I am not a Tokyo ghoul fan but I still feel the need to put this in my blog this attitude is downright disgusting, nasty and 100% unacceptable, honestly I feel so bad for Ishida!
I don’t know the man that well, but I’ve seen him interact with his fans on twitter before in such a fun and respectful way, I’ve also been here when he took the time to draw a tribute art of one of his fans when she was killed in a tragic accident (Christina Grimme)
and regardless of any of this, no author or content creator
should have to experience such harassment for a valid decision they made in their own story,
bad or good, I won’t understand for the life of me why some fans feel so entitled to someone else’s work like this, especially if it’s over something as ridiculous as shipping! being simply disappointed is an entirely different thing!
what’s ironic about all of this, is that 90% of these fans don’t even buy and support his work legally, this harassment started from international fans before the chapter was even released officially in Japan, and this alone is disrespectful enough, I understand a lot of us don’t have the means to support official releases due to different reasons, but the least we can do is not act like entitled pricks over it
I’m addressing this because for one, it’s horrible! and second, I don’t think the snk fandom is above this at all, I’m just glad Isayama doesn’t have any public social media account and I hope it stays that way
things like this makes me almost hate shipping culture because it’s the main source of all of this, people just don’t know when to stop, close their laptops and go take a walk
Now, this is just me making a point to people… because a friend of mine brought this to my attention recently, and I had to share my opinion.
ALWAYS ASK PERMISSION BEFORE YOU USE ANOTHER PERSON’S ART, EVEN FAN ART, FOR A-NY-THING. LIKE AN AMV FOR A POPULAR FANDOM… ALWAYS CREDIT THE ARTIST TOO. THIS IS THE LEAST YOU CAN DO FOR US. REBLOG IF YOU AGREE.
REMEMBER: That’s what messaging is for. If I’d had my messages off, I’d never have been able to hear from this really nice person who wanted to use a piece of art I did for their amv. I agreed and sent a better quality piece to them in good faith and was given a link in the video’s description, my signature can also be plainly seen in the amv. This helps both parties grow and become more well known. Failure on that simple courtesy hurts the whole community. Keep in mind that a simple kindness can build connections which build friendships which can even build careers!!
sorry that I didnt draw stuffs a lot recently
But i just need to say something in tumblr.
Its not really good news. sadly.
Ive already seen A LOT of ppl reposting my arts.
I dont mind unless you ask for permission.
But without any permission or credit, it just makes me mad.
Please. If you enjoy my arts, then please respect me as an artist too. :(
Especially Instagram.. Ive seen a lot from instagram.
I DO have instagram ☞unissleeping
so please.. if you see anyone reposting my art, message me please.. thank you.. :(
Why did you have to make such a passive aggressive post? Like if you have an issue with somebody or something they said how about you talk to them about it instead of vaguely complaining. It's rude tbh and it's pretty unnecessary... I think you misunderstood the meaning of what they were saying.
???? I was never planning to vague blog or try to be passive aggressive?
If it did seem so, I apologise
but I would like you and at least some people to understand the feeling of being a Asian and living in America, using Tumblr, etc, and how weird and disrespectful the treatment towards us is.
Ive had messages in the past or Tumblrs attitude in general towards certain styles or languages that hurt me so much because Tumblr sometimes doesn’t even seem to understand why its bad!
Do you understand what it feels like when your entire culture, history, everything is put into a huge joke or fetish??
Do you understand the feeling that no one takes your art seriously because they call it the “animu art” or the “desu desu art” and have people call me out for drawing Aph England too “shota” or “ugyuu desu” ???
Do you understand the feeling of people making it seem that manga/anime art is inferior to western art?? And seen as something we all must grow out of eventually??
So many other things like trying to speak my own language and have people laugh at it because its a “anime language” and make me say things like “desu” and shit??
Seeing people butchering my language as if its some kind of joke using words like “Senpai” or “Sensei” when its a really important word for respect?
My language is not a joke! My art is not a joke! Don’t make anything a joke!!
I don’t need someone to say I need to “grow out” of this style because its too childish!
I don’t need someone to say my language is weird because its too anime!
I believe every art style is beautiful, I believe every language is beautiful, I believe every culture is beautiful, and no one has a right to make a joke of it.
The post I made concerning this was not meaning to anyone direct, I was not meaning to be mean to anyone, I was not meaning to be passive aggressive but I am sorry if it seemed like it was.
But one thing is sure is that Ive been pretty pissed on how mistreated we are as a whole.
Thank you, and again, I am sorry if I seemed to be cornering one person or a small group.
