his own feet as he talks. There’s something trapped in the green of Eren’s eyes that reminds him of a panicked animal, and Levi wants nothing more than to soothe him and tame him.
“Hey,” he interrupts, making Eren stop abruptly. “It’s okay. Breathe. Relax.”
It’s a horribly clumsy attempt at comforting him, but Eren’s shoulders do drop a little. “Yeah. Okay,” he repeats with a long exhale. “Sorry. It’s, uh, you being here just makes me a little nervous.” It’s all said in one hasty breath, almost fearfully.
Levi blinks. “It’s okay,” he repeats, and having ran out of things to say, reaches out and hands his daffodil to Eren. “Here. Take this.”
It’s silent for a while, but Eren does extend his hand and pluck the flower from his hand, his face questioning but also a little hopeful. “What?” he asks, as if he hadn’t quite heard right.
“It reminded me of you,” Levi says and opens his mouth to explain further, but when nothing comes to mind, he closes it again. “Make sure you don’t crush it, though. Maybe train your squad a little less intensely.” He’s not sure if Eren can manage that for even a fraction of a second, being less intense than he usually is, but for the sake of his overworked squad members, Levi sure hopes so.
“Thank you.” Eren’s lips are curving into a tiny smile, and it’s the most beautiful thing Levi’s ever seen. “I’ll try to take good care of it.”
“I know you will,” he says, more to himself than to Eren since the kid is already up and ready to continue, newfound enthusiasm in his voice.
One of the members of his squad outright whimpers when told to get up and resume training, another one actually has the gall to talk back at Eren, but none of them even mention the delicate daffodil now tucked behind his ear.
Let me tell you about the lengths I will go to write a character narrative while I am playing Dragon Age.
I made a Dalish Mage Inquisitor and I wanted her to have a reputation of being underestimated, only to be the single most terrifying mage in the history of Thedas. I had one specific thing I wanted to do to fulfill that.
So I started with Frost Step, then I found the ‘explode on kill’ fade-touched metal and crafted the fuck out of a ice staff. Then I added the perk that Frost Step causes damage as the Inquisitor passes by. Preparations complete.
Then, at a much lower level that I should have, I found that punk ass dragon in the Hissing Wastes. After a fierce and drawn out battle, all of my companions are face-down in the dirt, I am at last one standing. The Dragon is at a sliver of health. Now is my chance.
I frost step across the flied and ram right into it’s head. It explodes it a pop of blood and guts.
My tiny baby Inquisitor head-butts a dragon so hard it explodes into a fine pink mist.
I picture Iron Bull at the camp that night, looking over the camp fire at this tiny blonde pixie woman cleaning dragon blood out of her ears, knowing damn well what he saw and not knowing if he should allow himself to believe it.
A YA post-apocalypse novel about a 13 year old kid that just got braces and they hate them so much and then the world collapsed and their journey is about spending a decade finding the last living orthodontist in the post-war/plague/zombie ruins.
What relationships are you hoping Hiro goes more into as the series goes on? Like partnerships and pair ups.
Relationships are something Hori can picture as powerful and
moving, but for now, we didn't get to see a lot of that in BNHA
because characters were still young and mostly concentrating on
improving. Now they’ve matured and gained experience I’m
pretty impatient to see what’s going to happen. Given how many
characters we have here, there are actually a lot of
relationships I’d like to be developed, so I’ll give the first five I’m
looking forward the most or this answer’ll just never end. I’m
putting aside Izuku and All Might, as it’s surely not particular
to me and everyone’s pretty much waiting a further and incoming development about
them. Plus I have another ask waiting inbox about their relationship
so I’m reserving my thoughts for later (what a tease I am).
1. Kirishima and Bakugou Obviously. It’s one of the
relationship that’s been carefully draught since the beginning and is
ready to bloom. Kirishima and Bakugou are
important to each other, now it’s up to Hori to explore and deepen
this relationship. Kirishima wasn’t very noticeable before
Kamino arc, but Hori planned everything ahead. It’s no wonder
Kirishima and Bakugou ended up bounding the way they did. Their
personalities match very well; at USJ, they ended up together
fighting against villains because they had the same reaction
when Kurogiri appeared; they jumped in front of others to try
and land a hit on him.
They just feel right for each other. What I
expect particularly is Kirishima waking up Bakugou’s urge to
protect and to save. With what is currently happening to
Kirishima, I hope Bakugou will actually feel something awakening in
him to finally proceed towards the heroic spirit he’s still
missing. Bakugou is shown caring for Kirishima. These panels are making obvious he’s specifically looking at
Kirishima, noticing something is wrong and trying to help, in
his own way.
It’s been made clear Bakugou is still numb to this
urge to save, and at this point, it wouldn’t make sense for anyone
else than Kirishima being the one triggering this urge. Another
point we can’t ignore is how their rooms in the dorms are close
to each other, it kinda hints it’s important for them to be side by side, even from the teachers point of view. Kirishima also relies,
admires and cares a lot about Bakugou, while being aware how awful he
can be and calling him out when he does something wrong.
very curious about their relationship, because even in terms of
narrative and character development, a lot of interesting, inspiring and moving
moments could come out of it and both character could really
benefit of each other’s presence.
2. Izuku and Shinsou Reasons mentioned here. They have
a lot in common, are on the same page, could easily bond and be
fond of each other. I have a lot of cute headcanon for them in mind,
like how Izuku already pictured Shinsou in his notebook and how
Shinsou’d be embarrassed but pleased if he’d see that. Just imagine Izuku
happily blabbering about diverse plans as to how Shinsou could use
his quirk and both of them talking passionately about that
because no one is as invested as Izuku and it
would really please Shinsou to talk with him about heroic matters.
I’d like Shinsou to go on a mission and Izuku accompanying him,
exchanging tips and caring for him through the whole thing
because Shinsou’s so overwhelmed to be here he’s not processing
very well, and would be very impressed by how much Izuku has
grown in such a short time. They’ve got the same uprightness and
sense of justice and morals, and have great chemistry going on
between them. I’d like to see them becoming close friends.
3. Asui and… pretty much everyone (minus Mineta
obviously) I love Uraraka, but my fave female character is
definitely Asui. She’s so cool-headed and admirable. She’s
reliable, trustworthy and caring. And she fights admirably well; I
found her really cool during their provisional licence exam!
She knows exactly what she wants to do, what’s best for her and
others, so much that she won’t agree when others take decisions
she thinks aren’t right. She’s so honest she’ll apologize even
though she was right just because she’s afraid she may lose her
friends’ trust. Friends are very important to Asui, she
cherishes them a lot and isn’t afraid to show it. Asui is a good partner
for everyone. I’d particularly like to see her work once more with
Izuku or Tokoyami. I would find very interesting to see her team
up with Bakugou. I think they could match and work well
together. They even look good in each other hero costume.
4. Todoroki and Izuku Izuku’s the one that triggered
Todoroki change of mind, but after Stain arc, their
relationship hasn’t been explored that much. I like how Izuku
called out Todoroki and Inasa during the provisional licence
Todoroki’s still in the middle of figuring things out
about himself, I’d like him to be more emotionally invested in his
own convictions, and I think Izuku can actually help him convey
5. Uraraka and… herself This formulation seems kinda weird,
but truth is, I’d like for Uraraka to fully bloom and shine by
herself. She’s strong, brave and cool, I really wish we’d see her leading
others and taking charge. Uraraka’s skilled and very
open-minded; she’d do a wonderful job if only she trusted herself more. She’s on her way though as she realized she was maybe looking up to Izuku a little too much for her own good.
Bonus: Bakukid and Bakuparents. Their family is kinda dysfunctional
but they do give a nice vibe, I’d like them to come to terms
with their communication issues, and would be curious to see how
they could interact if they were to share their feelings and talk about important things together.
But imagine how hilarious it would be if Kuroo was allergic to cats.
OH MY GOD
Everyone thinks Kuroo loves cats so they always let him cat-sit for them and hang out with their cats, and he does love cats, he DOES, there’s just the little problem of the crippling sneezing fits he’s subjected to whenever he gets within five feet of one… Also, this probably goes without saying, but cats really love Kuroo and every time they see him they jump up on him and try to cuddle him into oblivion. He’s overjoyed and will keep cuddling them even though to the outside observer he looks like he’s literally about to die from his throat closing up. The cats are too important.
Kenma’s probably the only one who knows he’s actually allergic because he’s spent too much time with his throat almost completely closed up around Kenma’s cats to be able to fool Kenma about it. “No *achoo* way, *wheeze*, Kenma! I’m *achoo* totally fine!” Yeah right, Kuroo.
Kenma keeps allergy medicine around for him now because he knows that nothing is stronger than Kuroo’s drive to pet cute small animals, so it’s up to him to make sure Kuroo doesn’t sacrifice his health in his quest for cute.
