But the one in whose name this war is to be fought… it is still a stranger to me. Before this war actually begins, I’m asking where it actually began. Will you tell me?

our boy killian: quiet defender

omg i can’t stop talking about last night’s episode

but another favorite part of the scene where gold was a misogynist twat to belle is that hook calmly stood there in the background and just

undoubtedly ready to step in if it got physical, as we saw with jekyll

and you just know hook, stalwart defender of women’s agency, had to be fuming with rage, steam practically coming out of his ears, to witness his nemesis treating a woman like shit

the crocodile, who killed hook’s lover out of jealousy and rage and spawned a centuries-long revenge quest, who has entrapped and abused dozens of women over the years - emotionally bullying hook’s dear friend belle, right on the deck of his own ship

but - hook knew belle could defend herself. that his own powers were limited against the dark one. that this was belle’s fight. that she’d ask for help if she needed it

and he knew EXACTLY what would have happened if he, killian jones, stepped uninvited into the middle of that fight: it would have set off a FIRESTORM of inflamed egos, and he’d have ended up getting hurt - or worse, belle would have (just like milah)

so he stood back, kept his mouth shut, and watched as she stood up to gold and battled for her own freedom

because this. was. not. his. fight

(unlike rumple, who literally insisted belle should be GRATEFUL that he wanted to ‘protect’ her from hyde, when she was perfectly capable of defending herself - and the one she WANTED protection from was rumple himself)

and at last, after belle had said her piece, killian says to gold, “you heard the lass”

not making it about himself in any way - just completely exasperated at the fact that rumple is steamrolling his own wife and won’t listen to a word she says. like us, disgusted at how violently possessive and condescending the man is being

i mean my god, i thought i couldn’t love killian “actual male feminist” jones any more, but his gentle friendship with belle is just a treasure trove
