The MY Bob Barker is a ship owned and operated by the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, named for former television game show host Bob Barker, whose donation of $5 million to the society facilitated the purchase of the ship. On May 24, 2010, the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society stated that Bob Barker was now registered under the Dutch flag
First things first: dazzle camouflage. Fuck yes. This ship is just jawdropping up close.
The Dutch registered vessel is an ex-whaling ship having now undergone a complete role reversal and one seriously awesome refitting, which included her eye-catching dazzle camouflage paint-job. She’s a “long range fast ice vessel” which means that the Sea Shepherd can and have chased, harried and stuck their bow into whatever trouble they come across. The Bob Barker is also equipped with a helipad to launch longer range searches off, making her an effective and very useful craft for keeping track of whaling fleets or other targets. Whilst not as large as the Steve Irwin she is still an indispensable part of the fleet.
The fishing boat Thunder sinks while the MY Bob Barker looks on. The Sea Shepherd vessel pursued the trawler from December 2014 to April 2015, from Antarctic waters to off the coast of Nigeria, when the ship, wanted by Interpol for illegal fishing activities, was likely scuttled.
