I don’t love you. I turned around from him and whispered, “it’s okay, I’m used to it”. He took my arm and asked why, and I looked away for a second before the words came, “I have never been someone’s first choice, so why would I think I could be yours?”
Here’s a difficult truth: Often times, when people say that they DON’T LOVE YOU anymore, they really mean nothing else. They don’t want you reading between the lines or analyzing their body language. They don’t need a montage of your memories or a litany of your damn realizations. They probably need you to step back and give them back their space.
I DON’T LOVE YOU is the sign you’re looking for. Take it and leave. Get out of their life while you still have your own life to run back to.
